    Buffalo chicken Mac & cheese
    Kat V.

The service was decent. The vibe was good & the selection was pretty good. Portion sizes are a bit small. Though my wrap was good, the shrimp were not blackened. I've had blackened food all over the country and use blackened seasoning at home often. The seasoning they had was okay, but it was not blackened. I asked for extra seasoning, since it wasn't blackened really. They explained that it's a dry rub. I told her I use it all the time and know what it is. She brought me a weird tan seasoning that didn't taste anything like blackened seasoning. That explains why it didn't taste blackened. A good wrap, but definitely not blackened. I'd go back and look forward to trying the Mac & cheese sometime. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks.

Loving the new peach hot honey margarita. If I lived in the housing development nearby I would probably drinking this every night! I want to explore new things on the menu, but I think I'm married to the Hastings wrap, you can't beat a 10/10! We were hosted by a very nice and attentive server, I think his name was Mitch. I love sitting outside here as the patio is always peaceful!

Great beer bar and restaurant in the middle of suburbia. They serve their own beer and have a second brand providing food. No burgers but otherwise you'll find your typical bar food menu. They have some excellent chicken sandwiches and with plenty of sauce choices. The service is great as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating available and they seem to catch extra sunset despite being lower than the ridge.

Just ok! Came in on a Sunday around 230. There was one bartender and one cook. The bartender was friendly and served us immediately. She also let us know it was going to be at least a 45 min wait for food because the cook was new, back there by himself, and there was a large party ahead of us. We decided to wait it out and when our food came, we weren't super impressed. The chicken was definitely fresh chicken breast. The breading was thin, but super crispy. The problem was that it had no flavor at all. I had to drown it in my buffalo sauce (I had the Steve). My friend had the duster. She said hers was lacking flavor too. The fries were great. 10/10. Super crispy. We only ordered one side and it was more than plenty for two people to share. We had a lot leftover. The bartender took my friend's order for a second cocktail and never brought it over. When the bill came and the drink was listed on there, the bartender immediately took it off and apologized. The space itself is super cute. It's bright, but on the smaller side. A decent amount of seating inside and outside with some string lights and a homey feel. I think it was just average, unfortunately!

Very good food and drinks! Scannable menus, clean dining room and bathrooms. Plenty outdoor seating as well! Trivia night on Wednesday, you have to be there before 7PM to participate, seems like a blast!

Great place to go with your fur baby. Excellent for outdoor eating. Casual and laid back. Would recommend getting a flight.

First time here. I like the location, especially if you live in the neighborhood, how cool is it to have a brewery. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. We ordered 4 different beers to try. They were all good beers. Only set back is that I wished they had a west coast or hazy IPA or even lager on draft at the time. Maybe next time and since we live 20 mins away, we will have many next time opportunities. They have food from maybe a different place. However we both had the poboy, wife did chicken and I went all out with the fried shrimp. It was tasty, had a good sauce on it. Place is relaxing inside. Plenty of places to sit and at the bar. Also outside dining, only if it's not raining else like it was raining that day we went, no coverage in the rain. The place is easy to find. However due to the crazy construction in the area, you want to to avoid the way from Lawrence onto mayview. Just GOS it via Google to avoid adding an extra 20 mins like I did.

Service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress was late bringing food, taking orders, and said she was too busy to get more drinks. Food was awful and basically inedible. The serving of mayo on this was enough for 5 sandwiches. It is a nice restaurant and we have came here a lot, this is the first really bad experience, but it has progressively gotten worse. We asked for our tab and it has been 20 minutes since she came back outside. I will not be returning.

Loved coming to Recon!! Not only is this pretty close to us, but the vibes are so relaxing and inviting! Multiple staff members were helpful and so accommodating throughout our evening, they truly made it a really nice night out. Also, it's a dog friendly brewery so how can you not love that too! The inside and outside are really cute, there multiple TVs to watch sporting events if you'd like and outside there are fire pits when it gets cooler. There was even a band playing across the street in the yard where kids and dogs were playing. The beer was delicious, I loved the blueberry beer! I have also never eaten a po boy before and we ordered the shrimp and chicken po boy. Servings were huge so be prepared to take some home. The sauce was so good that was my favorite part. The pretzel bites app was okay, I thought the beer cheese could improve but other than that we can't wait to return!!

This is the third and newest location of Recon Brewing (the original is in Butler, and the second location is @Meeder (Cranberry Area)). This location @Hastings has been open for about a month now. I stopped in for lunch today, and had a beer ("Immaculate" Hazy NE IPA) and a Poutine. It's a very chill spot, and I enjoyed the ambience, the music, and the employees, who were all very nice. The food is provided by Steve and Benny's Chicken Shack, which has a kitchen on site here. You order both the beer and food all on the same tab. The menu is available by scanning a code with your phone (or you can check it out online before you come in). I noticed today that they have a special Lent menu with fish available on Fridays. I hope to come back again before Lent is over and try one of those fish platters! I thought the beer was pretty tasty, and the poutine was good too. The food portion was really big, and I wasn't able to eat it all, so I think it would be great for sharing. Overall, I liked this place, and I look forward to coming back again sometime soon . . . Cheers!

First time customer. Great customer service. All servers/bartenders were all very attentive. Food menu is small but honestly there is a little bit of everything. The salads were big and filling. And the beer was great too!

Had my first visit here on a Friday evening this past August. We met a few of our friends here to…read moreenjoy a night out with some beer, food, and live music. I have previously heard of Truss and seen them around the community at different events, but was excited to finally try them at their storefront. Truss Brewing Company is located in Pleasant Hills, just off of Route 51. This building has been other businesses throughout the years before Truss took over. It is clearly marked and easy to locate. There is a private parking lot in the rear, but they will have it closed off and filled with tables during the summer months. However, there are other lots and parking options surrounding the building along Old Clairton if this is the case when you visit. We arrived just after 7:00, and the place was packed! They had the back parking lot closed off for seating, but luckily we found a spot right in front. There is no indoor seating here, as they advertise the business to be take-out only. Therefore, you can order online or through some delivery services if you truly are taking the order to-go. However, if you are "dining in," you can order at the counter inside. They will give you an order number, and then call the order number outside for you to come retrieve. First, we made our way inside to place an order. There was a decent line that went out the door, but we made it through that in about 10 minutes. Ordering was straight-forward, as the menu is not terribly long. For the beers, there were some different size options. Also, they sold reusable cans, crowlers, growlers, and mini kegs that can be brought back and refilled. In addition to the made-to-order food and beer, there are some snacks, grocery items, non-alcoholic drinks, and merchandise all for sale. After placing our order, we made our way to the back parking lot to find some seating. As stated, there was a live band performing and the place was pretty full. However, we did manage to get a table. There were picnic-style tables, as well as some bar-height seating. I also saw some patrons bring their own lawn chairs, so that is an option as well! The atmosphere outside was very lively. The music was good, there were a lot of groups socializing and having a good time, and there were some yard games set up on the one side of the lot. Definitely a nice spot to bring the family or meet up with some friends if the weather is nice. The wait from ordering to when we got our food was about 30 minutes. I know the food is prepared in-house, and is not generic restaurant pre-made-type food, so this is reasonable considering that. My fiance and I split a few dishes between us. We ordered the Chilled Colossal Shrimp, the Big Fat "Wings," and the Wood Fries Parm Crusted. The Chilled Colossal Shrimp came with 5 and a nice dipping sauce. I love cold shrimp, so this was my favorite dish. The Big Fat "Wings" are chicken drumsticks prepared like wings. Since it is a different cut, you get a lot of meat for your money. We ordered them with the buffalo sauce on the side as well. They were tasty, and again, a great way to make your dollar stretch for a lot of meat! The Wood Fries Parm Crusted are unique, as they are very thick cut. It is probably over a whole potato's worth of fries, so plenty to share. My fiance loves thick-cut fries like this, so he thought these were great. We enjoyed the food overall! For my beer, I ordered the Mortar, which is an American Brown Ale. I usually prefer a brown/red/amber-type of pour, so this was right up my alley. It was a nice sipper to have throughout the night. In terms of value, I think some items have a much better value than others. Specifically, I thought the fries and the chicken were very much worth the money. I personally did not order a pizza this trip, but some of those seemed to be slightly expensive to me personally. Despite that, you can make it worth your dollar depending on what you order and what you are looking for most. Since this place is take-out only, I truly did not have a ton of interaction with the staff, except for when I put my order in. I had no issues regarding this, though I feel as though I did not have enough interaction to make a comment on this aspect of the trip either way. Likely due to all of the seating being outside, the business is dog-friendly! We brought our dog, and he enjoyed socializing with the patrons and many other dogs who were there as well. This was a great place to spend a sunny August evening! I enjoyed the beer, food, and atmosphere at Truss. We loved the live music, and learned on this trip that they regularly hold a trivia night and other events as well. The only downside is that this experience is seasonal, and weather-dependent. However, the food and beer are available year-round, so you can give that a try anytime. I would recommend checking this place out with the warmer months quickly approaching!

They're located in Dormont, which makes this a walkable brewery for me (thanks to having friends and family in the area!). A friend and I did indeed walk over to catch up on a recent Friday. The place was surprisingly quiet - my friend mentioned that they get VERY busy during the summer, when people attend events across the road and want to buy beer to go with their market and/or food truck purchases. Speaking of food trucks, Hibachi Lou was parked out front on this particular Friday. So my friend and I got our hibachi orders at the truck out front; ordered our beer and/or cider from the bar; and took everything to a table in Back Alley's dining area to enjoy. While the place wasn't packed it wasn't empty, either; families and groups of friends were playing board games at every other table or so. So, what did I think about the drinks? I'm really glad Back Alley had Arsenal Cider on tap - I ordered a glass as my "sweet treat"/dessert after dinner. First though, I decided to try a beer. Back Alley, if you see this: I'm a BIG fan of sour beers and would order those if they're on the menu in the future! As of now though, no sour beers, so I ordered a "Snowed In" - Back Alley's spiced winter ale. It was a dark beer with a blend of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, hence the "spiced" moniker. While not something I normally seek out, I really enjoyed it and am glad I tried it! Altogether, it was a 10/10 experience - I'm so glad my friend and I came here for our Friday together. I'll be back!
