A standard for the Outback chain. We have been here twice & the most consistent part of this particular Outback was the service. Very attentive servers, bus boys are quick to clear a table & the hostess is always very nice. Food was perfect a few weeks ago but a little off this time around. Steaks were both medium well when we ordered medium, but a few weeks ago they were done to perfection. I absolutely hate the amount of red cabbage that Outback puts in their side salad, so this time around, I asked our server to leave them out & without any issue, she did & the salad was much better. The tangy tomato dressing was delicious too. All around, a solid chain restaurant that is very affordable if you order correctly (& have a coupon lol), which was why we stopped in. I know Yelp is usually for non-chains, but I feel it is important that even these places see what their customers have to say. read more

Out to dinner with the family celebrating. There were 7 of us. Our sever, Crystal, was attentive, kind, patient, accommodating and on top of all our needs. After our salads came out shortly after our appetizers. We asked The manager, David (who was helping serve our food), to be sure our dinners weren't rushed. My wife and I have been to Outback many times. We used to go to the one in New London but it closed so we go to this one. We were there tonight and experienced one of the worst dining ever. To start we ordered the blooming shrimp along with our beverages. When the beverages came we ordered our steaks. Our salads came out before our appetizer and then about half way done with our salads the shrimp came out. Then our steaks came out which we ordered medium. Mine was probably medium well which I kept but my wife's was well done! It took awhile for the server came back to tell her and she apologized and took my wife's back. I was going to wait to eat mine but my wife told me to just start eating as it would get cold. So my wife sat while I ate my whole meal and then I sat while my wife ate her meal with no manager ever coming to our table to ask how it was or apologize for our steaks not being cooked like we wanted. Then we had a dining reward that we wanted to use so the server went to add it to our check. We waited about 20 minutes for her to come back to our table saying she had to track down the manager to adjust the ticket. Will probably never come back to this location! read more

Had a really bad experience today on Mother's Day. Long story short. Waited an hour, waiting wasn't the issue because I'm very patience. Just wanted to ask how much longer because the kids grew impatience and tomorrow is school day. Manager and Employee spoke very rudely. Lost my appetite. A friend spoke highly about the foods, so I thought I'll give it a try. I still want to try Outback, just not at this location. I've been to the Outback many times, more so when it first opened. It's a chain, the food is decent for being a chain. Love the cheese fries. Was there this past Monday night, celebrating my nephew's 8th birthday. This was his request. Server was good, very friendly. My dad & my sister's father in law ordered martinis straight up. The waitress brought them over, only for us to see a traditional martini glass that was just about half full. My dad expressed this to the server, she said she'd let the manager know. The manager came over, my dad had said this is not even full, to which the manager explained how their corporate office has a set pour for their drinks. My dad said that was fine but he wasn't paying for nor drinking the drink. The manager said he did want to make it up to them. He came back to the table w the shaker & proceeded to fill their glasses the way they should have been in the first place. My dad reached for the drink and the manager sarcastically said (under his breath) oh you're going to drink it now? I work in the restaurant industry, no matter what the customer is ALWAYS right. I wonder how the corporate office would feel about one of their managers being straight out rude to their customer. I have to say I am pretty upset when it comes to outback and let down. My boyfriend and I gave it a second try but it was a no go. We both ordered a steak and it ended up looking and tasting very well done. The sweet potato with the steak looked like something a dog would eat. To be honest the bread was the best part. I have been coming to this outback for a few years now and I can honestly say that it gets worse & worse with the management that is in and out of there. I was picking up an order on 2/11 and after giving me my food and taking my debit card, they did not come back with the card. I waited about 10 minutes before I sent my fiancé in only to get back a broken debit card. The manager (tall gentleman with glasses) was completely unprofessional and would not even admit that they returned to me a BROKEN card that was completely in tact when given to them. On my last visit I went with a large party and pretty much everyone was pleased, except for one steak that had to be sent back for being undercooked. On the 2nd attempt it wasn't any better, so they took it off the bill. The staff did a decent rendition of their Happy Birthday song. I have been traveling for business and always look for an Outback. Found this location near my hotel and been coming here for last 6 months. Depends on my schedule twice a week normally. Bartender Kaitlynn always treated me good from day one and have become a regular here. The entire staff has been great( Kathryn, Henry, Amber) Dave the Manager also has greeted me and been very friendly. I enjoy my dinners here and hospitality. Outbacks are the same but it's the staff that makes each one stand out. read more

Not COVID Compliant! We tried to eat here two weeks ago but their new 'Host' told us and two other couples coming in there was a 35 minute wait for the totally empty (2 parties seated). I called the Manager who said,"No wait, he's new." We had already gone to another place. This week we waited only 15 minutes and the restaurant was very busy. Got seated. Waitress was friendly but either overwhelmed or never waitressed before. She never came back to see if we needed anything. Never checked to see if food was ok , etc. We ate and dishes piled up. No one came to remove used dishes. We notices STAFF and customers walking throughout the restaurant and leaving (table of four) NO Masks on .. or staff with mask on chin.... We had four staff members come to our table after I asked one to put his mask off his chin! and after we asked them to take away dirty dishes. At that point Waitress put down two fresh salads for table nearby NEXT to our used dishes to pick up the used dishes THEN took their fresh salads off our table. One came to give us a check, a different one came to pick up the payment, another different one came to give back credit card. Never a dull moment, here... My wife & I have been here several times, enough so that the management know us. We certainly don't expect a 3 Michelin Star chef to be at the helm, but for the price level, we'd expect better than what we've received. Now, don't get me wrong, because there are mitigating factors at work, here. First time, within 3 months of opening - Food was pretty good, an elderly woman slipped on their high-gloss waxed floor. About 5-6 months ago, mediocre food. The ceaser salad was very dry with almost no dressing. Tonight, we decided to celebrate my wife's birthday by having a nice dinner out. Pros-fast service, polite waitstaff & although they come out clapping their hands with a slice of cake for birthday diners (they didn't bring my wife one, and yes, they knew), at least they sing/chant that annoying song you find everywhere else. Cons-Ineptitude. Server mistook Mr. Pibb as a Root Beer product, rather than a Black Cherry flavored, Dr. Pepper knockoff. He argued this point with us, before finally getting my wife a bottle of Hank's Root Beer. Food came out undercooked. The sirloin was shoe leather, the prime rib, which I'd ordered Medium, was, as Gordon Ramsey would put it, "f*#$ing raw!!!", even after a trip back to the kitchen. Finally just took it home with me. Manager has discounted us in the past for problems. This time, he chose not to discount... Probably thinks we're the sort to take advantage of the situation and try to get cheap dinners. Not so. I've never asked for a discount. Day of the week sems to be a factor. We thought it would be pretty empty on a Monday night. We were surprised to find out otherwise. I recommend an exercise in judgement. I suspect that the better head chef, who obviously can't work 7 nights a week, takes his day off on Monday. You may have to wait on a Friday or Saturday night, but I think it would probably be worth it. UPDATE: Wife & I had a rough go afterward. Spent the rest of the night running back & forth between bed and the john. Finished cooking the prime rib on the grill the next evening. Tasted much better. Didn't get sick... =) Would I recommend this place to anyone? Possibly, but only if you can tell the difference between cooked and raw. Check your food, especially if you ordered shellfish. read more

Had a poor experience last time out. We got a bounce back appetizer card so we gave it another try. My mid rare steak came out mid well. My fiancées mid well came out mid rare. The manager got involved immediate and fixed the steak issue within 5 min. And then at the end of the meal, the server brings over a complimentary dish of 3 desserts. I usually hate chain restaurants but my husband and I were in the mood for steak and didn't have a reservation anywhere, so we decided to give this a shot. i ordered the Mushroom Marsala Steak from their 4-course menu special. My steak was perfectly cooked and the side of mashed potatoes was delicious. My husband ordered the Smoky Bacon Bourbon Ribye, he enjoyed it but I was not a big fan of the sauce. He also said the ribeye had so much fat on one side that he could not finish it because you couldn't cut through the fat. Our meals came with dessert - they were tiny. They really do mean "personal cheesecake" when they say it - it was about the size of about three bytes. Our meals also came with a soup - when the waiter gave us the choices he failed to mention that there was an upcharge for majority of the soups ($2 each). Not that it's a deal breaker, but would have been nice to know. That, and the fact they charge $3 for a sparkling water threw me off a little bit. My clam chowder soup was delicious though so worth the upcharge. We will come back again, but there seems to be a lack of training with the waitstaff. If there is going to be an upcharge, please tell us. Not that I am cheap, just hate surprises when the bill comes. read more

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the food here. My problem on this particular visit was the service before we were even seated. We called ahead and when we arrived, we checked in and were told by one of the five different people that the girl at the computer would give us a pager. Instead the girl at the computer checked us in and proceeded to tend to other things and we had to ask her for a pager. A few minutes later the pager went off unexpectedly soon so we proceeded to the desk. Somehow they got something mixed up and thought we were only a party of 2 and left us to the side while they continued with their business and didn't tell us what was going on. We had to go over and ask for yet another pager so we weren't skipped over. I have never experienced this type of chaos at this location but it would be enough not to return based on the customer service capabilities alone. read more

Overall my experience at the outback steakhouse was excellent, my server was Henry who was prompt and courteous and always available within minutes notice, the appetizer was blooming onion which was great but the star of the show was the 10 ounce filet mignon which was cooked to perfection and come along with the sides mac & cheese and garlic mashed Potatos. My only qualm was they had a smaller than usual selection of beers & spirits. Otherwise I would deathly recommend anybody that loves steak and is within the Northhaven or Hendren Merritt to come visit this outback steakhouse as the wait times are low, the service is great, and the food is excellent. read more

Went there on a Monday night and it was not up to par. I ordered the No Rules Pasta, and my "grilled" chicken was undercooked and still pinkish!! I had to send it back, and the grilled shrimp was pretty much, just microwaved shrimp with some sauce on it... This is probably the fourth most upscale restaurant in north haven. I only say this in part of the method of service and price. It is a chain but the food is rather delicious and I can go as many times as I'd like and not be bored with the food. Poor service and bad food. We were there for early dinner on a Sunday. The place was quiet so we were seated right away. The waitress took our drink orders, and asked if we wanted appetizers. We said no. She came back with all the adults' drinks but not the milk for my toddler. Then she came back again and asked again if we wanted appetizers even though we'd already said no. I pointed out we didn't get the milk and she said "I know. My manager is getting it". I found this baffling - one because you expect a toddler to watch everyone else get drinks and none for them? and two because why does it require a manager to get milk? I then ordered my toddler's meal and asked that she put it in right away while we were deciding on our own meals. When she came back to take our order (and finally bring the milk), she "double checked" the toddler's order, which meant it was not put in ahead of time as I asked (and in fact arrived last out of all our food). The food itself was bad. The steak was overcooked. I don't have much to say about it. But mostly the service really put me off. I would avoid it. read more

Grilled vegetables tasted like they were rolled around in charcoal and were not eatable. The only thing that was good was the baked potato, which is pretty hard to mess up. My girlfriend made a "get seated faster" reservation through the Outback website. We arrived at 6:30 as the confirmation email stated. Upon arrival we were told there would be a 20 minute wait. When my girlfriend explained the email, the hostess said our wait time was cut in half compared to others (which was not true as she told several parties who came in after us that the wait was 20 min). The kicker - after 25 minutes I asked the hostess if she had any idea how much longer the wait would be.. she said 20 minutes and was extremely rude. In short, try to avoid Outback on busy evenings, and hopefully they hire a new hostess! read more

Had our annual family New Years Eve dinner at Outback North Haven. Excellent service and took care of us with respect to two major food allergies. The blooming onion was perfectly done and the bread was fresh and warm. Our server took care of us from beginning to the end of our meal. Food was cooked perfectly. Steak salad, fillet mignon and burger were delicious. I always see the parking lot packed and now I see why. Well done and A+. read more

I just love this place. I never have an issue and the food is always super fresh and the service is prompt. 2 weeks ago, my family took me here for my birthday. The last time I ate here an 80 woman was choking on a piece of meat a few tables over. Ended up ok. But I felt it oddly appropriate for this place. Service typical of chain locations. We had a friend serving tonight and after she stopped by to say hello we could feel his staring, pacing past our table, asking all the customers around us (but not us) if their service was ok (as if to accuse her of not serving her other tables) it was all very blatant and obvious and it's too bad that after coming to your restaurant because our friend was working, and spending over $100 on dinner, we left feeling angry and intimidated, and would think twice about coming back since we don't want to get her in unnecessary trouble for being hospitable to us (and all the other tables like any good server), and we would prefer to enjoy our night out. Used to come here all the time, like a couple times a month. But each time the food has not been as good and the service too. It's been a while now since we've gone, I'd say over 6 months. So we went and gave it a try. I called ahead and the reception girl said about half hr wait, that's fine, but when we walk in there was absolutely no one there lol. Kinda weird. Anyways we all ordered and my husband ordered his sirloin medium well. Which means a little bit pink. When it came out it was burnt like charcoal!! Could barely swing a knife through it! Anyways we politely asked the waitress to send it back and give him a new one. She did. Meanwhile myself and the other 2 people in our party are eating our food and he's sitting there with no food. By the time his came out were all done. I thought it was extremely unprofessional that the manager didn't even make a visit to our table and I saw him visit a bigger table earlier. It was a younger looking manager and he didn't even bother to send his apologies about the over cooked steak. A good manager would've came over right away and apologized and offered to comp something. Nope. Nothing. Needless to say we won't be coming back here to this outback for a long time. read more
