Mashed potatoes..........SALTY Side order of sautéed mushrooms........SALTY On top of that, the portions are small, relative to the price you pay. Food was good, bathrooms clean, and service was friendly. Only advice is have is to clean lights shades over tables. You could clearly see the dust that's been there for weeks. As seen in my picture. Before I let I let the Hostess know about it to save them a complaint. Whether she did anything, I truly don't know. But if they fix this small detail they could be a 4 star. read more

There would be no star at all for my husband and myself for Outback but I cannot submit unless I check one! We visited on Tuesday, early evening 7-11-23, 6:30 pm, looked very quiet and we sat at bar for drinks first, then dinner. We always had wonderful experience there but this visit was not what we expected. No one at all at bar, no one acknowledged us sitting there for 20 minutes or more, my husband waved to two waitresses and asked if anyone was there tending bar area. One waitress answered yes but moved away quickly ignoring our plea. We heard from two women who were sitting at bar, both looking very UPSET eating and both told us its an OFF NIGHT here! Their food was not cooked properly and sent it back, the service was slow or not at all, and no one came by to ask if they needed another drink???? They also said a lot of customers were returning their food because it wasn't cooked to their liking! We were very disappointed, our grandsons had given us a gift card to use and this has never happened to us there before. When I announced to the two nice ladies by our sides that we were leaving and going to LONGHORN, they both said they wished they had done same thing. We will not return to North Haven Outback, we will possibly try Orange, CT.Outback, but not sure if we want to do that? Maybe Outback is not the same place we knew and enjoyed before? Recently went to outback and usually the service and food is acceptable but yesterday was not one of the good days. The waitress had family in another booth and sat with them several times instead of checking where my food was. By the time she checked and delivered it to me, fries were cold and the Alice Chicken I ordered was overcooked, burnt on the edges and dry. Waitress never asked how the food was but I complained as I was leaving. Will I go back, maybe if the manager comments and makes things right. read more

Call ahead if you don't feel like waiting an hour. We went next door to Raymour and Flanigan's , with everyone else that was waiting and looked at furniture. The wings are tasty. The rib eye has some sort of seasoning on it. Way too much. Ruins the flavor of the rib eye. The baked potato is stuffed with so much stuff you can't taste the potato. read more

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews as I've found this Outback to be pretty good as far as food and service are concerned. I brought my parents and boyfriend here for dinner on a week night during the World Cup (we were seated right away and in a comfy bar booth near the TVs) and aside from the typically delicious food (I highly recommend the Alice Springs Chicken, always a very pleasing dinner) as well as their yummy alcoholic drink selection (I'm not a beer person so their alcoholic lemonade was my first choice, and I loved it) we really appreciated our waitress, who was clearly a veteran there as she was training a new waitress in tandem with being a delight whenever she came to check on us or bring us food/drinks. It's probably only the second Outback I've ever been to (the first being one back home in California) but I'd say it was a good night at this particular restaurant. read more

I will never spend a dine in here again. With that said I will go if someone invites me and pays the check. The clam chowder was good. The sweet potato was pretty good but so hot I thought they struck it with lightning before serving it. I think maybe too much microwave time. The buger was less than good. The party was small flat and flavorless. I have had a good burger from Outback in the past so I thought I was safe. I wasn't. The service was abismal. We couldn't leave because our credit card wasn't being processed. First time visiting an OUTBACK restaurant, I met my adult grandchildren to celebrate birthdays they arrived before me. While waiting for me the waitress Ava, gave them bread and water, I asked why they did not have plates and utensils Ava's response, they have not ordered yet. She brought them over then slid them across the table. From that point on Ava's attitude soared to a level of disbelief. As she took our order she shifted from foot to foot to the other her hand leaned on the back of the booth and barely made eye contact with us. I had no time to order an appetizer I asked another Server to put the order in for us. I made comments to my family about her attitude and abruptness. The next thing I knew the Manager and Ava came to the table to find out what the problem was. Our Server never came back to the table we had to ask others to get what we needed. She never returned! The entire wait staff knew, I paid my check left a very small tip as this is based on service and we did not get it from her. Before I left I spoke with the Manager and guess what, Ava came as well, I did not ask for her to be present, so as you see this person was a clueless person who thought this position was her right not that she worked to make me want to give her a WOW tip. I placed an order on Uber eats, at Outback Steakhouse on Washington Avenue in North Haven CT. I ordered a well done steak and chicken breast combo. I can't believe when the order arrived it was trash. The steak was like a hockey puck the chicken breast was dry, the asparagus were soggy and flavorless. Great service as night. Seated promptly (we called ahead to get on the list) Steaks cooked perfectly, got the entire order right. Did happen to be busy in the waiting area as we were leaving, but I happened to notice that a host or server was passing around an appetizer for people waiting to be seated to sample. Have been to many Outback steak houses and love the food. No surprises here as good still yummy with nice variety of new items that all looked great. When we drove into the parking lot at 9:45 the lights at the entrance were all shut off looking they were closed. Based on the rest of my review I believe this might be intentional. For a Friday night the place was dead. The hostess was bent over her stand texting or doing something on her phone when walked in. I told her the front lights were out and she said "ya they are always like that". Not only not very inviting and probably driving customers away as they think they are closed but a huge safety issue after dark. The hostess seemed put out we even came in for a late dinner. Our waitress was very good and attentive and our food and drinks were awesome. We had ordered a blooming onion for an appetizer and when our meal came she had forgotten it but brought it right out but obviously it had been sitting a little while as it was just warm. We were seated in the bar area and absolutely no business at the bar but 2 small tables were taken up by employees visiting and eating. Not sure if on the clock or not but does not set a good example in an open dining room. The general manager of this establishment needs to take a closer look at what is occurring under his leadership or business will fail even more. Not setting a great reputation for a pretty decent chain restaurant. But of course you are only as good as your employees!!!! read more

Doh [...Homer Simpson voice]. My first visit to an Outback Steakhouse was less than steller. Yea, I know, surprise surprise. Perhaps I should have known better. But I had never been before and I had always heard Outback had a devout following. My preconceived notion was that they must be doing something right. Unfortunately everyone at my table was unsatisfied with their meal. Everyone's meat was either undercooked (ie: really really bloody) or too fatty. Considering Outback calls itself a steakhouse, you'd think they would get their meats right. But I guess not. Plus, I was kinda disappointed there wasn't any sauce or anything to go along with my pork chop. Thankfully A-1 sauce came to the rescue. The service wasn't any better than the food. Our server was super nice but forgot to bring us several items we requested. Normally I can let the little things slide but when I need a fork, I REALLY need of a fork. I was just about grab my pork chop with my hands when I caught the attention of a bus boy and he brought me a fork. So yea, I wasn't impressed. The place just seems like a re-packaged Chilis, Applebees or TGIF. To be honest I can't tell any of them apart. They all have the obligatory parking lot surrounding a perfectly square building, a u-shaped bar located directly in the middle, and a waiting room that sits to the right of the maître d. My guess one architect in the country must mass produce this design by the thousands and just slap a different logo on the building depending on the franchise. read more

Placed an order online that said ready for pick up at 7:38 PM. Paid for it online and received an email confirmation. I got delayed where I was and ended up picking up my order an hour late, got there at 8:40 and they couldn't find my order at all. The worker was polite about it but my goodness, it's past dinner time and I don't have patience for this crap. Still waiting at curbside, the manager finally comes out and asks if I placed the order online or on the phone. I showed him the email confirmation and he went back inside. 20 minutes later, the worker comes back out and says sorry it'll be like 2 more minutes. Clearly they didn't make it at all, and 2 minutes ended up being a total of 20 minutes that we were waiting. Manager never even came back out to apologize or comp anything . What a coward. He sent the worker out with the food and the worker apologized. As a manager, he should've put his big boy pants on and acknowledged the error and apologized himself. It would be nice if they fixed their Call Ahead Seating option on their app so it would actually work. Tried it twice and both time sit failed. The first time they said they never received my reservation request. I should them screen captures of my acceptance online that never made it to the hostess. The second time I had to wait. After 30 minutes I went inside for them to tell me they had my reservation but text me my table was ready. Again, I showed the hostess my screenshot that showed I was texted that they were still waiting for my table and to remain in my car. What a waste of an app. read more

We been going here for awhile and now the evening turned on us this time. Our waiter's name is Jared and I believe it was his 4th night working on the floor but I think he should go somewhere else. Our evening started with drinks and then some appetizers. He mentioned that the bar was behind with beverages and our appetizers be out first. They came and we had to ask the girl to checked on our drinks. Now we come down ordering dinner which was a disaster. Our food comes out and some dishes are missing items on the plates. Jared told us that we never ordered those items but will take care of it. Jared never asked how our meal was and if the steaks were cooked right. We try to ask for coffees and he never got it. I believe he was overwhelmed with tables and asking a lot from him, he forgot everything. Now comes the bill....can I say more. OMG that was the worst dinner I've ever had. It was a slaughter! I've been to at least four different Outback locations so far. This one takes the cake! My husband and I went in on a Tuesday after dropping my car off at the Wallingford Toyota for some work. The place was pretty empty but for a few other groups. We were greeted right away and seated just as soon. Our waiter was prompt and the food was THE BEST!! Outback's tend to be hit or miss in my experience, but this place nailed it. Wish the magic of this one could derp into the Southington location (which is ok but not amazing). read more

My 87 year old mother who is recovering from COVID at a rehabilitation facility hasn't eaten well in a month. Today, I asked her if she felt like eating anything special. She asked for a hamburger. I ordered this through the North Haven store. When they first tried to deliver, they could not get into the facility. I called to check on the delivery and was met with such fine folks. A very nice gentleman said he'd make her another one so it would be hot, and Rachel, who was lovely, went back and made sure it got to my mother... She was delighted, said it was delicious, and said she ate more of that burger than she's eaten anything else in a long time. Shame on them. People - it's your hard earned money people; you work hard and that why it is called "compensation". Businesses need to earn it from you - don't EVER feel like you need to settle for subpar treatment because they are busy or short staffed. You can be sensitive to those issues, but those are their issues. Training their employees to make eye contact and acknowledge the PAYING customer, even when they are slammed, is customer service 101 and there is no excuse to NOT receive that minimum level when you are going to turn over cash for service. read more

This was one of the best Outbacks I have been in. We were passing through on our way back home to MA and stopped here because we had a gift card. Since it was Sunday at 7, we were seated right away. We got our soft drinks quickly and the waitress brought out a second loaf after the five of us devoured the first one. Four of us ordered steak and the fifth person, a hamburger. All steaks were tender, flavorful, juicy and cooked to order. The sides were hot and tasted fresh. The burger was large but good, I was told. Since moving to Hamden a few months ago I've ordered curbside from this location several times. SOMETHING IS ALWAYS WRONG WITH MY ORDER. Whether it's missing fries or missing dressing or missing silverware, my order is always missing something. Even more annoying than that their portion sizes are so much smaller than the orange and Ansonia locations. In the future I'll make the drive to one of those locations. I have to eat gluten free. When Outback first came in the area I rejoiced. There were not too many places that have a gluten-free menu, let alone even KNOW what gluten is. I've eaten at this place a bunch of times, and the food is OK, not great. A bit too pricey for what it is, but it's a fall-back place for me if I need to eat out. Don't go there when it's very busy. Make SURE your waitperson actually knows WHAT gluten is before ordering. I've had better luck going to the bar and eating there during some more busy times. read more

The quality of this Outback location has consistently gone down-hill in the past few years. It matches the level of their other restaurants now...Sad! It used to be that every single meal at this location was remarkably stellar. We always gave it high praise. Now, the quality of meat is lacking, (seemingly not aged as long or at all). Portions that don't have a weight measurement listed are smaller, prices are higher (expected), we get a tiny scoop of butter, whipped no less, scooped with a melon baller for the loaf of bread for the entire table (we always have to ask for more). Dry salad with the dressing all at the bottom of the dish (not bowl) which makes it hard to mix yourself. Rib-eye steaks that are supposed to be nicely marbled, tender and flavorful when ordered Medium were awful. The only flavor was from the seasoning. The meat itself was tough. One of us was vomiting all night after saying the meal didn't taste quite right. Food poisoning perhaps? Come on, Outback, get it together. The service was deplorable as well. A young 20 something boy (not adequately trained) was very friendly but not very competent. After taking our order, I informed him that I had no fork, knife and napkin. Instead of turning around to the empty table behind him to get one and then replenishing that one at his convenience, thereby immediately satisfying the guest, he left the area to get one and then promptly forgot. A different person brought out the food (which I dislike, because there is no ownership of the order) and still no utensils. I had to get up and fetch them myself from the table nearby. Probably the exact same scenario why mine was missing. I now consider myself stuck with a gift card that I hesitate to use. It seems like their new business plan is working. I've been going to this Outback location for years, curbside and dine-in. I have zero complaints - the food is always fresh and delicious, the staff are incredibly friendly and is just an overall good atmosphere. Tonight I ordered some late curbside before closing and when I arrived I was saddened to see them appear closed - not a single car in the parking lot. When I pulled up to the curbside pickup I was shocked to see the manager still there - with my order nonetheless! He also gave me a free bloomin' onion coupon to top it all off! This was our first time at Outback but unfortunately probably our last. Positives: Our server was a sweetheart, I wish I could remember her name. The onion petals were yummy, and my entree of steak filet and creamy shrimp with a baked sweet potato were delicious. And dessert was great too, we got the giant cookie. Cons: I figured I could order the Moscow mule because that's easy enough to make and how could anyone mess it up. I was very wrong. "Muddled mint and a fresh sprig of mint" as in the description was not included whatsoever, and I'm not sure if there was even ginger beer. The drink tasted like it was made of fifty percent alcohol but also fifty percent pure lime juice - the bottom was so sour I couldn't finish it. What was worse, my boyfriend ordered the ribeye and it was essentially inedible due to the amount of tendons in it. The waitress and manager were more than accommodating to bring out something different and to take the charge off our bill, but it was strange that they tried to tell him that sometimes ribeyes can have "a lot of fat on them if you're not used to it." First of all, it was not fat, because fat is acceptable and edible. It was literally inedible tendons that you couldn't even cut and second, my boyfriend has ribeyes all the time, so he's definitely accustomed to how a ribeye is supposed to be. All in all, everything else was tasty enough, but I see no reason to be paying 30 odd dollars for an obviously low quality ribeye at a chain restaurant, when we could've easily paid the same for a nice ribeye in a higher class restaurant in downtown New Haven. It just doesn't make logistical sense. Either make your steaks cheaper or get more quality cuts of it to match the price. read more

This Outback consistently delivers delicious food and excellent service. We had a fantastic visit on 11/30. Our server Bianca was very bubbly and friendly, and made our experience great. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu, and gave us honest recommendations. My husband and I both ordered steaks that were so juicy and cooked perfectly. The loaded sweet potato is always a hit. I wish I was able to cook them like that at home. We will definitely be back! read more
