Our drivers arrived intoxicated - seeking further "refreshments" - and did everything they could to ensure our property was not delivered safely, or undamaged. Jonathan and his crew are reliable and work fast! They were friendly and courteous.. Workers were helpful even helping carry a small load of personal items up a flight of stairs. The pricing is great for people's budgets. The sales staff are very thorough in itemizing items to be moved. They were very helpful and if you had any questions you can easily email or call them to get a reply back. All of our items were well taken care of and put back together. Out of The Box Moving Solutions is NOT the solution to your problems! The movers were over scheduled, and the team didn't show up at our house until the afternoon. It was a big job and they should have allowed for ample time to do it. Jonathan was amazing (he is the only reason this is not a 1-star review) but the rest of his crew were completely INEXPERIENCED, unprofessional, slow and careless. Do not use this company for your move, especially for your cross country move. Please. I mean it. Protect yourself, read your rights, and get good insurance no matter what company you go with. Check out FMSCA.gov. I moved from Los Angeles to New York City and was guaranteed my delivery would arrive within 30 days of my arrival to New York. An employee named Lauren was very thorough with the sales aspect, but as soon as I booked the move, I never heard from her again despite having more questions. The movers came on time and picked up my items and all was fine. Jonathan and the other gentleman were quick and kind. At twenty days into the window, I texted the number at which I had been corresponding with Lauren asking for an update and Nikki replied saying she was checking and would get back to me. Four days later, after not hearing anything, I texted again. Nikki apologized and said she would check. She then called me and said Lauren is no longer with the company and that's why she doesn't know where my items are and was waiting to hear back from the "operations team". I texted the next day asking for another update as I was now scared my items were lost. She said my items were not lost but to give them a 48 hour window to get back to me. Two days later, it was the 30th day in which I was guaranteed to have my items, and asked for another update. I got an email that evening stating my items were in storage in California and would be picked up two days later. I had already been sleeping on an air mattress for 30 days (as I was having my mattress moved), started a new job and was out of clothing to wear to the office, all while my items were sitting in storage. I texted asking when I could expect my items delivered and Nikki asked me to respond via email. This is when Ori, the owner, comes in. He told me I did not fill out a "ready for delivery" portion of my agreement and that's why they didn't know I was ready for my items to be picked up. (Despite Lauren and I having written communications confirming the day I would arrive in New York and the 30 day window from then.) This was a small box that said "first delivery date available" on the agreement the movers had me sign on pick up day and I was not instructed to fill out this small box. I also found in the movers rights handbook that this is the moving company's responsibility to enter this date onto the agreement, not mine like Ori claimed (which I said to him and he ignored). Ori told me he couldn't give me an idea of when to expect my items. He said he could "probably" tell me on Monday. (It was Friday night at this point). He was not apologetic at all and wouldn't speak to me on the phone as he said everything needed to be in writing. At this point I dove deeper into reviews that my initial search and saw that others who did cross country movers got their items way beyond the 30-day window and that many items were broken or completely missing and that they never got them back. I quickly decided I wanted to cancel the move and have someone pick up my items and find some other way to get them to me safely. I paid $1k (half of the total) when the movers picked up my items in LA. In trying to arrange this pickup, I stated I assumed my money would be refunded as they failed to provide the service that was guaranteed. Ori said he would look into it to see what I would get refunded IF ANY, and said I needed to pay $135/hr in cash to have a mover meet someone to pick up my items from storage. I told him I was advised I should receive a full refund as he failed to uphold the agreement and he told me he would only speak to an attorney. I said if it gets that that point I will gladly have an attorney reach out and I also would file a complaint with BBB and the FMSCA if we couldn't come to an agreement. He said it was my "right" to do so if I wanted, but once was notified of my BBB complaint, he emailed me minutes later telling me I had 48 hours to pick up my items. I had to email him three times and call the office multiple times after this to ask for the address of where my items were located so I could have someone pick them up. After many attempts, I was given an address that's a Public Storage unit. I had someone meet at the storage unit and Jonathan was there again to help retrieve the items. He was professional again. It's the owner Ori who is incredibly unprofessional and very, very sneaky. I paid in cash to comply and get my items back, and am still waiting to see if I get refunded. I had to buy a mattress, new clothes (as it is now much hotter than it was expected to be within that 30 day window) and many household items. I don't know if I'm getting a refund and I have to pay someone else to move my items to me. This made a stressful move a million times more stressful. Infuriating. Genuinely the most unprofessional experience I've ever had with a business. I didn't know moving was such a scammy industry so please protect yourself. read more

I truly wish I could give lower stars. We used them about a year and half ago and are still discovering items they damaged in our move from LA to GA. They lost over $1000 worth of our items, caused another $3500 worth of damages and offered us $68.00 for our "troubles." Granted, our naïveté got the best of us and we assumed that this wasn't going to happen and did not invest in the highest level of protection. But you'd think a moving company would know what they're doing. Customer service is abhorrent. Both my partner and I have over 10 years combined experience working in both and know that it's a tough job. But it should not take multiple emails and phone calls to find information. The day they arrived to pack our things we hadn't heard from them until 15 minutes before. Worth noting the agent I spoke with when booking said we would get a call minimum 24 hours before. NOPE! Then when they did arrive the movers actively argued, began claiming that items weren't on their pack list and began to charge us over and over. We were then told to give them a two week heads up to when we wanted to receive our things and all in all it took about 45 days to receive after we contacted them saying we were going to arrive. Thankfully we had family in the area, and could stay with them, but I couldn't imagine the hotel costs if we hadn't. Ori the owner/manager is impossible to get ahold of and was apparently the only person with any information. So expect run arounds and transfers after you've paid. Stay away. Do not use this company. I give them one star because the delivery gentlemen were great... which by the way, they were hired by a subcontractor so they're not even with this company. That's right ! This company hires delivery drivers so your stuff is loaded and unloaded SEVERAL TIMES. Needless to say, my FAVORITE PIECE OF FURNITURE WAS DESTROYED, it was delivered in pieces. And a lot of my stuff arrived chipped, and broken. I waited over 3 weeks to get my stuff delivered. ABOUT DAVE: One day prior to the delivery(17hrs), the subcontractor called me to let me know there was an outrageous additional fee because he thought his truck wasn't going to make it up my drive way and he had to rent a smaller truck. Thankfully that was resolved with the help of Ori (a manager from this company)the day before my delivery. Mean, horrible Dave decided to call me an hour before my delivery to tell me I'm responsible for the outrageous extra fee from their subcontractor.... even though just hours before, his manager had reassured me that I was not responsible for said fee. Dave, and his horrible attitude, almost demanded that I call his manager and take it up with him. I explained to Dave that i had already resolved this with his manager but he basically called me a liar so I asked for all 3 of us to have a joint call to avoid miscommunication so he put me on hold. When he came back on the line, he dismissed me of the extra charges. Of course, he did not apologize for his attitude or his accusations, which made me realize how horrible these people are. I put out a search through a 3rd party to put me in touch with movers. I had several movers call me for a quote including OOB. The representative, Anna, called me, and before she could get started, I let her know of the most affordable quote I had received. I'd done this a few times before with other companies who called, and they all said it was a great quote, and said their goodbyes. Anna, on the other hand, continued to raise her voice and talk over me, seemingly to badger me into shutting up and agreeing to her terms. She quoted me the HIGHEST rate and kept raising her voice and telling me why it's better: "we don't don't charge gas, we don't charge double drive time, etc, etc." I'm moving a 1 bedroom apartment 6 miles away to a storage unit. Even if it's triple gas and drive time, I won't come near the amount she quoted *ahem* yelled at me. She was so unprofessional, rude, and discourteous. I wouldn't move with them if you paid me. If you're that rude when you're trying to GET my business, how rude are you when you HAVE it??? No thanks. UPDATE: 7/28 Within the hour from writing this review, I missed a call from Joe and got a voicemail asking to call. him. He said that writing Yelp reviews is "a privilege reserved to customers, and not just random people who talk to us. It just doesn't work like that." And that if i'm not a customer and tarnish their name, they "go ahead and do something about it, as far as recourse goes..." I gave Joe a call right back, and he stated that I wasn't allowed to make a Yelp review because I was never a customer. He said that he was present when Anna made the call and she was not yelling. Fine. It may have been my perception that her voice was raised, but I won't argue that point. He continued on to say that he flagged my Yelp review and it was going to be taken down. I told him, "if it's going to be taken down, then there's nothing more for us to discuss." He told me "no" in response to that statement, which is confusing to me. If you wanted the bad review removed, and it was being removed, then you got what you wanted and I'm not arguing it. The gentleman continued on with what I felt were bullying statements, citing "defamation" and "recourse" several times. It felt very similar to the conversation I had earlier that morning with Anna; as if I were being badgered into shutting up and cowering. I ended the conversation stating that If that was the conversation he wanted to have, then he could have it with my lawyer. To my understanding defamation and libel are only valid if what is claimed is untrue. With the exception of the perception of voice tone, which is opinion, nothing I have said in my review is untrue. This is merely an account of my experience with a company, which I believe Yelp reviews are for. I love writing positive reviews! But most importantly, I leave ones accurate to my experience. And unfortunately, this was MY personal experience of my encounter with OOB. Overall, they have 4/5 stars, so it's been a positive experience for others. Do YOUR due diligence and read as many reviews as you can. Don't ever base your judgement on the words of one person. UPDATE: After I updated my review, I get yet another sarcastic, snarky responses. I'm not the only person who wrote a negative review. I do NOT have to have patronized your establishment, but merely have personal contact. I do not have to purchase to be a customer. Every single one of my encounters has been negative. I feel it is my duty to be clear about my experiences. I tried to de escalate this several times, even warning consumers to check other reviews. We had to relocate from LA to SJ with little prep time. I contacted a few companies and unlike other movers, OOB assured me of the firm price which included wrapping furniture with no extra cost. After reviewing several estimates, OOB was a competitive price but like I said, it included wrapped furniture with no extra cost. A few things to be aware of: 1). Make sure your estimate includes every box, every furniture item, and every picture, fan, rug, etc. The cost does rise if they're not included in the original estimate. I was off by about 10 boxes and forgot a few items, so my estimate did go up by not because they did something wrong. And it would have been so with any other company. A). There is a disconnect from the sales office to the storage facility. Though my estimate did change from the original estimate, I had an itemized list. The pick up movers, had an exact list that I had and loaded. Then when I got a delivery call, the caller said we owed much more money than what was on my contract. They tried to add more items, then she said, I had electronically approved an estimate at 330pm (hours after the guys had left w/my belongings) saying I approved more items on the truck. They counted 10 extra items, added it my estimate and forged my signature. An example, my list said- Radio Flyer (which is a tricycle), they said, I did not have a tricycle on my list therefore I added it, they accounted for it. They didn't know Radio Flyer was the bike. So it was a lie. I contacted Danny and he did resolve the confusion about my estimate and eventually; everyone was on the same page about the balance owed. 2). Make sure you account for stairs, there is an extra cost. Luckily this was not an issue for me and also, how far away your delivery will be away from the where the truck parks. These are things to be aware of. I again didn't have an issue with this, our place had a freight elevator which was close to the truck. The guys who picked up were young but professional. They came to work and that's what they did. They kept a precise list, which accounted for every item on my estimate, on their packing list, and on my inventory list. I suggest if moving a distance (where your furniture will arrive days after you do, make an inventory list of furniture, loose items, and number your boxes (keep notes of what is in them). This helped my husband who received the delivery when I was not home. Daniel Cohen was my point of contact and he made sure everything was good by checking up on me during the process. The storage is in a different location than his office. Like I said above Danny took care of the confusion and clarified with the other location and apologized. Honest and integrity! However I never got an explanation about the "faked" authorized signature at 330 from anyone. Victor and Tariq were my pick up guys. They've got a tough job but did a great job and had a great attitude. Not sure who delivered, I wasn't there. Here is where the real disappointment comes. 1). When they deliver, you pay up front before any items are taken off the truck. This is so when you see any damage; they've been paid- you have to file a claim. 2). My husband didn't unpack or unwrap anything. He had his bed and that was enough. I went up a week later and began to unpack.. Well let me say, I can't recommend this company for what happened between my house, their storage, and my new home. I think I know what happened. Danny told me, my furniture was in one truck on its way to SJ. They experienced mechanical problems. Drove back to the warehouse, unloaded my stuff and put it onto another truck. This irritated the drivers/loaders. Already a long day, with a long drive ahead of them. So they threw my stuff around without care. Clearly!!! Besides they arrived to SJ at 6pm. I just got back and my first priority was to update my recommendation to a "non" recommendation. List of damaged items: 1). 42" TV, the screen was clearly punctured with something. It doesn't work at all. 2). A leg to an antique table is damaged, the mounted screw which connects it is bent beyond repair. 3). A white china cabinet, the back was pushed up against something because though it didn't break all the way through, it cracked it. I know because I had just restored this item, fresh paint and now the broken wood crack is obvious against the white paint. 4). A side table, cracked and the top is loose now. 5). Boxes not only labeled fragile, I had bright red tape across every fragile box and wrote on the tape, fragile: My grandmothers lead crystal wine glass broken My grandmothers lead crystal dinner glass broken My grandmothers christmas china (2 coffee cups) broken A devil egg platter broken Antique marble book ends chipped, the box was dropped because it was broken and smashed in the corner. I would never recommend this company. What can I say. Boooooooooo. Estimate given was off by $1000, which we had to pay of course because they upped it on us the day we moved and we had no choice. For a full house of heavy furniture and lots of boxes, etc... they sent 3 movers. Not great movers or packers. They expected us to buy them all meals and hinted that if we tipped them well they would do a good job. Fail. They broke our TV's, and destroyed our well packed glassware. When they brought in the boxes with busted glassware, some fine glass pieces came out of the boxes and damaged the wood floor of the new place we moved to. They also destroyed the mechanism of my sit-stand desk and somehow they broke our treadmill beyond repair. We knew that the moving company's insurance clause would only cover pennies of the value that they actually destroyed, yet we pursued a claim anyway and got the run around ending with zero monies paid to us. In fact, after around 3 months of efforts on our part to claim damages, we just gave up. Excuse after excuse. Useless. read more

They removed all the materials as promised. Because my couch couldn't fit in the elevator they used the stair well. I moved from Long Beach CA to Richmond CA. The best thing about OOB Solutions is that the prices are reasonable and if you need to have stuff stored while you look for a place, the extra charge is minimal, whereas, with the big movers, you'll have to pay for another load/unload in/out of storage. Also I did not get charged anything beyond what was agreed to. And Ori was very good about getting my stuff delivered at the other end with only a wait of a few days, well within the week that they promise. But the attitude towards my stuff was pretty lax. Maybe all low-cost movers break things. Maybe if you have nice stuff, you should hire a bigger moving company. Their attitude seems to be - "stuff will get broken, buy insurance if you're concerned about it". That might work if you have expensive items you'd just as soon replace at full value. But what about things with sentimental value? Better carry yourself. Fortunately, in my case, no heirlooms were broken. They scratched my heirloom wood chairs and got a permanent black spot on my $1000 white couch. Everything else was junk that broke - my TV stand, a fan, several dishes, and glasses. But it's the principle of it. Also, the guys who delivered the stuff did not have communication with the guys who packed it. I kept records of everything shipped and contents of boxes that I packed. But the loaders packed some furniture items together and neither I nor the unloaders had any record of that. When they unloaded, they didn't know what was what and I wasn't so sure myself! I still have a cross board that goes in my Amish dresser, but there's no way to put it in. Did somebody remove fasteners that were there ? No record whatsoever. Also, despite telling me they would remove all their stickers, I found items later still wrapped in sticky tape, some of which didn't all remove. I had a wonderful experience with a very professional team. They offered the best price on the market with great customer service. The first team came on-time and wrapped my furniture and bed very well and delivery was great as well on a rainy day. Both teams were quite fast. All my items arrived without any scratches. They had even secured my bike's lock that had fallen. The delivery had about a week delay. I was not in a hurry but after reading some of the reviews here, I became a bit anxious but their management assured me that my belongings would come in the same shape and he was correct. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! Such a liar! I was confirmed for a specific delivery date on the phone but after they moved my stuff, they changed their words. It took them 10 days to deliver my stuff from LA to the Bay Area after I called them 4,5 times to complain about it. They said they will work on that, they will check the phone audio, but they didn't do anything at all. They even told me that they will postpone the delivery after I called and after they said they will work on it. I have to sleep on the floor for a week and have to buy another mattress while waiting for them to deliver my stuff. This is not miscommunication, this is dishonesty! read more

The damn stickers they put on everything DON'T COME OFF!! Keep an eye on your goods that don't go in boxes. We now have white paper streaks on so many of our things from attempting to scrape stickers off. The company did make it easy to get a quote, just be accurate with what you have because adding items that don't fit into boxes add $100+ each update. Movers are nice and work with you to get everything onto the truck. **Request wardrobe boxes for all the Knick knacks you didn't think off. They were a space saver! They did "lose" one of our cat trees. We called to request they look and never heard back. Very annoying but luckily it isn't something irreplaceable. I used this company to move from San Francisco area down to So Cal. First problem: the drivers did not know how to maneuver the moving truck up the steep hill to my house. We literally waited for over 4 hours while they tried to figure it out. They finally called another driver who was able to bring the truck to the house. THEN: The day of the move in, I notice that my final invoice was quite a bit more than what I had been quoted(at least $200). When I asked why, the driver called his office & put me on the line with one of the managers. Apparently, when leaving my house in San Fran, the drivers had to call a tow truck to get the moving truck back down the hill! And they added that fee to my estimate. This was the 1st I had heard of this, and I was livid! How can they charge me because their drivers don't know how to drive their trucks. I told this to the manager on the phone, who basically told me that they would not unload the truck until I paid them! So basically they were holding my furniture hostage! After about an hour of screaming and yelling back and forth, the manager chose to "split the cost" of the tow truck with me. I paid it, but I was (and still am) furious about the whole thing. You would think that a moving company would make sure their drivers had the necessary skills to drive in any condition. He said it was my fault because I didn't tell them there were hills. I say it's their fault because A) EVERYONE knows that the bay area is KNOWN for having crazy hills, and B) they should have mapped it out & done their research before they took the job! Wow!! I am very happy to leave this review! We had reserved a moving company (not to be named) to help us out this last Wednesday the 20th. The morning they got to us they kept saying they need and extra mover and extra materials, that they didn't bring enough and it was going to be almost double from what they said on the phone initially. We lost our initial deposit and told them to KICK ROCKS! This was our first time using a mover and it definitely put a sour taste in our mouth. We reluctantly did further research online and found OOB around lunchtime that day! I cannot describe how impressed I was with OOB and the Crew they had sent to help us out. Especially after having to hire OOB last minute they even came out that same day!! I will definitely be recommending OOB to everybody I know! They were amazing at fitting everything on there and they also took inventory on everything. I didn't realize how much stuff I really had but they helped me out big time. This place is a complete scam! Do not use! First of all they were supposed to come between 10am-2pm. THEY ARRIVED AT 6pm!! They call at 8:30 and say they are on their way to San Diego from LA to meet me at my small storage unit and would be there in a couple hours. They call at 12 pm to say their battery died and would call me back. 2 hours later and I still do not hear from them so I call. They're really rude to me and annoyed when I ask what is going on. They say "they don't know what's going on". An hour later they call and say they are getting their battery replaced and will leave LA after. But they said they left at 8:30 am so why at 3 pm are they in LA Still? They lied. When they finally arrive they're driving erratically and do not apologize for making me wait at a storage unit the entire day. They were also smoking tons of cigarettes. Then when they look at my unit they claim there's items in there I didn't mention. Well when I called and made the reservation I was clear that I wasn't specifically sure exactly how many boxes because it was a storage unit in a different city. The man said that was totally fine they just needed a general estimate. There was maybe like two extra boxes and a couple things and needed to be thrown into a box(these were NOT all my life possessions I had moved the majority of my things myself). They said if I didn't give them $100 cash they would charge me per extra item. WHAT!?!? I was being black mailed! As a young girl being yelled at and extorted by these men I was baffled and scared so I paid them with what little money I had. I called the company asking to speak to the manager and was basically not allowed to. The receptionist said all questions had to go through her. As I explained how these lying men where were HOURS late were extorting me she simply said they would refund me $50. THATS IT!?! For wasting my ENTIRE day and putting me through all this plus an extra $100!? When all was unloaded they made me unpack my boxes and said they wouldn't leave until I did which was EXTRA WEIRD. They left marks all over my couch and several items I owned had to be thrown out. I was in tears the whole day and didn't know what to do. For a SMALL storage unit with a few items it cost me over $800. Plus and entire day, extortion, and my sanity. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else please. read more

DON'T USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. Ok. At first I thought these guys were great, even though they gouged my wood floor as they dragged my dog crate from the dining area and had to use my tools to take the bedframe apart. They were fast and I didn't have to lift a finger and I was stressed out because my move was unexpected. And then... my items arrived. In addition to damage caused to my headboard and the foot of the horizontal bedframe support beam, book case (that's over 6' tall), desk, and hutch (which they called a tv stand, even though it's not, and therefore it's valued less in the insurance claim), they will still charge you more than the quote if you under-guesstimate the number of boxes and pack a higher number than you thought. Let's be honest, what every day joe can truly guess how many boxes it will take to pack a one bedroom apartment? Not that many can do it accurately. And they didn't have to provide the boxes or pack them, I just had a few more than I orignially guessed I would need. You know, I wouldn't even care about the extra charge if my items had arrived unharmed. Or, if the insurance settlement was truly based on the weight of the actual piece of furniture that was damaged. But, it's not. And items did arrive damaged. AND IT'S ALL THE FRIGGING ITEMS THAT THEY AGREED TO PACK IN MY CONTRACT AND ORIGINAL QUOTE WITH THIER LABORERS AND THEIR BLANKETS AND THEIR PACKING TAPE. The insurance asks you to provide proof and measurements and estimate the weight and then they just ignore that and basically give you a value based on what the items are called. For example, tv stand is what the movers labeled my hutch on moving day because I happened to have my tv on it in the apartment. It's not actually a tv stand and it was less than a year old and I paid $800 for it, so it's not some DIY particle board cheap thing. But, these movers called it a tv stand and therefore it's value to repair damages to the front door that they completely broke off equal less than $30. And when you contest this meager sum they say, "Sorry, this is the amount that OOB Moving Solutions has agreed to pay and they will not pay any more." So basically, we broke your stuff, sucks to be you. It should also be stated that everything I packed myself arrived perfectly. read more

The experience with packers and movers is worst! 1] They charged me 100$ extra for having a lot of small boxes where actually intention was forcing m,e to buy a big box from them which is additionally 45$ 2]They packed my 5 gallon aquarium without a single padding 3]I took my new place asked them to deliver before 6 days of my actual delivery date and all of a sudden they call me they said that if I cant have the delivery in next two days the actual delivery will happen after 9 days 4]Finally after so many follow ups my stuff comes and I found one of box is missing and in whcih I had a lot of dvds and some other elecctronics item They promised me that they will find the Box but I never found. My aquarium was broken 5]After one month of my missing box they ask me to submit for claim and they ask me to upload picture and lot of stuff. Finall the setllement comes and they said that it will be of 9$ for around 20 DVDs and some other electronics items and a broken aquarium. Please be careful of this moving company!! read more

Would rate zero stars for the company's lack of professionalism and customer service. Did a long distance move from LA to Northern CA. Company claimed truck broke down, did bother calling until I called several times. I had to call, email, request to speak to GM over and over. I received my items ten days after they picked up. Ten days sleeping on wood floors with no dishes. Clothes reeked like smoke, had to dry clean and toss some. They paid $50 for the inconvenience. The movers themselves were decent, but not worth the money charged, the hassle, run around from the company. Do yourself a favor and look for a reputable moving company. read more

At first they seem like a good company, they engage you with good pricing. But the moving service and customer service are deplorable. First, one of the movers kept going to the bathroom, and he would stay in there for a while. I caught another mover checking the inside of my dresser drawer instead of packing. The next day after the move I found that two of my furniture were damage. Some jewelry were missing but I decided to finish unpacking everything before I made any claim. Now that I finish unpacking all my belongings I'm completely sure that two expensive necklaces (and other not so expensive jewelry) are missing. I contacted their "insurance" department which isn't really an insurance department. I been waiting for 2 months for a response and i haven't heard back from them. At this point i will be filing a police report. I'm displeased with this company and the movers. I can't believe that after treating them nicely, we fed them and gave them a tip, they stole from me. This was by far the furthest I've ever moved in one trip (Inland Empire to SF Bay), and quite frankly it was the smoothest and easiest move I've done with professional movers. We shopped around and these guys actually quoted us one of the highest prices, but by BS detector didn't go off once while talking to Joe. We were also told we'd be charged per-item rather than by square footage or weight. This is a thing I can understand. My wife read some bad Yelp reviews and we discovered we had about 30% more boxes than we itemized, and got a little scared we'd get screwed. The updated price was less than $50 more than the initial estimate, and everything still worked out exactly as originally planned. My wife's starting date at the new job got pushed up to 48 hours after our scheduled move-in date so we needed to make sure the delivery date was a little less fuzzy than a window of a few business days (she needs her suits etc). We had a back and forth for a few days with the company and finally spent the extra money for the guaranteed delivery. This was a good call and the guys were PUNCTUAL. Like waiting at the apartment complex as we were getting our keys. Moving day, we had a crew of three. They packed out our two bedroom house in a little under an hour, and two of them were at the new place and had us unpacked in 45 minutes. Thanks Carlos, Jason, Dejuan. The thing I liked about the pricing is that after all was said and done it was quite reasonable, and we got a set-in-stone estimate based on the number of items in writing AND an additional guarantee in writing that the price would not exceed a specific amount no matter what. The first time I used OOB movers, it was 5 months ago for an LA to SF move. They were wonderful. I recommended them to everyone. I was so happy. Now due to unforeseen events, I'm moving back to LA from SF. So naturally, I chose them again. This time it's been rough. First they called to tell me my original pick up date of Friday Oct. 23 couldn't be honored because another move they picked up had more items than they reported. I completely understood. I had to entirely rearrange my plans to get down to LA because the soonest they could NOW pick up was Sunday the 25th. This was supposed to me my move in date. So, I was nice about it and all, and Joe (whom I was speaking with) assured me id be first pick up Sunday morning. Then, Friday afternoon Jennifer called me and told me we would have a pick up between 2-6pm. I was obviously upset because that would put us in LA in the wee hours of the AM, not to mention we would be unconvincing our friends we now need to stay with because of the original change. I explained to her that Joe had assured me we would be the first pick up Sunday. I called back and spoke with Joe who promised me we would have a pick up between 8-11am. He said it was just a miscommunication but I'd be first thing Sunday AM. I felt more assured. Well here we are. It's 10min til 11 on Sunday, so I call them up and they say I'm scheduled for 8-12pm. That hour may not seem like a huge difference. But it is the difference between arriving in LA at 7 vs 9. I'm extremely mad. It's almost 11. No call from the movers yet to say they're close. Nothing. I'm so extremely disappointed. Last time was so perfectly done. And this time I feel like they're just really not treating me well. Especially as a return customer who has referred them business. I will update this when and if they show up on time or late. But as of now, I regret using them a second time. And I am quite upset. read more

The nightmare continues, called yesterday and "Mike" tell us it will be there between 1100-1300 hrs, that was 24 hours ago. And since they don't know how to communicate with their customers, they left us hanging again. They do keep bringing up that they have "Seven Business" days to deliver your things, apparently they are planing to do just that and not tell you when. This is a business that lacks integrity and honesty, I have yet to talk to anyone in that place that tells the truth. They will tell you anything to get you off their backs and it's never their fault because the contract says so. That the owner allows this kind of behavior from his employees, doesn't bother to find out why and is so proud of his employees that the customer is left out to fend for her/himself is to me still baffling. With so many choices out there to take this approach to the customers is as irresponsible as giving false delivery dates and times and failing to inform the customer of issues. Caveat Emptor folks, but whatever you do avoid this business like you would Cholesterol because both behave in the same manner. **DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS **LIARS & UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF EVER For Five days they have told us delivery will be there between 11-2, another No show !! Five days of these unprofessional, lying, unorganized, rude people. The owner must be really proud of his petty, lying, deceptive staff, for him to allow this behavior to continue. read more

The moving experience from northern California to southern California was very painless, and company worked with me very closely to meet my needs. Each representative was professional and courteous. When they say "we guarantee the price" they mean it! I estimated as closely as I could in the number of items. And I've used moving companies before where there was some back-end upcharge. Not with Out of the Box. They were tardy. One hour late at pick up and 2 hours late at delivery, pushing back my finish times at each end. But you know what... I haven't worked with a moving company yet that was exactly on-time, in either direction, and once a my apartment was delivered two days late! So, I have a bit of perspective on this one. Their men, 4 of them, including Darry, the Leader, were very professional and courteous. We will hire OBO AGAIN when our new home is completed in the next 1.5 years. I am SO saddened to see these poor reviews because both I, and my (super picky and particular ) boyfriend both had amazing experiences with this company. Moving from LA to SF is just stressful. How can it not be? But I chose this company based on the *glowing reviews* from my boyfriend. After looking at his estimate, I noticed a byline that said "30 days free storage". Woah wait...I CAN STORE MY THINGS...and not move them in anywhere?! And get 30 days free and pay after and NOT deal with the hassle of moving in/out storage myself? YES YES AND YES. This is SO perfect for if you want to move to the Bay, and wait until you find *the* perfect place that wont bankrupt you in the process. Anyway so I had a breeze with the phone consultation, no qualms and Joe was great. The drivers (Jesus and Jesse) arrived perfectly on time, and let me tell you they were so polite, sweet and cordial. I was really stressed because it was my last day at work, AND I was moving out the same day and I was admittedly running a bit late due to a surprise soiree in my honor. Both Jesus and Jesse were so accommodating, and grabbed a bite to eat while I devoured cupcakes with my coworkers for 15 minutes. I'm not saying you should make them wait (they're great, don't be an asshole) but I did and life happens and they had nothing but the best attitude about it. When it came to packing/moving, they were again polite, fast and so cordial. They noticed my (lackluster) packing job and helped seal up the things they thought may not make such a move, and I really appreciated that. I really recommend this place. Trust me...all those negative reviews are probably from fake moving companies who cant even bother to find a photo online to steal to pretend they're a real person. These guys are great, and I'm sure my move in (whether it's 1-4 months from now) will be just as awesome and I'll be happy to confirm...once I'm FINALLY done with the mess that is moving 600+ miles.
