I love the produce but unfortunately I have to review and downgrade based on my last experience in the store. I am a disabled US Military Veteran with a service dog. I was recently what I consider hassled by a store employee in the front aisle of the store in front of other customers about the service dog because I let another customer pet it that had asked. This is completely allowed by law. A service dog can go anywhere that their human owner can go and expect not to be made uncomfortable. Employees need to be trained on the proper ADA Law protecting people with disabilities from just this type of behavior. Very unjustified behavior from an employee. Please next time be helpful or just stay out of my way so I can live my life like the rest of the population. Take the time to read the ADA rules on service animals and protections for people with disabilities even if your establishment doesn't take the time to inform you properly. read more

I have been shopping at this much-loved local grocery store for 20 years and appreciate its many long-term employees who go out of their way to help customers. Boar's Head products in the deli make it better than any other local store. Good selection of organic products, international foods, and baking. Local produce in season and other local products such as Ithaca yogurt, Trinity Valley dairy, and eggs from pastured chickens on nearby farms. Good and walkable layout for staple items and, unlike other local stores, P&C does not constantly rearrange its general organization of shelved products (i.e., Wegman's gimmick), which makes it easy and efficient to shop. It is a great place and I highly recommend it. read more

Rude and lazy help and high prices. They must have a high turnover because most of the help looks like first year high school dropouts.

I think it really stinks how this store can price gouge their customers? I went into the store tonight to get a loaf of bread and a jar of Mayonnaise, 1299 for a jar of Mayonnaise for a smaller jar. It was 999. That is ridiculous. read more

Five stars are for donuts! It's way better than Dunkin's and not as expensive as some gourmet versions sold at cafes. You can go in and grab them in paper bags and a tissue, plastic-free. They also have pizza bagel which was surprisingly good. A satisfying donuts shopping experience. Staff are nice too. One guy asked if I needed a basket. The store is a nice size, no need to walk around so much. Long live a local grocery store! read more

The staff here are phenomenal and customer service is obviously their main goal. The interior is a bit outdated but they do very well with the space. It's organized and most items are very easy to locate. Oh did I mention the staff? If you ask for anything they will most likely stop and assist with any concern. The salad bar and subs are fresh and there is a reason this store is super busy during lunch. Local produce and goods are placed throughout the store and they pride themselves on stocking everything for any request. Great local business with great local people. read more

I just love it here, feels like an old fashioned, neighborhood grocery store. They carry lots of local products and fresh produce from local farms in the summertime. Usually good for a quick in and out trip, easy to find a parking spot. The staff are so friendly and cheery! The exact opposite feeling of anxiety and rush that you get at Wegmans read more

Meh. Gluten-free bread is $7.19 per loaf vs. $6.99 at Wegmans, couldn't find organic crunchy peanut butter, couldn't find organic bananas that are ripe, nor could I find whipped cream in small size. Not a very good experience. read more

Staff is incredibly helpful. Always easy to park and get in and out of the store and parking lot. Open 24 Hours - very convenient if you live in Collegetown or anywhere in Belle Sherman or surrounding areas all the way to Slaterville and do not want to deal with the headache of Route 13. Better time to shop later in the evening or ealry in the morning. Midday is not too bad either. It can get busy around 4PM when people are getting out of work, through 8 or 9PM (moreso weekends extending to 8-9PM). Selection variety is aquequate and good quality; they do not have an expansive international foods section or 8 varieties of Ketchup, or a pharmacy, or a pasta station, or sushi station, etc...like at Wegmans. BUt if you are looking for convenience and value, this is the place. The staff will help you find anything you are looking for. The deli area has some great quick lunch options also and they have fresh bread, butcher, seafood... There is a Rite-Aid across the street, and laundromat, Collegetown Bagels, liquor/wine store, and more all in the same plaza - so its kind of like a one-stop plaza - I drop off laundry and prescriptions, get lunch, go shopping.... and only have to park one time. read more

Absolutely my favorite grocery store by far. I'm from out of state, but frequently visit Ithaca. Every time i come up, I make an effort to go and pick up a pack of Ithaca root beer. It's always well stocked and has great variety of brands. Always wonderful and friendly service. They always card which is great to see. We were checked out but by a wonderful man by the name of Stephen who was friendly and to me really reflected the vibe of the store. An absolutely wonderful establishment. read more

The best thing about P&C is that it is 24/7. It's not an extraordinarily large supermarket but you're not going to be missing much. Decent selection and fair prices in the outskirts of Ithaca...where your choices are slim to none. So if you live or work near here and need something, it's not a bad place to go! read more

P&C--wow, the produce has really been improving. I just got a perfect watermelon. And I bought local produce (yay! cucumbers!). As a small grocery store, P&C doesn't carry a huge stock, but there's a lot to find if you just look: local Ithaca Hummus, for instance, and an excellent selection of organic stuff. And some items that other big stores don't carry, e.g. the best cottage cheese, with no additives. The best kitty litter: Cedarific, which is completely biodegradable and very cheap. My favorite bread: Heidelberg. I'll be heartbroken if they ever stop carrying that! I love the fact that the store is never crowded: I can park close, and pop in and out in minutes for a fast purchase. The staff are also excellent, friendly, well-trained. The staff is cute, baked goods are ok, and there are some good (if overpriced) products. But who ever thought it would be a good idea to wrap the entire organic section up in plastic wrap? People who buy organic food are the ones trying to avoid that sort of thing. All the "conventional" foods are NOT wrapped in plastic, which adds to my fury! (Edited to 4 stars. I love this store. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than at the big-box grocery stores, but access and parking are easy, lines are short, staff are courteous, and produce is as local as it can be and fresh. And savvy shoppers can find some very good buys here. For me, though, the biggest plus is the convenience. Right on my way home from work and more often than not, a quick in and out to meet my grocery shopping needs. read more

Yes, I know...the produce section is underwhelming. But I just don't like fighting my way through Wegman's (unless I'm awake 2 AM) and the staff at P&C is so darned nice and very helpful. P&C has made a good effort toward supporting local suppliers and those of us who want organics. I am a loyalist, for the convenience, the vibe and the low stress environment. read more

P&C is a good option if you live nearby and have a short grocery list that does not justify going all the way to Wegmans or Walmart. Their bakery is quite nice and I am a big fan of their cherry pies. Their down side , apart from high prices, is probably their produce section. I have never found fresh fruits in P&C. read more
