I am pleased that Out Back contacted me regarding the sewer and gas odor. This was evident, and they are investigating the matter. I suggested extending the sewer pipe that runs through the roof, slightly taller, to determine if this would alleviate the issue if there is no apparent pipe leak. read more

July 25, 2026 update: Stopped by with the family for an early dinner. Outback has a nice kids menu and is pretty family friendly which is definitely a big plus. The kids mac and cheese and broccoli were plentiful and delicious. The Free Bread is awesome of course and very delicious. I ordered the Sirloin Steak and Coconut Shrimp with Sweet Potato side and Rice. All were delicious and amazing except the Sirloin Steak. I had ordered a medium, it came out as a well-done. I told my waitress and she had the kitchen re-fire a second steak...which came out as a Medium well. That's fine i'll eat a Medium Well. They also threw in a second sweet potato which was really nice. Obviously they need to work on their Steak cooking..you can't overcook a steak twice. Service was fine, but not awesome. They ended up charging me for two steaks even though it was a re-fire for the second steak and I had to point it out to the waitress. Overall the staff was friendly, but it wasn't awesome. The Ambiance of this Outback is comparable to other Outbacks...not too rowdy, music on, great decor and class. A thing to improve upon is that they have some exposed light bulbs where they should have very dim clear yellow lights so they don't hurt people's eyes, but when those light bulbs burned out, they replaced them with too bright light bulbs which hurt the eyes. They have some things to work on...mainly their steaks, but my family and I will be back of course. read more

5/22/26 The service was good for a Memorial Day weekend. With only 2 waitresses working. The cooks were even helping serve food and giving requested items. The Down Under Ribeye Steak was done to the temperature asked. However a little more than a quarter was grizzle. The ambience was casual. Very family oriented. Got Outback Steakhouse to go. It's a chain restaurant, but they do have some pretty decent dishes. The Blooming Onion is definitely the standout. It's a huge, shareable onion cut to bloom outward, battered, and fried with a seasoned coating that's full of flavor. I usually like mine extra crispy, and today it was a little underdone, but the flavor was still good. I ordered the 9 oz filet mignon cooked to order and it was good. Unfortunately, they didn't include the baked potato with all the toppings as requested and only gave me the plain potato, which was disappointing. The bread is always a highlight. I love that they give you soft, spreadable butter. Nothing is worse than getting cold butter you can't spread on warm rolls. My other side was mushrooms, and while the flavor was great, there was so much broth in the container that it felt like I got more sauce than actual mushrooms, which was a bummer. Service was okay. We were supposed to get a text when the order was ready, but it never came, so we ended up waiting an extra 10 to 15 minutes until someone came out and asked for our name. Last weekend I took my husband for dinner for an early birthday night out since we were traveling for his birthday. I ordered the Delmonico Ribeye and he tried the blooming onion chicken. All the sides had to be had too. Mac and cheese, chili, onion petals, and loaded mash. The service was spot on and they really stepped it up. The first steak was a tough cut (which isn't always obvious before prep) and it was about 1/3 just fat and gristle. They willingly changed it out and cooked it to perfection. I order rare plus to med rare because I can never finish them in one sitting and don't like dry steak, and the execution was flawless. We enjoyed the experience and the restaurant was clean and easy to navigate. Our server Lily was so incredibly helpful and friendly. This is by no means fact, but personal opinion... right off, after having eaten many a meal a various Outback Steakhouses across the country, I have never been convinced of, nor delighted in almost any offerings of the much-revered steakhouse. Yet returning to prove myself wrong. Recently visiting one these Aussie wannabe restos, the Outback Steakhouse - Tempe, my mind has unfortunately not changed. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, and I won't criticize folks who like it, to each his/her own tastes, but in spite of their enormous marketing expense, since opening their doors in Tampa and now closing in on 40 years of age, having their ups and downs financially, in my opinion, almost every other corporate lead, chain and franchise steakhouse bunch in America may be a better choice. The Bloomin' Onion don't do enough and not a draw! None of the menu offerings are very exceptional, there flavors aren't extraordinary, their prices barely equitable, their offerings not singular and, last but not least, not much exudes exceptionality to others! Somehow they have not learned or benefitted from their offspring Carrabba's, and I wish they would. It is virtually impossible nowadays to not find conglomerates operating restaurants that can actually provide 1) amazing service: 3.0, 2) excellent attention to detail especially in hospitality: 3.0, 3) cleanliness, hygiene and comfort in their décor, amenities and lavatories: 4.0, 4) an abundant and/or varied food and/or product menu: 4.0, 5) consistently appetizing offerings: 3.5, 6) a sincere customer service: 4.0, 7) unique, innovative or specialized menus: 3.5, 8) value and price of meals: 3.5, and most of all, 9) the inert desire of one wanting to return, again and again for the experience gained: 3.0. These are some if not most of what my basic requirements are when visiting one of these establishments each time. My wife and I, although not professional reviewers, are connoisseurs of excellent foods whether a fine upscale cuisine, middle of the road common eats, or a low-end fast-food joint. In this way, I have developed a to-the-point method for determining the personal worthiness of each establishment visited as noted in my opening. Having visited various Outback venues, I have experienced constantly solid, very good price-quality ratio - in fact, with the investment, it is quite challenging to find much better restaurant steaks. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. It wasn't super busy but there quite a few tables filled when we're seated. After we sat down, it seemed to get busy. The restaurant was clean overall. Staff were observed cleaning in between seating tables. Service was slow. It took a while to get our drinks but the server came to tell us it was because they had to make a new batch of lemonade and apologized for the wait. After we received drinks, it took a while for her to come back to take our order. After we ordered, we were brought bread and butter while we waited for our food. The bread and butter were good. We got spinach dip as an appetizer. It was ok. The chips that come with it are unique because they look like tortilla chips but taste like wonton chips. They were really good. The dip itself needed seasoning. I got a 5oz sirloin steak, coconut shrimp, sweet potato, and a Cesar salad. The salad dressing had a kick, which was nice. Some of the lettuce in the salad seemed old or over saturated with dressing. I ordered my steak medium and it came out still mooing. It was purple in the middle. The waitress was apologetic and ordered a new one. The second one came out under so they refired it. It still wasn't cooked correctly but at this point, I was ready to go. They did comp me for it and apologize which I appreciated. The steak came with garlic butter and that was delicious. The coconut shrimp were humongous and delicious. The sweet potato was good too. My mom got the steak and shrimp pasta, which she enjoyed. This was our first time here. The only major issue was the cook on the steak and slow service. Service was good and restaurant was clean. The one thing I love about outback is the big booth not many left like that even chili is getting rid of them. Soda was great I had 3 diet cokes thanks to the good service. I saw a commercial $14.99 deal so I went to try it. I had coconut shrimp which were not bad. But not amazing either. Granted I'm comparing this to what I have had in Hawaii. Even the frozen coconut shrimp from Costco is better cooked in an air fryer. The fries were just okay maybe slightly undercooked. The plate was hot a clear sign that the problem is leaving food under a heat lamp and not serving it fresh. The coconut shrimp came with a side of ranch which was the final straw. How about some pineapple dipping sauce or something that goes with coconut shrimp. Ranch is not ideal here The salad I had with ranch no onions and it still had a weird taste I can't put my finger on it but I remember thinking the same thing last time I was here which was a few years ago. I used to love the diner salad here but at some point they changed something and do something weird. I also think the bread is weird. Maybe it's an Australian thing but if I'm eating bread I don't want whole wheat or what ever it is. I rather skip the bread because it's just not healthy why try to make it half healthy. We had a bad vibe while waiting for a lunch table at another Outback location, so we decided to boogie on down the road to this location in Tempe, near McClintock and Southern. We were glad we made the move. We were immediately greeted by a smiling hostess who seated us in a clean, comfortable dining area. Our waitress was also smiling and seemed to be enjoying her day. It came through in her manner. We ordered drinks and while we waited, we checked the menu. I like a good cut of sirloin because even though it's a bit 'firmer' or chewier, if handled properly it has a juicy, beefy flavor. My wife had a smaller cut of sirloin and grilled chicken on the side. The waitress took our order, including how we wanted our steaks cooked, and it wasn't but a couple of minutes before we had warm brown bread and butter on the table, along with my soup (A surprisingly good baked potato soup, hot and loaded with toppings), and her Caesar salad. It was also good, I'm told. Our steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked to our liking. Well seasoned, nicely grilled, and sizzling hot. My wife said her grilled chicken cutlet was equally good. She finished every bite, as did I. Baked potatoes were hot, split open and spilling over with toppings. We were very pleased and will definitely return to this location in the near future. We received a giftcard to Outback Steakhouse for Christmas and decided to give the one on Southern Ave a try. For starters, the service provided from one of the managers Felicia was exceptional. We had a few hiccups during our visit, but she made sure to rectify them. ALL of the food we ordered tasted great. The coconut shrimp, fantastic. The toowoomba salmon, flavorful (broccoli was steamed to perfection). However, the drinks we ordered were very inconsistent. I started off with the Aussie rum punch & it taste like syrup. My Fiancé ordered the Maker's Mate initially & raved about it, so I decided to swap my drink for it. We ended up having to get the drink re-made twice, as the drink did not taste the same at all. Felicia was very kind and ended up making the cocktail for us, which was consistent to the first one my fiancé ordered. Our server Adrianna was kind, but at some point it appears our food was never put in the system. Felicia ended up taking care of our tab, which compensated for the inconvenience. Again, the chefs were working hard behind the scenes because our food was great. Overall, this might have been a bad night for the establishment. Horrible from the MOD on down, he was rude and condescending and basically said what you want me to do about it. Curbside states 1100 to 2300, and he said they are not used to it until after 5PM. I had to go in to get my order, no biggie but when it says curbside and asks for your vehicle info, they should follow their info given on the website and not make it is like the customers fault. I feel that this restaurant just has really mediocre food. Every-time I've gotten an appetizer, it's always too salty so I don't order them anymore. My last time there I ordered the fried shrimp appetizer, I couldn't taste anything else but loads of salt so I asked for a replacement, they gave me the wings appetizer, that was extremely salty too. For an entree I usually order the kingsland or queensland pasta, they always barely give me any shrimp, like 4-5 dinky ones and the pasta is never seasoned. Keep it brief. I'm a roadhouse guy ventured out here. Was not unhappy but would not find myself back here over Roadhouse. Steak good. Cooked how I wanted but asked for horseradish and got blue cheese crust. Probably cause the lady ordered blue cheese crust. Mac was amazing I will say loved the little seasoning crust they threw on top. mashed taters were ight, nothing i'd look forward to ordering. Blue cheese salad was good, nothing great. Kudos to the team at Outback, especially the manager (Jim), for providing us with a wonderful experience early Sunday evening (9/24/23). We popped in around 5pm; firstly because I had a craving for red meat, secondly to honor our departed parents' 68th wedding anniversary. It had been a long time since our last visit to Outback, which means there were some new items on the menu. The second we approached the podium, Jim exuberantly welcomed us, and the hostess beside him seated us immediately. Within seconds our server (Ivy) reached our table with waters, followed shortly after with their bread. The Sydney 'shrooms were flavored perfectly, plus they came out hot. The bartender brought us our drinks since Ivy was busy (kudos to the bartender for stepping up!). We ordered a couple cocktails to toast the folks (smoked bourbon & orange something and Huckleberry Hooch Moonshine). The bourbon was so smooth and the moonshine was tasty going down. Jim popped by our tables a couple times, asking how things were going. He was such a personable and outgoing guy, his welcoming vibe put & kept smiles on our faces. The prime rib and Filet Sheila were excellent. We "lost" Ivy for a bit towards the end of the meal, but it did begin to get busier. There was a table beside us that went five minutes w/o anyone approaching their table. Jim had just delivered food to another table in our area, I flagged him down to say something about the ignored table (I didn't want the customers to give a bad review for being ignored!), he was gushing his thanks. He immediately dropped off his empty tray & approached the customers, apologizing profusely for the wait. Dessert was the caramel cookie skillet. Oh. Em. Gee. Mouthwatering! My love for Outback will never fade! It is consistently good, no matter what location I visit. Today, I checked out this location with my mom as an early Mother's Day lunch. Had the 6 ounce outback sirloin with a lobster tail, baked potato, and house salad(not pictured since I scarfed it down before getting my main course). Took the nephews to dinner recently and their pick was Outback......don't get me wrong I love Outback just make sure you hit the gym before hand because this isn't the restaurant to "count calories" you can't go without either the Aussie cheese fries or the blooming onion I mean that would just be wrong! ......so our cheese fries were amazing and their ranch is sooo good and chilled. The twins wanted the coconut shrimp and I'm not a huge coconut fan but the shrimp were very plump and delicious. Wow! I was blown away by their excellent service today! Multiple people came by our table to make sure we were happy. Our server was amazing; got us our waters and food quickly. Another lady came by to get us bread; it was hot and delicious! We didn't even have to wait for more water and bread. The manager even came by at the end to ask about our food and wish us well. I got a baked potato soup, search ahi tuna, and a side of Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious. There were a lot of people there surprisingly; I didn't know it was such a popular spot.
