Please do NOT take your animals here! Worst mistake I made with my rescued kitten. After 3 months of visits for a reoccurring ear infection, many doses of the same topical ear medication, and hundreds of dollars, I took my kitten for a second opinion to another veterinary clinic in which another doctor found out in 10 minutes that the kitten needed her ear to be flushed and there was an ear polyp that required removal to prevent reoccurring ear infections. (While @ Otterkill the notes for 2.5 months continue to say "slow healing ear infection" with no further probing into the root cause of the issue- UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!) Furthermore, when I requested the records to send them to the new vet, I noticed that the staff lied and falsified documentation!! What a nightmare of an experience with this clinic. Save your pet from suffering, and save yourself a headache, time & money; I strongly encourage you to bring your pet to a clinic where the doctors are *competent* and up to date with their knowledge & technology as well as have professional, honest, and helpful front desk & support staff. I had been going to this vet for over a decade. My cat stinky had been going there for years, he has crystals. In June 2022 they saw him and gave him medicine. For a brief while he was doing okay. Yesterday he wouldn't eat or move and when he did move, he fell over. I called first thing this morning and was informed they could NOT squeeze me in even though the receptionist said it "sounds really bad!" They said I should call someone else. Loyalty and compassion does not seem to be prevalent at all. How do you turn away an animal you have attended to for years??? I will never be going back there. read more

Our 12 year old Cat Mosi was put down 2 weeks ago due to cancer of the jaw. We thought it was an abscessed tooth and that we would be bringing her home later that day after surgery. After learning of her grim prognosis, we decided it was best to let her go to end her pain and suffering. It was all very last minute and we were not present for her passing. Otterkill was amazing throughout the whole process. They were able to return her ashes to us within a week. The one thing I regretted was never having her paw print on anything to keep. Well, today we received her paw print in the mail. It was such an awesome surprise and I can't thank them enough for the kind gesture. My family has been going to this vet for our pets for 20 years. They truly are a very caring staff and love what they do. They have always had the very best care for our pets and I recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a vet. read more

Over my 59 yrs, you can imagine the number of pets I've had. So, needless to say, I've seen my share of vet practices. Otterkill is amazing. The doctor was excellent and the care worker was fabulous. They took the time to "listen" to what I had to say, They asked so many questions regarding my fur baby's habits and functions. They explained and shown me everything that was needed at that moment. Also, they gave me a care plan and informed me of possible problems that could arise if action wasn't taken. They also gave ME the choice of whether or not certain to have certain vax's done. Now let talk about their pricing. It is fair, not overly priced and they are transparent about it. So no surprises. I love that. I am so great full for the excellent service provided by the entire staff. It was worth the hour and a half trip from Queens . In an emergency situation with my French bulldog needing a c section everything went smooth and everyone clearly explained everything and even provided lots of literature for the care of the bitch and puppies . This is an excellent facility and it helped restore my faith in veterinarians (you'll know what I mean if you deal with vets in nyc it's all about $$$)I love this place. read more

Our pets have been treated at Otterkill for over a decade. All seemed to be fine until this June when following up from a trip to Emergency Care on Route 211, Middletown, NY, Dr Melanie examined my dog and her initial diagnosis was lymphoma. Urgent care MISSED that one and as far as I am concerned so did Otterkill since my dog had an full exam in April with all the blood work and I was informed all was fine. How her health went from fine to stage 4 lymphoma in 2 months seems like a major miss. When I brought this up I was informed that I took good care of my dog who took top notch supplements and was fed human grade food that the vet did not believe this could happen, but it did. I continued with holistic supplements until she passed away on August 6th. That morning I notified Otterkill and DID NOT receive any call or sympathy card or anything, since then. You would think a simple I am sorry about your loss would have been professional and compassionate, BUT NOTHING. My advice please be your vet and advocate. read more

We have been going to Otterkill Animal Hospital for 15 years. We came here back in 2000 for the first time when an emergency cropped up in the middle of the night for our dog and going to Westchester County to our normal Vet was not an option (my wife used to work there as a teenager). Ever since then we have used OAH and have been very happy with that choice. The entire staff cares about your pet, in addition to being very knowledgable. Recently our 14 year old cocker spaniel reached a point where it was the right choice to ease her over the "Rainbow Bridge". Just prior to the procedure, many staff gathered to wish her well and give their condolences and several were crying. What an amazing group they have. Thanks for everything. read more

I have been going to this wonderful place since 1999. Dr. Zagoda was the best vet I have ever had. I used to breed and s how shih tzu so I have had the need for a vet for many years. Sadly it was a terrible loss when he passed away. I personally feel a close relationship with Lauren as she has also known all my dogs.recently I had an emergency and called and was advised by receptionist to go to Wappinger Falls. Impossible for me to get there. Ultimately it cost me over $745. for cab fare, dr.visits etc. to go to another Vet. Very unhappy with the girl who answered the phone. would have been much better if I had been able to reach Lauren. Mrs. Zagoda is also the Vet Tech so we have met many times and I would have felt much more at home. Now I have no idea who is taking over as the veterinarian. read more

Been taking my dogs here for 11 years with no complaints. None. They are caring, knowledgeable and efficient. State of the art services. they're professional but friendly and you never wait long to be seen. Easy to get an appointment even with an emergency. I had an emergency on a Sunday when they're closed but one of the vets called me back in 10 minutes. Like some of the other reviews, I also drive 1/2 hour to Otterkill even though there are several other vets only minutes from my home. they're not the cheapest place around but they're not the most expensive either. I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

We have 3 cats and 2 dogs who always get excellent care at Otterkill. On our recent trip the dogs had a lot of fun greeting everyone and when one of them reacted over dramatically to getting her nails trimmed and set off the other one barking, they both got toys after to make up for it. I was also provided helpful literature on products to consider for future care. The staff are always great with all of them and I feel like they're in good hands. read more
