It's a great day for my baby Cassidy when she knows I went shopping at our feathered friends. The woman who works here is so patient, straight to the point and most of all is not trying to sell you anything. They let me take my time looking around at there very amazing supplies. Such a great variety and most of all they are not ridiculously over priced as most bird stores are... They would absolutely make a killing if they had a food per pound section of seeds, nuts, seeds, etc. The store is very clean and the Cages there are also very great as far as price goes. I so enjoyed getting my birds from here. The employees were all friendly and knowledgeable. I brought my kids and it was a fun experience for all of us. The birds there are beautiful! I walked out with pepper my cockatiel. However, I adored a brown headed parrot. He was so friendly in the cage but the moment you take him out he was a monster and hated being held. There was something about him and I couldn't stop thinking about him once we left, so I went back a couple days later and got my little parrot (Kiwi). It is now a couple weeks later and I have spent a lot of time with Kiwi and he is amazing. He loves being out walking around. Giving me kisses, cuddles and now he is finally stepping up and I'm holding him and he loves it! It took a little time and patience but we got there! Refund was cancelled after selling a terminally ill bird! Purchased a cockatiel and it died 4 days later. Told them it was ill and they told us to bring it back as they had a 5-day guarantee. It became paralyzed and was twisting its neck around. The bird died en route, in front of my child, deeply upsetting her. Now we don't know what we and our other bird have been exposed to. This caused my child to miss a mandatory event. I'm going to have to pay expensive vet and medical bills to get us and my existing healthy bird examined/treated now, PLUS all the extra expenses involved with this experience (gas, supplies, etc.). A nightmare of an experience. On top of it, they cancelled the refund that they issued to my account without notice, for no reason. I deeply regret ever patronizing this business. read more

I've been coming here for years and they are great! They have the absolute best quality and prices of macaw food(or whatever bird you have). I get the big bag of Ultimate Parrot Mix. They have a huge selection of food, toys, perches and cages. Always easy parking. Friendly staff! If you book bought your bird here...they clip talons(and feathers I think) for free. But I too f'n honest like and I pay $15 for talon clippings. They don't do beeks. But what's really nice is they only charge $12/night for boarding. My B&G Yoda loves to chill there when I have to work out of town or take a vacation. Really nice selection of birds too...if you're looking. But please be educated and do your research before you decide to be a bird owner. It really helps to be loving, intelligent, loyal and responsible. read more

After visiting Petco, Petsmart, and Birdsmart with very disappointing results, we ended up here. Hands-down this is the best bird shop of all the places we visited. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. The store is clean, well stocked, and the birds seem genuinely happy. The birds are kept in a large room, separate from the supplies. There's a limit to the number of customers who can go in the bird room at the same time, and all must sanitize their hands before entering. In the bird room, the birds are happily singing, talking, and playing. We were looking for parakeets and they have the best selection, with a wide age range and coloration. We ended up with the two gorgeous budgies in my photos. They were only $34.99 here, but are $39.99 at petco (with limited or no selection), $49.99 at petsmart, and a ridiculous $139.99 at Birdsmart. The gal who helped us (Alison) trimmed the birds' wings and nails. She said we have 1 week to return the birds for any reason, and a 1 year exchange policy (for store credit). They also provide wing & nail trimming free for the lifetime of the birds. They provide cool, shady underground parking. It was an all-around 5-star experience. My only regret is not coming here first. read more

Do Not board your bird at this place. I took my beloved healthy sulfur crested cockatoo there for overnight boarding. I left her there just after 10am on Friday, April 11, 2025. I returned to pick her up the following day, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at around 2:30 in the afternoon. As soon as I saw her I knew something had happened.She clearly had not eaten any of the food that consisted of some sunflower seeds and a half a grape. She was weak and drooping a wing. I asked the owner what happened and she said she was just fine. I carried her to my car and she died in my arms. I called the owner and she again said nothing had happened and she was fine. She clearly could not have cared less. I do not know what happened when I left my precious cockatoo in their care, but something happened and I fully believe they are responsible for her death. read more

Awful.. I always like to stop at bird stores while out of town to buy toys for my own bird. This shop was so dirty and despicable. I refused to buy anything from there because I didn't want to support their store. In particular there were two love birds in one cage. One of the birds had mangled tail feathers that were almost nonexistent. They should have been separated. I should've taken pictures of all the filth but it was so sad we left shortly after arriving. We love coming here! The staff is knowledgeable, patient, and extremely helpful. One of our feathered baby unexpectedly passed away. We stop by to visit with no expectations to purchase another baby. The staff was understanding and over the course of 2 days approximately 6 hours total of just hanging out there we came home with a new baby. This baby was not hand fed or handle. Rafael made sure we were completely informed and told us about their wonderful policy on returns/exchange if it didn't work out. Unfortunately, this baby did not work for our family and we took him back. They worked with us to find a perfect match for our family of 6. We are absolutely in love with our new feathered baby. AWFUL!!!! they have good cages and food for sale, lots of extremely unhealthy toys. Their "nursery" is despicable, sick small birds stuck in a room as big as a bathroom. Their other holding area for their bigger or older birds is equally as bad - soooo many of the birds are ALREADY plucking their feathers at a young age out of stress. It's so loud, no natural sunlight, extremely improper diets and small cages. It's SAD and SCARY and DOES NOT encourage a loving passion for these beautiful animals. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach, EVERYTIME I go back it gets worse! I got my cockatiel here, and she was so sick I spent 2000+ on vet bills for the first year - I don't regret it because I love her to pieces.... But If I weren't as knowledgeable about bird care, I don't think she would be still alive abd kicking. I hope they up their standards....OR i hope they get reported so many times that these birds get transferred somewhere else.... next time I will get photos of all the unhealthy practices read more

On 12/18 I took my bird in here for a routine nail and flight feather trim. They were in such a careless rush that they clipped way too many feathers and clipped way too far down them. They clipped primary and secondary feathers!! It should only be about the first 5 primary's! His clipped ends were also jagged and would poke him when his wings were folded in. This negligent trim meant that he was not able to safely glide down to the floor if he were to attempt to fly, like a proper trim would allow. Because of this whenever my bird would attempt to fly or jump off of something he would hit the floor very hard every time. This eventually resulted in the death of my bird after he broke two blood feathers due to not being able to safely glide down to the floor and clumsy flying due to the bad trimming. TLRD: My bird is dead as a result of negligent trimming, never ever go here for a trim. read more

This store always has a fair amount of supplies, toys, perches, and really anything you might need for your pet birds! There always is a fair selection of live birds available for purchase as well. One major benefit of this store is that it's located very central in mission valley and right next to a farmers market! If I wore to improve anything in this store it might be to increase the number of employees since at times or can be a small wait to either check out or get your bird groomed. They have boarding there as well but I'm never a fan of boarding your parrot at any strange place, especially a bird store. No sure the bird will get much attention while you are away on vacation. I'd much rather select an avian vet clinic. read more

We're re-homing a parrot, so we need to learn as much as we can about them, and we have some supplies to stock up on. I was looking at cages - of course new ones are fairly expensive, but they also had two used ones in the back for very reasonable prices, that I would have bought if I'd come here first. I checked out the store, then a german-sounding guy whose name I can't remember answered a bunch of my questions about enclosures and feeding and such. Seemed very knowledgeable. They have a "sister" store in Escondido which will be more convenient for us. We will certainly be back to one or the other (or both!) read more

This is my third review concerning the same purchase. I purchased a baby Cockatiel here (sex not known). It cost around $160.00 because it had a "pearl" coloring. They sell regular "grays", for about $130.00. What I don't appreciate is that after I get home, and do more research, I find that you don't find out the sex until the first molting which can be anywhere between 4 to 12months when the males change colors. Guess what colors the males end up turning into? Ans. A regular gray color. So if my bird ends up being a male, why should I have been charged extra for the "pearl" coloring? read more

Second, Our Feathered Friends shop is very clean, has bird supplies including medicine. They have an enclosed bird area with all sorts of birds including finches that is super clean. The staff is helpful, attentive and happy to help you. I purchased two finches from another store. I found out that one of my new finches was sick and had air sac mites. After making a dozen calls, I called found Our Feather Friends. The guy that answered the phone was kind, knowledgeable and help me. I wish I knew about this store before I purchased my finches from another pet store. I purchased finch feed, supplies and medicine. I highly recommend this store to all bird lovers. read more

This is a special place and everyone who works here is so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. I was referred here by a girl who worked at Petco who deterred us from buying from them and to go here instead. I am so grateful for her recommendation. We visited a few times and asked a lot of questions before purchasing a bird and never did we feel we were a burden or taking up their time. These people really care about the animals and the homes they go into. We had the idea of getting a certain bird but with some questions and direction from the employees here, we ended up with our baby Tiki who is a yellow sided green cheek conure. We were able to spend time with the bird and visit until we were ready to bring tiki home which helped both the bird and also us. I'd refer anyone looking into getting a bird to come here. It's true that the bird picked us instead of us picking which one "looked" like the one we wanted. We even board tiki here when we go on trips and we rest assure knowing she's in the best hands with them.
