I started researching a month in advance to educate myself on the in's-n-out's of the burial and funeral home process. There is a plethora of information and white papers online which can help guide even the novice through the shark infested waters of this business and industry. When I finally made the decision to purchase my needed casket outside of the funeral home industry in order to save over $1000 on my casket purchase, I contacted customer service. I called the customer service department more than 1/2 dozen times over the next several weeks. I never felt like I was infringing on their time or bothering them with my repeated questioning and calls. Often I would make multiple calls in a single day. Sometimes within the same hour. Did I forget to say, "I never felt uncomfortable?" AND, each time I called I spoke to the very same person! Kudos OvernightCaskets! It's sweet when you hear, "Yes, I remember you." and the conversation picks back up where you left off during your last call. I could list a number of great reasons I finally decided to use OvernightCaskets for my upcoming purchase, but the single most defining reason was the way the casket was packaged and protected for shipping. The website was very clear about the process. The additional protection offered by the robust packaging was blatantly obvious. My casket was delivered to me in Central Virginia today and the delivery drivers unpacked the casket and it was beautiful! Perfectly packaged as advertised and protected as hoped. My funeral director was impressed and even made several remarks about the quality and some of the STANDARD options which were only available at additional cost on the high end Baskerville models. Saved myself a cool $1,775! As far as another post on the forum referring to their inability to read a web site, a quick and simple phone call to customer service made the East Coast / West Coast warehouse distribution process very clear and understandable to me. And to gripe about a $300 shipping charge after saving more than that from what would have been spent at a funeral home is far beyond the boundaries of good common sense. As for the possibility of product damage during shipping, being in the shipping business I can tell you it happens all the time. The OvernightCakets website has more than adequate information describing the possibility of this occurring, the impact this could have on your burial arrangements and scheduling along with the necessary remediation steps. If you want to remove that risk, then you should make all your purchases from store shelves after the retailers have removed all the shipping damaged items from their deliveries. Whining and crying like this can be easily resolved in these cases by using your local Funeral Director (Businessman) for all your funeral and burial needs. He would be more than happy to pay the $300 shipping cost on a casket and charge you 4X's as much. I know I would. My Father suddenly passed away August 7, 2014, and we were familiar with his wishes. We used the funeral home that handled our uncles arrangements. The cost for the basics was $5030.00, but when it came to the merchandise, i.e., casket ($8,000.00), vault ($1,600), memorial books ($800.00), & obituary ($500.00), etc., the prices were astronomical. The top of the line was over $12,000.00. Their basic model was a wooden box for $3,000.00 from a horror movie. The cost of the merchandise would have made the final funeral cost over $20,000.00. We found Overnight Caskets online and paid $899.00 for a much better quality casket than we chose at the mortuary. We got the vault from a local company for $795.00 cash. Our final cost for the funeral was $10,000.00 and that included the monument as well. Overnight Caskets' website was so professionally done we just clicked and ordered. The representatives we spoke with were wonderful. Even though my sister succumb to stress and forgot to order the casket in a timely fashion, Overnight Caskets insured that the casket arrived at the mortuary right on time. We were able to track the casket online to insure that it was going to arrive on time. The casket arrived earlier than we expected. Once it arrived, the mortuary staff wanted to know exactly who we ordered the casket from, and the director did a Vanna White with us once the casket arrived. He was so impressed with the hardware, locks, handles, interior, etc. He gave us a casket overview that was over the top--we were a bit creeped out by his enthusiasm. When everyone saw the casket, they were amazed at the quality, style, price, and the words were--it was fit for a king! It was the week of Christmas 2014. My father-in-law passed away on Dec 22nd. We (the children) wanted a funeral but the wife did not. We had to cut costs by doing our own stationary, purchasing our own casket, etc... We missed the cut off time for Costco and with Christmas week, we were in a bind. Sitting in the rain in my pickup with my wife frantic. We thought we'd have to go to the funeral home and pay at minimum of $2,500 and the maximum believe it or not was over $10,000! (Not an option) I googled retail caskets...Overnightcaskets.com came up. Not knowing anything about them, I was concerned. But I called anyway. I got ahold of Jeffrey and he helped me like you wouldn't believe. It was late in the afternoon and he wasn't sure I'd be able to get one by the Friday visitation. He called and got ahold of an airline to get it flown out the very next day. Do to Christmas, I wasn't able to get it until Friday morning (the morning of the visitation) My nerves were frazzled! Would it arrive? Was it going to be quality? I had to get home, find one I wanted and let him know. He actually held a driver until I confirmed I wanted to get a casket. He got it out for a final delivery on a flight. He sent a confirmation email that it was on a flight the very next day. I saved even more money by actually picking up the casket myself Friday morning from Delta Cargo at Eppley Airfield in Omaha, and delivering it to the mortuary. (Not kidding) Yes seemed a bit morbid, but we did it. I paid $1450 (including shipping over the holiday) but saved almost $3,000 compared to what the funeral home wanted for a similar casket. I purchased a mausoleum when my husband was first diagnosed with bone cancer. I also prepared myself by looking online for a casket. It was wonderful to shop at home, under no pressure and read about the casket features and make an informed - calm decision. I found Overnight Caskets and they had a superior selection with exceptional detail and explanations. Three years later he had a heart attack and passed. I was devastated and in shock, he had been doing very well after chemo and radiation. He was working and going to the gym 3 days a week. I am forever grateful for Overnight Caskets. My family and I are so appreciative that we found Overnight Caskets. I tried to order online and reached out to them via online chat because I needed the casket to be delivered to the funeral home and the burial vault delivered to the cemetery and did not know the best way to include that information in the order. So helpful from order and all the way through. I called them 2-3 times after the order was placed to check on the status and they always returned my calls promptly. Their website is easy to navigate and once you select on one of the locations, you can see the options that are available for quick delivery. I ordered late Monday night, paid $300 for overnight and they did arrive to the separate addresses before 4pm Wednesday. Actually arrived before 2. They used an excellent shipping line- Estes- they provided me the tracking numbers with Estes. I could enter in the tracking numbers on the Estes site and get real-time shipping statuses. And the product was perfect- exactly what we wanted. In this time of need and being financially limited, was so grateful for everything this company provided. After being treated just horribly by another company -- I found this company on the internet. A chat was instantly started and the rep (Steve) was so great to chat with and provided me with all the information that I could then give to my father, who was looking for a casket for my Mom. My father then called the number and got Steve. I honestly cannot say enough about how well my Dad was treated by this man, and he was able to purchase an absolutely beautiful casket for my Mom. When our father passed away, he did not include a casket in his "pre-arrangements." He knew, as we knew, that there were other places to purchase a casket (Wal-Mart, BJ's) and save a significant amount of money. So when he passed away on January 20, 2015, we were "shopping for caskets" during one of the darkest hours of our lives. My husband found overnight caskets and I have to say they did a wonderful job! I was a little skeptical that we'd get the casket by the date we needed it, for the price listed with the quality looking as nice as it seemed online. It seemed a little too good to be true. I read a few reviews, saw they scored high w/ the bbb and decided it was hopefully worth a shot. If it didn't arrive on time I don't know what my plan B would've been. It came when promised at the amount shown online w/no additional costs whatsoever and was just as good looking in person. It seemed very sturdy and beautifully crafted. The inside was so soft. The funeral home place thought it was gorgeous and was very impressed. It surprised me they said this considering they sell caskets. I would use them again in a heartbeat! My family says this is where we will get all our caskets from in the future. (It was $500 less than the lowest priced casket at the funeral home we were using). My Mom passed away January 13, 2015 and I called that afternoon at 4:30 to order a casket and have it overnighted to the funeral home. It arrived at 12:30 the same night at the airport and was delivered to the funeral home the next day. It was stunning and many people commented on just how stunning it was. I wanted a particular Casket for my son that passed suddenly. At the Funeral home it was over $4,000 and with Caskets Overnight it was $995. plus shipping. Total $1200 overnight. The next morning I got a call from the Funeral Home saying the Casket was in and it is being delivered to my home town now. I ordered in the late afternoon and it was here at the funeral home by 3. I was so thankful! When I went up to the Funeral home to see the casket it was BEAUTIFUL! Everything and more I wanted for my young 17 year old son. I had no problems with Overnight Caskets. I ended up calling them, because it was a weekend and the website said there was some kind of a need for me to call instead of ordering online. I did so. Everything went smooth as glass, the gentleman on the other end "Steve" was very courteous and respectful. I was pre-ordering a casket for a loved one who was fairly close to death. We were expecting it would be about a week or so. So.... we were taken aback when he died a day and half later! I called that day and Steve assured me we would receive the order within two days. The morning after my mother-in-law passed we ordered from Mark at Overnight Caskets. The casket arrived within 24 hours and exceeded our expectations. Our funeral director was very easy to work with and had no problem accepting a casket from an outside company. The funeral director had a question about whether the casket was full or half couch, and I pulled it up on my phone for him to see the specifics. He told me that we paid less than he could purchase the casket for at his wholesale prices! I loved that everything was included - pillow, blanket, etc. There were no hidden fees or upcharges. OMG, I was frantic because I wanted Grandmother to be buried in a purple casket because, in the Bible, it means royalty. The casket was arriving five days after the funeral.
