A quaint little store with friendly service, nice selection of gifts, cold drinks, and of course, an amazing burger! We all had the 7 napkin burger. The burger meat itself was a great flavor, with the toppings of tomato, pickle, lettuce, ketchup, mustard and onion (they grilled the onion upon our request, which added to the flavor we all enjoy). Definitely needs 7 napkins! We enjoyed our take out burgers at the picnic tables available outside. We got a couple fudges for dessert later and it was good, basic fudge. During our short stay at Owls Head we stopped by the general store five times or more! We absolutely adored it, and the food was delicious. This is the cutest, most welcoming store you could ask for. We stopped for lunch before visiting the Owl's Head Lighthouse State Park. My bff and i split a BLT. Nice toasty homemade bread that didn't get soggy or rip. Good quality bacon, meaty, just a tad crunchy and nice and salty. My hubby had the 7 napkin burger and said it was tasty. The store is adorable , with some souvenirs and local items. They also have a great selection of handcrafted sodas made in Maine. The root beer was delicious. The outdoor seating has several picnic tables, some in the sun and some in the shade. The owners are the charm of the General Store as they have created something that was from a time past. The sandwiches, pizza and home made fudge are always spot on and if you are lucky enough to get a grilled blueberry muffin in the morning then it will be a good day. What a great find this place was. There did not seem to be too many open options on the day were were in Rockland so we tried Th Owls Head General Store . They have at least one if everything you might need , food , gifts, take out , wine, beer, books household items ... the list goes on and on . We tried the gingerbread fudge from a large selection o fudge . The gingerbread was amazing and went home with some toffee fudge which was good but the gingerbread fudge was excellent . Tried a chicken salad sandwich/ they even had gluten free rolls. Chicken salad was very good . The people who worked there were welcoming and efficient. I am still amazed how well stocked and beautifully the merchandise was they have made excellent use of a small space . I will definitely stop in next time I am near by. read more

If you're in Camden, Rockport or Rockland you have to go. A small general store & take out spot on the way to Owls Head Light House. A local recommended this place and it was amazing & the burger was voted the "Best in Maine." What we ordered: Burger / Medium / No modifications Coffee Fudge It took a while to make, but good things take time right? The burger is huge, flavorful and the toppings/sauces were the perfect amount. Outside the store to the right they have picnic tables or if you want to really take it to go, Owls Head Light is only a few minutes drive up the road. We also had the coffee fudge which we split later that night, a great price compared to tourist trap spots in the harbor towns. read more

Our family attempts to come to Maine every year if possible. All year long between visits, Owl's Head General Store is all we talk about. The burgers are fresh, the owner is friendly, the experience is always a homemade quality. I love the bountiful menu, drinks, and take home options. Terrible experience. We stopped by for lunch after seeing the lighthouse. After ordering what we didn't want since they was out of ham we was told it would be around 25 minutes, not too bad. It did seem a little long since it's lunch meat but ok. After 30 minutes my wife asked when it would be done and they said shortly. After 45 minutes and people who ordered burgers after us and ate was leaving we complained and got our food. We was way behind schedule so I threw it in the garbage. My wife took two bites and said it wasn't good and threw hers away. Don't go unless you want to pay $30 for a couple sandwiches and have a lot of time to spend. read more

Boy is this place popular -- and it's easy to see why. While crowded when we went and without much available seating, we soldiered on and ordered "Maine's Best Burger (so says Food Network). I'm here to say right now I don't think Food Network tried all the burgers in Maine -- it's not the best burger there. It was good, don't get me wrong, but for me there wasn't anything mind-blowing about it that would make me stand up and shout, "Yes! BEST! BEST! BEST!" Well, ya know. Everyone was super friendly and it was delightful to have that little general store feel, kinda of a piece of lost Americana in a way. We found a place to sit and enjoyed our burgers. They don't know what they are offering on their own menu and they don't listen well to the orders given (side note chicken shouldn't be chewy in sandwiches of any kind). The plus side to this experience was that they did not skimp on the quantity, just disappointed that when I found someplace, they did not deliver as they wrote on the menus given. read more
