Stopped in here because of the Yelp reviews. It was a good choice! It was super busy which meant that we had to wait a little longer for our food- 15-20 min. The guy behind the counter made sure to let folks know about the wait. Service was very friendly. Our sandwiches were delicious. We got the special and the original chicken sandwiches. Probably liked the special the best. There is only 1 restroom at this place and it was out at back of the building. Considering how busy it was there was a fairly long wait to use bathroom. That was a the one bummer about this place.

Went here to try their fried chicken sandwich and the reviews are well deserved. The colossal Cajun fried chicken was giant, perfectly crispy and had a great sauce and soft bun. Can seem pricy for $17.95 without fries but like I said is massive. The service was fast and friendly. You order at a counter but there's seating inside including high chairs, booster seats and colouring for kids

Fairplay can be such an unassuming drive through town, but I promise this place is worth the stop. Jam packed of delicious sandwiches, lots of options including vegan choices, there is without a doubt something for everyone. We took recommendations from the worker and landed ourselves with a basket of Cajun fries, the Otto's special chicken sandwich and the cheesesteak plus a large selection of dipping sauces for the fries. Everything was incredible, great portions and flavor, truly not a negative to remark about. Staff was friendly and attentive, vibe easy going, walk up and order and pick a seat, plus outdoor patio space. Will certainly be back

Outstanding chicken sandwiches in the mountains, dubbed America's highest fried chicken. I was on a men's trip and we were staying near Fairplay. We stopped here twice. Both times I ordered their Original Chicken sandwich. Each time we visited, it was busy. Limited parking, a line, sparse seating. The staff was friendly and attentive, personable and calm under pressure. The orders kept coming and they kept steady hands on the fryers pumping out consistently good food. This chicken sandwich was the best I've had. Large, all white meat, quality chicken. It was perfectly fried with a thinner breading. It didn't over power the meat but complemented it. The only topping this sandwich needs is pickles. They were thicker than normal, fresh, crunchy and juicy. The honey butter and fresh toasted bun rounded it all out. The side of fries were good too, crunchy and flavorful. If you're near Fairplay and looking for a good meal, go here. I'd go back.

Spectacular sandwiches at 9500 ft in the Rockies! We were staying near Fairplay for a few weeks this summer/fall and had seen Otto's but never actually stopped there. This time, we made plans to have one dinner there and it was absolutely worth it. I had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, all the way with their serrano slaw and blue cheese dressing and my wife had the Classic. The chicken is absolutely that - a fried whole chicken breast - no marinade, no special flavors - just chicken. No surprises, no "weird" tastes - and the menu is diverse enough that you can find something to match your tastes and appetite, from basic to "everything," as our order shows. There's no skimping on the toppings or flavors. The sweet potato fries were a very nice surprise - they were thicker cut vs. the thing, shoestring types you so often get elsewhere. They had a crisp outside, soft inside and kept their heat well. The hashbrown - both a side and a topping - was perfectly crisp. Now it's someplace that when we're back to Fairplay we'll probably hit again, especially to try to he breakfast burritos others rave about.

5 stars for their bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich! We popped into Fairplay for a quick breakfast while staying in a nearby town and I'm so glad we stopped at Otto's. It's an order-at-the-counter type of place with several tables to dine at and the people working there were very friendly. Their breakfast biscuit sandwich was one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had. The biscuit was super flavorful and moist, didn't crumble apart when biting into it, and was perfectly stuffed with gooey cheddar cheese, fried egg, and crispy bacon. I don't believe it's on their main menu, but for $8 it was such a nice surprise. A place I'd come back to again and again.

We came in the biggest snow storm of the year. We were welcomed warmly with some of the friendliest service I've had in a while. They had crayons and coloring sheets for the kids. The food was as wonderful as the service. The breakfast burrito was baller! Just a perfect stop!

This little food joint was the perfect location to stop and go. Traveling from Cañon City, Colorado to Salt Lake City, Utah and it was the best food we had all weekend! Great Staff, very friendly and opened to give suggestions on food. BEST Sweet Potato Fries I've ever had! The sandwich of the day was the Perfect Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich like no other...with so much flavor. My husband had a breakfast burrito and said it was the best burrito he's had in his life! Loved the vibe it had and we were so glad they had a public bathroom around back with Koala Care for us to change our baby!

We had a BLT with fries, a grilled cheese and chicken tenders for the kids and the food was all very good. We didn't have any of the chicken sandwiches but they looked great. The staff were very friendly. Prices were pretty high, so we split everything for our family of five and still spent $50. My husband and I went here on our vacation. It's a little hole in the wall but the food was very good and filling. I had the breakfast burrito, which was huge my husband had to finish it but man was it good. My husband had what they called the kritzy (I think that's what it was called). This place is extremely overpriced. The staff was very friendly but I paid $53 and got 3 medium sized sandwiches and a burrito. The food was IMO just Not to par. I mean, when you pay more than $50 for three mediocre sandwiches and a burrito and don't even get sides, I mean come on, really? The burrito was flat and the bulk of it was a soggy hash brown they stuff in it. The eggs were over cooked and did not seem to have any salt. I'm sorry, everyone has their own opinion, but I was very disappointed. read more

The food was amazing and I love the paintings inside you can buy them and I got the original chicken sandwich there was butter in it and it was leaking with butter it had like a sweet tang I recommend Otto's and as a app I got the cowboy fries they had a bunch of charm seasoning and a bunch of cheese,bacon. I came in here on a recommendation from a friendly local, and ordered a breakfast burrito. It was piping hot, they made all the ingredients fresh on the griddle, and wrapped it up in a hot tortilla. Absolutely fantastic. They even put the perfect amount of hot sauce in it. The hot sauce was per my request by the way, they don't just assume you want hot sauce. This is possibly the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. If I'm ever hungry in Fairplay again, this is where I'm going. They have lunch options too, and I'm looking forward to trying them. read more

Very pleased with my experience here! My girlfriend, my friend and I were passing through after the Billy Strings festival in bueno vista and were very hungry. Just figured we'd stop here for a quick bite to eat. My friend and I got the breakfast burrito and my girlfriend got the chicken sandwich . The burrito was fantastic and extremely filling. I honestly couldn't love this place anymore. It is always refreshing to walk in to see friendly faces, enjoy the atmosphere and treat myself to the incredible food they offer. Everything I've tried is amazing. From the owner to the manager, the staff to the food, this place is absolutely off the charts! This place is our go-to stop every time we head to or from Buena Vista! Now that we've discovered it, we always, always stop here no matter what! The owner and staff are amazing, and the food and service as well! If you have kiddos they do have a kids menu just ask, or a call-in order is sometimes faster if you're in a hurry(just make sure you're calling the right location!) They're ALWAYS busy, which I hope they stay that way! Go here, it won't disappoint. We've tried just about everything at this point! read more

What a surprise Otto's was! We stopped for lunch on the way through FairPlay. It's easy to miss so look for the sign! I had avocado toast and it was so delicious! My niece had a breakfast burrito that was huge! My friend had BLT with a side of fries and a spicy ranch dipping sauce that was so good. The sweet potato fries are addicting! Overall a bit pricey as everything is ala cart BUT the food quality is excellent and you leave absolutely satisfied and ready to leave a good review!!! read more

History

Established in 2019.

We started out as a small Food Cart in Alma, CO above 10,000'. With love from our customers and great support from our community, we quickly grew into one of the best and most delicious food options in the area. As demand for our quality and service grew, and as our family has gotten larger, we were blessed with the opportunity to open a second location in Fairplay, CO in 2022. We are ever evolving as a business and as people, and are extremely grateful to be in service of our communities, while providing ourselves a great work environment with the opportunity to grow.

Meet the Business Owner: Brian B.

Brian, "Otto", grew up in the restaurant industry and worked every position the service industry has to offer at some point. Brian saw a need for a quality food option in the community as he was builidng a home and a life in the mountians. An opportunity presented itself in the form of a food cart, and the story of Otto's began. The menu is a creation filled with food 'Otto' loves to eat, with influences from the south, the mountains, the midwest, and all of Brian's restaurant experience. Over the last few years, Otto's has grown exponentially, and is proud to serve multiple communities and provide leadership, direction, and a wonderful environment to work in for more than 20 employees. Brian has recently become a father, and his passion for food, community, family, positivity and gratitude is higher than ever before.

My friend ordered a burger that was supposed to come with lettuce, blue cheese, and the works. Instead, it arrived with just chicken and bread. That was it. No toppings at all. The water we were given was also incredibly dirty -- it literally looked grey. Service somehow managed to be both overwhelming and nonexistent. While we were eating, the waiter came back to the table every couple of seconds so we couldn't even have a conversation. But when we were actually ready for the check, suddenly there was no waiter anywhere and we fwaited about 15 minutes. On top of that, every request got mixed up. I asked for blue cheese and after about 10 minutes the waiter came back with ranch. Then I asked for lemon vinaigrette (which the meal was supposed to come with) and instead got honey mustard. After explaining again, she came back with... even more honey mustard. We also paid $10 for fries with green chili and received about 15 fries. And one more thing when paying they did NOT bring my card back for about 20 minutes. It was also extremely dark where we were sitting all of the surrounding lights were off but everywhere else in the resteraunt was perfectly fine Overall the food quality, service, and attention to orders were extremely disappointing. Definitely not an experience I'd repeat don't waste your money here.
