Party of 8 was quickly seated and hydrated. The dining room was well lit and nicely decorated in the "down under" motif. Service was provided by our waiter, Jack, who also answered a lot of menu questions and took our order. Warm pumpernickel bread was served for everyone, and then salads appeared. The location owner checked on us a couple times to make sure we were all ok, then the food arrived for everyone at once, all received as ordered. We were there for a birthday, everyone chose their steaks and entrees (the menu had pages of options). The birthday boy received a very nice ice cream desert and was very satisfied. The food itself was solid -- I ordered a NY Strip cooked medium well, and it came out exactly as requested, nicely charred and full of flavor. The baked potato was loaded with cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, and scallions, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the service really let the meal down. I ordered a side of seasoned rice along with my baked potato, but it never showed up -- I asked for it three separate times before giving up and telling them not to bother since I'd already finished eating. That kind of follow-through shouldn't take three reminders. The plate presentation also left something to be desired for the price point -- it felt a bit thrown together rather than plated with care. My wife and I came in last night for a date and had a great meal and service. My wife loves the Alice Springs chicken but was also in the mood for a steak. She was happy to see a new menu item that allows for both items in a meal. I stuck to my usual steak and it was cooked to my liking. I visited Outback Steakhouse tonight after seeing all the TV ads, but I left disappointed. I sat at the bar, ordered a steak, salad, and baked potato. Salad was fine, but I noticed no one got bread--maybe they've stopped serving it. Now, I don't even eat bread, but that stood out. The real issue: the steak. It looked and felt off--like compressed cardboard. No flavor, nothing like the well-seasoned steaks I remember from Outback. I asked the bartender if they switched to imitation meat. He didn't think so but got a manager. They took it off the bill, but the manager didn't even say a word--not an apology or anything. Bottom line, it didn't look or taste like steak. If I could leave negative stars I would. On Veterans Day my husband decided he wanted to get us dinner to-go from Outback. He confirmed with employee taking order they were offering a free Bloomin Onion to Veterans and he showed his ID and placed rest of order. OVER an hour later our food is done and he leaves. Upon getting home, he realized over half our food was missing (no sides were in bag and my order was incorrect altogether) and we were charged for the "free" appetizer. We were charged over $70 for a small steak, a blooming onion and a piece of fried chicken. We immediately called Outback and after explaining everything, they took our names and said they would refund the entire order. They didn't so now I'm having to dispute this with my bank. Was at Outback in Wilmington NC last night. Service was decent but have changed menu again and the ribeye I have gotten in the past was called the Rockhampton which I rather quickly determined means low quality, tough and so much meat tenderizer it has the gummy and mushy texture. Was supposedly 13 oz but definitely looked more like maybe 10. Way to thin to cook properly and was well past the medium rare I asked for and could tell it had not been cooked evenly as was well done through about half of it and light pink other half. Absolute worst steak I have ever gotten at any steakhouse I have ever eaten at and at $30, no you can keep that garbage bc that's what I go last night, garbage. Went Friday night and it was really busy. Waited 40 minutes to get seated, however, found seats at the bar and ordered the mushrooms, yelp won't let me spell them like the menu. The waiting area could use some attention--there was what looked like sample cups with cheese set all around on ledges and a random can of Fanta. Steak was not prepared correctly. They took it back to the kitchen and remedied that, but the steak just tasted and smelled wrong. I couldn't eat it. I have not been to an Outback for a long time and found a gift card in my purse. After church we decided to go and have lunch. In the beginning the staff was friendly and pretty on top of things. I believe she said she was new but you didn't notice. We started off with a Bloomin onion. Still as good as I remember. I had a Philly steak sandwich which was tender and had a good flavor. I could have used a little more juice for dipping. My daughter had the wings and took half of them home because there were so many. My girlfriend had a the Bloomin Burger and enjoyed it. We had a little problem when it came time to pay. I gave her the gift card and she thought it was a rewards member card. So when she brought me my bill the $25 had not been removed. We had a little friendly back and forth and she finally got a manager that said, OH no problem we do gift cards. I took someone who had never been before. I told him that I think OS has a good steak. It's not bad, if they don't use too much seasoning. The bread is wonderful and I said we try the famous blooming onion bc it's his first time and we'd splurge! As expected- the bread was fabulous- the steak was good. But the Blooming Onion- was the WORST fried onion I have ever had! Ever! It was clumpy and greasy- and so clumpy it didn't cook all the was through. One of the best meals and customer service experiences we've ever had! My boyfriend and I have been big Outback fans for years because of the the tasty food, however, we never thought of it as a fine dining experience with 5-star customer service until we visited this location. Our server Mo was personable, funny, kind, and gave us the perfect amount of space. He was full of great tips (including the honey butter with our bread) and really tried his best to make our experience a night to remember. We also had a manager come by our table to check in on us kindly and heard many other tables joking and laughing with their servers; A quality service. For our meal we got a 1/2 rack of ribs with mashed potatoes and a sirloin steak with asparagus. All was to die for and I haven't stopped thinking about since. We're not huge appetizer people but anytime we come to Outback we splurge, usually on the onion bloom but this time our server recommended the volcano shrimp and we were so glad he did. It was the perfect amount of saucy, spicy shrimp goodness for the 2 of us in prep for our meal. The complimentary bread was also hot and fresh out of the oven and paired perfectly with the regular butter and honey butter addition! This location is located on busy College Rd but you wouldn't know it once you get inside. It's very quite inside, seats are cozy, and the rooms are spacious enough to accommodate groups and/or couples properly. We visited on a Saturday night and there was no wait time at all. However, we have ordered take out twice in the past few months and ordered the same things. The ahi tuna is over cooked and dry. The shrimp on the barbie bread is always tough and over cooked. The shrimp was so over done my bf spit it out. His rare steak has ended up well on both occasions. Not sure what is going on there. Kitchen staff and proprietor turnover have lowered standards. My family used to eat there 3-4 times a week and my parents haven't been back in several years due to the quality going down dramatically. It's usually a rarity when I post a review for a corporate restaurant / chain, but what I experienced at Outback Steakhouse last night, was nothing short of spectacular. FOOD: Alice Springs Chicken with Rice and a cup of Loaded Potato Soup and my favorite non-alcoholic sweet drink...Mango Lemonade. Over the last 20 years, I have almost ALWAYS ordered the Outback Special Sirloin 6 oz. but my last 2 visits to this Outback, deterred me from ordering another steak this time. The Alice Springs Chicken was very good. Nice char on the chicken, adequate bacon and some mushrooms hiding under that blanket of melted cheese made this a very nice alternative from my norm. The loaded potato soup was wonderful as well but the rice pilaf just didn't hit with my tastebuds on their own. The rice was cooked perfectly but didn't have enough "earthy" seasoning to balance out the powerful red pepper pieces inside. This meal wasn't something that made me stop and look at what I was eating but the overall flavors were nice for the price (see what I did there?). SCORE: 4 STARS!! SERVICE: This is the area that deserves almost all of the spotlight!! We were greeted by Theo shortly after being seated. Theo is an asset to this Outback and should be treated accordingly. His positive energy was present throughout the meal, he was fast, efficient and he knew just when to bring the various segments of our meal out to us. Some servers will bring your entree just minutes after getting your appetizer. Some will be inconsistent with their follow-ups back to the table and some will just give you a simple expectation of service. Theo had no problems in any of these areas and I cannot think of simple thing that could have provided a better experience. Theo...you and your manager, Wesley, appear to have a good thing going. Keep doing what you're doing; you're going places and you will meet the right connections who will take notice of your exceptional service! SCORE: 5 STARS!! OVERALL SCORE: I think I might just go back to this Outback Steakhouse in the future now. Theo proved to me that exceptional service can still exist at these corporate chains.
