5/5 for bishop. Our friend got the whiskey creek style pad Thai. He liked it. My partner got the fettuccine Alfredo. He liked it. I got the filet mignon. 10/10 recommend the steak. Well seasoned. Perfectly cooked. I ordered it raw. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll mostly be back to try their other options. The burger looked so good

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We were pleasantly surprised by this cute restaurant at Bishop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We spent the night in the area on our way to Lake Tahoe and we didn't expect much but that place is a hidden gem! The food was amazing and our waitress was the sweetest lady! Don't forget to try their delicious desserts, especially the panna cotta!

We have only driven through bishop and never stayed there. We are glad we did and found whiskey creek to eat at. The chicken and steak were yummy tasting. The loaded mashed potatoes still make my mouth water. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is huge and has lots of space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was kind yet funny. We will definitely always eat dinner here any time we stay in Bishop.

I have been coming to here since 1979 when the one in Mammoth was still there. Lunch at Bishop was a fantastic experience. The waitstaff were ALL highly professional and attentive. I was quite impressed at the professionalism of the whole crew! The manager was superb! Thank you very much and see you soon.

Stopped in for breakfast. First time in and I was craving Steak and Eggs. I ordered it cooked Medium rare and an additional 2 eggs (over easy). Crispy Hash Browns and sourdough toast. My wife ordered the Avocado toast with fruit. And she said it was delicious! Our server was Trina and she was amazing! Always checking in and making sure we were happy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area was in the bar and it was comfortable and relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It looks like they have an area designated for live music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were just passing through but very happy to find Whiskey Creek. I definitely recommend it! Cheers

Very nice I liked as soon as they asked where we wanted to sit.. they have the bar side separate from dining side. Ribeye streak with garlic mash. Steak came out hot which was a plus for me I love my food hot.. seasoned just right not over and not under very flavorful and tender it's 12oz so we shared it. The garlic mash again was just right over the top with gravy with a dollop of carrot just the right touch. Portion size was just right. Had a side sunshine salad the dressing was sweet with the little tart not to much but they mixed my salad in it. Sad I didn't get bread you can't have steak and salad without bread.. Staff was super nice they said on Thursday nights they have sax player when we were leaving they started getting more people. Don't get dessert would like to try the crème brûlée but was to full. The doors are open even with the construction. We will for sure stop by again when we are passing thru.

How does a Texan go to a steakhouse and not get a steak? When he goes to a restaurant that has two chefs and one cooks tasty Thai food. I had the Whiskey Creek pad Thai with beef (medium heat). My pad Thai was nicely seasoned with plenty of beef and veggies. My wife was still full from lunch so she had a baked potato and side salad and said they both hit the spot. Katie was our server tonight and she did a great job. Next time I might get a steak or probably with try another tempting Thai dish. Y'all check Whiskey Creek out!

This place is fantastic! Stopped here while driving to mammoth and it was worth the stop. Our waiter Saul was awesome he made sure we had all our stuff out quick and made sure to keep our glasses full and was very friendly! The food was super good and not bad prices. The inside of the restaurant was super cozy. This place is bussin! Would recommend!

This place is pretty awesome! We have been up to mammoth every year for 9 years but have never been able to come here. They finally extended their hours to be open earlier on weekend which is amazing. Honestly, the staff was sweet and attentive. The food was fresh and amazingly priced. I highly recommend stopping here for a cocktail and breakfast.

After a full day of outside work, I needed a nice place to cool down and relax. This was a good chance, as there were no crowds at 4:30 and most visitors were still driving in for the rodeo. I saw beets on the menu and immediately ordered my favorite vegetable salad. Next, fish sounded healthy, so I also filled up on this, which was done perfectly. Although not playing yet, there is a bandstand in the rear portion, so this place might rock on a weekend evening!

They did have a dinner rush but still wasn't overwhelmingly busy feeling. The food did take a bit on the longer side but I promise it is worth the wait. We had the ribeye aguachile and quesabirria tacos. The only suggestion I have is the quesabirrias to be made with a different brand of tortillas if it's not their own. They're a bit thicker and once crisped they can have a tug bite on them. Wish the aguachile ribeye had a side of something to justify the price as it doesn't come with rice, beans or anything else. Besides that definitely recommend and will come back.

Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch on our journey home after a quick trip to Disneyland the day prior. It's a long drive, so Bishop is about halfway to home. We don't like traveling with leftovers, so we often share a meal. Yesterday was the Bluey Armstrong burger with a side of the garlic Parmesan fries. The burger was great! Juicy, cooked to perfection, and so flavorful. But the fries? For the love of all that's good those fries sent me on a trip straight to heaven. I wouldn't say I'm a fry snob, but I do know what I like, and these were possibly the best garlic parm fries I've ever had. So much so that I told my hubby I'd recommend going on a 6 hour girls' trip just for the fries. (My gal pals and I do weird trips for stuff like this.) Long story short(ish) stop here for food. You will be saying "get in my belly" with the only regret that it isn't closer to your home. Unless you live in Bisho, in which case you are a lucky person.

The barbecue wasn't noticeably better than what we've had at the chain Dickey's BBQ which is disappointing given the reputation on here and the price we ended up paying. The brisket was pretty dry even during dinner time and had no bark really. Then the loaded baked potato was also a surprise. It came topped with a large amount of diced yellow onions instead of green onions which if you have ever been to Texas and had BBQ out you know it is much more common, so that was weird. Also the shredded cheese was simply slapped on and wasn't even melted making it feel unfinished. The only good thing was their bbq sauce and the mac and cheese. It was creamy and the best thing we ordered. Overall we left very disappointed. We expected a much more memorable experience. given the ratings since we chose to come here over Copper Top.

Unfortunately, ever since the ownership changed, the experience has gone downhill. The customer service is consistently rude and unwelcoming. It feels like staff are irritated just having to take your order. The food is now overpriced for the quality you get, which is a big change from how it used to be. I stopped going for about a year, but recently decided to give it another chance. I called in an order for myself and my disabled grandfather, who only has one arm. I politely asked multiple times if they could please cut the steak for him and even explained why. They clearly seemed annoyed by the request. When I picked up the food, everything looked rushed and just thrown into the boxes--and the steak was not cut. The rest of the meal was just as disappointing. The taquitos were plain with only cheese on top--no sides like guacamole or sour cream, especially disappointing for the price. The loaded potato wasn't even "loaded," just a plain potato. Between the poor service, lack of care, and declining food quality, this place is nothing like it used to be. It's honestly sad to see something that used to feel welcoming and enjoyable turn into somewhere I now dread going. I wouldn't recommend stopping here anymore. There are better places in town that actually value their customers.

I had heard much about…read morethis famous bakery, from its sheepherder sandwiches to the pull apart sweet breads, this bakery certainly did not disappoint. Food: When you first walk in, the impression you get with Schats is "Wow". And wowed you shall be because the whole store is absolutely stacked with breads, cookies, savory loaves, twists, cakes, pastries, and baked goods of all shapes, sizes, and flavorful persuasion. I came in prepared however, determined to try a half order each if their beef and turkey sandwiches, and decided to treat myself to some of the sweet baked goods from their extensive sweets section. While I was disappointed by the amount of meat on my sandwiches, I marveled at the flavor and textural cohesion unified in the simple sandwiches. What looks like a basic veggie-mayo-meat quickly becomes a homey culinary experience with the light and fluffy yet hearty sheepherder bread. Where you might expect an overwhelming mouthful of veg (thanks to the substantial sprouts), I'm met with a cohesive bite of delicate fresh flavors that meld together in a delightful sandwich. Safe to say, this is a sandwich sandwich. Not something stacked between bread, but a thoughtful creation that is greater than the sum of its parts. A true sandwich. The complimentary pickle spears and cookie that comes with your sandwich order is a perfect pairing, and I'd highly recommend these sandwiches if youve never tried them! I also got the Apple fritter, grandma cinnamon roll, old fashioned bar, and the apple strudel thing for my desserts to try (not at once). Each had a lovely texture. I disapprove of donuts that don't retain their moisture and texture, but Schats delivers on both marks especially for their old fashioned and Apple fritter donuts which retain a moist fluffy interior with the right amount of crisp. They are also not too heavy, a high mark in my book. The cinnamon roll was delightful with just the right amount of cinnamon and walnuts, the apple strudel thing was mildly disappointing however as the dough was overly dense and difficult to cut/bite into without squeezing out all the filling. Service: Schats staff are friendly, but this is an in and out institution. With the reputation it has, it's no surprise that things are structured to move quickly as there are a constant stream of customers flowing. Even so, staff are happy to answer questions and chat if they have a moment! They made me feel welcome despite being a clear tourist. Ambiance: Schats has a lovely charm to the interior and exterior. It is reminiscent of what I imagine a rustic German/european bakery would look and feel like, and dining at the outdoor seating or perusing the bakeries stacked displays and carts is a wonderfully charming experience. Highly recommend for a fun and lighthearted break that foodies, families, friends will love. Especially as you travel the 395! Overall 5/5 a perfect experience to add onto your 395 itinerary. Definitely do not miss the baked goodies and bread :)
