I was amazed at this place. I didn't know what to expect as we came up to Ohioville for a little weekend getaway. Boy!... what a beautiful surprise. This place in Stone Ridge is just minutes outside of Ohioville but still very close. Melinda was our server and she was extremely attentive. She came back to check on us several times. I got the biscuits and gravy, one of my favorites visiting new places, and I was not disappointed. My girlfriend got the crunchy French toast with strawberry rhubarb drizzle. Both of these items were delicious, new to the menu, and sure to become favorites. Honestly, all items I'm sure are incredible. Just to savor the memory, I bought a The Roost t- shirt. Stopped in on our way to vacation bc my husband has been asking for their fried chicken breast. So he got his chicken order and I tried the chicken biscuit with French fries. Everything was so good! We came here for breakfast and it was good. So we drove 40 minutes for this place and I ordered the breakfast enchilada skillet and it was good. I did want to add chorizo on it but they said no because chorizo was only available for their special dish which they had. The skillet was really delicious; it had the sauce and the fluffy eggs. I would have like some guacamole or something a pico de gallo for a bit of citrus. That is my only suggestion. My niece ordered chicks and waffles and it was good. The chicken was juicy and the waffle was good as well sweet but not overly sweet. We got the chicken wings which were good; my niece said the wings were too crispy but I love a crispy wing. The flavor palette of cheese and garlic worked well especially with the sauce they provide. Overall the meal was good and delicious. I also ordered a warm apple cider and that was good. We also ordered dessert and that was ok; we had something chocolate with ice cream. The chocolate item was really rich. The service was good; the waitress was attentive. The place gives a homey and neighbor atmosphere. So I would not drive 40 minutes again for it; so I would definitely come back if I'm in the area. read more

Came here on the hearty advice of one of our son, who has eaten here. Our experience was disappointing in comparison to his. For us, it has a limited menu & our server told us that no changes to items we might have considered were allowed. The pesto pasta was good, albeit drenched in oil (yes, I know olive oil is one of the ingredients, but this was too much). My husband's 3-piece chicken with tater tots was so dry that he could get down only one of the 3 pieces & left the rest. The tater tots were good. The iced coffee was excellent & hit the spot. The peach crisp was very good as was the brownie with salted caramel ice cream. Our server graciously gave us a nice deduction on our bill when she found out why we did not finish the chicken. This is a laid back place, looks like a lot of folks from town go here, prices are moderate to high, & the 50's vibe of the counter was fun. read more

Ended up coming to The Roost both days, it was that good! Did breakfast/brunch first day and lunch the second. Everything we had was amazing. It's the type of place where you can tell no matter what you order, everything is going to be good. Nice homey ambiance, mom n pop feel, really friendly staff, and super reasonable prices. The setting gives a quaint and cozy vibe. Ambiance rate 8/10. My boyfriend and I ordered the "Build Your Own..." 1. Egg White Omelette w/ mushrooms, sausage, and gruyere cheese: This was a simple, yet delicious omelette. The portion size is generous considering it comes w/ a side salad and french fries. The french fries were alright. Overall rate 8/10. 2. Egg Quesadilla w/ bacon and Parmesan cheese w/ a side of tater tots. This tasted good as well. Unfortunately, the tortilla didn't stick well together being the cheese didn't melt that well. However, the tater tots were nice and crispy. Rate 8/10. Our server was very kind and helpful. He brought a whole bottle of sriracha sauce to the table, and even made a sriracha mayo sauce for my boyfriend. The service wait for food was moderate (15 mins). Service/staff rate 9/10. Went with a large party in fall 2023. This area does not have a lot of competition for midrange restaurants, which often leads to lazy/poor offerings, but The Roost seems to have more integrity than that. The ingredients are fresh and the food is interesting but not weird (IE; it's OK to bring the kids). Service was a touch on the slow side, but the dining room was full and we were a party of 7. They accommodated our seating request (wanted to sit on the screened porch to allay covid fears from some in our party) with no issues. I would definitely stop in again. read more

Tight seating in the porch but we were able to get right in. Delicious food and decent service (although a water refill would have been nice). Large portions and great selection. My only complaint--& it may be my fault--is I ordered the avocado skillet which came with a piece of toast. It was buttered. I asked for a dry piece because I cannot eat dairy, and was charged $1.25. Went here for brunch with friends and was seated outdoors (which was well heated in the winter). All food was served all day so several of us got the Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, which were phenomenal! They were hot, crispy and fresh, with a great bun-- imo they were not very spicy but they were very flavorful. Others in my group enjoyed the breakfast enchiladas and the BLAT sandwich and said those were good as well. The poutine was alright, but might be something to skip since they came in a pretty small bowl and the cheese was not melted at all (gravy was good though). Have been to The Roost several times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and enjoyed the entire experience, each time, along with my companion. The cafe is cozy and clean, service is excellent and the menu seems to have something for everyone. The stuffed French toast was delicious both times, and consistent. Fave starters are the Jalapeño poppers, Buffalo Brussels sprouts, and Sweet Potato cakes. Burgers are made to perfection, along with the Grilled Salmon. The food is awesome and the portions are great as well I had a pork skillet which consisted of buttermilk biscuit, sausage gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs. If you are visiting the area, be sure to make time for breakfast or lunch at The Roost! I am so happy we found them and simply can't recommend a meal here enough. First and foremost, they have incredible coffee. That is very much the most important part of breakfast, right? Strong and piping hot and just very good. The menu was filled with things I wish I could've tried but I wanted a light breakfast so I got the avocado skillet. I really wish I could make this exact dish at home every morning (my attempts don't come close). It was perfectly filling and left me so happy. We were visiting on a chilly few days and their heated porch was packed with people but we opted for two seats at the counter. We didn't have to wait, but I suspect a Saturday or Sunday morning might bring in even more of a crowd. Every detail of this place had thought put into it, you could just tell. And on top of great food, great coffee and a cool space, the waiter and waitresses were all so friendly and gave us some tips on what to do and where to hike that day. My family and I love The Roost! We usually go for breakfast on a weekend and we're always extremely happy with the food and service. My kids especially love the stuffed french toast. I usually go for one of their egg dishes which range from the familiar to the utterly creative. I'm a big fan of interesting egg dishes and I can always find something here to satisfy the craving of the moment. Try the Loco Moco - they really do this Hawaiian Classic justice! A nice pile of brown rice with a hamburger, brown sauce and sunny side egg. YUM! They always have cool daily specials too. Definitely worth your time! read more

An oasis among a town that seems to have not much to it, the Roost was a gem to find. Parking was easy, wifi was available, and there was ample seating to grab a table quickly. We chose the outside area, which was a delight patio. Their menu had a lot of options. Reasonably priced I was able to get two things. I went with the toasted pecan waffle and a myoOmlette (sausage, asparagus, mushrooms, and goat cheese) it comes with a side of chimichurri fries and arugula salad. My hubs got egg sandwich and sunrise salad. Delicious! Large portions! Fresh ingredients! The toasted pecans were chopped up and spread throughout the waffle so each bite was filled with ingredients. It was fluffy, warm, with yummy side butter and syrup. The omelette was so much larger than my eggspectation. The ingredients were cooked with care, clearly fresh and not canned veggies, the goat cheese was spread throughout so each bite was ideal. The fries were crunchy. They put the sauce on perfectly for no sog. The salad was a unique nice addition to the dish making it stand out. The salad had a lot of shredded cheese, it was overwhelming - he had to take some off but luckily he had the egg sandwich to add to. And the bun was a good bun. Wish we lived closer to eat again.
