Why did we eat here? Whisky Creek serves both American as well as Thai food, so we came to order from their Thai menu. A weird combo. We were in Bishop to ride White Mountain, so we understood the food was not going to be great. 4.2 on Yelp, 4.3 on Google Menu was wide ranging with everything from burgers to Thai dishes. The food was ok, about what we expected. Service was ok when ordering but never came back to check on us or give us the bill, instead socialized with other patrons. Food Review: Spicy basil shrimp ($17.95+$2) was a soy sauced based shrimp dish. Decent, but not exceptional. 7.5/10 Curry Pineapple ($17.95) was supposed to be spice level 1 but seem to be spicer than that. I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years. My friends and family also eat here regularly, and until yesterday I had always received exceptional service. That's why this experience was so shocking and disappointing. The problems started shortly after we were seated. My two children and I waited for service while multiple tables that arrived after us were greeted and served first. I remained patient because I understand restaurants get busy. Later, my children wanted to play one of the arcade games but needed a dollar. I politely asked if I could borrow one and either reimburse it through my tip or be charged for another item. In the past, staff members had been happy to help with similar requests. This time, our server, Anthony S., who identified himself as a supervisor, refused. While I was disappointed, I accepted his answer. He was under no obligation to accommodate my request. Afterward, I privately told the hostess that I felt Anthony had been rude. I intentionally did not confront him because I wanted to avoid creating a scene in front of my children and other guests. Yes I was passionate and called him a name. It's my opinion and I have the right to express how I feel. But again, I didn't tell him anything in order to squash the situation and move on. Instead, Anthony approached my table and confronted me in front of other customers. He demanded to know why I had called him an insult and accused me of "assaulting" him. I explained that expressing an opinion to another employee is not assault and that I had never confronted him directly. Rather than de-escalating the situation, he continued arguing with me in front of my children. The conversation became increasingly uncomfortable. Anthony repeatedly told me that he didn't owe me anything and had no reason to go out of his way for me. I explained that while he certainly wasn't required to do me a favor, great customer service is what creates loyal customers. At that point, I simply wanted to pay my bill and leave. I asked for my receipt, but instead of ending the interaction, Anthony returned and continued confronting me. As a woman alone with two young children, I felt intimidated by the situation. He eventually told me to leave the restaurant and continued following me toward the exit while the confrontation continued. The following day, I called hoping to speak with management. Anthony answered the phone, identified himself as a supervisor, and told me I would need to speak with the general manager because he couldn't discuss the incident. I want to be clear: this review is not about being denied a dollar. Employees have every right to say no. It is about how I was treated afterward. No customer should be publicly confronted, argued with, accused of something they didn't do, or followed to the door while trying to leave--especially in front of their children. If management truly wants to understand what happened, I encourage them to review the security camera footage. It will show the interaction from beginning to end. After years of being a loyal customer, this experience left me feeling embarrassed, intimidated, and deeply disappointed. Unless this is addressed, I won't be returning, and I hope no other customer has to experience what my family did. I also wish I would've recorded him. In the future, I encourage people to record rude interactions like this with their waiters. I hope this is not swept under the rug. My wife and I stopped in for lunch returning from Mammoth Lakes and were completely satisfied. The fish tacos were delicious and the club sandwich was generous and both dishes were excellently presented. Stopped in for breakfast. First time in and I was craving Steak and Eggs. I ordered it cooked Medium rare and an additional 2 eggs (over easy). Crispy Hash Browns and sourdough toast. My wife ordered the Avocado toast with fruit. And she said it was delicious! Our server was Trina and she was amazing! Always checking in and making sure we were happy! We have only driven through bishop and never stayed there. We are glad we did and found whiskey creek to eat at. The chicken and steak were yummy tasting. Very nice I liked as soon as they asked where we wanted to sit.. they have the bar side separate from dining side. Ribeye streak with garlic mash. Steak came out hot which was a plus for me I love my food hot.. seasoned just right not over and not under very flavorful and tender it's 12oz so we shared it. The garlic mash again was just right over the top with gravy with a dollop of carrot just the right touch. Portion size was just right. Had a side sunshine salad the dressing was sweet with the little tart not to much but they mixed my salad in it. Sad I didn't get bread you can't have steak and salad without bread.. Staff was super nice they said on Thursday nights they have sax player when we were leaving they started getting more people. Don't get dessert would like to try the crème brûlée but was to full. How does a Texan go to a steakhouse and not get a steak? When he goes to a restaurant that has two chefs and one cooks tasty Thai food. I had the Whiskey Creek pad Thai with beef (medium heat). My pad Thai was nicely seasoned with plenty of beef and veggies. My wife was still full from lunch so she had a baked potato and side salad and said they both hit the spot. Driving through town from Reno to Los Angeles. We arrived about two in the afternoon and were immediately seated, and ordered drinks and appetizers (onion rings). The onion rings were to-die-for. Thinly battered and sliced and cooked to perfection. Easily the best I have ever experienced. I ordered the albacore sandwich and the wife had the pasta, Fettuccine Alfredo, I believe. I am a steak person & I want my ribeye thick, preferably bone in, seared medium rare and juicy. The waiter told me that it was not bone in and that was OK . I added a dinner salad with blue cheese. I ordered my steak medium rare with the loaded mashed potatoes. Salad and loaded mashed potatoes are an extra cost. Boy was I disappointed! Salad dressing lacked flavor. It was watered down. And then a thin over cooked steak arrived! Oh my gosh at this point, I'm exhausted after 6 hours of driving, willing to eat this overcooked skinny piece of meat but still looking forward to the loaded mashed potatoes. Silly me as they were dry and lacked flavor. I should've figured when I saw that they had been piped onto the plate. Yes, a pretty presentation but mashed potatoes aren't going to hold up to piping unless they're stiff & dry!!! I could have opted for a loaded baked potato at an extra charge. But that didn't come with bacon or cheese. I could've added that on top of the butter and sour cream for another additional extra charge Now mind you I am not cheap. I am willing to pay money for good food. But at some point I get irked at all the extra fees. Wine list is substandard in my point of view. It's heavy on Temecula wines which I do not like. Nuff said .... Cute town and the next time we pass through I'll find another dining option. Mammoth is another 30 minutes north and there are a couple of good steakhouses there. read more

About one time each year, I get a craving for chicken fried steak. I'm usually disappointed. Too dry, gravy is bad, or the eggs don't come out right. Driving home from June Lake, I stopped at Whisky Creek in Bishop. I haven't been to this location previously, although I did visit the Mammoth location about 40 years ago. Anyway, I digress. The food was delicious. Heads up, if you want a side salad with your meal it is an add on. I had the Filet and it melted on my mouth. My husband had the New York strip steak. Also. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the veggies cooked just the right amount. The drinks were some of the most reasonably priced in the area and they weee delicious. They have bear from our Mountain Rambler brewery on the menu. The service was excellent and our waitress, Kimberly was gracious and kind, as well as patient. It was a very pleasant evening. I haven't been here in a while, and I believe the quality of the food has improved. If you are looking for an elegant restaurant for a special night out, the ambience is excellent.
