If I could give negative stars, I would! Never have I ever been refused service from any establishment and pretty much told to leave until tonight! Signed up for online waitlist since we are from unfamiliar with location and noticed it maxed out at 6 guests. So I chose for a party of 6, but when I checked in, I explained that we "technically" had 7. However, my 3- year old was sharing off my plate and I would be fine with her sitting with me. After being told that there was only 2 wait staff and of the 2, only 1 could serve parties of 6 or more, the hostess then said "let me see if she can take you" and doesn't even come back, but sends a belligerent manager!! Not trying to cause any trouble, I listened to every excuse the manager gave, then even asked about splitting our table into 2 tables ( a 4 top and a 3) and we were told that it wasn't going to happen. The SAME thing apparently happened to the family in front of us...I completely understand being understaffed and overwhelmed, but handle yourself in a professional and positive manner!! If they truly are that understaffed, maybe they shouldn't be open! read more

Overall great experience. Against the advice of the other yelp reviewers we went to outback. No local place has wowed us, so why not try a chain. Our waitress was awesome. The food wasn't spectacular (it's outback) but it was consistent with all other outbacks. read more

Ate at restaurant last week. After waiting almost 45 minutes on our food server came to table and stated that the baked potatoes were not done and asked if we would like to substitute mashed potatoes. My wife and I and some family ate there on 31 July 2018 and I have to say that I was very disappointed in the service and in the quality of food. Neither the service nor the food lived up to my expectations of what I have always experienced at an Outback. Don't Go, Horrible service. Went for my Husbands Birthday had the whole family. A table beside us at front door asked the lady for something and the worker told her they had to wait because she had 25 people needing something. I was shocked wanted to leave right then. Ordered 2 blooming onions only put for one in. Brought out blooming onion and no plates. Went to get some from bar and asked for manager found out the lady that said she had 25 people needing something was the manager. She ( Manager) brought plates and everyone of them were dirty. Hated to keep complaining but the server had an attitude Manager not bringing clean plates, and to top it off my Husbands Food was not a good portion for the price very small. Took picture to post but won't let me. I understand your short on staff but you can still have a better attitude. Then server came to pour tea and we could see the bottom of the tea tin, it had black goo on it and that was getting in our tea. Very depressing for my husbands birthday. Ordered take out and had to go inside to get it, the woman then decided to get real snobby cause I didn't leave a tip. I didn't get waited on what's the tip for? She couldn't even bring it out to me. I just brushed it off cause I'm pretty laid back but as I was leaving she decided she was going yell back to her friends and call me a fucking prick. Asked to speak to the manager and he wasn't concerned at all with her actions telling me I needed to leave and he wasn't giving me her name. read more

One of the absolute BEST places to eat in Kill Devil Hills nad not to mention the prices are so reasonable! My family and I vacationed there this summer and the staff was absolutely AMAZING!!! We ended up eating there almost every night of our stay!! One of the nights we ordered our food to go for pick up and the staff was so incredible, We were staying in a hotel with of course no way to cut our steak and they actually gave us a steak knife to cut our food with when we got back to our rooms!! SO very pleased with their service and will be DEFINITELY going back when we vacation out there again!!! read more

Finally,,,new management is turning this restaurant around. Service is excellent, we had Kaitlyn as our server and she was awesome. Good came out right, quick and was excellent. The past couple of years the restaurant has been in decline and we refused to eat there, however, we found out there was new management and decided to give it a try -and glad we did. We came to Outback to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were told as we walked in the door there was a 20 minute wait, yet the restaurant was mostly empty. Our waitress was weird and did a lot of talking to herself. Her hair was just the right length to drag across the food on the trays she carried on her shoulder. The food was not good. It took a long time for it to come out and she even forgot about my husband's salad despite only having two other tables. We had to wait for the check and we paid the majority of the the bill $40 worth of tuck-aways. These are gift cards given for a bad experience at the restaurant...and that would have been hair in both my salad and entree at another Outback. Needless to say, we will not go back to another one. read more

We had an awesome experience on Valentines Day. Our server, Christina, was fantastic. She checked back with us numerous times and responded to our requests immediately. The manager stopped by to check on us and we complimented her on the service and our steaks. We ordered 2 sirloin steaks which were cooked to perfection, tender and very tasty. Ok so it's outback at the obx, that's on me, my son loves OB. First they run out of Fosters, really?! Then they run out of prime rib. Then they bring the wrong food. Then the waiter tells the people next to us that their salads are late because they need to make more ranch dressing? That was classic! Never again.... Well gave it one more try. First of all...it's an Outback, so what are you REALLY expecting? Perhaps I hit this location on a bad night. Sat at the bar and the service was just fine. The patron next to me was unhappy with her salad and I soon found out why with my chopped salad. Brown lettuce, and overall obviously tossed together haphazardly by someone waiting to get off their shift. The rest of the meal followed suit and the small bug in my drink at the end was the final straw. Saw another patron at the booth next to the bar send their meal back because it was unsatisfactory. This was the worst prime rib I've ever had. It was served cold, 8 oz was thin, rubbery, and covered in gristle that made me think they had not cleaned the grill in quite some time. Garlic mashed potato was hot, but so thick you picked up the whole pile with a fork. Not good. Would not return. read more

I used to love this place. Bar was always crowded and food quality was good. However, I'm not sure what's happened in the past several years but this place has gone downhill fast. Ate there last night. Started with a bloomin onion and that was good. Ordered a strip steak with mashed potato and broccoli. Steak just OK, broccoli had long stems and was just thrown on the plate. My wife ordered a small fillet topped with crab. Both were dry and filet was less than 1 inch thick. Most Outbacks are satisfactory, this one very subpar. I won't be going back. read more

My family and I have gone to every restaurant on the Outerbanks and when it comes down to it outback has the most consistently good food and wait staff making it one of our top choices especially in the off season when most everything is closed. My drink stays full, blooming onion is our family's favorite appetizer, and you can't go wrong with most anything on the menu. read more

Visiting from NY: I took our family of four out to celebrate our anniversary. We all loved our food, ( prime rib was perfect, steaks were cooked like we wanted, yummy), waitress was wonderful and on top of her game. My husband ordered the unlimited shrimp with his meal and she made sure that the shrimps were refilled. I didn't give it a 5 star because the folks in the back couldn't get our dessert order correct. We ordered cheesecakes and carrot cake was brought out. Waitress apologized and offered to get us cheesecake to go ( no charge). Anyhow, we got home & it was more carrot cake!! Yikes. Did carry out dinner for five people. Ordered online to make sure the details of our order are right. Order was full of mistakes. Ordered 3 steaks Medium, 2 were very over cooked. Service was slow with not many customers, restaurant was dirty, appetizers did not come out, and most of our meals were not good. Two of our items were taken off because they were late or not edible. This is our second visit to this location. Both times, they do not have the staff to support the demand. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait, 45 minutes later we were seated. When we arrived and when we left, over half of the booths were empty. Our bloomin onion was NOT hot, it was barely warm. I ordered the ribeye medium, it was well done. I told the waitress, she didn't respond. The crab soup was barely warm and actually cold in spots. It's one thing to not have the staff so you have to wait to be seated, but it's NOT acceptable for the food to be cold when it arrives to your table. read more

I live in VA. I used the app to order my moms birthday dinner while she was in Nags Head. I called the manager just to verify, and let him know it was for her birthday. He made sure everything was perfect when my dad pulled up to pick it up. And it was ready on time as promised! My parents said it was the best take out they have ever had and my mom was so surprised I was able to do that. She even called me a "stinker".
