Had an amazing karaoke night at Tofu King Phoenix. The food was fantastic, loved the Taiwanese dishes like oyster omelet, stinky tofu, and more. Karaoke was on point with songs in all kinds of languages and styles, from different eras to even kids' songs. Don't think it's just Chinese songs, the selection is huge! Prices were reasonable, the decorations were fun, and the staff was super friendly. Totally reminded me of Taiwan.

This is a new restaurant serving delicious Taiwanese food. If you like stinky tofu, this is definitely the place to visit! All my Taiwanese friends agree that their stinky tofu tastes really authentic and flavorful. Service was good. Since it's a newer restaurant, they don't have everything set up yet--it's still missing some nice decorations, and it would be great if they had windows to brighten up the space. But overall, the food is excellent, and I'm excited to see how this place grows!

Yay for more Taiwanese food! If you're looking for something different than the usual Chinese foods you can find it here...especially stinky tofu- which I forgot to take a picture. Their Taiwanese root beer is different tasting compared to USA root beer. Taiwanese root beer tastes like medicine to me so try at your own risk lol! But it's a Taiwanese local favorite. Their apple juice soda was out so didn't get the try. Popcorn chicken was a slight crispy bite with chicken leg dark meat and always love the fried basil. The beef tendon noodle soup has a different Taiwanese taste. Tendon wasn't as soft as I would like it to be. Noodles are okay too. Taiwanese hot dog is made with intestines with sticky rice and Chinese sausage which is an interesting take for "hot dog." I loved the glutinous rice mound with the pork meatball inside and the sauce. Very reminiscent of Taiwan for some reason. Stinky tofu is an acquired taste and smell for anyone not familiar. Service was fast. They close at 2:30 don lunch and open back up at 5pm for dinner with a different menu. And I believe they also have 2 large sized karaoke rooms that you can rent out for each for around $400 for all you can drink including alcohol and for the whole day/ time you're there. I think it includes some foods too. They also have a karaoke microphone where you can sing in front of the crowd that's eating! Pretty cool! I didn't sing so maybe another time lol! Oh and there is no sign yet. Right now you can see the sign "Chinese restaurant." For a standalone restaurant.

I was very excited to try this place, since it's rare to find a Taiwanese restaurant here. The service was great--very friendly and truly Taiwanese. However, the food was just okay and a bit pricey in my opinion. The flavors were fairly close to authentic Taiwanese cuisine, but overall it felt average and not particularly special. I left feeling a little disappointed.

One of the worst dining experiences I've had. We came for dinner around 7 PM after a long trip from Page and were probably the last table of the night. We were really craving a good rice meal and hoped this newly opened restaurant would satisfy us. Unfortunately, it did not. The rice was barely warm and tasted like it had been sitting at room temperature for a while. When I politely asked if we could have warm rice (even offering for them to microwave it), the chef/owner came out to explain that reheating would make it dry. I suggested covering it with a lid, but nothing was done. We also asked for hot water and were told they didn't have any which was confusing for a restaurant that serves soup. We ordered several dishes, and none impressed us. The drunken chicken was bland, the salted fried chicken was dry, the basil lacked flavor, and the beef was overly dressed. They even used broccoli stems in the oyster omelet. To make things worse, someone was mopping the floor while we were still eating. As someone familiar with Taiwanese culture, I was especially disappointed. Taiwanese hospitality is usually very warm and welcoming, but we didn't feel that here at all. Overall, the food, environment, and service were all poor. This was a very unpleasant experience. You are one of the few Taiwanese restaurants in the area, so I hope you take this seriously and make an effort to improve especially for customers who expect quality and care.

Taiwan Hot Dog & very BLAND Thick Squid Soup with Vermicelli

Menu is limited, can't understand why all foods on the menu are not available all day. Super disappointing to be so limited. Went for lunch, all the portions were small except the Thick Squid Soup with Vermicelli which had absolutely no flavor. Understandable vermicelli is cheap so there was a big bowl of it but it was so disappointing it tasted like nothing. The changhua ba wan's sauce was delicious and the texture was impressive yet the inside meatball was extremely tiny. Best stinky tofu in the valley so far, not great but it is the best one I've had here. The broth from the beef tendon noodle soup was delicious!! Great broth, not much noodles and not much tendon but the tendon was very soft & tender. Best dish out of the 7 items ordered. Pork chop was bland & not crispy. I think they need to meet the vendors of Herculean Chicken and use their batter concoction! Only 1 person works there, not very friendly or accommodating. Saw her struggle with non Mandarin speaking customer. Will be difficult for those who don't speak Mandarin.

Newest Taiwanese restaurant in town, but it's already mostly definitely the best in town as well. Food tasted absolutely amazing, raised the standards for their competitors for sure. Service was a bit slow, cuz the owners just started running it, so it'll take some time for them to settle and sort out this situation. Can tell interior decoration is in progress, but looking forward to seeing the end product. Food is worth every penny I spent. I will definitely be heading back in the near future!

It was the perfect place to kick off our gay bar bar-hop since it was much more low-key compared to the other spots. The music was so good, the bartender was nice, and the dancer was AMAZINGGGG. Only the few people who came in as customers during karaoke were amazing and wonderful. The STAFF HERE IS JUDGMENTAL AS FUCK. I just lost a ton of weight over the last year and am very tall, I came in here super cute with my followers. I was trying to have fun while being RESPECTFUL TOWARDS THOSE AROUND ME. I did NOT receive the same treatment at all. They couldn't take ANY of my cards like chime debit or PayPal, also don't have any electronic type pay at all. FYI Kindness is free maybe don't BE the HATE WE ALL see in the world. WE ARE A RAINBOW COMMUNITY FOR A REASON. All I was trying to do was find a SAFE PLACE to chill and you FUCKED THAT UP WITH YOUR JUDGEMENT (and eye rolls). That's on you, especially when I tried to have conversations and treat you with love and kindness but all I got was NEGATIVITY. That doesn't EVER create a conducive environment for LGBTQ+ humans. So CHANGE. BECOME BETTER. Our community deserves it.

Once we got inside, the crowd was here for all the fun and dance of it. My friends and I grabbed a drink and stomped right onto the dance floor with everybody else. I'm not quite sure how to explain the vibe, but it was just 'on one'. Next thing I know we're jumping up and down with the DJ and sweating our assess off. Everybody was so friendly, the bartenders were ready everytime we crawled over, and the music was non stop amazing. I wish I could come here on a regular basis but my poor knees just wouldn't be able to survive the brutality of it all. I can't remember the last time I've been somewhere and the entire crew did not want to leave. Everytime we tried to skip out, the DJ would play an old/new mashup that forced my little dancin' feet right back inside. Do yourself a favor and get yourself on top of this experience. You'll thank me. I promise!

They also have some really interesting vendors set up shop outside sometimes: food, art, toys and collectibles. Despite the retro look the soundsystem is super high tech and there is a massive LED screen behind the dj with some folks doing live visuals. Cocktails are great and cost as much as anywhere else, though the beer selection could use a little work. Security and staff aren't dicks, which is always nice. Looking forward to the cooler months when I'm sure they'll have djs/art/entertainment outside on the patio.

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. If the service were better, Killer Whale Sex Club would easily be a five-star experience.

The atmosphere was unique, the bartenders were genuinely engaging, and there was a real sense of community that made every visit memorable. It became my go-to spot to bring friends from out of town and every single person I brought absolutely loved it! Back then, the cocktails felt intentional and creative, not just rushed out for volume. The staff remembered regulars, conversations flowed naturally, and the whole place had this warm, eclectic energy that made you want to stay for hours. Even on busy nights, it somehow still felt personal. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, the vibe has changed quite a bit. The drinks just aren't as consistently good as they used to be, especially considering the prices now. Service feels far more transactional and impersonal, and the atmosphere that once made this place stand out has faded into something much more generic. It feels less like a neighborhood gem and more like a stop on a nightlife circuit.
