The architecture and design of this place are stunning. However for the price, the food and service left me wanting. I was surprised that despite having a coffee shop in house, they did not offer decaf coffee or even a decaf Americano for another in our party. The place was empty but the staff was inattentive to us while constantly sweeping various corners and futzing with the table arrangements. And again empty but seated us away from the windows and the view. The burger was just really basic with limited toppings. I will say that I could not get enough of aioli, I don't know what's in it, but they should put that on everything. read more

We stayed at the Black Rock Mountain Resort and dined here several times for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast, my husband proclaimed their overnight oats was the best overnight oats he has ever had. Sprinkled with brown sugar and topped with chia seeds, crunchy chopped up pistachio nuts, and blueberries, it was a flavorful bowl of oats for sure. The avocado toast was ordinary but satisfying. I appreciated the heirloom tomatoes and the chopped up mint and basil leaves to really give it a fresh, herbaceous taste. For dinner, I thought that the wings and charcuterie board were okay. We really enjoyed the tempura courgette appetizezr, which consisted of lightly battered and fried squash and squash blossom with a smear of edamame jalapeno sauce artistically painted across the plate. The edamame jalapeno sauce was very mild but absolutely a great accompaniment to the dish. I only wish they gave more squash blossom instead of the one! The rest were chopped up pieces of squash. We also really enjoyed the black rock burger, a towering burger with smash burger patties, turmeric pickles, vegetables sandwiched between two charcoal buns. It was cooked perfectly, juicy, and flavorful. The turmeric pickles were very mild and I barely detected flavors of turmeric. Nonetheless, the various components of the burger worked well together to create a cohesive burger that was easily devoured. The margherita pizza was okay. I would prefer the BBQ chicken pizza because it was flavorful and texturally appealing with the crispy onions on top. We had an order of the mountain man pizza, which came with elk merguez, garlic honey, and zaatar but it was quickly consumed by my table. Therefore, I didn't have a chance to try it but everyone who got a slice proclaimed it was the best pizza there. The pasta here is made in-house. The elk bolognaise is a hearty pasta dish that is satisfying with thick, al dente ribbons of pappardelle with meaty elk and pork. The house-made mushroom tortellini is surprisingly light. It is a smaller dish, so it is perfect if you have a smaller appetite. For a more filling pasta dish, I would vouch for the elk bolognaise instead. Another pasta dish that was surprisingly delicious here was the mac and cheese. It is fresh pasta with gruyere cheese. The cheese was thick and gooey, making this a great comfort meal that was hard to stop eating even when full. As for the dessert, the almond tart was nutty, light, and flavorful. The cookie topped with caramel and vanilla ice cream was a heaping portion, where the large cookie was brought in a cast iron pan. It was softy and gooey and the outer edges nice and crisped. In addition to the wonderful food, the service was friendly and warm. We felt welcomed and attended to every time. Sitting near the large windows offered a panaromic view of the mountain range surrounding the area. It was an idyllic scenery to marvel at while dining here. There is also live music a few evenings out of the week, which only added to the lovely ambiance. On one evening, we even celebrated an engagement and they brought out a complimentary dessert to make it special for the newly engaged couple. A group of us ate there and we were very pleased. Located in a hotel, the hotel lobby and fireplace are very inviting. Nicely styled. We started with some great cocktails before dinner and enjoyed the Buffalo cauliflower. YUM! The bison short ribs were excellent with squash and Brussels sprouts. The service was excellent from Nico and we finished off with a shared Monster cookie with ice cream baked in a cast iron pan. There is construction in front of the hotel but don't let that stop you from enjoying a great restaurant and bar in this part of PC/Hideout. read more

This place looks good based on reviews and the pictures that the owner uploaded, but pretty much everything about this place is fraud. The pictures that the owner is providing on here, they don't even offer. Some of the pictures are completely different than what's on the menu, or they aren't even on the menu. We walked in with a party of 12 and there was only one other table busy, so not many at all in this place. We started off the night with our party all having two different menus. When we asked our server about it, he proceeded to tell us that they removed some things like the spaghetti and meatballs because they had instances where they under cooked the meatballs and got people sick. That's not something a server should be telling your table. He also said they had trout and then proceeded to say never mind, we actually have salmon. Again, there was only one other table that had people at it and we still rarely saw our server. He brought us our drinks and food and that's about it. We had the hostess refill our drinks because we didn't ever see our server. Our server forgot a couple of our drinks from the bar. The drinks were very sugary and very inconsistent. The prices at this place are very high, so we figured this place had high quality product. That was not the case. A couple of people ordered some steaks and they were all over cooked. If a server asks you how you want your steak cooked, then the kitchen better get it right. We had a ribeye that was over cooked, and then we had 2 filet mignon SUPER overcooked. They were ordered medium rare and they both came out with no pink. When you order an entree, it's literally just the entree. All the sides are a la carte, so be prepared to have to order some very over priced sides. Some of the sides are decent and some not so decent. Overall, this place is highly overrated and definitely would not recommend. read more

Overlook Restaurant has been a reliable dinning option for us for years now. The hostess was very sweet and always incredibly welcoming. The beignets were good but not as good as usual. They no longer have the French onion soup on the menu. I'm hoping it will come back on the menu. The cheese curds were more of a tempura or pakora texture/batter on the cheese. We gave this place a 4th shot and were pleasantly surprised again. I'm giving 4 stars as it is very loud and the "Overlook" view is pretty much parking lot and the adjacent residential area with a distance view of Deer Valley Bald Mountain. To start I had my usual favorite manhattan drink. $10 yes! Only $10! Still the 1.5 Oz pour but the price is a steal if you know Park City area prices. My wife had the 8 Oz pour Krug Merlot $23. For dinner I ordered the open face ribeye steak sandwich called Steak Frites. It came smothered with peppers and onions and a load of fries. It was very good, tender but kinda overly smoky tasting but still very good. $29 My wife had the 9" Hawaiian Pizza. $16. Definitely cheap enough and looked good. I've had pizza here so I'm going to say the pizza is just pizza. You won't write home about it. The atmosphere is LOUD! Not quite a romantic type place but more resort hotel. It's visually awesome inside. New and mountain modern with lots of exterior glass. A nice big gas fireplace in the lobby. There was also a solo guitarist on the first floor bar area. I recommend the bar for apps and drinks. I took a bunch of photos. I going to say yes, they are worth a visit. read more

Super sad that a lot of things we once loved have been taken off the menu due to a new chef. No more Buffalo cauliflower, no more brussel sprouts, and the truffle aioli that was so good to dip fries in is also no more. We were in Park city for a conference and stayed at the double tree which is approx 5 min walk from this restaurant. We came around 10 am and were promptly seated! Wonderful cool earthy yet modern look and atmosphere. The drink menu was very diverse and there should be something for everyone ! I went for the green juice and loved it ! The breakfast options were unique and some middle eastern flare to it ! I went with the Turkish eggs and my friend had the shahshouka and we devoured our meals thanks to the warm fresh bread ! The view is pretty, the staff is above grade. The place was clean and I was told that almost 90% of the menu is homemade on site which is very impressive. I hade the ribeye and potatoes and my wife has the tortalini. We both enjoyed our meals, and so did our kids. The kids Mac n chz though is not the stereotypical boxes Kraft, I tasted it and it was much better, but just any FYI, it was not a tube/elbow if that is what your kiddos require. We were staying near the Blackrock resort, and decided to try the Overlook restaurant. We came for an early lunch. We were seated in a banquet with a lovely mountain view. Our server was a polite young gentleman. We split a house salad, which was tasty, nothing spectacular... field greens, chopped carrots and cucumbers, the blue cheese dressing was nice. We both ordered an Overlook Burger, medium well with fries. This was beautifully plated. See the picture.... Came with a big pickle slice too!! Love that!! Now the bad news..... my " medium well" burger was pink and raw in the middle. Not one to complain or send food back, I ate what I could. The fries were nice and crisp... loved them!!! While the view from the restaurant is great, the food was just ok. We stayed at Black Rock Mountain Resort for our vacation and for our first night, we chose to dine at the hotel. Marina, the hostess was very sweet and after showing us to our seats, Edgar greeted us. After placing our drink orders, we started with the buffalo cauliflower that was extremely delicious. We placed our order for the hot pepperoni pizza, salmon, fried chicken and cheesy mashed potatoes. The kitchen was overwhelmed and behind on orders so Edgar offered us a side of bread while we waited for our main courses. When we finally received our food, it was evident that the food had sat for a while as it was warm instead of being hot. The fried chicken was good, but the cheese for the mashed potatoes sat congealed in one area and was not consistent throughout. The dough for the pizza was not as crispy as we had hoped and the salmon was a bit too raw. I was only able to eat a small portion of it, but I did not complain. However, the manager noticed and removed it from our bill which was very thoughtful. While we never attempted dinner again, breakfast was very good. We tried the overlook breakfast, fried chicken and waffles, lemon French toast, buttermilk and chocolate chip hotcakes, avocado toast and strawberry beignets. It is really hard to mess up breakfast and I am glad they got it right. read more

I highly recommend all their egg dishes, their drinks, but man oh man... the Huevos rancheros is where the money is at. This place used to be a hidden gem with an outstanding menu featuring New American and local type of flare. It was the only restaurant featuring an Elk Pizza, smoked trout sandwich, and charcoal bun burger that were amazingly unique, and very delicious. For some reason they hired a new chef from a Seattle who revamped the menu to Italian cuisine. It's good but nothing that stands out like the ones downtown and in Kimball Junction. Park City has more than plenty of Italian options, so it's a shame they changed their menu to something that is so common. The restaurant didn't bother to update their menu on the website either. I'm a Park City resident and this was one of my go to places to entertain out of town guests with their version of local food fare, great customer service, and ambiance. Really bummed and hope one day they bring these items back to menu, at the least maybe as brunch options. read more

Unbelievable WORST Restaurant ever!!! I ordered salmon, medium rare, the piece that came was so small and thin that it was well done. The waitress was sorry and took it back. 5 minutes later she came back and told me 3 minutes. 20 minutes later (they had probably tried other small pieces that had come out well done too), I finally received my dish, a thicker cut, which was completely FROZEN!!! The waitress was now embarrassed. A cook came out, sorry too but with no explanation. They wanted to offer desserts. Everybody was done eating (see below) and I was not about to try something else. The desserts came out: the skillet cookie tasted like baking soda and the flourless cakes were so burnt and super dry on the outside that they crumbled (instead of being soufflé-like....and....wait for it....they were FROZEN INSIDE!!!! So I told the waitress, my husband was very pissed my kids could not stop laughing....saying they would call the Dune 2 worms....and it is not over....there was a knuckle long....eggshell in my daughter's cake that we insisted the waitress brought back to the kitchen!!!   As for the rest! 1.      This should NOT be called the overlook  (with a panoramic view) as there is a building being built right in front, very close, taking most of the view. 2.      Skip the $4 bread and butter: 3 small pieces burnt on a grill with no butter, we had to ask for the butter! 3.      Our kids ordered pizza, we had to ask for towels to wipe off all the fat dripping down their hands. None of them wanted to finish it (when every week they order too much to save some for breakfast! We insisted they took it to go. They through it in the garbage can in the garage when wr arrived! Placed a to-go order. The pepperoni pizza was 4/5 per my boys. I ordered the smoked trout sandwich with pistachios and slaw with fries. What I received wasn't what I expected. The fish had a nice flavor but the slaw had broccoli. (?) I don't recall seeing nary a pistachio. The bread was nice and crunchy but was so soaked in butter or oil that I couldn't enjoy it so I threw the bread away. (It should have been lightly buttered and seared.) The fries were a soggy mess. We were staying in the resort so I'm wondering if the fries were that soggy if they weren't made fresh and were just sitting under a heating lamp. I had eaten at Overlook shortly after it opened several years ago and wanted to try it again. I had recently heard mixed reviews and that it was a bit pricy. When we got there at 7PM on Saturday night, there were several empty tables which I thought was unusual for a holiday weekend. After having dinner there, I now know why it was not packed on a holiday weekend. The food is good, but a bit much for what you get. I was there with 5 others and ordered a beverage to start with. I then ordered salmon for my dinner. All entrees are served "A La Carte" and sides are between $7 and $10, which I nor anyone from my group ordered. When my entrée arrived, the portion was small for $28 but was tasty. The service was good, but not great. We had to ask for beverage refills and to replenish the bread which as very good. There are plenty of restaurants in the Park City area to choose from. If price and value are not an issue, then you'll enjoy this restaurant as it's a nice view with good food. read more

Had family in from out of town on Monday February 17, 2024 and wanted to take them to a nice restaurant for a night out. Instead of the night being a pleasant and relaxed evening g ended up being a horrible experience for all. First ordered three cocktails and two mocktails for the table. After 25 or 20 minutes and asking the server about the drinks was informed that the bartender was late. After over an hour and asking about the cocktails multiple times finally 2 of three cocktails arrived but were horrible. The third cocktail arrived 15 minutes later and it was not drinkable either. At this point still no mocktails for the other two. The server agreed to have one of the cocktails remade which ultimately never came. After over an hour and a half we finally received most of the meals we preferred but not one of the salads. Asked to speak to the manager only to be told the manager never came in. After two hours asked for the check and told server to take the salad ( which never came), the two mocktails and the remade cocktails that never came either. At that point the server said the reason the mocktails never came was because the bartender didn't have all the ingredients. It appeared that the servers were taking orders, delivering the good and clearing tables which I'm sure was overwhelming to them. It's unforgivable that a restaurant like this wouldn't have a backup plan to served their guests. If we hadn't paid hundreds of dollars for this meal I might have understood the service but once again this service was not under any circumstances acceptable. With all the other options available for exceptional good and service I can't imagine I would ever go back nor recommend. read more

My husband and I just shared a wonderful experience at this restaurant. This was the perfect place to end out date night. The hostess asked if we had been before and when we said it was our first time, she seated us in the best seat! The booths are private and roomy. We were able to enjoy a beautiful out look of the city below. Our waitress was 2 steps ahead and so friendly! The bread olives and olive oil were unforgettable. Food: We ordered a special salad of watermelon, burrata, strawberries, mint, honey, and some other bits and bobs. It was delicious, balanced, and refreshing. A lovely summer dish. The watermelon and strawberries were very fresh and flavorful, and the burrata was good quality. The honey and herbs were a great finishing touch. We also ordered some of the Buffalo wings, which were well-cooked and flavorful. Your standard wings. Nothing crazy. I had the steak special of the day. It was a sirloin with roasted golden beets, some broccolini, and shrimp. All of it was great except the shrimp I must say. The shrimp wasn't really seasoned. The next day we ordered a pizza to eat in our room, and it was very good. Not incredible, but very tasty. I would order it again. Drinks: My mom ordered a grapefruit ketel one and soda, which was as expected. I ordered the Black Rock Margarita, and it was truly delicious. 5 star drink. The balance of sweet to salt at and sour was excellent, and the floral notes were spot on to balance it out. Ambience: The ambience is nice but the tables are a bit on the small side for 2 people. We were often scrambling to make space for our food as it would come in. The views are lovely, of course, so that's a big draw to the place. Service: Our waiter was a new waiter and seemed a bit nervous. He did a FANTASTIC job and was incredibly kind, attentive, and courteous. My mom asked for an extra napkin for the Buffalo wings and he was thoughtful enough to bring her a lightly dampened one for easier cleaning of her hands. Thoughtful and considerate. 5 stars to the server! Overall: I think if they work out the kinks and pay more attention to the seasoning on some of the items (shrimp for example), it will be an experience nobody can complain about. We were staying at the Black Rock resort and so had to try the restaurant onsite. You do need reservations. The ambience is very dark and cool. Upon sitting down we were greeted by our server and put in a drink order. I ordered a martini and my husband and friend ordered margarita cocktails. All the drinks were well made and tasty. I ordered the brisket paparedelle, my husband had the pork chop and our friend ordered the filet. Everything was great, the only suggestion I have is that my pasta was a bit light on sauce. We ordered another round of drinks as we closed our dinner and were able to relax. Overall the service and food was great and I would highly recommend. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner here this past weekend. We ordered a hodgepodge of items and loved every one of them! Fried Brussel sprouts with bacon were divine. Also couldn't get enough of the French onion soup. (Forgive the photo taken after I tore into the top). A few of us asked for a side wedge salad and they obliged, but wasn't a proper wedge. Still, it was fresh and blue cheese and bacon added were delicious. Also ordered a "side" of their funeral potatoes. It was enormous so mostly went in the to-go box. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but tasty. It's more of a loaded mashed potato dish with a few cornflakes sprinkled in. My friends raved about the "smoking bullet" cocktail! We used to be regulars at the Black Rock Mountain Resort for their brunch. We would come at least once a month. It's been a few months since we have eaten here. We went this morning for their brunch, and we were so excited to have the amazing food we remembered. We were very saddened when we saw the menu had changed so drastically. When we got our food, the portions were much smaller, and the food was not near as good. The hashbrowns used to be our favorite, but now they are the same you would find at a regular diner. They were mushy with no flavor. The bacon was sub-par. Half of the bacon was rubbery, and the other half was burnt. The eggs were supposed to be over easy, but they were overcooked. The bloody Mary's were half the size they used to be for the same price, if not more. We are very disappointed that Black Rock has lowered their standards. We won't be going back. read more

we live locally and have been here a few times, ordered pizzas to go a couple of times. usually its fine but this last time was just not good at all. we got the wings, which were the saddest looking wings I've ever seen. My husband said they looked like pigeon wings not chicken wings because they were so small.....and they were dry and tasted not good at all. Unfortunately, the pizza which used to be really good, has changed for the worst. Its now super thin with no crust. Please change the pizza back to what it was before!
