It's difficult to give a rating of only two stars. We've been coming here for almost 25 years and have been completely satisfied up until last evening. I'm attempting to write this as a restaurant critic might. Being objective is key. Here's the good and not so good: 1. The butter with the bread was served melted. 2. The bread itself was crunchy on the bottom. It is usually warm and soft. 3. My wife's Filet Mignon was undercooked and red in the center, despite being ordered medium well done. Amy was kind enough to resolve this by having the steak cooked a little more. 4. I had the ribeye with the bone in. It was a bit dry inside and somewhat tough. 5. Our baked potatoes were a little dry inside and didn't have much butter. 6. Our dinner with the tip ran over $80, and that was just with water for drinks. Pricey, but no problem if the food is up to snuff. 7. The salad, Aussie fries and the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under were excellent. 8. The service was excellent. Terrible experience!! Called from a local restaurant to see how long of a wait and was told 5 minutes. Put down my name and drive across the street to outback. When I got there they said there will be about a 15 minute wait. About 30 later they had called 2 tables and I noticed that they can in after me. Now I have waited way to long, I was better off staying where I was. I waited 190 minutes just for them come my drink order and then I noticed the waiter was taking orders if people seated after me. If you've been to this Aussie style casual chain, you know what you're in for. And now this location has some competition with the new Texas Roadhouse across the street. The good: When you don't want to wait an hour + to eat because the newly opened TR is jam packed with everyone and their mother wanting to check it out (including me) - you can mosey on down here in less than 5 min and be seated in 20; the entire reason we were here in over a decade of returning. And truthfully, I don't recall one negative experience, including last night. In fact, our service couldn't have been better. Sat. night was a full house, but boy, these guys are efficient. I must've seen 7+ servers hustling tables and turning them over in lightning speed. Our very friendly waiter arrived minutes after being seated. Drinks came in 5. Complimentary bread in 7. Coconut shrimp app in 8. My cup of loaded potato soup in 2. These are all guestimates mind you.. When you're super starving, time matters. Soup hit the spot. Coconut shrimp was hot and shrimp was cooked perfectly. Our entrees took about 20 min after our app. All the while our waiter checked on us multiple times for refills and any other 'needs', he even asked if we wanted more bread. Can I just say my Victoria's filet was almost like butter? Cooked exactly as I wanted and tender to the 10th degree, tasty and totally satisfying. You simply cannot go wrong with their filet. If you're an indecisive eater like me, just get it. My guy had the bone in ribeye (22 oz) also cooked as requested. Juicy and tender. He was happy, but a little jelly of my meat. The filet is honestly a better cut if we're comparing. Entree's come with 2 sides. Mashed potatoes tasted real. Veggie medley was fresh and al dente. I don't recommend their mac & cheese. Had some strange Italian seasoning flavor goin on and not creamy at all. We didn't touch it after a taste. All of this for $90!! AND we were in & out in an hour with no compromises.. I ordered off the app and picked it up on my way home from work. The filet was perfect, so good! Tender and cooked medium. Ribeye was medium rare and perfect! Potatoes were great with the extras on the side. Salads were pretty good too We really felt like a good steak dinner and it was really good and stayed warn I think Outback is consistent and have not had a bad meal there in the past year. 01/03/20 update Came here a few times the past month and mushroom appetizer was ok. Tonight the house wine had a chemical after taste. I've had this wine many times before. They are leaving some cleaning substance on the glass. Sure it looks sparkly clean. But tastes like crap and probably not good for your health. The bartender gave me a different glass. I asked him to rinse out the glass with water. He did, and the same wine from the same bottle tasted fine. Tonight the onion petals also had that same odd after taste but not as pronounced. I also had mac n cheese bites and they were very mundane. The bartender service was excellent. I enjoy the ambiance of this place. But their appetizers suck imo, except for ahi tuna. And I'm not going to risk my health injesting that substance they use to clean glasses at the bar. Outback never ever ever changes their appetizer menu.
