So I rented a storage unit from this place for 12 years straight. Rent went up every 6 to 8 months or so, but I figured hey it is real estate and the increases reflect California real estate market. So I bit the bullet, tightened up my belt and dealt with it until i was able to get out and stopped the bleeding. Fast forward to this past few weeks. I was going out of the country and needed a space to park my car for 18 days. Figured it was temporary and that I would be back soon, I opted to rent a parking space here since it is nearby. It was an uncovered space but I thought it would be OK. I was wrong, completely wrong! When I returned and went to retrieve my car, there had been an attempted theft! The steering colum case was ripped off​ and the ignition key slot was damaged to where it would no longer fir the key. The interior was a mess. The glove compartment and between seat interior compartment were thoroughly trashed. Everything was scattered all over. The battery was taken. So even if I manage to force the key into the ignition, the car will not start. This was about 4 or 4:30 pm. on a Tuesday afternoon. And "no Public Storage personnel" was anywhere to be found dispite the posted hour of operation of 6 am. to 6 pm. So I called. No live person to take the call. I left a message. A short while later they called me back. As I began to tell them what happened to my car, they told me yes they know. The incident happened 2 days prior and that they have file a report with Montebello PD and for me to come next day at 2 pm. to get the report number to file with my insurance. Sound ok so far? Next day I showed up at about 2:30 pm. and told the lady at the office near the gate what happened and why I was there. To my astonishment, she knew "nothing" about it! The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. After a few minutes, another lady called into the office and confrontationally and combatively proceeded to tell me they are not responsible. Was I upset? Oh! Why would a long time customer like me be upset just because I "paid" to leave my car somewhere thinking it's safer than parking it on the street? Why would I be upset if the party I paid tells me they don't know anything about an attempted theft of my car after having told me to come get information? Why would I be upset if the party I paid tells me they are not responsible for anything that happened? Why? Why would I be upset? So I put in a call to the PD and waited. When the black and white pulled up and official police report was filed, the officer tells me she just came from another incident report at a Public Storage. We went to the office to as about security footage and a man who introduced himself as the District Manager was there. I asked him if this type of thing is a common occurrence here. He responded "No. But a lot of people are impacted." What the f_ck does that mean? My take... The people who attempted to steal my car had access to the gate access code. Surely they wern't going to ram the car through the gate to get out if they succeeded in hot wiring my car. Conclusion: This is not the place to trust with your belongings. Susanne was very helpful when we moved into the 10 x 15 unit at $250 3/22. The company raised the rent every 6-8 months till it was $423 3/24! When I saw the same sized unit ad for $105, I knew it was a bait and switch- once you're in it's up up up. The company offered to freeze the rate for 3 months when I gave notice but I'd still be paying a lot more than when I started. Buyer beware. PS raises the rent because they can. Susanne was always helpful as when we needed to inspect for water damage after the tornado hit. The one bathroom is locked at inconvenient times. The weekend hours are limited. I now have the items in my house waiting to be purged and Donated It was an expensive lesson to learn. read more

I made a reservation and it said closes at 6pm I got there at 5pm and was attended by Suzanne. She welcomed me with " wow you would come in at the last minute " as if she is in a rush to leave. Whatever's I get that but when she asked for my I.d. I told hold on it's in my car, and said. Omg really!? Well can you hurry up? Look I don't expect a 5star experience but don't rush me lady when there was still time the process was literally 10mins. Your customer service is poor, you should take the time and re-evaluate the service you offer. I wish I would've read the reviews before I got the unit. I have a bad feeling about this, to add on there are no cameras in the hall way. I plan on installing my own camera in the unit. Just to play it safe, and if you do decide on getting a unit get the insurance! read more

I've had public storage on and off for well over 20yrs. I've never had a problem with any site manager until I got here. I see other positive reviews for Suzanne but she was awful with me. She complained a lot about her job, and how people are rude to her. Yeah, I see why now. They have also increased my rent on Sept '23 from $103 to $140. Then this April '24 they were going to increase to $169!!! That's within 6mo. I was late for March and fee is $14. I paid the $140 but couldn't pay the late fee. I received daily email reminders to pay and they were adding more fees! Nope, I decided to move my stuff out immediately. I put in a request to move out for March 31st. NOW, because we left one thing behind they tell me to come and remove it or else they will charge me! I spoke w District Manger Freddy, I asked him to please just remove the item and trash it because it is no value to me but he declined. No help whatsoever. Unbelievable! I can't say that I would never use Public Storage again although I'll make sure never to come back to this one. read more

i was robbed!!!!! Do not put your stuff in a storage facility, losers are watching to see what you put inside and will target your property. Thievery is on the rise at many storage properties not just this Public Storage! No respect, people are too lazy to get jobs and buy their own stuff so they take yours. They have no morals or ethics. Probably drug addicts looking to steal what they can pawn. They will reap what they sow. Do wrong and it will be done to you three times worse! There are no cameras inside, and no security monitoring the halls after the office closes. Renters beware!! Anyone can enter the buildings until 9pm! Recently, lots of shady unit renters seen on the grounds. I moved my property out. Also, lately, this location looks shabby and run down. I will never use public storage ever again. I just learned that they are independently owned for a while now. I was under the impression that they were still a joint corporation but I do see this is evident now. I had used different public storages before since the 90's and times have changed. Customer service is a dying art. I had no problems for four years until my unit was broken into on March 3-4 2016. I was a happy customer until then. THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER EVER HAPPENED!! Management lives on the property so when they are off the clock, THERE NEEDS TO BE SECURITY BUT THERE IS NONE!!! read more

Look, the place was fine as these things go, and the people working in the office were helpful and friendly. But they purposely don't have a way to dispose of stuff you want to trash on-site, making management of your possessions a burden. Then my unit was broken into. And then when I had to be away from the area long-term due to a family illness, they made it so difficult to close my account -- it dragged out for weeks and nobody I spoke to would do what I asked until I screamed my way to the higher ups. So, if I had to store things again, I would look elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately my brother had the worse experience here, I sent him to pick up some large items from my unit, as he was there he was harassed by the storage manager. I understand that people want to go home from work but to be so rude about especially when they still had time on the clock. So apparently Suzanne felt the need to express how much she wanted to leave and told my brother and friend that they needed to hurry up, she wants to go home (even though she lives on the premises) and then started with the " why are you here?" "i bet you don't have a unit here.. whats your name' all while they were loading furniture on their truck with five minutes to spare. customer service is key to a successful business, so making your customers feel rushed and disrespected is unacceptable! so good luck to whoever chooses this storage maybe just maybe you'll get her on a good day! read more

I just rented a storage here, I was fixing some things in my storage I didn't park inside because I didn't want to chance the gate locking me out, although I didn't plan on staying here longer than 9 pm (time the gate locks) anyways I walked out of here maybe 9:18pm and the lady (Susan) the older woman, literally started screaming at me to the top of her lungs! Did I deserve to be screamed at that way?! HELL NO! She could have spoken to me in a professional matter, since it was my first day loading my storage, worst experience ever! read more
