I heard about this Taiwanese spot on the west side, Owl Owl Boba x Chick, which has a 4.8 on Google, so I had to check it out. It's a small, cozy place with a fast-food vibe and cute owl decor--seriously, owls everywhere. There are only a few tables, and you order at the counter. I grabbed takeout and got a Citrus Green Tea, Popcorn Chicken, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and Braised Pork Belly with Rice. The Citrus Green Tea was super refreshing--I liked that you could taste the green tea. The beef noodle soup was good, with chewy noodles and tender beef, though the broth was a little sweeter than I expected. For $14.99, I kinda wished there were more noodles. The braised pork belly was tasty, and the Popcorn Chicken was decent for the price--probably would've been better fresh at the restaurant. The cashier was friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, it's a cool little spot with solid food. I'd definitely go back to try more from their menu!

if you're looking for authentic taiwanese food and great tea in the upper west side, this is the spot for you! we were recommended this place by a taiwanese friend and decided to check it out since we were in the area. there's ample parking, and although the shop itself is quite small, it wasn't busy so we found seats easily. it definitely feels more like a boba shop that happens to sell food, but that's nice and casual. the dumplings were great! i loved the spicy marinade, and you could tell the dough was handmade. the soup was delightful- tender beef with perfectly crisp bok choy, and a mild soup base that brought the whole thing together. the food came out super quick and tasted fresh. to me, the tea was the star of the meal (although i am definitely biased because i love a yummy bev), it was not too sweet, and honestly the perfect amount of tart! 10/10 experience here and i am so glad i was recommended it!

There were still about 4 groups still in the restaurant, but was mainly open. I could see this place getting busy during the weekends though, so recommend a res if you're here during peak hours. We started with cold sake and a couple of cocktails. Super cute and yummy drinks, creative and complimented the overall theme. The Asahi beer was huge and came with an ice cold glass, perfect! We got the orange chicken and drunken noodles with added chicken breast. The food was fresh and tasty. I liked that the orange chicken came with rice, and was not overly breaded. The drunken noodles were pretty salty but overall good. These two entrees were enough for two people to take a little bit of leftovers home. Recommend for a nice date night or if looking for some Asian fusion. We'll be back!

The place was buzzing with loud electronic music and tons of people dining -- I think because the ceiling is so high the noise is amplified. Because it was so busy it took a while for the server to come over but he did with waters which was nice but then the menus are all on QR codes -- which is annoying because it is hard to look at everything and because the menu is very confusing it would have been nice to see everything on paper. The menu is confusing because the selections are very odd -- I thought it was a mexican-asian/sushi fusion restaurant -- which I guess it is but it was still really hard to create the best food experience when I couldn't see everything available. My friend was hungry so she immediately put in an order for calamari and I was being called to order the blood orange margarita slushie. When the margarita came it was like nothing I have ever seen before. It looked more like a milkshake or like a creamsicle. I dove in thinking it would be too sweet but it was actually quite delicious and I sucked it back in a second! Also I put in an order for the edamame which sounded really good in the description -- "woodfired" and spicy miso butter -- but when they came they were really spicy and the woodfired element was making me cough, strangely enough -- I couldn't finish them! Finally after waiting forever we got the drinks and apps. It then took another 15 minutes to order our food. Again it was busy and my friend and I were catching up so it wasn't a big deal. We wanted a fairly light dinner so we just ordered one roll -- the Fuego, which had yellowtail and a whitefish, chili, cilantro and cucumber plus a pico de gallo on top -- it was very flavorful -- although a bit spicy for those who are spice wimps like me. Overall, thought it was a good meal but wasn't blown away.

There are eight small tables and one large table in the middle of the room. The place was clean. The bulk of their business was take out. Staff were not especially welcoming yet were efficient. We decided on sweet sour chicken and chicken lo mein. Service was quick and the amount of food was generous. The sweet sour chicken was made very well. The batter was light, airy and not at all greasy. The lo mein was greasy and still tasty. I would have preferred it to be drier. The chef used cabbage as the vegetable. I would have preferred an assortment of veggies, but that's just personal. 3 for the lo mein and 4 for the sweet sour chicken. I would actually give this place 3.5 stars. All staff needed to do is smile once in awhile. Shared parking outside.

Chicken feet of the frozen kink reheated were four stars, house noodles was as well as Mango shaved ice five stars, not Taiwan good but good for phoenix. Wonder when and if the TSMC crowd will give it a go, the Chinese place down on Happy Valley is hopping with them, should this place.

We were seated and it actually took longer than I expected to get a drink order. No diet beverages due to a broken dispenser. I saw that they had a small Indian beer selection, so I ordered an Old Monk which was displayed at the bar and in the menu. "Sorry, we don't have a liquor license". OK. I'll have water which was on the table in covered carafes but was warm since any ice had long ago melted. They have a strange menu of Chinese and Indian food. Not a big selection of either, but it allowed me to select Indian and my wife to choose Chinese. I asked about the portion size of the Chicken 65 and was told it was a starter sized portion. My wife wanted Sweet and Sour but not chicken or shrimp, she wanted tofu. The kitchen agreed to make it but told us up front that they weren't sure how it would be (found that odd). We also ordered Lo Mein since we assumed the Chicken 65 would be smaller. With all these troubles, the food came and it was very good. The Chicken 65 was a very large starter. I thought it was very good with the exception of finding some cartilage chunks in the meat. The sweet-and-sour tofu was also very good. I am not sure why the kitchen did not have confidence in their abilities. Lo mein was just average. When it was time for the check, the waiter wanted to know if we wanted a box for the little bit of lo mein that was left and we said no so he inquired to whether or not we like the dish and offered to take it off the bill or make us something different. We told him that everything was fine. The food was fine and we were just ready to go. All in all, I don't think we would return here due to the lack of selection on the menu. It was kind of limited. The menu was also confusing since it didn't group things together very well.

The cleanliness was disturbing, and the attitude of the blonde Asian employee I dealt with made the experience even worse. She had an extremely snarky, rude, and dismissive tone, and I was shocked when she tried to charge me for tap water. The way she spoke to me was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. What really crossed the line was the bathroom. I personally found ROACHES in there. That is not something I expect to see at any establishment serving customers, and it immediately made me question what other sanitation issues may be going on behind the scenes. I have already filed a report with the health inspector and believe this location needs to be thoroughly investigated. If the conditions I encountered are representative of the establishment, I sincerely hope the authorities take appropriate action and that this place is shut down if it is found to be operating in unsafe or unsanitary conditions. Customers deserve a clean and safe environment, not roaches, questionable cleanliness, and employees with an attitude. I personally will never be coming back, and based on my experience, I would strongly caution others about coming here.
