This place was great! I made a reservation online for a Friday afternoon by making a "event request" since I was arranging for a group of 8 people who were attending a burial ceremony nearby. They replied the next day with their condolences and confirmed that they would accommodate my request. We ended up needing to arrive early because the ceremony ended earlier than expected and everyone in our dining party loved about an hour away. So, we called to ask if that would be possible and they kindly agreed to seat us early/have our table ready. Upon arriving, the service was great; with our waitress providing prompt service and continuously checking-in on us (taking our order and refilling drinks). While we waited for our meals they provided us with complimentary homemade chips and dip. That was so nice, and we all enjoyed them! Our food was served about 30 minutes after ordering (which is pretty good given that it was for 8 people), and everything was as ordered. I enjoyed my meal (I had the chicken sandwich) as did everyone seated near me. I'd definitely recommend eating here as they definitely seem like genuinely nice people trying to provide a great experience for their patrons! Great brewery with a fun Jeep theme! They have a nice variety of 10 beers on tap, something for everyone's taste. Our server was great to allow us to sample multiple beers as well to determine which we'd like to order. I got the Trail Rated Sour Series - Plum and really enjoyed it! It is a light fruited sour ale without overly sugary or heavy flavor. Very refreshing with a tart plum aftertaste. For food they have options made by Steve and Benny's Chicken Shack. Given the name, I had to try the Signature Chicken Sandwich. It was delicious! Crispy outside and juicy inside fried chicken, with a fantastic level of seasoning. Two thick chicken pieces stacked on a bun with your choice of sauce and toppings. I got hot honey sauce, which had a perfect balance of spice and sweet. As toppings I got tomato, jalapeños, and onion which are all chopped up almost like pico. Excellent flavor, filling, and home-made taste! I just wish I had more sauce to spread on my sandwich. This place hasn't been open too long and it's difficult to find a food menu online, so I scanned the menu QR code and attached pictures of screenshots. The owners partner with "Steve and Benny's" to provide the food. We were informed by our server Nikki, that Steve and Benny's started as a food truck, has grown to include two brick and mortars and their specialty is fried chicken. So, we each went with the "The Steve" and split an order of fries. The Steve is a sandwich which includes TWO nice sized pieces of fried chicken breast (to my pleasant surprise), pickles and choice of sauce (we both chose buffalo). HIGHLY recommend. The chicken was fried perfectly. It was moist and not greasy at all. The buffalo sauce was delicious -- A lot of flavor and the right amount of heat. You can also get the chicken tossed in Buffalo sauce for $1 more but we got it on the side. The kitchen split the fries for us (nice touch) but they were a little bit over cooked (don't know if this is a one off). Our server Nikki was the best. Very attentive and customer focused. They have outdoor seating and are dog friendly. They have a dog menu and offer a 10% discount if you bring your dog during "Yappy Hour" on Thursdays from 5-7pm on the patio. I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't comment on that. But my husband is and he enjoyed the two different ones that he got. This place has a great vibe and is a nice hang. The service was decent. The vibe was good & the selection was pretty good. Portion sizes are a bit small. Though my wrap was good, the shrimp were not blackened. I've had blackened food all over the country and use blackened seasoning at home often. The seasoning they had was okay, but it was not blackened. I asked for extra seasoning, since it wasn't blackened really. They explained that it's a dry rub. I told her I use it all the time and know what it is. She brought me a weird tan seasoning that didn't taste anything like blackened seasoning. That explains why it didn't taste blackened. A good wrap, but definitely not blackened. Great beer bar and restaurant in the middle of suburbia. They serve their own beer and have a second brand providing food. No burgers but otherwise you'll find your typical bar food menu. They have some excellent chicken sandwiches and with plenty of sauce choices. The service is great as well. Just ok! Came in on a Sunday around 230. There was one bartender and one cook. The bartender was friendly and served us immediately. She also let us know it was going to be at least a 45 min wait for food because the cook was new, back there by himself, and there was a large party ahead of us. We decided to wait it out and when our food came, we weren't super impressed. The chicken was definitely fresh chicken breast. The breading was thin, but super crispy. The problem was that it had no flavor at all. I had to drown it in my buffalo sauce (I had the Steve). My friend had the duster. She said hers was lacking flavor too. The fries were great. 10/10. Super crispy. We only ordered one side and it was more than plenty for two people to share. We had a lot leftover. The bartender took my friend's order for a second cocktail and never brought it over. When the bill came and the drink was listed on there, the bartender immediately took it off and apologized. The space itself is super cute. It's bright, but on the smaller side. A decent amount of seating inside and outside with some string lights and a homey feel. We love how family-friendly it is, and they're French fries are so good! Their tap list is pretty heavy on the IPAs (at least when we were there), and they also had a great sour. If beer isn't you're thing, they have a limited cocktail menu and Narcisi wine, too. read more

First time here. I like the location, especially if you live in the neighborhood, how cool is it to have a brewery. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. We ordered 4 different beers to try. They were all good beers. Only set back is that I wished they had a west coast or hazy IPA or even lager on draft at the time. Maybe next time and since we live 20 mins away, we will have many next time opportunities. They have food from maybe a different place. However we both had the poboy, wife did chicken and I went all out with the fried shrimp. It was tasty, had a good sauce on it. Place is relaxing inside. Plenty of places to sit and at the bar. Also outside dining, only if it's not raining else like it was raining that day we went, no coverage in the rain. The place is easy to find. However due to the crazy construction in the area, you want to to avoid the way from Lawrence onto mayview. Just GOS it via Google to avoid adding an extra 20 mins like I did. read more

The serving of mayo on this was enough for 5 sandwiches. It is a nice restaurant and we have came here a lot, this is the first really bad experience, but it has progressively gotten worse. Loved coming to Recon!! Not only is this pretty close to us, but the vibes are so relaxing and inviting! Multiple staff members were helpful and so accommodating throughout our evening, they truly made it a really nice night out. Also, it's a dog friendly brewery so how can you not love that too! The inside and outside are really cute, there multiple TVs to watch sporting events if you'd like and outside there are fire pits when it gets cooler. There was even a band playing across the street in the yard where kids and dogs were playing. The beer was delicious, I loved the blueberry beer! I have also never eaten a po boy before and we ordered the shrimp and chicken po boy. Servings were huge so be prepared to take some home. The sauce was so good that was my favorite part. The pretzel bites app was okay, I thought the beer cheese could improve but other than that we can't wait to return!! read more

This is the third and newest location of Recon Brewing (the original is in Butler, and the second location is @Meeder (Cranberry Area)). This location @Hastings has been open for about a month now. I stopped in for lunch today, and had a beer ("Immaculate" Hazy NE IPA) and a Poutine. It's a very chill spot, and I enjoyed the ambience, the music, and the employees, who were all very nice. The food is provided by Steve and Benny's Chicken Shack, which has a kitchen on site here. You order both the beer and food all on the same tab. The menu is available by scanning a code with your phone (or you can check it out online before you come in). I noticed today that they have a special Lent menu with fish available on Fridays. I hope to come back again before Lent is over and try one of those fish platters! I thought the beer was pretty tasty, and the poutine was good too. The food portion was really big, and I wasn't able to eat it all, so I think it would be great for sharing. Overall, I liked this place, and I look forward to coming back again sometime soon . . . Hubby and I visited for the first time to have dinner on a Friday night. Nice atmosphere inside and out, with several fire pits at the outside seating. Chilly night so we sat inside. Service was excellent- no less than 3 service staff offered to take our drink and food orders and check on us periodically and all were super friendly. Food was scrumptious as well. The portions looked deceptively small when they arrived because they were more than filling. My husband couldn't stop raving about his shrimp wrap and my Mac bowl with pulled pork was the best I've had at a local restaurant. See picture. It was creamy, not over cooked, and big portion of tender pork. I'm not a big beer drinker but liked what I had, as did hubby. Not a huge beer selection but what they had was good, per hubby. What they do well, they do great. What they don't, isn't good. Service was wonderful. Space is really nice. We started with the pretzel bites with what was purported to be beer cheese. Sadly, it wasn't beer cheese- just orange processed cheese you'd get at a sporting event. Not many bites, either. Even more sadly, the Mac and cheese (a major section of the menu) uses the same orange cheese, which was so surprising (photos in the website of the Mac and cheese appear very different than what we received). I had the pulled pork Mac and cheese- due to a shellfish allergy I had very very few options (all proteins are fried in the same fryer). The pulled pork was tender, the bbq sauce good, but the Mac and cheese was just so disappointing. My two family members that had chicken raved about it, and the fries (fries and churros cooked in a separate fryer) were great- crispy on the outside soft on the inside. Husband liked his beer. If you want some beers and fried chicken- a great choice. But I would caution venturing into anything else. read more

As bad as bad could be. Plain and simple, mostly because of the service. We stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday with our kids, age 3 years and eight months old. The server came by our table 6 to 8 times and each time said she would come back and take our orders the next time. It wasn't crowded at all. There was only one or two other tables at the time. When we finally did order, Server gave me a hard time when I asked her why the cider came in a much smaller glass than the beer. After I told her I wanted to send it back and get another beer, she still charged me for that cider that I didn't want. Then, our three year-old had a terrible fall out of his chair and hit his head on the ground. The server was right there when it happened and never came back to our table to take our payment, but left us with a screaming Toddler. We were ignored for about 10 minutes. It was quite possibly the worst service I think I've ever had in my entire life. Definitely will not be going back. The food is OK. read more

This is a very nicely decorated, smallish bar tucked into a newish neighborhood in South Fayette. The decorations are Jeep Wrangler photos, parts, etc. Really cute, I liked it a lot. They have a nice patio, where people can bring their dogs. They have several beers on tap, I had the wheat, which was very good. They have quite a few IPAs which aren't my thing, but they sounded interesting. I'd like to try some of their cocktails. They also make some special cocktails when the neighborhood has movie nights, they match the cocktail to the movie theme, which is fun! The food menu is good looking, however, they were out of cauliflower and steak. This isn't terrible, but I really wanted to try the two cauliflower appetizers. I got the pretzel bites, they were tasty, the mustard was good, didn't care for the cheese that much, just seemed like canned cheese. I'd try again, hopefully they can get the full stock of the food. My family and I love going to Recon for dinner/happy hour. They have the cutest patio (and indoor seating, too) and it's so fun to people/puppy watch. We never feel like we're being rushed to make space for another party either. They have so many food and drink choices, and I love that cocktails change seasonally. I am a huge fan of the cauliflower appetizer and the cauliflower po boy, but I was THRILLED this last visit to discover they ended plant-based chicken to their menu to sub for the sandwiches. It was a big game changer and I hope they keep it! (My non-plant based family loves all of their chicken sandwiches and other menu items, too!) read more

Disappointing. Expected at least one wheat style beer on tap but no luck. H liked his ipa beer. Had iced tea that had an odd taste. Had salad with crab cake. Salad tasted like a bag mix with matchbox carrotts, diced tom, cucum. And huge red onion chunks. Nothing special. Italian tasted like wishbone and was gloppy and gelatinous balsamic was not any better. Crab cake was tiny and barely warm inside. Husb. fried chicken sand was good but nashville hot sauce was brought out cold (it is a spice paste that defintely would have been better if heated and poured on top. Waitress was friendly. So easy to make a great salad with house made dressing. Was pretty dead there compared to place down road...maybe better food would help. read more
