After checking out Strand Books, it made me want to slow down and just enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Luckily Outro was right across the street. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking inside it's very spacious with many tables and counter space to sit down from, and even outdoor seating if that's up to your fancy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't really get anything other than a latte because I just wanted something warm to drink since it was a bit chilly in the morning. The latte came out fast and even better, it came with latte art that you could make an instagram post for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The mocha latte was delicious, I don't really have much complaints as the cafe was very inviting with it's jazz music playing and friendly workers just making some great coffee.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately after drinking the coffee I was back out to make my way downtown. I'd come back for more to try out the food/coffee! This place rocks! read more

Incredible little spot I stumbled into! The barista was super nice and calm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The low lighting in the space was perfect for the rainy day I was experiencing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the matcha? Wow. They definitely use a ceremonial grade and I appreciate when a matcha, a good matcha, isn't sweetened because I love the taste. Solid specialty lattes located near Union Square. I keep coming here because it's near transit and people I know. I do love my lavender lattes and I also like their matcha rose latte, although it needed a lot of mixing on my part. We also tried to order the eggs Benedict, but for some reason, they were not able to make it for us because it was a weekday. I was pleasantly surprised at how big Outro's menu was and how big the location was! The lavender latte had a prominent authentic lavender flavors without overpowering the coffee. It has a slight spice to it that added to the flavors. The taro foam cold brew was also tasty! The taro cream had a nice sweet flavor that paired well with the cold brew, but I did hear from staff that they use taro powder to whip up the cream. I do want to go back to check out their matcha and their snacks/food options! This is a nice little coffee and brunch spot a few blocks away from union square that can also serve as a good work from home location or brunch with a few friends. There is a lot of seating in the back (can get a bit dim) but if the weather is nice there is a nice little outdoor patio section as well. Overall been here twice on Friday mornings and there was no issue with seating. There is wifi here but they request that laptops are only in use during the weekdays. There is also a bathroom that is decorated with graffiti. Each table has a QR code so you can seamlessly order anything (you can also order at the counter and the baristas are kind enough to bring it to your table). I got a strawberry matcha both of the times I visited and was a fan. The strawberry flavoring is strong and brings a sweet contrast to the mild bitter taste of matcha. They also put dried strawberries in your drink. The barista nearly decorated each drink. Once they made an error in my order (I got a plain matcha latte instead) they corrected and I gladly enjoyed two drink, which was nice of them. I am also a big fan of their pumpkin spice bread, nice to eat alongside the drink. Overall, great remote work spot during the weekdays with plenty of seating. read more

I came in here today for a respite from the snow, and am so glad I did! Their strawberry latte looked too interesting not to try, and sure enough it was fantastic. No chocolate or anything, just tart strawberry syrup perfectly blended with the smooth milk foam and espresso, and some adorable latte art with freeze dried strawberries on top. I loved it and am already craving another one!! The service was super quick and efficient since you can scan a QR code to place your order, and my drink was ready at the counter almost instantly. Inside it was packed with college students busy on their laptops, they've got some nice music playing and a lot of healthy houseplants brightening up this cozy and warm space. I will totally stop by again the next time I'm in the area! read more

Came on a Saturday and it was quite busy. We sat outdoors in their back patio since all the inside seats were taken. You order up front and they give you a buzzer for when it's ready to pick up. Food was just okay, don't expect any cheffed up brunch food. - Breakfast Sandwich ($11): ham, cheese, scrambled egg, and spicy aioli on brioche. Simple if that's what you prefer, nothing to write home about - Maple Bacon & Egg Waffles ($19): expensive for what it is, like a store bought waffle and 1 piece of bacon and egg. Only positive thing was the maple cream instead of the traditional syrup. I did see more people come here to chit chat like we did, than do work, so if you're looking for a quiet cafe this might not be it or go at an off time. read more

Came across this place as I was walking around and was hungry and wanted to try a new to me place. I looked it up on yelp and it looked good. I thought it was more of a restaurant but when I got there it was more like a coffee shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have many seating options in the front of the shop and in the back. There is a wonderful outdoor area with plenty of seating too. It is very relaxing out there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the avocado smash as It looked good on the internet. When I got it, the presentation was nice. The egg was on the side which was fine. There were pumpkin seeds on top of it which I didn't know before hand or I would have asked them not to put them on and there were also I believe chilly flakes and a type of cheese I am not too fond of and also there was a drizzle of vinegar I believe under the avocado toast. But I guess I should have asked or read what comes with it before ordering so it was my issue. I did not get any drinks here but the coffee and specialty drinks looked very interesting and good. So if I am in the area again and am able to stop in I may need to try one of their drinks and or a coffee. Staff were nice and took my allergies seriously. read more

came here for a saturday brunch with my boyfriend -- i only learned coming in that this was one of the cafes i'd walk by regularly when i was still in college and got , but now i realize i've lost years of good coffee and food. entering the cafe, you walk down a set of stairs to the front, where you can order drinks and food at the counter (the tables also come with qr codes but we didn't notice until after we sat down). the menu is fairly expansive with plenty of options -- i opted for the matcha cocoa and smoked and scrambled open toast (smoked salmon, scrambled egg, and dill butter), while my boyfriend ordered an espresso and the bacon pesto pasta. [[HIGHLIGHT]]there is ample amounts of seating as well as an outdoor area that would've been nice to sit in if it hadn't been so cold, and we sat ourselves after ordering.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] everything was delicious -- the matcha cocoa had classic latte art and while the cocoa overpowers the matcha slightly, it still was the perfect winter drink. the open toast was slightly difficult to eat but each individual component was well prepared (slightly runny soft scrambled egg, score). will say the highlight was the bacon pesto pasta, which was rich in flavor and had me stealing half the plate. overall, a pleasant experience and i'd love to return to try the rest of the menu. read more

We've been going to Ariston in the morning, but this is just around the corner from us and thought we'd give it a try. Picked a strawberry banana smoothie and it was really good. Not to thick but they give you a nice big fat straw anyway. Hubby enjoyed a flat white to go with his Farmers Sandwich. I got an avocado toast. At first glance my toast is really thick. It turned out to soft, but firm. The smash had a subtle lemon flavor and a nice consistency. I can't comment on my husband's sandwich. He ate it all so that's a positive. Overall a breakfast for 2 cost us just under $50. They do make full service breakfast plates if you don't want breakfast sandwiches. Cute coffee shop! This seems like a good work from home space because they allow computers, have wifi and outlets, and have a lot of tables (both indoors and outdoors). For coffee, I got the Taro Outro Coldbrew: - Taro Coldbrew (7.7/10): Really solid drink! It's basically a purple whipped taro cold foam on top of cold brew. If you love taro then you wil like this. There is a great selection of signature lattes such as lavender and matcha rose which I ended up ordering the matcha rose and then the lavender to go. No regrets. Both drinks were tasty as they were beautiful. For breakfast I opted for the breakfast sandwich with ham soft scrambled eggs a spicy aioli and cheese on a brioche bun. Cute cafe perfect for working, coffee and lunch, latte with a friend.... it's just good for it all. First of all, it's a big space! They have lots of tables, little nooks to get a bit of privacy, even a back patio. If it was even a little warmer out, I would have loved to snag a seat out there. The wifi sign was right at the counter, which I love as a chronic cafe WFHer. Vibes are great all around. Order at the counter, grab a seat, and they'll bring everything over your way. I got a hot latte, which came out beautifully, and a toasted slice of banana bread. Perfect afternoon pick me up. They had a pretty great looking lunch menu, so I definitely want to return to check that out on a future visit. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. It was a super rainy day, the inside was packed. We ordered at the counter and then looked around for a table. It seemed as though many were hanging around after eating or drinking coffee, so many of the tables were packed, so we had to head outside where they also had a few tables with a covering above the perimeter. As for the bathrooms, there were people not dining at the establishment but waiting on line. The girl in front of us told us they would hold the door open for us because the bathroom had a passcode, but we let her know we were eating there and we knew the code. We ordered the Brekkie plate, chicken quesadilla, a strawberry banana smoothie and a strawberry fizzy. The food itself was good and tasted fresh, the strawberry fizzy drink was good but it's very sweet. Overall it was an alright experience! read more

Cute place! Good coffee and one friend ordered an interesting matcha coffee. I got the greenwich sandwich which I thought was good but maybe missing a little something? A friend said the bacon egg and cheese was good but a little small, and another got pancakes. Pancakes were pretty good - had a nice garnish coming with yogurt and a glaze and berries. I got the iced taro latte. The foam on the top had a strong taro flavour. However, once it was mixed into the rest of the drink, the taro flavour was nearly undetectable. The rose matcha latte, on the other hand, was astounding. The rose and matcha latte did not compete with each other. It did not taste like a spritz of perfume like some floral drinks so. I would recommend their rose matcha latte over their taro latte for this reason. There was plenty of seating inside the restaurant. The cafe had a relaxed vibe to it. Super cute and cozy coffee shop! There are lots of tables inside, and there's an outdoor patio as well. I like how it's dim inside yet very spacious and conversationally quiet. There is wifi and a bathroom, so it's a great place for studying. I had a matcha coffee - an interesting blend of bitter cold brew topped with a sweet, homemade matcha cream. My coffee came out super fast, and the staff were very friendly. I have also gotten an iced latte, which I like better than the matcha coffee. The latte is rich and creamy. Cute cafe! I came here to work one day, and I loved how many seats there were. Some tables don't have plug outlets though, but this is a lovely place to catch up with friends or get some work done. When the weather is nicer, there's a nice little area outdoors that you can sit at. For my trip though, since I ended up spending a good chunk of the day, I had a cappuccino in the morning, and a breakfast sandwich and the taro outro for lunch. Everything was great, but honestly the taro outro was way better than I thought it would be. It doesn't look outstanding, but it was lovely! Every once in a while when I want a refreshing and tasty coffee drink, I think about the taro outro. I'm excited to revisit and try the other "outro" drinks (the matcha and the Thai tea). I also loved this place because you could order right from your table! Definitely had a great experience here. read more

There are 2 other Buvettes in Asia and one coming soon in London. Buvette does not do reservations. Buvette may sometimes have a few front sidewalk tables, and there's a tiny outdoor patio in the back. The tables and dishware are also tiny. There's a kitchen in the back, but some food is also prepared below the bar in front, where there seem to be some ovens. The food seems reliably consistent here. The menu is short but there are daily specials. I ordered a non-alcoholic ginger soda, crab tartine (a special), lobster a l'Americaine (lobster pot pie) and frites. The soda is always on the menu and is refreshing, with a nice snap of ginger. The crab tartine was fab, a fresh crab salad with avocado atop toast. The lobster pot pie was made in the under-bar oven, a small serving of lobster and veggies with a golden puff pastry topper. Delish. The frites were nicely crisp, served with an aioli. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.

I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure.
