I used to love this place. It now smells, feels sticky and perhaps my food expectations have expanded. The service was lovely though. The salad was a solid choice but the salmon was overcooked and my guest had the worst looking coleslaw covered in mayo.

My recently trip to the Village Tavern in Greensboro was fantastic. I ordered the butchers sirloin steak; it was perfectly seasoned on of the best steaks I ever ate. My wife ordered chicken teriyaki and said it was delicious

We always have a delicious meal at The Village Tavern! My friend from New Jersey was visiting and she specifically requested going there because they serve her favorite salad...the grilled chicken spinach salad. I adore their chicken marsala with a baked potato and string beans! This restaurant is a Greensboro institution. I recommend making reservations before you go because it is always busy!

Service was excellent after we were quickly seated for our 5 pm Sunday reservation through Resy. The restaurant was pretty crowded, and parking is always at a premium, but we were able to get parked close and quickly in the rain. It was my hubby's birthday, and the day after Valentine's Day, so people may still have been celebrating with family and friends. VT has a pretty expansive food menu along with a wide variety of wine and cocktails. My husband decided to try the paloma, and I skipped the alcohol for this trip. Our entrée orders were the blackened salmon with the beet salad (extra-charge side) and the prime rib with garlic mash and broccoli. The taste of everything was good, although the broccoli had just that, no butter, salt, or any other seasoning. All in all, it was a good meal but nothing spectacular. The drink was tasty as well.

The atmosphere was nice. We were initially being seated in the bar area and noticed we were headed toward a back corner table, but we quickly asked to be seated somewhere else. Quay was our server, and his service was excellent! His recommendations felt very sincere, especially with so many options to choose from. He was attentive and checked on us for refills at just the right times -- which takes skill when guests are dining and deep in conversation. The food was delicious! I would love to return the next time I'm in town to try more items on the menu. Tonight, the whiting plate, spring rolls, beer salad, calamari, and shrimp scampi definitely made my stomach HAPPY!

Quay was wonderful. Perfect timing and willing to split our dishes so that we could taste both lunch sandwiches. Tables were full. Food was off the charts! We had the chicken salad and the club. This elevated basic lunch to a new level.

My first time at Village Tavern and I was highly impressed with the food! I ordered the Thai Chicken Salad for my lunch entree and shared the potato chips as an appetizer. The chips were hot and fresh. My salad was delicious and a big portion size. The interior was nice! It gave me ski lodge lobby vibes. My only complaint was the wait time to be seated. We had reservations and it took 25 minutes past the reservation time once they did seat us. Despite that, service was quick and attentive once we were seated. The Village Tavern is a building on its own in a shopping center. The parking lot was incredibly crowded, so we had to park a little bit further away from the restaurant. Rest assured, you will find parking, but it may not be close when it is a busy season. I would definitely go here again to try more of their menu!

It's not common to find gluten free crab cakes, let alone really fresh and delicious gluten free crab cakes. When the craving hits, Village Tavern delivers! The occasion was a rare get together to catch up with close friends. We sat for our lunch reservation at 12:30 and by the time we left they had begun sitting their dinner reservations. Our server was soo very patient as we took all afternoon. We ate, paid and then stayed and stayed. Eventually we ordered agai, coffee then dessert. By the time we walked out the host said "have a nice evening". I really appreciate the VT staff, they were kind in letting us turn our booth table into our home for the day. Outside of great gf crab cakes, they have a yummy gf pasta option for their chicken and penne dish which is a must for their creamy pesto paired with crispy pancetta. This time I had another craveable dish, the beet salad. The golden beets and vinaigrette are super tasty and it is a really filling salad. My guests ordered the spinach tortilla dip which is the only thing of theirs I have not cared for. The ingredients all make sense but being a Texas girl, this one didn't come together for me. I still plan to dip back in as often as I can for the rest of their tasty menu. On cool evening I prefer to sit outside but their main dining is cozy and well spaced. And the bare scene can get pretty lively at any hour of the day.

Such a great spot! Visited this restaurant for the first time and it was the best choice. The interiors are warm and inviting with plenty seating options, and a huge well stocked bar. The place was moderately busy but we didn't wait long as we had a reservation. We ordered spring rolls, Shanghai flash fried calamari, chicken Colorado, blackened salmon sandwich, chocolate torte, and double decker cheesecake. Everything tasted amazing! I Jewish chicken Colorado had a little more spice or something, but rest everything was a home run! The service was great too! Definitely a great dining spot for anyone in the area!

I went with a large party. There are a lot of choices in the menu. It was a bit hard to decide. I picked the shrimp scampi. Our waitresses were very attentive. They took our orders right away. The food came very quickly for our size party. The dish was presented well, but it was bland. I was expecting more flavor, but I had to add salt and pepper.

First of all, we decided to have lunch with mom on this special Mother's Day and guess what, we finally went to Village Tavern that we thought we would not go because of the reviews. It turned out that the place is legit and amazing. We love the front hosts, bartender and server for our day. We liked our orders and definitely be back to try the other offerings on the menu. Ambiance could not be any better. Thanks crew for an outstanding customer service.

Blown away!! Went here for lunch on a weekend and they were setup well for it. The place was moderately busy, but we did not have a wait since we had a reservation. The service was super quick. We ordered the salmon burger along with the colorado chicken, calamari as starters and the spring roll and the double decker cheesecake and the torte. The food smashed it out of the park for the most lartz we found the colorado chicken somewhat bland and lacking flavor but everything was amazing! The cheesecake was epic, both layers were perfectly cooked and it was delectable. We can not wait to be back here for another date night soon!

Village Tavern is a great brunch spot on the Northwest side of Greensboro. They have been serving up delicious food for at least 30+ years! We like to try to go early and grab a seat at the bar. They get pretty busy for brunch so plan for a little bit of of wait if you aren't there before the church folks start rolling in on Sunday! I have never ordered something that I did not enjoy there.

Personally, one of my favorite stouts. Beer not your thing? They have an array of specialty contrails and some solid liquor choices including buffalo trace's limited purchase bourbon (eagle rare/ blantons). Food: the Brussels, sandwiches, and salads looked amazing (neighboring patting got those). We split a few things: Brisket: nit the best I have ever had, but solid choice. Maybe not for the $, but it was fall apart brisket. Wings: these are crispy fried with sauce on the side. A little hard but good. Not my favorite. The poutine was by far a favorite with the melty cheese and the gravy was delicious. We also had the street corn and with the lime was pretty good as well. These 4 things were plenty for the 2 of us with a little extra. We didn't mind paying the extra because of the experience. I did about die of heat, but I should have put a hair the in my bag and wore a skit or just not jeans. We will definitely be back.

I also tried their garlic parm boneless wings & they were so good. I loved how seasoned & salty they were, although they might be too salty for some people. I really loved it though! Their cocktail menu is also really interesting & creative. It's mostly whiskey of course but they do have other spirits. I tried the peanut butter & jelly Old fashioned and it was surprisingly delicious. It really did taste like a PB&J so I highly recommend. The inside is small but there's a nice outdoor seating area too. This really is one of my favorite places to get food in the area BUT the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because anytime I've been there remotely close to closing, they definitely let you know & make you feel rushed. I'm not one to go to restaurants last minute when they're closing because I know how that can make it difficult for employees, but being somewhere 45 minutes before they close shouldn't warrant getting rushed. I've been there before just to have a few cocktails at the bar about 45 min before closing & had the same experience. I still really love this place & will keep going (but probably not within an hour or so of closing lol)

The staff was so welcoming and empathetic. They immediately brought us towels to dry off and even brought me a blanket! They also gave us some complimentary champagne for our anniversary. Our waitress, Delaney (I hope I'm spelling that right!), was wonderful and even took the time to make me a custom off-menu martini. And then there was the food. We ordered drinks and an appetizer and they came out fairly quickly. The Korean BBQ Spring Rolls are very good! Now for the not so good part. We watched a couple tables around us, get their food before us, and they had been seated after us.. The server had to go back and check on our dish a couple times before it finally came out. I will say the fish and the chips were fabulous, but the corn was terrible and should probably not even be included on the dish. It was WAY overcooked and chewy. The coleslaw left quite a bit to be desired as well. No seasoning, no flavor and was just bland. When it says wasabi coleslaw, I am thinking it is going to have a little bit of a kick to it but nothing. They could definitely save themselves some money by eliminating the corn from this dish, make the coleslaw an option as an up charge and could lower the price on the dish in general or add a third piece of fish instead of the corn and coleslaw. We started out with cocktails. I had a Hendricks dry martini straight up (it was delicious) and my wife had a Don't Call Me Sweetie which is mix of Hendrick's Gin, Lemon, Cucumber, Basil, Simple, Saline 15. It is very citrus heavy, so be advised. She had them cut it with a bit of cranberry to offset the citrus. For main courses, my wife had the grilled salmon and she chose sautéed garlic spinach and wasabi slaw as her sides. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my side was blackened green beans. Let's talk main course first. My wife's salmon was terrific. Flaky and moist and very tasty. My shrimp and grits was unique because it was a real balance between large pieces of shrimp and the grits. Many times you'll order this dish and end up with a pile of grits with some shrimp sprinkled on top. This version is very tasty and a really nice balance of flavors. The Cajun seasonings have it some kick, but it did not overpower. The side dishes are where we had a couple of surprises. First off the sautéed spinach was really delicious, but my wife's wasabi slaw was bland. It's a huge shocker because when you see the word wasabi, you expected to have some Asian kick to it. This did not. It was hard to even identify that it had wasabi in it. That was a disappointment. The surprise was the blackened green beans. They actually were one of the stars of the show. Their flavor and texture was just awesome. We could've ordered a huge bowl of it and eaten all of it. While it didn't need it, there was a dipping aïoli on the side, just in case we wanted to add that to the green bean experience. As I mentioned off the start, Fishbones is a very casual experience. It's very pub-like in that way. We really loved it and the wait staff, which is a team approach as anyone who passes you makes sure you're doing OK, were kind, upbeat and helpful. Even with the bland slaw, we can't lower our rating because overall the experience was terrific. We will definitely come back.
