They stole a very important small safe that had very important documents in them and my fathers discard papers from the military and my mothers wedding ring plus more. Also damages a new refrigerator I had them move. I will NEVER US THEM AGAIN OR Recommend USING THEM TO MOVE ! Plus the movers actually asked for a large tip when they were through and it came to more than I was quoted as it was !!! This is the first time i've used movers (i've always just roughed it with friends and a U-haul), but I am so glad I was referred to this company by a number of friends who have used them. You know how some movers come in like a general, assessing the situation, making a battle plan, and carrying it out efficiently? These were not those movers. I used this company to move back in April, due to its positive reviews online and a discount through my company. I never did get that discount - at first I was told it didn't apply on weekends, despite that not being in the listing on our company site, then when my move changed to a weekday, I was quoted the same price and told the discount was included. To start with, they were more expensive than other quotes, then the price was even higher because they charged me a full hour for their transport to and from my apartment building (I was just changing units within the building). I thought maybe this was a Los Angeles thing, but asking around has made me believe it is unusual. For that price, I expected great movers. The movers I got were firmly mediocre. After an hour and a half, they hadn't moved any of my large furniture, instead focusing on small objects. I had to do a lot of directing of their efforts, telling them to get the big stuff then do the small stuff at the end (which I could finish on my own) if I wanted them to stay longer to help. They didn't seem very competent in packing either - I had to stop one of the movers from piling my books into a wardrobe box (the only box they brought), paperbacks first. Also when they moved chests of drawers, they didn't take out the drawers or secure them in any way. Instead they were just put on a handtruck, drawers sliding in and out, and items falling. I had to tell them to cover it with a blanket to keep the drawers in place. In the end, did they damage or steal anything? No. Would I use them again? Also no. I think you can do better for your money. read more

Easiest move I've ever had but I have mixed feelings about my experience with this company. I actually originally called and hired A Father and Son moving, but the morning that they were due, I received a call from the office stating that Nice Jewish Boy truck would be arriving and that they were owned by the same company. I don't really care but I'd like to know why if it's the same owner then why are there two different companies. Anyway.... Getting a price quote and other information was very easy and so was booking the move. I can't recall the name of the guy I spoke with but he was very nice, friendly, and professional. Their prices, which were the second best I found, and reviews on Yelp (for Father and Son Moving) is what prompted me to book them. I was given an hour window in which they'd be there (8:30-9:30) and told I'd be their first move of the day. I received a call about 9am and told that they would be there soon and to expect A Nice Jewish Boy truck. They arrived at 9:25am. They did a quick walk-through, asked questions, and made a plan of action. Norman and Jose were my guys. I pointed out what was important (52' tv) and what was not (everything else). They got to work right away. Now, I have a lot of crap. And these guys loaded up the truck in about 2.5 hours from my old place which was about 850 square feet, plus a garage. I didn't think it would take that long, but then again, I wasn't hauling it, either. It took almost 3-4 hours to unload the truck. If they didn't have to keep moving the truck (the only place they could park was blocking the driveway to the complex) so people could get out (not their fault) and wind their way through what I now understand to be a maze to get through to my apartment, I imagine it would have taken less time. I can't complain about how long it took because it was my estimation error. They worked their asses off. I just didn't think it would take 7+ hours to do the job. Guess I'm not used to having people care about my stuff. I do not think they did anything but work their asses off. They were professional and personable and hard workers. They brought their own beverages and repeatedly refused when I offered them drinks or snacks---until they drank everything they had (I had a lot of crap to move and it was hot), so I ran out and got them gatorade and snacks. I'm sure they appreciated it, but I believe it's part of my job to keep them hydrated and full while they bust their ass for me. Norman was the guy in charge. Throughout the loading and unloading, he'd ask me how I thought things were going. They always asked where I wanted stuff put in the new place and were very careful (no wall dings or anything!) and wrapped everything really well--with more care than I would have taken. I really liked these guys, the job they did, their work ethic, and their professionalism. A couple of things did break: an old and cheap floor lamp (although my favorite) and the frame for my cheval mirror. Granted, neither were particularly expensive (read: very cheap) but it sucks nonetheless. Norman made a point of telling me about each of these as soon as he discovered them. I pointed out to Norman that these were not nice items to begin with, but he was very apologetic anyway, stating that he takes pride in his job and was sorry. Ideally, nothing breaks and I'm not pissed about this, but I wanted to mention it. I'd use these guys again--and I'd request Norman and Jose. After they were finished, I spoke with Norman about how I could have saved time, since it took so much longer than I expected. He explained what other things I could have done differently, and what to expect for the next time I moved. I appreciated the tips he gave. Because it took longer than I expected (again, my error, not theirs), I went $200 over budget--and this was before tips. I paid almost $700 to move from Long Beach to West LA, from a 850 square foot duplex with a garage to a 900 square foot apartment with lots of turns and stairs. I'd give 5 stars if things hadn't broken, but I loved these guys and would use them again in a heartbeat. Easiest move I've ever had. read more

Oh my gosh. I used this company last summer, and I'm so glad I texted the entire experience to a friend, while it was happening, so I don't forget any of it. First of all, what you're quoted and what you're charged, are vastly different. And honestly, you could do a LOT better renting a truck and going down to Home Depot and hiring a couple of the guys standing around in the parking lot. I think that's how this company gets their movers anyway--at least, on my day. And they don't pay the movers a lot. The guys running the company pocket most of what you're charged. So, here's my experience. First, I was quoted $600 for the full move, since I was moving some furniture from my small office (which was down the street), picking up some large pieces I bought from another apartment (20 minutes away) and then the majority of the stuff would be from my house (10 minutes away) all going to one final location. They were only able to complete half the move (the office and the apartment, and nothing from my house) because even though I told them the location of my house, the company sent too big of a truck and the driver used their own GPS instead of going the route I told them. So, the truck broke down on the steep incline that comprises the back-way shortcut. Then, for a total 3.5 hours of work, I was charged for a minimum of 6 hours. But instead of the $600 I had been quoted for the full move, I was charged $760 for only half the move, and I was told if I wanted the rest of my stuff moved, they would come back on a different day, with a different truck, for an additional $500. So, that's now more than twice what I was quoted. $1260 instead of $600, if I want them to actually finish the move. The movers worked their butts off for those 3 hours, but I think they only got paid about $80 each for the day. At three movers, that's $240. So, that's a lot of profit going to a company, who's trying to double their quote at the last minute, who sent a truck that couldn't navigate the terrain, and who only completed half the job. So, the moving company pocketed $520 for doing nothing, other than not keeping their word and answering the phone. Although maybe that's their fee for driving down to Home Depot to round up movers for the day. A minor annoyance that still continues to annoy me, there was some damage to the furniture, one of the cabinet doors hangs weird and doesn't close anymore, there's nicks and surface damage, but by the time I noticed and the movers offered to have me fill out a damage report, I was so pissed about getting raked over the financial coals by this company, and the unfinished move, I told them to forget it. It wasn't the movers' fault that the company didn't train them or give them the proper equipment. I wound up with my ex having to rent a U-Haul truck, and borrow friends to help, (especially a friend who had a pick-up truck), and we did the rest of the move ourselves, over a longer period of time. I could have saved a lot of money if I didn't go through this middle-man company. If you're looking to move locally, and you don't want to hire from the parking lot at Home Depot (which is what you're going to get anyway, if you hire Nice Jewish Boys, despite their name--at least, that's what I got), another option is to contact your local high school -- sometimes, they raise money for their sports teams by helping people move. Why didn't I post this review last summer? Honestly, I didn't want the moving guys to get punished by the company. I figured I'd wait until they moved on to other jobs, to post a review of what happened. It's not their fault that this company has shady business practices. We got in touch with them the day before we moved (as the company we were originally going to use cancelled on us last minute) and they were beyond helpful and willing to be as accommodating as possible. On the day of the move, the crew called while they were on their way and were very prompt with the timing they had given me on the phone. The crew that came was great. These guys moved us from Canoga Park to Woodland Hills in 2011, but only now have I completely unpacked all the remaining boxes that were stored in the garage in the new house from the time of the move. They stole a box containing my irreplaceable yearbooks and other personal property that was stored in the original bedroom, probably the reason they thought it had commercial value. It didn't. Nice Jewish Boy was recommended to us through our realtor when we moved into our new house. I had no idea what to expect as I had never hired a moving company before, but it's safe to say i expected the worst. I was wrong. These movers showed up early, were in a great mood, were professional and EFFICIENT! All my husband and I had to do was point them in the right direction. We moved from a 2 bdrm on the 3rd floor and our access was not exactly ideal. The movers had to use dollys to carry things down the long hallway, load the elevator, go through the courtyard, and load the truck. Needless to say, our move went over what we were initially quoted over the phone due to the fact that we unfortunately never really thought about our access. But even after paying for some overtime, it was 100% worth it. I initially found these guys by other yelp reviews. I spoke with Michael , who came out the next day to give us an estimate. We agreed on the price for them to do a full pack, move and unpack. The packers came out on Tuesday and had our 1600 square foot house packed in under 5 hours. They came the next day for the move. Had the truck loaded before noon and the offloading done by 4:30. They came back the following morning to unpack everything and put it in place. I think what helped make it all go so smoothly was we had the same crew for everything. The guys were curtious, careful and thoughtful. All of our belongs were well packed, and they were very efficient. If we ever need to move again, I would call then back in a heartbeat.
