My family thoroughly enjoys Greek style pizza and I had heard Oxford Pizza Palace is baking some of Connecticut's best. So I went and all of the positive comments were spot on. I ordered the Clams Casino and a Vegetable Special with extra cheese. Both pizzas were exceptional. I will definitely return for more. Also, the dining area is very clean as are the restrooms. I ordered a meatball pizza for take out after a 12 hour snowstorm of plowing in the snow equipment and was feeling pretty hungry for a late dinner. I live in the area and have been wanting to try oxford pizza palace, it seemed to be greek style pizza. I ordered a large 16inch or so meatball pizza. I usually prefer my meatball toppings flat sliced homestyle cooked meatballs, these were more small chunks but otherwise good still and fresh tasting. The cheese and sauce kind of had a different taste I couldn't completely put together i guess, idk i was hungry and i could crush the whole large pizza in probably one sitting if i tried too haha They offer an 18inch xl pizza size as well and i think next time im gunna order an xl pizza maybe a different topping to try how they make other pizzas and what the toppings taste like. There is New Haven thin crust pizza and there is Greek pizza with a thicker crust made in a pan. This is Greek pizza. The sauce taste like jar sauce, and we were lucky to have one little piece of topping per slice. Nothing like their photos. This review is overdue: We always have a positive experience at this restaurant. We've eaten in (with kids) and ordered takeout numerous times. The takeout is always great and the staff is really friendly. When we dined in they were great about the kids and gave us crayons, extra utensils, and napkins without us asking. Their pizza is delicious and they have (what I think) the best wings of all the pizza places in the area - They're plump with meat and prepared well. Had been looking for our go to pizza place in Oxford even though we rarely do takeout. Place had great reviews. Went in on a Friday night after 7 and it was nearly 45 minutes to get a pizza which seemed a bit too long given that no one else was in the dining room when we sat and there didn't seem to be a ton of walk in customers. Pizza was pretty good but not necessarily outstanding. Probably my second favorite in Oxford and since it's on my commute home I'd certainly consider stopping again. read more

This place has great pizza and grinders that are tasty and also inexpensive. The pizza is thicker, Greek-style which I like and is common for this area, this place does it just like that and does it well. You can come in and get take-out or also sit down in the separated dining area which is spacious and clean. The waitress was very nice and attentive when I went, ensuring an excellent dining experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the House Special pizza I had there and I love that they didn't skimp on the toppings. It was really hot when it came out and crispy, not falling apart like some other places I've had. Every bite was delicious and I really enjoyed it, making it one of the better specialty pizzas I've had. The calzones here are also amazing with the perfect blend of cheeses and fillings and just like the pizza, I'm so glad they don't skimp when adding things. If I had just a couple pieces of pepperoni I would have been upset, they really know how to make it right here by giving you plenty. I'm going to say straight away that this review is tempered by the overwhelming smell of moth balls the last time we ate here. It was so over powering I could hardly bear to stay and eat. It was late and we just needed to have dinner so we stuck it out. A pizza place should smell like pizza. I couldn't smell pizza at all. Not one bit. Overwhelmingly moth balls. As for the pizza? It's as good as any Oxford pizza, meaning it's not very good at all. If you have to eat pizza in the area, go down to Zois in Seymour. This was our second time using Oxford Pizza Palace to cater our event in the last 6 months and again it was quite honestly faultless. For the first party we had stuff breads, mozzarella sticks, eggplant rollatini meatballs, penne alla vodka, and I'm sure I missed a few items. Then for the most recent party we ordered meatballs, eggplant rollatini , and penne alla vodka. Food was promptly served and cooked to perfection. Oxford Pizza is awesome pizza! I'd say its my favorite in the world except that distinction goes to Zois Pizza, since that's where my favorite has been since winter 1976-77. Back then it was Seymour Pizza Palace. I don't know the family except for having purchased a zillion pizzas (and even a retirement and a wedding party there!) over the years, but i believe that 2 of Zois' sons went into the business --one now running Zois, the other running Oxford Pizza Palace. (Lucky for me, because I moved to Oxford a few years ago.) They seem to use the same ingredients and recipes, to me their food is identical --but unlike any other greek pizza in the sense that this is THE BEST! Crust is always perfect, slightly doughy on the edges but lightly crisped, at last we can appreciate why pizzerias have bakery licenses! The sauce is rich and flavorful, tomatoey with a little zest, not too much. They are generous with the cheese, and for 35 years now I would say their cheese is always the best, fresh and delicious. As for toppings, the spinach is always great, eggplant cooked just right (try the eggplant grinders too --perfect!), fresh garlic and tomatoes is always a winner, but mushrooms always define what a mushroom pizza should taste like! The salads are fresh, nothing exotic but freshness is most important, I've never said "I didn't care for that salad" at either Oxford or Zois', and I certainly have been disappointed with salads at some other pizzerias in Seymour and Oxford. Carnivores will have to make their own review, but many years ago when I still ate meat I always considered the sausage and the meatball pizzas there to be superior. Its true that Oxford Pizza Palace does not accept charge cards, so bring your cash. If you like the Greek style pizza, you will LOVE Oxford Pizza Palace! read more

We are trying all the pizza places around oxford and came here. We ordered over the phone and they said 20 min. Once we got there they seemed to forget to make our pizza but blamed it on backlog. I was born in Derby, but lived in Oxford until I moved to Arizona. About once every year or so, me and my family go to one of two locations in Oxford. Oxford pizza is definatly one of them. Their pizza, which is Greek style, is pretty much amazing. What is really intersting about Oxford Pizza Palace is its location. If you don't know were to look you'll miss the parking lot for sure. Oxford Pizza is sitting in the back of a rather old series of buildings, with no real flare. When you walk in, the decor is that of a fast food restruant. The walls are bland and mediocre. But if you judge this book by its cover, you will lose out on soooo much. Oxford Pizza Palace is my definition of pizza. My family is a bunch of pizza snob and only one other place in America beats Oxford. Their pizza here is brushed with oil and cooked to pizza perfection. The cheese and sauce are perfectly balanced and the pepperonis and sausage aren't grade D meat, but more like grade A. Along with the pizza, Oxford Pizza Palace also has amazing calzones.
