We always love Outback. It's a "go to" place to eat when we are away from home because we know we love the menu. But this visit was more than just good food. Our server Jennifer was AMAZING!!! She made our visit more than just a stop for a quick meal. We laughed and enjoyed our time there more than we ever have. I've eating at quite a few Outbacks and normally they are pretty consistent, but the one in Farmington is below what I am sure, are less than corporate standards. The last time we were there, menu items shown were unavailable, including salad dressing. On multiple occasions, our steak has been so rare it is almost impossible to cut with a steak knife. Even after sending it back, it was not cooked as ordered. As a side note, sending food back is a concern, as the staff does not give you a comfortable feeling when sending food back. As a patron of over ten years of this particular Outback (frequenting it as often as biweekly), I can say that I have seen it at its best; and currently I can honestly say it is at its worst! With a recent influx of restaurants in the Farmington area that provide excellent customer service and quality food at reasonable prices, I don't see Outback succeeding in the near future unless drastic changes occur. read more

Huge fan. Huge portions of food. The Bloomin' Onion and Aussie Cheese Fries were monster for apps or even for meals. We even still had our regular meals coming. Rib-eyes went all around with the house salad for me. Juicy rib-eye well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Service was excellent plates kept getting cleared, drinks kept filling, even the owner of this location came out to see how everything was going. Very friendly. This was the most dissatisfied I have ever been at a steak house the place was filthy paper napkins all over the floor along with a dirty table covered in the last customers crumbs ... . $35 for a rib eye that tasted like it was microwaved and over seasoned and cut to the shape of a penis and balls , 4 pathetic shrimpy shrimp on a greasy soggy piece of toast. No bacon for the baked potatoes and no macaroni and cheese so they really tried to give us macaroni off the kids menu the salad was limp and covered in cheese the vinaigrette was sweet enough to put on toast for a desert the waitress kept giving us a weird dirty looks as we picked at our over cooked microwaved steaks ..and one of the kids working in the kitchen came out to crop dust our table with an extra stanky flatulence.. did I forget to mention that it was my wife and I's 17th wedding anniversary dinner ? .. only good part of the whole meal was the Kentucky fried onion flower and laughing all the way home at how horrible the entire experience was .. total for two to eat dinner $97 . Today (New Years Eve) we went to the Outback Steakhouse here in Farmington, NM. We are so glad we did, as everything was perfect. Our waiter (Anthony) was prompt with our drink, which were Wallaby Darns. Yum. We both ordered the filet mignon fixed medium rare, and a lobster tail. The house mashed potatoes were on the side, as well as a salad. I don't remember ever having a better steak. It was cooked to perfection. The lobster tail was also great. Stopped in for the first time in a long time. It was a hot day, my wife and I were so thirsty. We literally got bread and butter and our appetizer before some other waitress stopped and asked if we ordered drinks. Thank her for noticing because no amount of asking our waitress was getting our drinks. The waitress finally said she was in training, I get that but someone should have been supervising her if she is so new she can't handle getting waters to the table. Next, we ordered the blooming onion, it was fried to a crisp, there was no onion left in it, it was like breaded peels. Next, we ordered a steak Salad. When it can out it was just yellow lettuce and a few cuts of steak. When we showed the waitress she said they were out of tomatoes and red onions. That is the chefs fault, if you don't have ingredients don't make it, let the waitress know and ask the customer if they would like something else. Don't serve something without ingredients. Upon entering with a large group, my mother asked to order quickly, because she had to leave early. The server ignored this request, took everyone else's order. She then asked if he would be sure and put her order in first. She got an easy order of soup and salad. She got the soup first, and the salad came, and she didn't want it then, so he offered to put in a to go box. He did not. She did not ever see it again. Outback Steakhouse is mainly open for dinner, after 4pm, but this one in Farmington, NM is open Saturday and Sunday at 11am; starting July 1, 2013 it will be open for lunch everyday. We were immediately greeted upon entering, and while the host wanted to seat us in the bar area, we insisted on a booth in the dining area. Our waitress, Heidi, was friendly, took our drink and appetizer order quickly; brought warm bread and butter to nosh on; and made sure to keep our drink glasses filled. Several times the General Manager, Chris, stopped at booths and tables nearby us; for whatever unknown reason, he didn't bother to stop by ours to introduce himself, nor ask how our meal experience was. Another gentleman wearing a red shirt came by later on, stopped at each table and booth, asked how everything was before moving on; didn't introduce himself, so he could have been just some friendly guy. We chose two appetizers, the new Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and a half order of Aussie Cheese Fries. The Crab Stuffed Mushrooms were cooked well; moist, delicious stuffing with mushrooms that could easily be cut with a fork. The lemon butter sauce served on the side was thick, yet creamy and went so well with this appetizer. The Aussie Cheese Fries were deep fried shoestring potatoes covered in melted cheese and just a smidgen of bacon; definitely would have appreciated more bacon with this appetizer. It was served with a spicy ranch dipping sauce, but nothing to rave about. For the main entree, we both chose 6 ounce sirloins; The Bloomin' Sirloin which came topped with "petals" from Outback's Bloomin' Onion appetizer and the Sirloin with Wild Mushroom Sauce (new item on the menu); both came with a choice of potato, steamed vegetables or side salad. If you wanted the choice of potato and a side salad, it was an extra $2.99 for the salad (lettuce, croutons, cherry tomatoes, red onion, shredded cheese). While we both enjoy our steaks medium-rare, we ordered medium and surprise!, the steaks both came out medium-rare anyway. I enjoyed the garlic mashed potatoes with The Bloomin' Sirloin; they were not only creamy and delicious, but stayed hot throughout the entire meal. My husband had ordered the side salad which was served after the appetizers, so his steak looked so lonely on that large dinner plate all by itself. Perhaps if the large slices of mushroom had been served on the side of the steak, the presentation would have been better; the sauce was creamy though. We shared one dessert, Carrot Cake with a Cream Cheese Frosting which is not house made, but brought in from an outside source. However, the cake itself was moist with plenty of diced pecans and raisins; the frosting was not overly sweet and went so nicely with the cake. It was a pleasant ending to the overall meal experience. Normally I don't give ratings, but with a chain restaurant like Outback Steakhouse, I would give this one in Farmington, NM a B minus (B-). Not overly bad, not overly good and just a touch above average. read more

Very slow service and not good. Food was good if want to wait for almost an hour. No refills on drinks my kids kept asking wheres their drinks after she said would get them. Complete meal didn't come out only after we were getting ready to leave. Got to the restaurant at 745pm left very upset at 10pm. No tip for service. Not very busy either. I ordered the Outback burger- nothing fancy. Burger and fries came out lukewarm, like it sat under the lights for a while. The restaurant was extremely cold, so take a jacket with you. I have seen some crazy stuff in the kitchen such as food dropped on an unsanitary floor and quickly flash fried or grilled to "sterilize" it and served, code violations in the walk-in on an almost daily basis (cooked meat and vegetables stored next to raw meat, and generally unsanitary food preparation practices). This was honestly an awful restaurant experience. I came for lunch and sat at the bar. My soda was flat so I asked for a water, which was fine. I ordered sirloin and shrimp and asked for my steak medium rare. The steak came out way too rare. It was brown on the outside but the entire inside was cool and dark red. It was gross. So they threw it back on the grill, which then made it too dry. I ate my soup (French onion, which nobody told me there was an up charge for) and shrimp, but the steak wasn't doing it for me. The manager was aware that it didn't come out all right and she didn't say anything to me about it. The bartender was busy, which I understand, but she wasn't even friendly. I know it's frustrating to waitstaff to have a one top, because it's one meal and thus a smaller tip, but she wasn't even good at faking friendliness. She made it obvious that she was more interested in the larger parties sitting near me, and I ended up waiting about 10 minutes after getting my extra rare steak before she even came over to address it. This restaurant used to be really good but the last few times we have been here it seems to really be going downhill. Last night the the only thing that was good was the Mac and cheese my grandkids ordered. My husband had the pork chops and they were dry. I had the tilapia and it was so bad I only had a couple of bites. The waitress didn't ask if the food was ok. We had to get our own salt and pepper and sugar off of other tables. i can't believe i'm saying this but outback steakhouse was one of the best experiences here in farmington! the parking lot looked full. we didn't have reservations and the wait was only 15 minutes. the service was great. our server was victoria. she did a great job and the manager sure made an effort to meet our needs. i ordered the ribeye and my wife had the 1/2 rack of pork ribs. we loved it. the entree and sides were great. i still can't believe we had such a great time in an outback steakhouse. good job outback! read more

For a very late lunch the drinks were fantastic, appetizer of crab stuffed mushrooms was awesome. The wedge salad was shared and was loaded with blue needs. My ribeye was perfectly cooked, tender and very flavorful, my garlic mash was great as well. My girlfriend had the Alice Springs chicken, it was very tender but only 2 mushrooms and she had to ask food extra honey mustard. The service as always was fantastic!
