Spotlight was on me the entire dining experience. No, I wasn't entertaining the crowd, I WAS in the spotlight while sitting at our booth. It seemed like I was in some cop movie being questioned in a dark room with light lit brightly on me. It wasn't until 1/2 the meal was finished and I realized how uncomfortable it was making me. It turns out (while our entire discussion was making jokes about this) that I WAS not imagining anything. Everywhere in the restaurant it was dark except for me and one other patron near the bar. Count your shrimp!!! As we know outback recently changed their menu and the shrimp entree went from 16 to 8! I ordered the entree and they served me 7. This is NOT the first time it has happened to me. The first time was a to go order and I believe it was deliberate. This time I was dining in and they had the audacity to do it again. The manager came by and I politely asked how many shrimp we were supposed to get. He had someone bring the ONE additional shrimp. He later showed up with 2 more shrimp on a plate. My only complaint this time is that the food took FOREVER to come. I have lost track of how many states and countries I've been in Outback Steakhouses. Taiwan, Bejing, Toronto, and at last count when I used to travel a ton it was 35 different states. I am a general fan of their product, though, over the years they have made choices as a franchise that annoy me. Their fries used to have real potatoes in them, possibly even locally cut. Now we get the bag of gunk from Sysco, which are 'coated' with 'crap, er crunch' enhancing crap which does nothing but raise the caloric count, and ruin the cheese fries. Their salads used to have in house shredded cheese (the kind without the powder coating of saw dust) and cucumbers that were cut in quarters, and really solid garlic croutons that were crunchy but soft-ish as well. but in the age of squeeze every cent of profits out we've gone to bulk shredded cheese that is coated in anti-caking sawdust, this location had cucumbers but they were shoved through a mandolin that makes paper look thick. That said, their take on Ranch dressing is alive and well, and I'm here for it. I hate regular ranch dressing, but the little extra spice they put in it really makes it for a great enhancer to the cheese fries or the salad itself. They also don't overdo it, they got that just right, which has been that way since I first hit up an outback in 1991. Steaks were solid, cooked reasonably close to request. The usual unique mix they use instead of the classic Montreal mix which I like. My wife for some weird reason opted for a 5oz sirloin, it was the weirdest cut sirloin I've ever seen, normally you would go for a thinner cut to get to a 5oz but instead they brought out what looked like a steak 'maple bar' donut shaped thing, it looked very un-natural, it tasted fine but when you get a 'maple bar' long 'donut' of steak, it really makes you second guess thing. I did the sensible thing and got an 11 oz version, and it was cooked well. So far they haven't managed to completely screw up the baked potato (except put that sawdust coated cheese on it) I wish American food would get back to its roots, stop letting some giant food place process it for you, do it locally in the locales, it's why you got so popular, now you're just a high priced wannabe compared to the 90s - 2010s, just cafeteria food level quality of the food now. Staff was great, you can't break people yet but give the tech bros a chance they're already shoving tablets to help you pay faster and not be used to humans working with humans anymore. Location had plenty of parking, we got there a bit later on a friday as we were driving across the state but wanted to eat somewhere solid. Inside was a typical layout and tables were spaced well didn't feel crammed in They had a fun drink thing going on, where you'd get a shark with a Shirley temple, my dark humor shark loving goal keeper ordered it looking forward to dumping the 'blood' into the drink, only for them to bring it out without the shark. she was bummed when she got a little glass of stuff to dump in instead. read more

Now is the time to enjoy the Aussie Aussie Aussie three course meal. We chose house salads along with the grilled shrimp and loaded potatoes for the side. Bread comes with it of course and the shrimp sat on top of the same bread (the bottom half of a loaf). Unfortunately this was one of those nights where we laughed, talked and enjoyed ourselves, forgetting all about taking pictures of the meal. I did remember to snap the included desserts however. Note: there is a $3 upcharge if you select the chocolate thunder from down under and SOOOO worth it; the raspberry cheesecake is free as the third corse. After, such a bad experience at the Westover Terrace Outback, we decided to try the other Outback on West Wendover in Greensboro. The main reason was because we had a gift card that we wanted to use. We called West Wendover from the parking lot, and were told there was only a five to ten minute wait. We added our name to "call ahead seating." When we arrived, we were prompted seated. We were greeted by a very attentive waitress that quickly brought us bread and our drinks. She took our order and checked on us often. We ordered a steak from their special menu. Everything from our house salads with Tangy Tomato dressing, to the loaded baked potatoes and rare sirloins topped with provolone and fried onion petals were very tasty. Our waitress' name was Rion, and she was excellent in every way. If every Outback experience was like this, we'd become a regular customer again. I was in the mood for a good steak and since I had a gift card I decided to go to the Longhorn on W Wendover, since my last experience was less than I would have liked at the Westover location. I went in the late afternoon and there were only two tables with customers. The host was not at the stand and I had to wait several minutes before being seated. It was interesting that a young lady who was sitting in the waiting area told me that someone would be with me shortly. After I was seated and eating my dinner, I noticed that a manager was interviewing her in one of the booths across the room from me. I did have my choice of where to sit and as always asked for a table. The person who seated me took my drink order and then the server, Brandie, came over to take my order. I noticed she didn't write it down, but before she left she had to ask me again how I wanted my steak cooked. Another server then dropped off my salad, which I had asked to be brought out first, and with no onions. It was out quickly, but had onions on it, and there was no salt and pepper on the table so I had to get them from another table. My dinner came out before I finished my salad, guess I should have expected it quickly since they were not busy. I had twice told the server that I wanted the steak medium, and based on the color chart they have, it came out what I would call medium rare, but it was very good. The sides of sweet potato and broccoli were also good. While several servers went by my table it was a bit of a wait to get the tea refilled though. Overall it was an okay visit, and I enjoyed the steak, so I will probably go back there. There were several tables that the customers had departed before I arrived and were not cleared for awhile, even though there appeared to be a number of staff that could have done that. This wasn't my best Outback experience. I found myself on Wendover and in the mood for a steak. Arrived about 630 on a Thursday and was seated immediately. I waited for about 8 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone--the manager walked by and took my drink order. The server arrived shortly after with my drinks and took my order. I ordered the Filet Shelia, sweet potato, and Caesar salad. My ordered arrived...missing a salad plus broccoli. The server stated she thought I said broccoli but remedied it by bringing the salad. The filet Shelia is a relatively new item that is two filet medallions with mushrooms and cheese melted on top, with some sort of sauce and "blooming carrots." It was good. I'm not a spice person--the heat built over time but was still tasty. The sweet potato was a total bummer! Our party of three were seated right away. We got in a comfortable large booth. We thought it was too large for us at first, but it actually had the right amount of room. Our waiter Eric was attentive throughout the entire service. He visited our table to refill our drinks and to make sure we had everything we needed. I haven't been to Outback in a very long time. The first was my first time visiting this location. It was really hard to pick off the menu. Everything looked pretty good. We started with a bloomin' onion. It was tasty with the dipping sauce. I decided on the chimichurri filet cooked medium with rice, carrots and a house salad. The house salad came first. No complaints there. The steak was very tender and flavored well with the chimichurri sauce. The carrots were a real treat. The only thing I was disappointed in were the gingerbread cocktails. Clearly my cocktail was made first and was left to sit. The whipped cream had pretty much melted and the cookie was soggy. My friends ordered the same drinks. One friend's whipped cream was a little thicker, but still a bit melted. My other friend's was obviously made last and hers looked like the picture. One of my friend's ordered a second. Outback is good, if a little pricey for a generic steakhouse. They generally have slightly better service and food than similar restaurants and this location is no different. It is a newer location and I really like the new design however I prefer to eat at the bar. If you prefer to eat in a booth or table, you may feel a little crammed in with the new outback design. They really jam a lot of tables on the floor and it can seem tight and chaotic which is t the experience I'm after for the price. I hope they change this as they evolve the new layout but I doubt they will. Still, good food and service so I will be back. read more

Dinner was delicious . Appetizer was of course the amazing bloomin onion. I ordered the salmon with rice with their amazing new sauce. The chef put his foot in this meal . Everything was perfect . I so wanted the kangaroo Krush drink just because of the little kangaroo they were giving away . Unfortunately they ran out of the kangaroo but the drink was still delicious. Needless to say we devoured the entire meal. When the bus boy came by and asked if we were done and what did he want him to pick up ? My boyfriend replied the CHECK WE WOULD LIKE TO GO TO SLEEP NOW . This was our first time at this location, although we've dined at Outback many times in general. I give it a solid 5 for having no wait on Sunday after church. The restaurant was clean and comfortable and attractive on the inside. Tables weren't shoved up next to each other; there was plenty of breathing room. Our waitress was tops! I tried something for the first time: Toowoomba Salmon and seasoned rice, with a Caesar salad. The salad was excellent. The salmon was overwhelmingly salty, and the Creole sauce was flavorless. The rice was pretty flavorless, as well; I don't know what it was "seasoned" with. I thought it was a bit undercooked, too, but I like my rice less than firm. The entree as a whole was underwhelming. I won't order it again. My husband's half-rack of ribs and sweet potato were predictably delicious. The strawberry kiwi lemonade I had was also good, but the 2nd glass I received didn't look or taste like the first one. I'm not sure it was the same. We will definitely go back, but I won't get the salmon again. It was just more than $60 for two of us, and we both had a beverage (tea and lemonade) and no dessert. Today I stopped in to get a carry out order. My order was identical to every other time I've ordered a sirloin, sweet potato and salad (today, consistency was what I needed). Where things were different; today I met Lauren. She approached me when she saw the "gluten allergy" alert. She is very familiar with celiacs and wanted to assure me that my order would not "gluten" me. She also suggested the chocolate thunder from down under because it is also GF. Let me start by saying if any restaurant in this area is on an hour wait and people are willing to wait, they are doing something right. I was thinking of going to get something fairly healthy for dinner and made a hard left turn. I could not find a place to park. I love that. It means people are happy and returning to more pandemic ways. I finally parked in the next lot over and hiked it. (maybe 75 ft) I was running solo so I wasn't going to wait, I asked if I could sit at the bar and gay a spot right away! The Bartender, wore bow tie looking sunglasses, She said her name was Echo. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm getting a burger at most places. So. I got the burger. She carefully took down my instructions- char grilled. Don't squish my burger. Extra seasoning. Side of bbq sauce. Then she went to the kitchen and verbally explained all my requests. My burger was perfect. Great presentation, great toppings. This is another review that I have done here. We went here today at lunch time. They were very slow. The hostess sat us behind the hostess stand. We where kind of hidden. We sat there for about 10 minutes before I had to ask for a waiter. Finally we got our order placed. The food came out quickly and it was delicious as normal. But something was off here. The place was almost empty but the service was slow. Our waiter was fine just took a while before he ever got to us. Not a deal breaker for me because the food was great. My wife and I hadn't had a meal at an Outback Steakhouse in years, and for some reason I had overwhelming cravings for a bloomin' onion, so we decided to play Russian roulette with this new location which has a variety of good and bad reviews. Our experience at least, while not amazing, was good enough that we would go back. It was not without hiccups, which appear to be a highly recurring thing here, but they were swiftly corrected. First off, the interior design of this restaurant is amazing. It really looks and feels like a great place to have dinner. Very open floor plan, interesting lighting, and spacious. There is also ample seating should you have to wait for a table inside and out. Upon being seated, it took longer than I would like to have our drink orders taken, but our waitress did come and get them as well as our bloomin onion then put them in to ensure that everything would come out at the correct pace. She came back a few minutes later with our drinks and took our food orders. To the food... the bloomin onion with that horseradishy sauce it comes with is still sinfully delicious. Warm and crisp with great spices in the batter and dip. My meal also came with a Caesar salad, which i oddly remembered as being particularly good in previous years, and it did not disappoint. They make the best Caesar dressing, especially if you crack some pepper on top. With us having appetizers, I got their smallest steak, a 6 ounce sirloin cooked medium, and that's exactly what I got. It was actually pretty good. I could make better for myself at home, but I wasn't disappointed in it. It came with mashed potatoes and broccoli, both of which were fine. My wife's grassfed burger order however was wrong, which we were concerned about since the waitress wasn't writing anything down. It also didn't come out with it's "steakhouse mac n cheese" that arrived a few minutes later. At that point, we made the staff aware of the error. Within a few minutes, she had a new burger topped properly AND she got a 2nd order of the mac n cheese, brought out by the manager. That turned out to be a great thing, because that mac n cheese was some of the best we have had, was nice to have leftovers. The burger itself was delicious, robust beef flavor, sharp cheddar, buttery thick buns. At the end of the meal, my dinner came with a slice of strawberry cheesecake which we split. Tasty but nothing special. All in all, while the service had its rough patches, this was a good dining experience for us, and we would return for another round of "Outback Roulette". read more
