The food took awhile but that was due to the line of people ahead of me. The omelette was good, but nothing to brag about. The home fries were the selling point. They were homemade and delicious. I met someone here for breakfast, and at first, I was skeptical. Parking: street and is hard to find. Atmosphere: busy and loud There's no space to wait for pickup or a seat. This place was a buzz with workers calling out orders and moving around to get orders out. Nonstop business, so you know their food must be good. Most of the workers had hair nets on. I don't recommend sitting at the first two tables because people will be standing over top of your table and their back sides right there. Ughhhhhhh! Service: Our server was good. Food: corned beef hash with onions, eggs scrambled soft with cooper sharp cheese!!!! I was so excited when the waitress said they had cooper sharp!!! Most places don't. Lol. The little things I tell ya!!! My eggs were cooked, right. That's a plus also. I also had 1 pancake. Everything was good. Overall, this place was good. We found this place by mistake and if you love good home cooking, you found the right place. Has a bit of a greasy dive look and feel but the food is not greasy. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and helpful and the diner is clean. We don't get to Philadelphia frequently but when we do, we always hit the spot up. read more

The food is mediocre at best. The place is old, somewhat cramped and dark, and it takes forever to get served. Even if it's only one item and no matter whether takeout or stay in, be prepared to wait. Both times I went there, the old guy who I assume is the owner kept announcing a guy's name when my order came up, even though my proper name was clearly printed on his receipt. Both times I decided to get served there, he picks up the order, looks at my name on the receipt and then calls out a guy's name. The second time it happened I got so angry I called him an A-hole and he was extremely upset. I remember thinking, now you know how it feels to be called out of your name! Normally I am very polite, however this time, when I left he was feeling just as angry as I had been. I felt it was justified considering that both times my name had been clearly printed on his receipt. It seems to me that in a gender fluid society, people need to try and make an effort to get it right, so as not to upset or insult other people. In my opinion there are nicer places within walking distance that have much better food. Try Champ's Diner on 16th & Cecil B Moore (be sure to call for days and hours). We went here on a Sunday to get breakfast around noon. There were no seats inside, but that's okay we grabbed takeout. The line was very long, but our food only took 15 minutes after we ordered. This is diner food, so expect diner food! But, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality for everything, particularly my pork sausage was great. My boyfriend does not eat pork, and I was also really happy with the amount of choice they had for breakfast meat that was not pork based! He got turkey and beef bacon and they were both great as well. It was 35$ for all of this food which was great, we both had left overs. While it is a little old looking with some lumps in the booth seating, I got eggs, toast, potatoes and meat for $10. The omelette was cooked pretty well, the toast was buttered and jammed, and the grits were plentiful. Another Temple Breakfast spot, Owl Breakfast is a similar to other small breakfast spots in the campus area. The staff and friendly but the space is very small and not good for groups. The food is good for the price, but could be served hotter; my grits were lukewarm. Again, not good for large groups, and would go early based on its central campus location. read more

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Philly. Pancakes are on They have blueberry pancakes as well. I usually get the hot sausage egg & cheese on rye toast... poppin!! The only down side is they can be a bit pricey and there's no transparency in how they charge you. When you dig into it. You find that when you add items like cheese and blueberries to your meal you're paying outrageous prices for these additions. Example: Ask for blueberries with your pancakes and they will about 8 blueberries and charge you $1.50 extra Each slice of cheese is like 60 cent. And ask for cheese grits and automatically they add two slices. The same thing goes for butter and jelly on toast. Smh. But the food is good and the service is great. The cooks are on point. As chaotic as this place was during a convention weekend the service was phenomenal and the food was amazing!! It was incredibly busy and way too small for the amount of people that clearly love this place. The three of us had fried shrimp with fries, bacon, scrambled eggs, toast. The bacon was the best bacon either one of us have had! incredible all around. very quaint place, but the prices simply cannot be beat. the iced coffee and regular coffee come precreamed and sugared and are a unique flavor that is very sweet but delicious. the warmed blueberry muffins are a MUST. 110% worth stopping in for a cheap and delicious meal to forget being completely obliterated the night before. there are roughly 4 booths in use, so it's somewhat difficult to get a table, but of course you can order takeout. so love so joy read more

Found this jem today. It's self seat, booth or stools, at a counter facing the cook/kitchen. The waitress was friendly and brought large cold waters immediately upon us being seated. Their menu is long but organized which made decision making easy. I ordered the French toast with home fries and a coffee. Home fries came with option peppers and onions. I only ordered onions. My coffee came quickly and was larger and hotter than expected. The food shortly after. My French toast tasted like Christmas. The home fries buttery, crisp, and seasoned with onions. I'm a huge fan! Owl Breakfast & Lunch is a quaint place right on Cecil B. Moore. It's a great spot for Temple students to sit down, eat and catch up with friends or to grab breakfast or lunch right before class. Even if you don't feel like sitting down to eat, they do accept to-go orders which has to be my favorite part. The prices are pretty amazing too, you can get breakfast for less than 10 bucks which is always a + for me. The staff every time I've been there have been nothing but friendly, the only time I experienced any king of attitude was during a rush of people in the diner. Which is understandable. My only negative comments about this place is that I wish it was a little bigger and the decor was a little more extensive. Since its pretty tiny, this place can get easily cramped. But besides that, this place is amazing, I'm so glad I found it. My only wish is that they stayed open later! Tips: I would suggest to call ahead and place an order if you want to do take out. **The chicken and waffles is amazing! You have to try it *** There is an ATM in the back of the resturaunt if you need to pull out cash They do take cards now though).
