    Cheese Pizza

Another great set of pies from Papa's Pizza II! I'll admit, I was skeptical when we first made the switch, but now I won't buy pizza anywhere else in Milford. Cheese is a solid 8.4

Stopped passing through. Casual pizza place offering New Haven 'apizza' a few minutes off the highway. Was ready in 20 minutes with friendly staff. Of note, prices are for cash with a credit card fee to cover the processing cost (3.5%). I personally don't care for pizza but found both ver good (white and red). The fried eggplant on one was well done with good texture between eggplant and breading. The white pizza was well balanced between garlic, olive oil and the toppings.

The most beloved Apizza by many in Milford, CT, unchanged since the beginning. My feelings about this pizzeria are well-known from previous posts, but I wanted this review to be more complete, so I included pics of the menu this time. One thing I don't think I've mentioned in previous posts is that yes, it is Neapolitan pizza, but not as much oil as Pepe's, for example, nor as stringy cheese. I like it either way!

Had one of there subs. I got the meatball. It was absolutely delicious. They hollow out the bread and then fill it up and put the dough top on it. As you eat it , get a nice crust filled with delicious meatballs. No worries about anything falling out. The owner made the sub and was super friendly. Off street parking and close to Milford hospital.

Really awesome pizza. My family and I are still talking about it. We arrived on the earlier side of a weekday lunch crowd. Lots of people were coming in for the $6 lunch deal of two large cheese pizza slices and two drinks. The guy working here - I wish I had caught his name - was very personable and accommodating. He helped us pick great pizzas among a very large and appetizing list, and he also cut our cheese slices smaller for the kiddos. I'd get either pizza we got again. That being said, I'd want to try so many more since the menu was robust. Perfect New Haven style crust. Nice sweetness of tomato sauce. Great price, too. I definitely recommend.

While on my quest to find the very best of New Haven style apizza, I was directed to Papa's Pizza II by numerous group members. All of the advice was spot on. Ordered a large white clam and finished it on-site. Crust was perfect - loved the clams & garlic - char was ideal. Easy five stars. Scott & Kim were taking care of business and were a huge complement to my overall experience. Eat in and you'll be a better apizza fan for it.

    Breakfast pizza

We finally got our hands on the Breakfast pizza! It is easily the best pizza in Milford and this pie does not disappoint. It's going eggs, tater tots, bacon and their signature hangover sauce. The crust is perfectly cooked and crispy. It only comes in a small but it was enough to serve the whole family with a side of fruit. You have to preorder or call right at 8 to see if they have any timeslots left but it's well worth the extra planning. We love this place and this pizza!!

Kwok has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Some of the other restaurants he has opened include Sweet Basil in Fairfield, Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Cafe in Westport, and Eat Noodle in Bridgeport. Kwok and Nguyen's latest venture opened at the Connecticut Post Mall in a restaurant space that was previously home to Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar, which specialized in tavern-style pizzas cooked in a cast-iron skillet. 8 Thousand Pizza offers this same style of pizza, but what sets them apart from the previous pizzeria is that they also offer self-pouring technology, which became legalized in Connecticut in 2021. The food menu features two dozen tavern-style pizzas as well as burgers, wings, fries, salads and soups. Through the use of a supplied electronic bracelet, customers can self-pour their own beverage from a selection of 28 craft beer taps and 6 wine taps. There's a two-pint or 32-ounce limit for the self-pours. I recently visited 8 Thousand Pizza for dinner. I had previously visited the space when it was Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar and was sad to hear that they moved. However, this new business concept of a tavern-style pizzeria with self-pouring taps sounded very interesting to me. This was actually my first visit to a self-pouring taproom, as these types of establishments only just began opening in the state in the last few years. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Grandma's Tomato Pizza" (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, tomatoes and EVOO) and the "Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza" (tomato sauce, pepperoni, hot honey sauce and mozzarella cheese). The latter happens to be 8 Thousand's signature pizza. Both pizzas had crust so thin that it's almost cracker like; they didn't flop at all. They were super crispy with excellent sauce and toppings. I honestly can't decide which one I liked better; they were both very good. During my visit, I enjoyed some self-pours of Grey Sail Brewing's "Captain's Daughter" (Double New England IPA) and New Park Brewing's "Cloudscape" (American IPA). Delicious pizza with craft beer is always an excellent pairing! I had a really nice experience at 8 Thousand Pizza and I hope to return with my family.

Paying by the ounce. Service was nice and attentive. But you have to go up to the counter to order. Many of the betas were out or empty. I did like that. They had a wide selection of glasses available for the different styles of beer.

Before ordering, we informed our waitress that a member of our party has a severe shellfish allergy, including all shellfish and anchovies. Since she was new, I took extra time to clarify the allergy and discuss safe menu options. We determined that I could not order anything fried, including chicken cutlets, because the fryer is shared with shellfish items such as calamari and shrimp. Unfortunately, this is a challenge we often face when dining out. Given the limited options available, I ordered the ravioli with Sunday sauce. However, I became very sick that night. While I cannot say with certainty what happened, I suspect there may have been some form of cross-contamination in the kitchen, whether from gloves, utensils, or food handling procedures. What made the experience even worse was the interaction with the manager, Cindy. I found her to be rude, dismissive, and lacking the customer service skills expected in a hospitality setting. Rather than showing concern for a guest with a serious food allergy, her attitude left us feeling unwelcome and unvalued. Based on conversations with others, this behavior unfortunately does not seem to be an isolated incident. Between the apparent lack of allergy safeguards and the poor customer service we experienced, this visit has left us questioning whether we will return. Food allergies are not preferences; they are serious medical concerns that require careful attention and respect.
