chicken rice soup - good but looked OH so bland

Christmas is special. After years of celebrating at Morton's, we elected to come here for a dinner Christmas night- the prices were reasonable, and the overall reviews weren't too off the mark. So we asked a couple friends to join us. First: Ambience- perfect. Nicely maintained; not too loud, and the only "off" thing we noted was a gas fireplace that wasn't turned on. Not a deal killer. Though we would have preferred a booth we got a nice table quickly and were seated within a minute after arriving. Nice so far! My chair had lots of bread crumbs on it; the table had small bread plates but no napkins or silverware. Ok - I cleaned off the chair; the server got us sorted with menus and the aforementioned napkins and silverware - and menus of course :) I ordered a beer - they were out. My 2nd choice? Out. Ok. Goose Island? They had. Our friends ordered wine, and hub-hub had a soda water w/lemon. The water came out, and we decided to order the following: Saganaki- the reason for the order? Flambe, of course! Bread came out quickly- it was warm and yummy. We all got water and our orders were taken. So far we were looking - well- good! Here came the disappointment - The saganaki came sans flambe. Why? The server said - and i quote- "there are too many people in the restaurant for us to do flambe". Reallly. Couldn't have let us know that up front? That was the ONLY reason I wanted the saganaki. Wow. Still good, but wow. Moving on- I asked for thousand island dressing on my salad. The poor salad came- not looking too bad, but sans dressing. I was told - 'we're sorry but we're out of Thousand Island. Ok- then I'll have ranch! And by the way- the ranch never was forthcoming. Wow. Ok- I ordered 2 3oz filet mignons with peppercorn, medium well, and a baked potato. The baked potato was fantastic; the filet mignon was lukewarm and - sorry to say- cooked only to a medium rare. I didn't send it back but should have. My hubby ordered his kebab medium but got it well done. Oh my. And all our entrees came out lukewarm; not hot at all. If they were trying to fail on our first visit ever? They were doing a good job of it. Sad. The soup was chicken rice- not fantastic but not bad. When our water ran out? We never got refills. Look - I get it. It's Christmas. No one probably wanted to work, even with overtime. But when only the bread, soup, and potato were done up right? And no refill of water? That really bothered me. I took off 2 points for the above demerits- and I think that was generous. Our server was very personable; very nice - but she was overwhelmed. And running out of one beer is probably ok - but two? And no flambe (which we should have been told to us upfront when ordering.) And lukewarm and undercooked food? Oh my. Jameson's - you lost us because you didn't try to win us over. Heck, I don't even think you tried that hard. I tried to convince myself that they are very modestly priced and that explained the above concerns. Nope. I just don't think the mgmt cared enough. I presume they get paid to impress their guests? Impress us? They did not. Sad.

This place is very homey and cozy. They were very busy, but the service was good. I was so surprised and how delicious everything was. We have no complaints about any of the food. The portion size was perfect!! what really wowed me was the calamari! It was one of the best we've ever had!! highly recommend! the veggies were nice and crisp and seasoned perfectly. I completely recommend coming here!! we will be back!!

Start with warm bread and soft butter.

Server needs to check that the dinner plate she/he is going to give the customer does indeed in clude all requested modifications and choices.

Bone in Jameson's Special Cut 28 oz. Dinner

Food was very good. Soups excellent. Good salad. The special cut 28oz steak was phenomenal as was the cheeseburger. The 16oz Ribeye was blah. No marbling. I even asked if it was a sirloin. Service was OK. Would give it another try.

I looked up highly rated Vietnamese restaurants and found Tasty House 1 in Carol Stream. This place is everything we anticipated it to be. The location is nice and has parking in front, inside is super spacious and had a relaxing and breathable ambiance. We ordered a family appetizer platter that came with all the delicious Vietnamese appetizers like: spring rolls, bbq marinated meat, fried eggrolls, grilled jumbo shrimp, meat wrapped in betel leaf, lettuce, noodles, cucumbers, cabbage, tomatoes, daikon, jalapeños, two dipping sauces: peanut butter hoisin and Vietnamese fish sauce. Another appetizer we got separately was the fried calamari which had a great crunchy texture, the absolute best! For our entrees I decided to build my own pho and chose tripe, rib eye steak and quail eggs. My husband got the spicy beef noodle soup (Bun Bo Hue). This is honestly the best Vietnamese we've ever had in our lives!!!! I'm so glad I found this place. Awesome service, food and atmosphere. Zero complaints everything was very fresh and perfect. Our hearts left super happy.

There is a separate vegan menu with half a dozen things on it, and other than the drinks and desserts, pretty much nothing on the regular menu is vegetarian. (The papaya salad, which is on the vegan menu, is a ringer: it contains fish sauce.) You've got your choice of various fruit lemonades, bubble teas, popping bubble teas, jellies, etc. Desserts include flan, Vietnamese yogurt, coconut jelly - none of which you'll be eating onsite as you'll be too full after your entree. Portions are on the large side - even the papaya salad is a meal. I got the peach lemonade, vegetable spring rolls and the tofu, vegetable and noodles, which turned out to be a soup, basically Vietnamese ramen. The spring rolls are tasty and come with peanut sauce; the vegetable broth was savory with lots of baby bok choy, plenty of noodles and cubes of fried tofu - it was even better with some of the homemade hot sauce, which I highly recommend. The lemonade comes in a bubble tea disposable cup and contains tiny pieces of fruit - very fruity, not very citrusy. Service was friendly and very personable, which helps if you're serving 16 people. All of whom were happy.

I love the variety of their food menu! They have steak, salmon, chicken, pork, shrimp, duck, lamb, pasta, and some really nice appetizers. We ordered the charcuterie board and thought it was the perfect size for the two of us. Not many places offer duck, so I had to order it for dinner! The duck leg comes with carrots and duck fat roasted potatoes. It was incredibly delicious and tender. The flavor of the sauce was rich and paired great with the carrots and potatoes. Only thing is I did think some of the prices were a bit high compared to some other places I've been that serve similar quality food. Our waiter was nice and provided good service overall! I think this would be a cute spot for a date night.

We were seated immediately and greated by Marc our server who was amazing. They have an extensive wine and bourbon list as well as a variety of crafted cocktails. Started with the Burrata appetizer and an order of baked oysters. Delicious! For our main entrees we had the Shells on Shells pasta which was loaded with seafood but my wife was disappointed that the pasta was not shell pasta. I had the Shrimp Bruschetta which was loaded with shrimp and tasted amazing. Portions are huge but they were so good we had no leftovers .lol. For our Anniversary they surprised us with some gelato and I had to try their famous Bourbon Pecan Pie. Very good but I brought half of it home. We ended the night with an Expresso Martini. This is truly a hidden gem located in downtown Roselle.

My mom is a vegetarian so this was definitely a surprise and ideal option! 5) Bun Dau Mam Tom - This can be a mess to wrap the fried tofu, steamed pork, rice noodles, and shrimp paste in lettuce. Everything went well together and the shrimp paste has a slight kick to it. 6) Soft shell crab fried rice - The soft shell crab is crunchy and came with a generous portion of fried rice. We had plenty of fried rice left. 7) Vietnamese iced coffee - My parents generally prefer the Vietnamese coffee hot however Pholicious only serves them cold. 8) Egg coffee - Rich and creamy! We did not try the banh mi but we did buy a bag of freshly baked baguettes to go. Each bag comes with three baguettes. If you buy one bag, it is $3. However, if you buy two bags, it is cheaper at $5. The baguettes held up really well for our home-made sandwiches.
