Me and my daughter came here looking to get a breakfast egg sandwich from somewhere clean This place has pasta. YES, PASTA. I've never heard of a small cafe having pasta. My daughter found this place online and we went straight here. We have seafood allergies and we asked them if they can have the cooks wash their hands and change their gloves and they said no problem! Food smells good and looks good. Would definitely come here again
Solid specialty lattes located near Union Square. I keep coming here because it's near transit and people I know. I do love my lavender lattes and I also like their matcha rose latte, although it needed a lot of mixing on my part. The storefront is slightly nondescript and it could be easy to miss. Service is ambivalent. There's sandwiches and a variety of sweet lattes and flavored beverages. Lots of seating where people do work and chat.
A nice café to relax in Union Square. The latte was good & the coffee was strong. We also tried to order the eggs Benedict, but for some reason, they were not able to make it for us because it was a weekday. The breakfast sandwich was decent but a little bit too salty and oily for our liking. Only con was that their WiFi was not functional.
I was pleasantly surprised at how big Outro's menu was and how big the location was! The lavender latte had a prominent authentic lavender flavors without overpowering the coffee. It has a slight spice to it that added to the flavors. The taro foam cold brew was also tasty! The taro cream had a nice sweet flavor that paired well with the cold brew, but I did hear from staff that they use taro powder to whip up the cream. I do want to go back to check out their matcha and their snacks/food options! In terms of seating, there is a cute little nook in the front with lots of sun light, middle section with lots of tables, and outdoor area with benches and tables. Best part is that they allow laptops, even on weekends!! I can see myself getting some work done or catching up with a friend here!
This is a nice little coffee and brunch spot a few blocks away from union square that can also serve as a good work from home location or brunch with a few friends. There is a lot of seating in the back (can get a bit dim) but if the weather is nice there is a nice little outdoor patio section as well. Overall been here twice on Friday mornings and there was no issue with seating. There is wifi here but they request that laptops are only in use during the weekdays. There is also a bathroom that is decorated with graffiti. Each table has a QR code so you can seamlessly order anything (you can also order at the counter and the baristas are kind enough to bring it to your table). I got a strawberry matcha both of the times I visited and was a fan. The strawberry flavoring is strong and brings a sweet contrast to the mild bitter taste of matcha. They also put dried strawberries in your drink. The barista nearly decorated each drink. Once they made an error in my order (I got a plain matcha latte instead) they corrected and I gladly enjoyed two drink, which was nice of them. I am also a big fan of their pumpkin spice bread, nice to eat alongside the drink. Overall, great remote work spot during the weekdays with plenty of seating.
I came in here today for a respite from the snow, and am so glad I did! Their strawberry latte looked too interesting not to try, and sure enough it was fantastic. No chocolate or anything, just tart strawberry syrup perfectly blended with the smooth milk foam and espresso, and some adorable latte art with freeze dried strawberries on top. I loved it and am already craving another one!! The service was super quick and efficient since you can scan a QR code to place your order, and my drink was ready at the counter almost instantly. Inside it was packed with college students busy on their laptops, they've got some nice music playing and a lot of healthy houseplants brightening up this cozy and warm space. I will totally stop by again the next time I'm in the area!
Came on a Saturday and it was quite busy. We sat outdoors in their back patio since all the inside seats were taken. You order up front and they give you a buzzer for when it's ready to pick up. Food was just okay, don't expect any cheffed up brunch food. - Breakfast Sandwich ($11): ham, cheese, scrambled egg, and spicy aioli on brioche. Simple if that's what you prefer, nothing to write home about - Maple Bacon & Egg Waffles ($19): expensive for what it is, like a store bought waffle and 1 piece of bacon and egg. Only positive thing was the maple cream instead of the traditional syrup. I did see more people come here to chit chat like we did, than do work, so if you're looking for a quiet cafe this might not be it or go at an off time.
We stopped in to escape the snow and it was such a delightful surprise! This cafe has so much space and seating. When the weather is nice there's also outdoor seating. I just got a drink but they also sell a wide variety of food as well. You can order from your table and they'll bring your food and drinks to you. Just a short walk away from Strand Bookstore!
Came across this place as I was walking around and was hungry and wanted to try a new to me place. I looked it up on yelp and it looked good. I thought it was more of a restaurant but when I got there it was more like a coffee shop. They have many seating options in the front of the shop and in the back. There is a wonderful outdoor area with plenty of seating too. It is very relaxing out there. I got the avocado smash as It looked good on the internet. When I got it, the presentation was nice. The egg was on the side which was fine. There were pumpkin seeds on top of it which I didn't know before hand or I would have asked them not to put them on and there were also I believe chilly flakes and a type of cheese I am not too fond of and also there was a drizzle of vinegar I believe under the avocado toast. But I guess I should have asked or read what comes with it before ordering so it was my issue. I did not get any drinks here but the coffee and specialty drinks looked very interesting and good. So if I am in the area again and am able to stop in I may need to try one of their drinks and or a coffee. Staff were nice and took my allergies seriously.
We've been going to Ariston in the morning, but this is just around the corner from us and thought we'd give it a try. Picked a strawberry banana smoothie and it was really good. Not to thick but they give you a nice big fat straw anyway. Hubby enjoyed a flat white to go with his Farmers Sandwich. I got an avocado toast. At first glance my toast is really thick. It turned out to soft, but firm. The smash had a subtle lemon flavor and a nice consistency. I can't comment on my husband's sandwich. He ate it all so that's a positive. Overall a breakfast for 2 cost us just under $50. They do make full service breakfast plates if you don't want breakfast sandwiches. There is a pretty little courtyard with seating available. Plenty of spots inside. It does get really loud in there. Doesn't take much for the volume to escalate .
Cute coffee shop! This seems like a good work from home space because they allow computers, have wifi and outlets, and have a lot of tables (both indoors and outdoors). For coffee, I got the Taro Outro Coldbrew: - Taro Coldbrew (7.7/10): Really solid drink! It's basically a purple whipped taro cold foam on top of cold brew. If you love taro then you wil like this. It's not too sweet because the taro cold foam on top mixes into the bitter coffee.
I was in search of a quick brunch spot and discovered such a cute cozy cafe in the process. There is a great selection of signature lattes such as lavender and matcha rose which I ended up ordering the matcha rose and then the lavender to go. No regrets. Both drinks were tasty as they were beautiful. For breakfast I opted for the breakfast sandwich with ham soft scrambled eggs a spicy aioli and cheese on a brioche bun. A great choice for under $15 followed by a side of potatoes for $5. Overall this is an affordable cozy spot near Union that I would come back to.
Came to Outro during the morning time and really enjoyed it! The place itself has an indoor and outdoor area - great for meeting someone to chat with! The food itself was good but I will say that the portions for the maple bacon & egg waffle (7/10) are small. Regardless, the service was great + the people there are so vibrant! I didn't realize I was a waffles over pancakes person until I tried their strawberry tiramisu waffle. BEST waffle I've had. That crisp, that crunch. The lightness of the strawberry ice cream, the freshness of the strawberry sauce, the cream of the mascarpone. So good. Light, delicious, not too sweet. It's so pricey for a waffle but I was so impressed. I did wait about 20 minutes, which was surprising to me since no one around me ordered food, but it was clearly worth the wait. Also, there isn't any espresso or cocoa powder even though the dish has the word 'tiramisu' in the name, so don't expect that. read more

Came here for brunch with a friend around 12:30pm on a Saturday and was worried that there might be a long wait (knowing nyc's brunch scene) but was pleasantly surprised to find ample seating inside as well as an outdoor garden area! I was immediately greeted by the staff and was told that ordering can be done either at the counter or via my phone through the QR code at each table. We decided to opt for the QR as we could both add in what we want and pay through our phones as well! We ordered the strawberry tiramisu waffle and c.a.b.e.t panini for a sweet and savory combo and they were both so delicious! I saw a table next to us order their signature drinks and they look also look amazing, so I'll definitely be back to try them. One thing to note is that they do not have a buzzer or seem to know which table you're seated at, so keep your ears open for your order and name. Overall, highly recommend checking out this spot for a delicious brunch date! read more
A good place for wfh in the area. It's really spacious as they have both indoor and outdoor seating. There are lots of seats, free wifi, and one gender neutral bathroom. The staff wasn't the friendliest but your drink comes out fast and it's pretty good. I highly recommend trying the ube cream cold brew. Cute cafe that actually has a bathroom!! Hallelujah They are known for the different lattes, ranging from various matcha lattes to non-caffeinated options like the golden or lavender latte. I got the golden latte and my friend got the matcha rose latte. The matcha rose latte is really good, not overly sweet and can taste the rose flavors. Golden latte is basically turmeric, ginger and honey, and it tasted interesting. I don't like drinks that have sugar, so it was fine for me. Overall would recommend this place! read more

A cute coffee shop tucked into the heart of NYC -- a friend recommended meeting here for coffee and to catch up, and this was the perfect place to do it. The interior is surprisingly large, with tons of seating and an outdoor patio. It was super easy to order and the food and drinks were out quickly, too! You can seat yourself wherever you prefer, and there were lots of tables open on a Saturday afternoon. I got a Chai Latte, which was a bit on the sweet side but still really tasty. I also got a banana pudding and it was SO. GOOD. I can totally see myself coming back here to work or read a book, as well as catch up with a friend! read more

Located by Union Square, Outro is the one of the best tasting coffees I've had in NYC. They implement a lot of Asian flavors like ube and matcha, which is now being increasingly popular. My friend and I sat at a table by the window and we ordered through the QR code. You're able to sit down and comfortably wait until your order is ready. I got the ube cold brew and my friend got the matcha espresso latte. I loved mine! At first, it was super bitter, but once the ube cold foam was mixed it, it was perfectly sweetened! They also have brunch and lunch options! Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!! read more

So good! Great spot for brunch. They have a large outdoor space in the back. You can pull up the menu and order through your phone. Super easy and convenient. They have a wide variety of really well made coffee. I tried the rose matcha coffee and it was so good! Beautiful to look at and delicious. I ordered the farmhouse egg sandwich. Very tasty and egg was super runny. Filling enough. Also split the berry ricotta waffle with a friend. I really enjoyed it because it wasn't too sweet. There's a light drizzle of honey that balanced out the ricotta and fresh berries. My friends got the salmon and scramble and that dish looked even better! Huge tornado omelet, plenty of smoked salmon with dill cream on top of a large slice of sour dough. I want to go back just to try it next time. Definitely will go back. The prices are also very reasonable! read more

Hidden gem cafe near NYU! I came here on a sunday afternoon to get some work done and it was packed! I was luckily able to get a table as they have plenty of tables both indoor and in an outdoor patio area. They have a pretty unique drink menu and I got the taro latte. I thought it was going to be an espresso drink but it turned out to be cold brew with taro on top. It was pretty good but I'm just not the biggest fan of cold brew. Would come back to try other drinks though! read more
This is a perfect coffee shop to sit and work or read at! There was plenty of seating, including a nook type of area and a couch. The coffee and salad I got was also really good and bigger than I expected. It also seemed like a good place to grab brunch with friends and I would definitely go back for that. read more
I came across this place to rest from all the walking. This place is very cute and their coach was comfy. I ordered two drinks. The matcha rose latte was really good. The the taro outro was more bitter than I thought it would be (not bad though). The service was good and they were friendly. read more
COVID report: Visited with a friend for lunch in late February and had a great experience. The back outdoor area is spacious and covered; there are heating lamps but we kept our coats on. The food: I had the Taro Outro drink, which was cold brew with ube foam on top (extra good once you stir it up), and my friend had the Matcha Outro. As for the food, the farmhouse sandwich was my favorite, though the Outro salad was also great. Side of potatoes were super tasty. Only letdown was the slice of banana walnut bread that I got to eat later; it was sort of dry. Next time: I want to try one of the smoked salmon dishes or the French toast! read more

This is a cute little brunch spot. We came here around 10:30 and there was no wait but many of their brunch items were already sold out for the day! We ended up ordering their ube cold brew, matcha rose latte, berry waffle, and salmon plate. Their drinks are unique and definitely worth trying! We really liked both of our drinks. The matcha rose latte wasn't too sweet and had a subtle floral taste. The ube cold brew was delicious but more on the heavier side because of the cream foam. The salmon plate wasn't anything special but we got this because the smoked salmon brunch plate was sold out. The waffle was a nice mix of sweet (honey) and savory (ricotta cheese). 3.5 stars I met up with two friends here on a holiday Monday for brunch around 10 AM. It was relatively empty, but quickly became more crowded throughout the day. I ordered the veggie benedict, and my two friends ordered the pancakes and the french toast. The Veggie benedict was good - the eggs were cooked well and the beet hollandaise was unique, but it didn't realy taste like anything and left me wishing I had hot sauce. The pancakes and french toast were ok. The service was quick, the restaurant is dog friendly, and the environment is really nice. Although the food wasn't amazing, it's a really nice place to meet up with people and get a bite to eat or a drink. read more

One of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in Union square! I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. It's my go to spot to bring friends and family for coffee and delicious breakfast or snack. Their menu has something for everyone from pastries to egg sandwiches to pancakes. Everything is freshly made and delicious. The cafe has a great seating options with a cute and cozy vibe. The back patio is a great place to catch up and get some sunshine. They also have plenty of power outlets making it a great spot to get some work done. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. They are very helpful with any special requests and always available to answer questions. read more

Omg such an amazing cute little gem!!! I am so glad i randomly stopped with mom and sister at this spot. They have a super cute little back patio with few tables, very clean, menu is available through QR code on the table, you scan and order and they just serve the food to you. The food was amazing, I had the smashed avocado toast, my mom the salmon plate (they made it gluten free for her, my sister had the avocado and salmon waffle which she loved. I got a matcha iced coffee that was bomb, they had smoothies and loved them. Bathroom with code provided by the sever, very clean and spacious. Free water for the table and bottle refill. Cool, hip, full of local people, no tourists which I loved! Must try!!!! read more
Food: Food wasn't bad but it wasnt amazing. I got the customizable breakfast plate with roasted tomato, Herb chicken, brioche and a poached egg. The tomatoes were well roasted. The poached egg was a little over cooked but still yummy. The chicken was a little dry and not seasoned enough while the brioche was a little bland. Atmosphere: This place is more spacious than it looks from the outside. There's an outdoor patio that fits about 15 tables. The atmosphere on the patio is nice when the weathers a crisp 60 degrees. If the outside isn't for you, there are also many many tables inside. Value: My plate was $13, which I guess is alright for NYC, but definitely not worth it anywhere else. I would say most dishes range from $15-20. Presentation is nice but the portion size is not very big. read more

This is a perfect place to come and get some work done while enjoying a variety choice of drinks and food. They have all kinds of coffee drinks, tea drinkers, smoothies, all day "breakkie", pasta (!!). Wifi+outlets and nice seatings. Only thing I would comment about is the restroom, it needs more care throughout the day, otherwise this place would be 10/10 read more

Best Rose Latte I have ever had! Their breakfast sandwiches were flavorful and just the right amount of filling. But holey moley! That Rose Latte thoo! If you enjoy floral flavors this is a must try. It even had pieces of rose petals and a rose bud in it! Probably weird to most people. But I absolutely loved it! I ordered another right before I left so I can experience it one more time before I leave the city! Lol Pics are blurry. But it's a nice little glimpse. Also very friendly staff! Thank you! read more

Super cute cafe near union square and one of the only ones open on Christmas Day! So happy I found this place. The farmhouse egg sandwich was delicious. They had this bacon jam which was different but yummy. The egg is runny and it has avocado and cherry tomatoes with it. Ordered an expresso and matcha latte. Perfect for a Christmas Day brunch. read more
I have seen this spot and put a mental marker to visit. And that happened when I was walking to kill time and became hungry. I devoured their mandarin chicken salad. It comes with grilled chicken, mesclun, orange, cashew with yuzu poppy seed dressing. The tartness in every bite bring future memories of summer/s to come. This spot is so cute! If I woke up early to grab breakfast before work, I'd come here daily. My friend was visiting from LA and we wanted to find time to catch up. This place looked super cute so we decided to stop by at 8am ish to grab breakfast. Everything was well priced and not too expensive. The bartenders are also really nice and patient with my indecisiveness of what I wanted. They have all your normal coffee drinks and a bunch of food. She ordered the morning set and I got the avocado salmon waffle. Everything was delicious and the waffle was yum! I'd recommend this place if you want a waffle for sure! The atmosphere was casual, cozy, and perfect cafe feeling. Can't speak for WiFi quality because I had to tether the internet for my friend when she had to make the phone call but I'd sit here and relax. Overall I'd come here before work on weekday if I had an hour to spare or if I lived near by. Not sure what it is like on weekend or brunch hours but definitely recommend this place. read more

Everytime I've come here I come for the pesto bacon pasta... it's really addicting! Although it's a bit much to eat on my own, so I'd suggest sharing. I just tried the strawberry fizzy today and it's pretty decent though I wish the strawberry jam was mixed more with the soda since the soda at the top by itself doesn't have much flavor. And it's around $6.50 with tax so kinda pricey... But expect everything here to be pricey. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, mainly drawn because of their aesthetic appeal. Finally came for a weekend brunch with friends and it did not disappoint! The waiter quoted a 10-15 minute wait for a table indoors or be seated right away for outdoors. We asked if it was heated outside and they said said, yes. We sat outside for a little, but be warned, it is freezing! We ended up opting to switch to a table inside. Remember to tell a waiter if you change your table since your order is linked to the table that you scanned for the menu. The menu is easy to order from and gives options for customizations, but be cautious of the additional prices (changing from a sunnyside egg to scrambled is an additional 2$!). The food and drinks all looked so pretty, we couldn't wait to order and get our foods but it was difficult to decide what to get! I ended up ordering the lavender latte and maple bacon egg waffle. The latte was just the right hint of lavender and sweetness. And the waffle, well you can never go wrong with crispy savory bacon and waffle done right. Overall, this is a great place to come by for brunch with the girls if you're in the area or just want a good sit down place with good coffee and standard comfort brunch foods. Although we all enjoyed our meal, we agreed that we weren't entirely full. The indoor seating area is also pretty cozy and dimly lit, and admittedly a bit tight. But we never were rushed to leave and the waiters are all so nice here that it is worth a return visit. read more
Sometimes I really crave waffles. And it took me a long time to find a snack-sized waffle that isn't Waffle & Dinges (I want savory sometimes too yknow?) Outro is the bomb.com.org.uk for waffles. Each waffle I had was perfectly made (a lil' crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside) and presented beautifully!! It's almost too perfect to eat. ALMOST. I expected the portions to be small, but they were a good afternoon sized snack and the smoked salmon waffle had a generous amount of salmon! The restaurant is also really spacious! I thought their drinks were very eh (3/5) but the waffles are PERFECT. read more
Very unsatisfied. I got the lavender latte and taro outro. Both were okay! Also had the farmhouse sandwich and French toast. French toast was very dry and the fruit on toast was not fresh and the sandwich was a sad excuse of a sandwich very little in middle or like nothing was really in it. Bread was also very plain. No side salad or anything. The concept of ordering at table was okay but not so obvious. Overall prices were very high for what the items were. Would not come again! read more
Superb secret little hideout right at the end of all the scaffolding- before u see the incredibly fashionable sneakerheads lined up outside GOAT. You would never see this spot if u blink twice. It's like a mini oasis tuning out the city hubbub right outside their recessed doors. Want even more seclusion- go to their outdoor patio. Good unassuming service, late hours on a Sunday afternoon and the best part? Taro cold brew. Awesome dark brew jolts you awake as you receive a small sized cold plastic to-go cup. Unclip the cover and a splendid purple (ube color) inch thick foam with a mint leaf atop. You were supposed to mix that splendid foam and now it tastes like a chocolate coffee. Noms. Shhhhh let's keep Outro on the dlo. read more
Brunch food looks pretty for photos, but the quality is not there. Both of us at the table thought the pancakes tasted microwaved, but was made better by the fruits and mascarpone....until I noticed mold growing on like 3 of my strawberries (yikes!) My smoked 'n scrambled toast had way too much dill cream and the toast was a bit stale and soggy in a way that made it difficult to cut and chew. On top of that, the vibe was weird - the food was brought to our table on the patio by a server, but when I asked for glasses of water he said we had to get it ourselves inside at the bar. The water was in tiny plastic cups which just seemed odd for a sit down place. There was also no music playing outside which made it eerily quiet. read more

Do they have heat lamps?
There are overhead heat lamps over some of the tables along the wall in the backyard. It's decently warm in the backyard anyway though because of the tall buildings that enclose it and block wind chill.
