Yesterday 5/5/22, West broad street location- Outback . we placed the order online for our anniversary dinner. I drove up to pickup the order, they were about 5 minutes late to get the order out, got home about 10 minutes later and when I got my food on a plate and sat down the steak was not cooked as requested-(Was medium and I asked for well done) Steak was cold as was the shrimp, baked potato wads barely warm enough to partially melt butter. My wifes food was also luke warm. Overall a terrible experience and a poor way to spend over $70.00. I filled out complaint form online, no response, thinking about calling the manager tonight, not sure of it will do any good. I will not be going back again. read more

A bit of a crowd when we arrived, so it was a pleasant surprise to not have to wait for a seat. Asked for a booth, and the pleasant hostess seated us by the bar. Good so far... until the server/waitress said to the hostess in a really irritated tone, "Why are you putting people in my area -- what about Jake? (or James or Tom, or whomever she named). Nice to be wanted! Then Jake (or James, Tom, whomever) said to hostess -- "Hey my section is open"!. Hostess said she couldn't get his section to come up on her screen. Everyone looks unhappy. We are unhappy too. So unsmiling waitress, who really, really looked like she didn't want anyone in her area took our order. (Her "area" by the way, looked to be about 5 tables, so not exactly overwhelming). I asked her what was in the chopped salad (because it wasn't listed on the menu) and she yelled over the bar to Jake at the kitchen door to inquire. Classy! So, unsmiling waitress (let's call her sullen Sally) brings the drinks with a loud bang on the table and leaves to go to a table that flagged her down. I can see all the diners are getting the sullen Sally short shrift too -- whoo hoo! She really, really doesn't want anyone seated in her area! Someone else brings the food, which Sally got wrong (extra chives not extra cheese on the potato) and I am hoping that in the numerous times that sullen Sally walks around us that she might notice the empty coke glass at the edge of the table or maybe, just maybe check on our order. Nope. Finally, I flag her down with frantic arm movements and get my refill. I didn't bother with the chives -- I mean, why? She does ask how everything was after it was 90% gone. Sally, since you care so much, here's what I will tell you: The steaks were done right and the rest of the food was ok - except for the salad. You on the other hand need to find a gig you like. For the rest of you: Don't bother with the Pecan chopped salad. It is iceberg lettuce, blue cheese, nasty cheap sweetened pecans that were so strange looking that they looked like crunchy little black beans. Not your standard chopped salad with tomato, cucumber, cheese, etc. So Outback -- we were out and we are not coming back! I've gotten great steaks here everytime I want to treat myself and I cannot complain about how easy the curbside pickup is with the employees. Came here for lunch at the request of grandson, who likes their salmon. He needs to have his taste buds cultivated! Our server was great and very attentive, but that didn't help with the very basic meals. The Cobb salad was like no other I have ever had ... part of a piece of grilled chicken on a big bed of regular old head lettuce including the core and brown pieces. There were a few small tomatoes, I couldn't find any bacon, about a teaspoon of minced up hard boiled egg and bland flecks of cheese. Several of us ordered the Cobb salad and they were all terrible. The salmon was a small piece, not many fries and the broccoli was OK. Another order was the boneless fried chicken breast, which was dry and didn't have much flavor. The bread and butter was tasty. For the amount of money that was charged, we could have gone to a 4+ star restaurant. I'll never return to Outback again! read more

Just a short list of NO service at this Outback. 1. Waitress when we were seated did not have place settings. 2. We were served their bread, limited butter, no plate to eat from and no one ever asked if we would like another. 3. The Waitress showed up and took our orders, again, never asked if we needed more bread, or me a beer, which I did, and she did not refill the wife's water. 4. Our choices were served; the wife's chicken, shrimp, and pasta lacked enough sauce, where's the waitress, to get more, still missing. 5. Over all my steak and sides were good and other than "sauce", the wife did enjoy her meal. 6. Then the waitress appears with the check, "Ask if I wanted another beer", yes, 25 minutes ago. 7. For sloppy, AND lack of service, my wife insisted, as usual, leaving a 20% gratuity, she always, as a British citizen, feels sorry for waitresses for some reason, even those like yours, 'WHO DO NOTHING" 8. We had a very sweet waitress, the salad was good, but as for the rest of the food, it took FOREVER! The sweet potato was tiny and stringy. The coconut shrimp was very greasy. AND THE STEAK WAS HORRIBLE! It was a 6oz sirloin that was 3oz of gristle! Even the best parts were so chewy. I really want to give this place a 2.5. But that would probably be because of the fact that I don't really like the food at Outback overall. So, I am trying to be very objective here....I will have to say that as Outback Steakhouses go, this one is pretty decent. I did preview the menu on the website prior to going. When I arrived, I saw that they had additional "local" items on the menu. That was cool. We didn't wait at all for a table, although the parking lot seemed very full. We arrived around 8:30 pm. As you all know, I love having coupons and I surely had one for a free 6oz. steak dinner, which is how we ended up at Outback. My hubby enjoyed the steak dinner. It was cooked perfectly to medium. He chose a baked potato as his side. The dinner was presented without any regard to plating or any garnishes, so it all looked rather plain on the plate. But it was a decent steak and potato. I, on the other hand, opted for the large version of the quesadilla appetizer. The server was okay. The bread was warm. It was a typical meal at a typical Outback. Not much more to say. read more

This is the first Outback I've been to in Richmond. We came about 30 minutes before closing. Even though we came late, the staff and our server were really nice! I ordered the unlimited shrimp and steak. The shrimp (fried and buttered) came out hot and they always kept asking me if I wanted more when I ran low. My steak was cooked perfectly, I asked for medium rare. I also got the caesar salad as my side dish. They gave me a huge portion of salad at this outback, which was awesome but it's one of my favorites! My BF got the NY strip and asked for medium rare also. His actually came out more well done but since it was close to closing time, we didn't want to send it back. The bread they gave us was a little hard also but nothing to fret about since it's free. This Outback is on the struggle bus. It's one of my least favorite chains, but we live a stone's throw away from this location, so it's good for quick dinners and the ranch is BOMB. The salads are wonderful, but everything else is just mediocre to me. The fries are definitely frozen, the fried shrimp were good, but nothing to write home about. I don't live and die for the pumpernickel bread like some folks, but it's a good precursor for the meal. The place is always backed and there's not nearly enough parking. The wait is never too long, though. While I wouldn't necessarily write off Outback, I'm not itching to go back either until the next time I get a craving for that ranch! read more

Update to my previous 2 star review. It has been changed to 1 star. We just had the worst experience probably of any restaurant experience I have had. To summarize, we were here from 730 to 10pm, the food took forever, the waitress took forever, she blamed everything on the bar, the other staff, the busyiness, the kitchen etc. She informed us it was her last day, I'm sure that was the reason for bad service The bar had like 7 or 8 open seats so it wasn't busy, the restaurant was a normal Saturday, not extra busy, they should be prepared. You couldn't pay me to come back, let alone any outback steakhouse. The food was lackluster and far from what it used to be years ago. Good riddance to bad rubbish. read more

We were trying to order curbside takeout but due to a storm, the restaurant's system went down. Staff were super friendly and handled the stress of the situation very well! When the system came back up we were able to proceed with our order. We all ordered salmon and it was delicious as well as our sides!!! The only request we had is that the "seasonal vegetable" side include more than just broccoli but otherwise, service and food were awesome. I love the Outback Steakhouse. Even the sirloin is so tender just like a filet mignon. I love their spicy seasonings on their steaks BUT if it's too spicy you CAN request that it might be as spicy as it normally is. I love both the house salad and the Caesar. I've been to this location a handful of times as I've been living relatively close by for my whole life. Earlier today, a commercial for Outback came on and I decided I wanted to go for dinner. We got there just after 8pm and I was so excited. There was no wait, our server was beyond kind, and I was ready for my steak. I ordered the 18oz bone-in ribeye and my boyfriend got the filet and lobster tail. We both ordered our steaks rare. When a different server/food runner brought out or entrees, of course he assumed the ribeye was for my boyfriend and sat it down in front of him without even asking us who it was for. Once it was actually in front of me, he didn't even ask us to cut into our steaks to check their cooking. As I did cut into mine, it was medium to medium-rare at best. Once our actual server came to check on us I sent it back requesting one that was more rare, I wasn't upset and didn't mind waiting. About 5-10 minutes later, a manager brings me my new steak and actually does ask me to cut into it this time. The part I cut into was cooked perfectly, and at the moment I was happy. I began cutting it up more and pretty soon I realized that my 18oz steak (that I already know at least 1oz of is the bone) was at least 9oz of pure fat. Now I know that ribeyes are relatively fatty cuts, trust me, I know my steak. This was one of the rare times I actually ordered a steak at a restaurant since the ones I cook myself turn tend to turn out better and cheaper, but I wanted to treat myself tonight. At this point, I was done and severely disappointed, and just asked for it to be removed from the bill, as I didn't eat any of it. Our server and the manager kindly obliged, but when the manager came over to discuss it, she said "so that ribeye was a little too fatty for you?" Ma'am, did you look at it? That ribeye was at least 50% fat. That ribeye was too fatty to bring home to my dogs. The Outback franchise should honestly be embarrassed that that particular steak was even allowed under one of their roofs. I've worked at restaurants since I was 15, I promise that I get it, but I genuinely believe that the kitchen staff was annoyed with me sending back the first steak and chose the worst possible cut available to them to send back out to me. read more

If you know me, you know I am not a big fan of going to chain restaurants.. the reason for this is because I like to support local businesses and go to unique restaurants that serve higher quality food. Let me preface this review by stating that I have never been to an Outback before (gasp!!). When my friend wanted to grab dinner and he suggested this place I was hesitant and wanted to keep an open mind. This restaurant shares their parking lot with Enterprise rent a car so the parking can get full easily. The waiting area is fairly nice and they have some tables and chairs and even a smaller cozy waiting area if you wanted some more privacy. When we sat down at our table I realized that the lighting in the whole place was fairly dim which made it kinda hard to see and possibly romantic? lol. I got the chicken tenders platter and a baked sweet potato with cinnamon and butter. Chicken tenders? Am I seven years old? Yes. Was the tenders delicious? Yes. it was fried perfectly and wasn't dry and they were able to give me a side of hot sauce and ranch at no extra charge. The sweet potato was almost like a dessert for me because it was very sweet and decadent. Our waitress gave us great service and gave us new Arnold palmers about when we were roughly halfway done with our current ones. My friend got the NY strip steak and it looked like it was cooked a perfect med rare. Although this is a chain restaurant, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the service was great. I am not sure what I would get on my next visit though but I would come again. read more

Even though this is a chain steakhouse, it's pretty good! Personally, I like the rib eye. We had a mother/daughter night and enjoyed the lively atmosphere and good grub! The veggies were steamed just right, the potatoes were nice and fluffy and the Caesar salad was crisp. Many places have slogans but may not live up to them, but Outback stands by their words "Steaks done right. Guaranteed." One of the steaks was slightly overdone, and they graciously and happily brought another order cooked perfectly. I hadn't been to an Outback for years....so I stopped in for my nephews birthday. I ordered a few drinks...all were either too sweet or had no balance. After my wife and I had theee different drinks I deferred to beer, which did come cold. The blooming onion and onion petals are as good as I remember. My issue here tonight was my steak. I ordered a filet mignon rare. When it came to the table, it was stone cold inside. When I cut it open, it was obvious us was really undercooked, and the fat lines inside had not rendered at all. I cook steak a lot, and I am trained in cooking...I told my waitress and she tried to tell me that is how a rare steak looks inside. She then said, well the color matches what we have on the menu. I looked at her in disbelief. I then explained that the temperature is way off, and it is still cold inside. She then asked if she should take it and ask them to cook it more and I said yes, please cook it to rare. She then tries to tell me it already is rare. Finally she said she will take it to the back and have them 'warm it up a little more'. After this exchange I was dumbfounded. About five minutes later a manager brought the steak back to me cooked perfectly to rare, as I had requested. The steak was extremely under seasoned. You must season a thick cut of steak a little more aggressively than you do a ribeye or strip. I just simply put my food into a to go container and left. read more

I visit this location for lunch every week. Tiffany, the hostess, is wonderful and always accommodates our seating request. Our normal waitress, Kathy, is great! She is very attentive and knows what we want/need before we have to ask. The food is good during lunch and we have had no issues. Everyone is always friendly.
