Literally her chair fell into the hole. The waiter offered to comp a salad and said there was another hole on another part of the porch. Don't take grandma upstairs! This is unacceptable. A trip to a Home Depot to get a metal plate and some screws would fix this. But no. They don't care. Check out the pictures. The legs belong to a waiter. Avoid! We chose Bird and Cow mainly because of their quoted wait time on Yelp. It was Spring Break in Breckenridge and everywhere was packed--Eric's Restaurant had a 2-hour wait--so when Bird and Cow showed a 10-minute wait for our party of five (including a very hungry 17-year-old), we added ourselves immediately. When we arrived, there was a medical situation with a guest, and an ambulance came to assist. Obviously, that takes priority, and we were patient and understanding. However, after the situation cleared, we continued waiting another 20 minutes. During that time, several groups who arrived after us were seated first. When I politely asked the host about our status, I was told those groups were seated because they were smaller parties. That didn't appear to be accurate, and when I mentioned that, the response quickly became rude and dismissive. At that point, we decided there was no reason to stay and left for dinner elsewhere. The next day, we ate at Tin Plate Pizza--fantastic food and excellent service. Ironically, while walking past Bird and Cow afterward, we noticed their kitchen area through an open back door, and it did not appear clean or well-kept. In hindsight, we're glad things worked out the way they did--but overall, this was a frustrating experience driven by inaccurate wait times and poor customer service. read more

Service was super fast - my husband and I split the cheesesteak with a side of chili (was craving red beef chili) and a chicken salad. The food was solid - wasn't blown away by anything but it was all tasty (chicken in the salad was super dry, chili was fairly soupy and not the hearty meaty goodness I was anticipating). This was a cute stop just a Black off of Main Street in downtown Breckenridge. Right next to it we have to find a local farmers market, which was a fun place to stop before enjoying this restaurant. We had a dog with us so we had to sit on the rooftop which was fine. It had been windy so they warned us ahead of time that the umbrellas had been taken down so we would have to deal with the sun. We were ok with that. The service was excellent as was the food. My husband said that is smash burger was one of the best he has ever had. I had the trio Italian sandwich. It was excellent also. The cosmopolitans that we had were excellent also. You never know what you're going to get when you order a cosmopolitan. Some are way too sweet. These were perfect. We would go again. read more

On my way to Colorado Springs I stopped by B&C for a quick bite to eat. I will say that their customer service over the phone and in person is great. And the speed in which the food was ready was also great. I just wish that their food tasted a little bit better. My husband had the double cheeseburger with fries and a side of chili and a soda and he said it was good. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with chips and a side of chili and it was okay. The chips were not something made in house, but rather lays ruffles which is just horrible. I hate to say it, but Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich beats the chicken sandwich I had here. Overall, I would only recommend coming here if you are in a rush and or passing through to the next town. I think that this place gets a solid 3 stars and I hope that some of their items on the menu improve. Everything should have added up- they make their own sauces, the meat is local, they imported amorosa bread from Philly, the service was excellent, friendly, and prompt.. but the final meals just fell a little flat. The fries weren't seasoned at all, they charged $2 for honey mustard, and while the sandwiches we ordered sounded inspired, they were missing a complexity of flavor that would have really made everything stand out. The toro Italian had a lot of kick with the peppers, but the meat didn't seem to have any seasoning. The Asian chicken sandwich was burnt, but even had it not been, it didn't have enough sauce on it. That I think was the biggest issue with all the sandwiches we tried- the paucity of sauce made them all kind of dry and sad. For a $20 sandwich, please give me some sauce! Stopped by Bird & Cow and left pretty impressed overall. We ordered the Chip's Cheesesteak and the Breck Birdie, and both came out piping hot and clearly made fresh, which I always appreciate. The Breck Birdie was also really good. The flavors worked well and it was a solid chicken sandwich overall. The fries were pretty standard -- nothing wrong with them, but nothing particularly memorable either. Service was a bit of a miss, though it seemed like they were definitely short staffed when we visited. It took about 15 minutes before we were able to place our order, but once the order was in, the food actually came out pretty quickly. The space itself is casual and comfortable. There are longer communal-style tables that would work well for families or larger groups, along with a mix of smaller 2-4 top tables. There's also a small bar area that seats about six people, which gives it a nice neighborhood hangout feel. Overall: really good sandwiches, hot fresh food, and a relaxed vibe. The gentleman serving at the bar was super helpful/kind when I got the pick up order (the restaurant was too full to eat in, thus the to go order). The only reason I don't give a 5th star is that I would suggest that the restaurant add the ability to make modifications on the online ordering platform (ie ask for no tomatoes on the burger, etc). The only way to do modifications was to call, but during busier times you are put on a 5-10 minute hold (to no fault of the waitors/etc). This is just a friendly suggestion. Came here on a Friday night and amazingly scored a table right away, which was epic as Bird & Cow isn't huge (makes for a great atmosphere in my opinion). Our server was extremely personable off the bat - real pleasant dude. I'm very pregnant and my husband opted out of booze for the night, so I can't speak on the beverages beyond Pepsi and water, but some items sounded pretty quenching. For food, we jumped right into entrees. I had a buffalo chicken wrap which I was happy with, but my mind wasn't blown. My husband had their cheese steak and honestly, I was a little envious - it was very good and clearly where they shine. Finally hit Bird & Cow for breakfast this morning and it was great. I had the bacon and cheese omelette and my wife had the Birdie burrito. Both were excellent. The omelette had a ton of cheese and bacon and perfectly griddle toasted and buttered bread as a side. She raved about all the good stuff in the burrito and the bacon was tasty (call it medium/medium well for you bacon lovers with clear preferences on the level of crisp). And she approved of the potatoes which are her kryptonite. We will be back for the breakfast cheesesteak and pocket birdie. read more

Maybe we went on a bad night but I can't imagine how this place is approaching 5 stars. We arrived on Sunday around 7pm restaurant mostly empty. A large group was being set up so we were ignored. I get that a large group is more complex but the lack of attention after 10+ mins waiting was unusual especially with so many open tables. We eventually sat ourself at the recommendation from someone behind the bar. After sitting another 15mins goes by until we are approached. I order a beer that never arrives. That's annoying, but I talked myself into not needing that beer. Don't worry the large table received their drink orders without issue from the same server. Our food comes out after the large table even though we ordered at the same time. Food was not hot so was probably waiting around for the other tables attention. Food was decent but overpriced. Tip- If one of your servers is dedicated to a table with 12 people get someone to help with other tables so they can have a decent experience. read more
