I really like this company. I was referred to them by a trusted friend and they more than exceeded my expectations. I had been in the house a few years with no inspection. I requested their service wanting a fresh start with a company not chosen by the previous owner (let people earn my business no free giveaways.) Special thanks to Jim who by taking the time to explain to me everything this intellectually curious guy (me) could possibly ask was not only answered but explanations of "why" was also proactively provided. It's also great to meet and catch up with fellow Southern California transplants to ponder how happy we were to relocate and hope that not too many people catch onto the new place we live. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the garage door and the install was absolutely terrible. They left trash all over my front yard and dented the new door and installed it crooked. I had to call them and have them fix it. Then 2 weeks later the metal wire that pulls up the garage door broke and the earliest they could get someone out was 24 hours later and my car was stuck in the garage. Then the garage breaks even worse this time not only does the metal string come off again but the wheel from the bottom track comes off and they said the soonest they can come out it's 2 days later for 12pm-4pm on my Monday. I work 2 jobs to support myself. This is the worst experience ever and I don't recommend this company to anyone. I wish I could give less than 1 star. read more

Had 2 doors planned for our 2 retail stores. Got a quote, had electrical installed was told 3-5 weeks to be installed. They took a big deposit as my order was quite large. Literally ghosted us since they took our money. Cannot get anyone to call me back after numerous message. It has been FIVE months now, nothing.... Absolutely one of the worst commercial experiences I've had in over 27 years in business. Now our task is to try to get a refund on our money, BEWARE of this company. read more

Jim T. answered my repair call. I had a worn garage door bracket that attaches the arm assembly that became stripped and loose over time. He added a new cover to help secure the screws and create a stable door. Very professional and pleasant fella. I highly recommend Overhead Door. DS read more

Please be careful when looking to this company for assistance with your residential garage door - have a LiftMaster Model 8557 with a 41 error code - excessive downward force - made an appointment online was a mistake (would advise not to use the online appointment maker because you have no idea what charges will occur once they are at the home) - Technician James arrived - was here for .33 minutes - description of work was `tried to reset limits on operator and it wouldn't respond needs new powerhead' - this was the only `error resolution' preformed - Technician James did not try to adjust spring or any other solutions that would be preform by an annual maintenance to resolve the matter - Technician James did give quotes as follows: $635 for LiftMaster Powerhead only, $624 for 850 Legacy Wifi, $250 to install customer supplied operator and if customer buys our unit substract $89 from the $159 paid for a call out fee - bottom line $159 paid for quote to spend $546 for new powerhead ($635 - $89 = $546) in .33 minutes - full on scheme - one could have made an appointment for annual maintenance for $89 with same company and at least would have been $70 better off and would have at least have some actual service performed. UPDATE 9/8/2022: Company representative immediately reached out that resulted in a very unexpected favorable customer experience. Thanking all involved for the professional, respectful, and courteous manner in ensuring a satisfied and successful result. Yesterday morning as I was leaving for work, the garage door did not open . . . just what I didn't need . . . got to get to work and the car is now stuck in the garage . . . so I Googled garage door service and called three places that said they had 24 hour service . . . Overhead was the only one to answer the phone, and for that matter, the only repair service people I talked to all day. Donnie, the service manager, was great . . got me scheduled and told me that I would be getting a follow up call from the technician when he was on is way to my house, sometime around 11:00 a.m. Here is my only knock to there service and to me it cost them the fifth star . . . the service technician got hung up at the job before mine and even though the office staff knew . . . no one called to alert me. Tommy, the service technician was unbelievable . . . quick, knowledgeable and took the time to access any other possible problems. He change out two springs, fixed a door strut issue . . . which he did not charge for . . . and now the garage door opens again and has never opened this smoothly or quietly. Would I use Overhead Door again . . . YES . . . problem is , I may never have too. read more

I wish there was a lower rating than one star. It's 2 days before Christmas and this outfit definitely should be expecting lumps of coal from Santa. Omar the man that made the service call was cordial enough but that is the only nice thing I can write. I explained my problem about an intermittent issue I'd been experiencing with my garage opener. I was give a barrage of improbable scenarios as to what the problem was; any where from a new board to a stripped worm screw. Ultimately he wanted to up sell me a new opener with a belt drive. Had I not been just been dealt rash of BS, I probably would have opted for the new opener but after having had my suspicions aroused, I pulled out my phone to compare prices. The cost he quoted for the opener was over double of what I found online. I realize everyone deserves a profit but I felt like they were trying to rob me. I asked to pay for the service charge then and there and told him that I was sorry I called his company. I would have preferred to thrown $83 (cost of the service call) to the wind. I'm confident that it would have made better use of my money. Call Lowes or Home Depot when you have a problem. They don't have repair guys but they do have installers. That is no different than Overhead Door. Just resign yourself to getting a new unit when you have an issue. Merry Christmas! read more

Service call was good with James the technician. Price for new operator in my opinion was outrageous however @ $585. BUT what's really appalling is they only provide ONE garage door opener for a 2 car garage for that high price. You have to purchase a 2nd remote opener for an additional $50 AND also drive to their Tempe office to purchase it. Of course this information was never mentioned to me prior to the installation! So I called Patrick the office Supervisor to complain and he could of cared less and was actually quite rude. He actually sounded like he just woke up. I don't recommend OHD and I'm sorry now that I used them. Addendum (later same day); I called the 800 Customer Service # and the Customer Service Rep, Chaquita, was extremely helpful and suggested then talked me through the process of resetting an old Genie garage door remote I had to work with my new door operator. She even waited on the line while I moved my car out of my garage so I could access the door operator. Interesting the Tempe location supervisor, Patrick, NEVER suggested resetting an "old" remote for reprogramming to be able to use? Neither did James. If they even know that's a possibility? Chaquita also expressed shock at the price I paid for my OHD operator and commented I was overcharged. Live & learn! read more

Our spring broke and we could not get the door to open. I was able to book a next day appointment online. Our door had some complications with an old, outdated spring and frayed cables. Despite needing special parts, they were able to complete the work in less than 48 hours at a very fair price. James was professional and easy to work with, and explained everything fully. We will use this company again for all of our future garage door needs. read more

I had 3 quotes over the phone, these guys were the only one to come out and take a look at my opener. I had to convert from a screw drive to a belt drive and knew it was going to be costly and a pain to deal with in the mean time. I called late in the day and they sent Adam out the next day. I was quoted good pricing and had it installed the next day. Adam was a great technician, professional and friendly. definitely recommend these guys. read more

Should be less than one star. I called this company and set up a specific time during my lunch break. The dispatcher said that they would call me with the day they could come out since it had to be a specific time. I received a call not during my lunch break to tell me that the contractor was there while I wasn't home and no prior calls to let me know he was going to be there! He had opened our gate to our property, drove in the property, and tried to get in the garage in the walk through door while no one was home! I explained when he called me that I needed to ask him a few questions and that's why I wanted to be there with him. I also told him that I couldn't get off of work since I had no prior notification that anyone was coming out. He stated that he would call me back with a time that he could meet me. I never received a call back!!! read more
