Meh, if you've been to one Outback then you've more or less been to any Outback. At home I have two Outback locations fairly close that I never visit because the prices are on the high side and the portions are small for what you get especially in comparison to Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse. This location follows that trend plus adds in apathetic service as a special kicker just to make sure that everything is totally bleck. The week after Christmas we came for lunch which is not a time that they are normally open but apparently the word was out (or because it was offseason and there are only so many options so whatever stays open is busy) and the place was fairly busy. Let's just say that A LOT of waiting ensued. The host stand was unmanned for a good ten minutes during which time the phone rang non-stop and we along with two other families stood around waiting for someone to acknowledge us or to do anything. Eventually after getting seated another long wait to get our drink order taken, to have the drinks delivered, then a good thirty minutes for the food to hit the table plus a good ten to fifteen at the end to get the check delivered to the table. Lunch at an Outback should not approach 110 minutes in length. As for the food, honestly I don't remember what was ordered at this point other than that none of us had any faith in getting a decent steak at an Outback so we purposely ordered away from that part of the menu. On a positive side the food was edible and I suppose did the job but it took way too long to render and everyone working there seemed very apathetic-annoyed to be there which ruined everything for us and based on the reviews for this location, apparently everyone else too. read more

Reading the other reviews, I still came here unbiased. Boy.. I should had taken heed. Service was slow even though it was hardly any customers and food wasn't tasty at all. Most chain restaurants food "should" taste the same but it wasn't here. The wings was overcooked and salty. The steak taco was also overcooked and under seasoned. Our waitress was sweet as it was her first week, so she kept forgetting our utensils and condiments. My family decided to celebrate my fathers bday at Outback,which is one of his favorite restaurants. We've dined at this particular location on several occasions because it is the closest to where my parents live. Upon arriving we were greeted and was seated within 15 minutes. It wouldn't have taken that long but we were waiting for my father and the table she gave us we didn't like it, so we decided to wait. The waitress was very polite, friendly and welcoming. The wait service was a 7 out of 10. We ordered our drinks,appetizers, and meal which came in out a descent amount time. The downfall was that out of 6 steaks that were ordered only 1 was prepared to satisfaction. The waitress quickly took care of it and within time the staff brought back out the steaks along with fresh sides to my family's liking. Because of this the manager comped a nice amount of the ticket, which is always a plus!! On a scale of 10 the food after the corrections was a 8. Overall it was a pleasurable experience, and a joyous and happy time for my family!! We always have a good time when we are together and good food always helps!! From the start the greater was rude and refused to answer questions about where we were going to sit except to sit at the bar, we explained we don't drink he said mumble mumble and walked around the corner and sat the menus down and walked away. The wait wasn't an issue it was after we got the text message to come in our table was ready that it all went down hill with his bad attitude to the mumble. Appetizers were great, my friends pasta dish although watery was not bad, his wife's Sirloin steak was fatty and not cooked medium well her mashed potatoes were cold and her salad came with no dressing on it. My wife's salad was good nothing exceptional as far as wanting return customers. Normally my family and I stop by this Outback every summer we come into Nags Head. We have never had a bad experience before but there are multiple things to say about this experience. The first problem is that 3/6 people in our group wanted wings and they claimed they were "out of wings." I looked over and saw a family that was there after us get wings. First how is an outback out of wings?! The second thing is that the kids in the group wanted the kids mac. The weirdest thing ever. We were sitting there for about 45 minutes AFTER we ordered and then another lady came out to say that they can't make it... we were all disappointed for the kids then 1 second after another lady came over to say they could make it. After waiting for our food for almost an hour with being the only group in there the kids Mac finally came out without any sauce on it. So turns out they could not make the kids Mac. Then lastly the service was unacceptable and honestly annoying. The sever Tatianna was extremely annoying she couldn't say one sentence without saying "darling" or "dear". I blame the the majority of this poor rating on the back of house people: those who work in the kitchen as well as whoever is in charge of clearing tables and cleaning up the floors. Our service was fine, the waitress was very personable and friendly. The quality in food at this particular Outback differs greatly from what I have experienced at every other one that I have visited. Our appetizers were great. We ordered the blooming petals and the ahi tuna. The petals tasted exactly as expected and the ahi tuna was delicious (it comes with a ginger-sesame dressing, on top of a lightly dressed bed of salad with crunchy asian noodles). Unfortunately, my coconut shrimp was limp and soggy. The marmalade was extremely heavy on the orange zest/flavoring. The steaks in everyone's meal were seasoned and cooked well, however, the sides that came with everyone's meal were quite odd. My side of grilled asparagus was bland and the stems were not trimmed so the asparagus was tough and chewy. Almost everyone at the table ordered broccoli or broccoli with cheese. The length of the stalks on these pieces of broccoli was very comical to everyone, and I wondered how any chef could think that it looked presentable or appetizing enough to send out to a dining customer. And just like the asparagus that I received, the ends were extremely tough and chewy. Another thing I want to mention is the floors in the restaurant. Everywhere in the restaurant you could see and feel a greasy yet sticky residue with every step you took. All of the surrounding tables were covered in dirty plates and beer bottles because none of the bussers were around to clean the tables. Additionally, a waitress dropped a ramekin of cocktail sauce on the floor behind us and it splattered all over the floor on onto our legs and shoes. And there was an unpleasant odor in the place too. Never quite identified it, but it was less than pleasing. For 31 bucks, I had hoped for more. Better portions, quicker service and maybe a more appealing dining experience. I've given this particular restaurant several tries but think I'm done here. I guess we were lucky considering other reviews, but we ate there Friday night and had no issues. Nicky was our waitress and she was great. She handled the heavy drinker/odd couple next to us like a charm (think guy yelling for another drink every two minutes, leaving to smoke, asking to change it to go after being served their food...). Once we were seated by a nice young lady, we were told someone would be right with us. We waited approximately 7-10 minutes and no one had been by and let the young lady know.
