Weird experience, but the food is excellent. The Owl's Nest a Texas pit style bbq restaurant with an elevated setting... ran by Russians lol The meats were great, the sides were lacking, the Russian Honey Cake was 10/10 and a must have. Service was great and I'll be back!

Fantastic lunch today. Found this place on yelp since we weren't familiar with the area. The shishito pepper appetizer was delicious. My son got the brisket and mashed potatoes. The servers were attentive. Nice find and recommend giving it a shot.

Other Yelpers led us here and Owl's Nest did not disappoint! With exceptional service and knowledge of the menu, we tried a couple recommendations we received and enjoyed our view overlooking the Frosty Valley Golf Links' driving range and putting green. The interior was welcoming with a casual ambience. I ordered the Watermelon Witch (aka the Watermelon Mint Lemonade with rum),

Food was phenomenal! Both entrees were cooked to perfection. We had the filet and the lamb chops. The honey cake we had for dessert was very unique-very light and fresh. All housemaid. Our cocktails were average but all very unique. Our waitress was very patient and helpful with any questions we had. The ambiance was a little lackluster but we did not judge the book by its cover and we were pleasantly surprised!!

I would probably go 4.5 stars if that was an option. The food was generally very good. Most of the menu items are very pricey. Started with the watermelon mint lemonade, which was quite refreshing. Didn't expect it to be carbonated, but really liked it. Had charred broccoli and grilled watermelon as starters. Both were very good. I saw the Smoky Spell Burger come out, and it looked amazing, but we went with the brisket and the shrimp risotto. I loved the latter. The brisket was on the leaner side, so a bit drier and way less fatty than you might typically see, but the barbecue sauce was delicious. I also tasted the smoked duck breast. It was less oily than expected and actually had a bit of a pork texture. Solid.

Owls Nest at Frosty Valley Golf Links - upscale BBQ with a serious twist and even better views. From smoked brisket to handcrafted cocktails, this South Hills standout is redefining Texas-style BBQ with a fine dining touch. We kicked off with the charred shishito peppers--served with house-made sriracha--and let's just say, do not skip. For dinner, we tried the Tailor Made Platter, which lets you build your own BBQ board. We picked brisket, honey pork belly, pulled pork, and chicken breast--plus sides of mac n' cheese, mashed potatoes, and roasted veggies (those grilled vegetables were next-level). Topped it off with Grisha's BBQ sauce--sweet, smoky, and ridiculously good. And the cocktails? Flavor-forward and beautifully crafted. The Smokey Manhattan was a standout. Bonus: I was celebrating my birthday, and they surprised me with a slice of homemade honey cake (complete with candle + a birthday song in Russian). Truly such a thoughtful touch. If you haven't been to Owls Nest yet--make this your next dinner destination. South Hills, this one's a keeper.

I have been here several times before. But tonight was terrible! Arrived at 8:00. Told them my husband was on the last hole of golf (literally golf course is on site). At 8:10 was told the chef was closing the kitchen in 25 minutes and he gets very strict about it. We quickly ordered (and I ordered just a small salad to make it quick). As we were getting our food, a party of 8 sat down and started ordering. That was after the time we were told the kitchen was closing. So, we thought the pressure to finish quickly was over as this large party was there and ordering. But NO! The wait person came over and asked to take an empty glass and then said - when I come back can I bring your check. Never asked if we wanted another drink or dessert or anything else. Then - as we were leaving another 2 people came in and joined the other group. I finally asked if they were family or something. They said no, just customers. Like what????

What a treat to discover the Owl's Nest. Eight of us came on a Wednesday night and shared a few appetizers to start. The burrata was beautifully plated and perfect on its own with just a fork, no bread needed. But let me go back a second to the cocktail I ordered. The Green genie was light and refreshing. Maybe not your typical December drink but I was intrigued by the pineapple basil infused lemonade. Not a sweet drink kinda girl, I will say this was perfectly balanced and definitely not too sweet. That hint of basil came through in every sip! Definitely recommend. The brisket with mashed potatoes, and vegetables was plated so uniquely- truly a pleasure to behold for the senses. Now for the taste... tender and lightly smoked. The BBQ sauce is a delicious compliment and not overpowering. I decided that it was impossible to choose desserts so I ordered both the honey cake AND the hidden gem. People!! Save room for dessert! The hidden gem is a fun dessert and the pistachio filling is creamy and light. The honey cake is gorgeous, light and the layers are just perfectly even. I would liken it to a crepe cake. My kids will be happy I'm bringing them home a taste of it! The attention to detail, the cocktails, music and the flavor of the food at the Owl's Nest is definitely worth seeking out for lunch or dinner.

Fantastic addition to the area. Star5ed w the charred be I colli which was delicious. I never thought I would like beocolli for an appetizer, but it works! Then had the burger and it was so flavorful, cooked perfectly, and beautifully served. Very upscale menu, great setting outside under the canopy on a spring evening. Great way to spend the evening.

Another ordered chicken fingers. I love their black bean cakes, so had them on top of my salad, which was also delicious. Prices are, in my opinion, moderate. With the exception of the chicken fingers, the food is considerably elevated bar food. Great food, great atmosphere, and warm and friendly service. Definitely on repeat.

I have cut back on my beer drinking, so it has been a while since I was here last. The impetus for today's visit was to try out the "On the Hook" Fish & Chips Food Truck. I had heard that "Steve & Benny's," the restaurant that shares the same space as the brewery, recently closed. In the interim, Recon has been hosting a variety of food trucks until they find someone to re-open the kitchen. I enjoyed an "Ease his Pain" NE IPA along with my fish and chips. The beer was very good (the fish and chips was just O.K.). Cheers!

They replied the next day with their condolences and confirmed that they would accommodate my request. We ended up needing to arrive early because the ceremony ended earlier than expected and everyone in our dining party loved about an hour away. So, we called to ask if that would be possible and they kindly agreed to seat us early/have our table ready. Upon arriving, the service was great; with our waitress providing prompt service and continuously checking-in on us (taking our order and refilling drinks). While we waited for our meals they provided us with complimentary homemade chips and dip. That was so nice, and we all enjoyed them! Our food was served about 30 minutes after ordering (which is pretty good given that it was for 8 people), and everything was as ordered. I enjoyed my meal (I had the chicken sandwich) as did everyone seated near me. I'd definitely recommend eating here as they definitely seem like genuinely nice people trying to provide a great experience for their patrons! (I didn't try any of the beers because I had an hour long drive ahead of me after a long day, but the food alone is worth stopping in for)

In terms of the food, I switched up a few things and tried some different items this time. The tod mun was interesting and worth a try.
