We had a birthday party at the Kendall outback steakhouse location on Mills Drive on 4/12/2025. We were a party of 18 people. Izzy was our server and she was spectacular!!!! 5stars!! Not a single hiccup throughout the whole 2 1/2 hours we were there. Mike and Rodney (both managers) were very accommodating and made this party very special for the birthday girl. I really wanted to enjoy it here but wow am i disappointed. My bf and i have been meaning to come to outback for weeks to try their tuesday tails special which includes a 6 or 8 oz steak with lobster, loaded potato and your choice of another side. I was also extremely excited to try the shark drink they have which comes with a little shark filled with grenadine for you to pour in, this is a fun little thing everyones been doing where they joke around and shove the shark in the drink so the grenadine comes pouring out. You can say I was really looking forward to that part. However, before I got the chance to realize, my server ended up doing it for me. and on top of that they also did it when i wasn't even noticing so i was already a little disappointed but wasn't going to let that change my excitement for the food. The service did take a while. The fries were great 10/10 it hasn't changed. As you can see in the picture, my steak is literally burnt to a crisp on the top. Not only that but after 2 bites of the steak I started to notice the amount of red I actually had coming out of my steak and my boyfriend was even confused cause he knows I ordered a medium cooked steak. My boyfriend ordered a Rare steak and he said my steak had more red than his did. I was extremely disappointed because not only did the steak get over cooked on the outside of the steak, it was UNDERcooked in the middle... this has never happened to me at outback. I even purchased the 8 oz because I was looking forward to the steak yet I had to leave most of it alone cause I didn't want to eat the rest. I also didn't want to send it back to the kitchen to be made again cause it was already 20 minutes before closing and like I said the service took quite a while. The potato was good and the lobster was 10/10 but I mean this is a steakhouse so of course I was excited for the steak and it just turned out to be a complete disaster. It's St Patrick's Day in South Florida and lots of events going on throughout the city and keeping in mind that it's spring break and 1000 of college kids have taken over the beaches and Wynwood brings up the issue we're do us locals go out for a meal of South Florida Friday night. That's when one of our friends suggest going to Outback Steakhouse in The Palm Town and Country Mall of Kendall. Seems that although this is a franchise it has a full bar and has been consistently good for years. We arrived and greeted by a very dressed out and very friendly host that told us restaurant was fully packed, so we decided to eat at the bar. Gotta say that our bartenders had these great big smiles and were awesome as they greeted us in full St, Patrick's Day attire . We started by ordering their 20 oz. beers with our blooming onion appetizer that was fantastic. For dinner I ordered their St Paddy's Day special Steak & Tail. Yes you read correctly STEAK & Tail and it was absolutely delicious. For dessert we ordered the carrot cake that was fresh and super good while we also watched Mexico beat Puerto Rico in the baseball hall of fame on the big screen at the bar. Horrible service, literally the worst service i have ever experienced. Food is overpriced, drinks are watered down AND they're racist. I was with three of my friends. The bartenders never tended to us we had to literally wave them down each time bedwuse it came to a point where we were waiting 20-30 I watched them, they were constantly checking on their other guests, new bar guests who had just sat down and they frequently checked on them. They never checked on us, never asked us if we wanted another round, they didn't even look in our direction. We tried to get their attention to close out and they never once looked our way. We went for lunch as it was my aunts 95th birthday and she loves Outback's Coconut shrimp and walk about soup. We had a blooming onion to start off. The quality of food is definitely gone compared to 30 yrs ago. It used to be , the go steak house. Not anymore! The sad part was the service. So we were here at 2:20 on a week day and ordered the unlimited soup and salad. To start we asked what the soup of the day was and when we were told French Onion, we said great we would have that with Cesar Salad. Well, we were then told there is an up charge for French Onion soup, even though the menu says soup of the day included. Needless to say we changed our soup choice. We would say good t then took 15 minutes to get our soup and the salad was served shortly afterwards. The first soups we got were the creamy onion and it was rich, flavorful. As for salads the Caesar was swimming in dressing and the house had rotten cucumbers and some rotten lettuce. I wanted to give a special thank you to Pamala and her staff for what they did for me and my family over Memorial Day weekend. We ordered through DoorDash and the Dasher picked up the food, but canceled the order promptly after confirming that he picked it up. That's when I called Outback and explained my situation. I requested if there was a way they could remake the food and I could drive over there and pick it up. Not only did Pamala express empathy for my situation and apologized for what happened, but she and her staff went above and beyond to make sure we were fairly compensated. I believe Outback was blameless in the grand scheme of things, but the fact that they went the extra mile to remake the food for us shows their genuine care for customer service. They really turned a problem into an opportunity. Not everyone is built to serve the general public, but I believe that there are great and respectable people working at this Outback location. The food was also perfectly cooked and delicious (as usual). Kudos to all of the wonderful staff working there and thank you for taking care of me and my family. We walked into the restaurant and after the hostess took care of some things from the previous diners which took about 10 or so minutes were seated right next to the bar. We asked the hostess to see if we could sit at a booth in the dining room. After taking us into the dining room she gives us a table right next to a family with a baby carriage although there were many other tables available. The cheese fries were burned and inedible, the chicken tenders were basically just batter and no chicken. The sautéed shrooms were microscopic and withered. This used to be my go to place but I think I'm going elsewhere after several bad experiences. I have wondered about the wisdom of sending food back at a restaurant. Will the cook throw the next one on the floor and step on it out of spite for questioning his/her ability? I have my answer, at least at this Outback location. This store has had very weak management the past few years and staff are free to perform and behave any way they want. My steak was overcooked. At a family cookout I will eat whatever is handed to me. However, when I am paying for it at post-Covid prices, I want to enjoy my meal. The manager arrived with the second steak and politely asked me to cut it to verify that it was what I expected. I cut the steak in half to find not one, not two, but three hairs on the plate under the steak. I did not bother turning it over to see what else was under there. The appetizer we selected was the blooming onion and it was okay. They brought us the wrong order for both my wife and I. My family has been going to Outback Steakhouse for as long as I can remember. I have always enjoyed their Ribeye steak with a sweet potato and a salad. Years ago, we would always order the blooming onion as an appetizer but for calorie reasons, we stopped ordering the blooming onion many years ago. When we received the blooming onion, it was steaming and just done, which I always love my food to be brought when it is just done, so far so good, the problem was that when I started to eat, I noticed that I was eating mainly greasy batter and not much onion at all. After a few more bites, I gave up and did not want to waste more calories on greasy batter. My husband on the other hand said that this was exactly what he remembered, and that he loved his portion. I guess if he was the one reviewing, he would add the star after all. My Ribeye steak was delicious, it tasted like wood grilled which I absolutist love, and my wedge salad and sweet potato were perfection. Now I know that I will be skipping the blooming onion on my next visit, or my husband will just eat the entire onion if he chooses to order one. Every time I visit, I ask for my favorite waitress, her name is Jessica. She makes you feel welcomed and she is super sweet. has your drinks refilled, she makes the kids laugh and goes above and beyond. My food is always hot and she remembers what I like to eat with all the details. Today my steak was very hard and burnt as you can tell by the picture. I couldn't cut the meat that is how have d it was. I asked the waiter to call the Manager and when I told her all she said was, that's the way it comes out when you ask for the meat well done.
