My wife and I were able to visit quite a while back and I'm just now getting around to writing a review. It was October of 2013 when we had dinner here. The service was really quite good the waitress was exceptional as I remember. The food is pricey for Americanized Chinese foods, but the level of sophistication that they put into the food is really well worth the price. The thing that really made this stand out to me was that we were less than "WOW"ed by our meal. When the staff heard about this they made a few recommendations to us and gave us a sampler of another dish to try next time we visit. Terrible experience tonight. It was Fathers Day and a full house with a wait. Our party of 7 was seated promptly. Server took our order and delivered our appetizers and drinks promptly. That's when the trouble began. No food??? Normally entrees are delivered in 15 minutes or so. After 35-40 minutes the waiter informed us that our food was delayed. We were told someone had placed a takeout order for 40 dinners. They could not handle this and a sous chef was coming in to help out??? Hard to understand how the GM would take an order they couldn't handle?? Still no food . After about an hour wait we finally got our order. One of the staff delivering the order said they had a computer issue that caused the delay??? No manager ever stopped by to offer an explanation. No attempt was made to create goodwill by offering a discount , dessert or incentive for a future meal. It was here's the bill, and we are sorry about that extra hour wait. Food was good. However , the 3 child's dinners we ordered were minuscule. Made for 2 year old, much much smaller than in the past. Changs has been slipping in recent years. Very poor management tonight. After going here for many years with my family after shopping around the mall, my last trip will be my LAST. I'm not sure what the problem with this place has been recently but most of the workers in this place are so stuck up you are lucky if you don't get the stink eye when you walk in. The last server we had was a flat out jerk. I guess because my boyfriend and I are younger, he expected that we didn't care how he acted. We spent over $50 in this place and I can say that the only time I haven't tipped in my life was this instance. Not only was his attitude completely off, he checked on us only after my boyfriend called him over after we got our food because I had nothing to drink. Then he never brought the refill and we had to call him over again. He finally brought the drink and I told him that I had gotten a regular not a diet which is what he brought. He then disappeared and never returned until he brought the check. I then told him I would take my drink that he was supposed to bring to go and he acted like he replaced the drink already. (He did not.) I get that this is a nicer restaurant but it's attached to the mall. You're going to get all sorts of people. And maybe just because people are younger does not mean that we can't afford or be aloud to enjoy a nice meal. I wish I could say that the food here is bad but I would be lying. Which is why it's even harder for me to not go back but after the experience with this server and their unfriendly staff, it's not worth it. I won't pay to be treated unfairly. read more

Finally tried this place after years of gushing recommendations from friends who found it shocking that I had never been here in my 7 years of living in the US. Needless to say, I had high expectations. The service was great - no doubt about it. Everyone was courteous and attentive. Our waiter even miraculously popped out each time one of us started in for a soup refill and ladled a new bowl of soup for us. He was so good it was almost creepy. Service aside, the food was hit or miss. Mostly miss. We started with the lettuce wraps which were great, would order again. Then we had the hot and sour soup. In general, there are two dishes that I consider true markers of whether or not a restaurant can make great Chinese/Taiwanese food. Those are hot and sour soup and kung pao chicken. Both of these dishes have unique flavors that are difficult to get just right, and in fact, the reason why I use them as markers for the quality of a restaurant's food is because I've come across so few places that can make them right. Anyway, the hot and sour soup was a huge disappointment. A total miss. I have never had hot and sour soup that was made off of a base of soy sauce. Actually, that was pretty much all it was. We were straight up drinking soy sauce from the bowl. It was soooo salty we could barely choke down more than a bowl each. Being asian, however, I hate to waste, so we grudgingly brought home the leftovers and continued to choke it down for lunch the next day. The other two dishes we ordered were the mongolian beef and the "ma po tofu." The mongolian beef had a nice texture but again, it was overly salty. What is it with Americans and eating a ton of sodium? Now, I say we ordered the "ma po tofu" but I put this in quotations because when the dish came, I was certain they had brought us the wrong order. I even flagged down the waiter and double checked but he confirmed that the fried tofu ringed with broccoli was indeed the "ma po tofu." I have NEVER seen ma po tofu interpreted this way. In fact, there really is very little room for interpretation with ma po tofu. Ma po tofu has always been the same dish no matter when and where I have it - soupy, spicy, diced up soft tofu with scallions and SANS broccoli. Once I got over the fact that this was simply not ma po tofu like I have always known it, I accepted the idea of having ordered a fried tofu dish. The problem with the fried tofu, however, was that it was not crispy on the outside. So it was ma po tofu that was neither crispy nor soupy... and just kind of fail all around. The broccoli (and anyone who knows me knows I love asian cooked broccoli) was super salty... surprise surprise. The last disappointment of the night was the steamed rice. Instead of using nice, sticky, delicious asian rice, the rice they served at PF Chang's was hard and dry. Good rice is a must for Chinese restaurants as well. On the plus side, my boyfriend spoke very highly of their mixed drinks - I think he had a mojito and some sort of ginger beer (?) drink. Dinner was excellent. We started off with the lobster roll/sushi and loved it. Our server advised that the curry vegetables were a bit strong but we thought they were perfect. We also had Buddhas feast which is a large bowl of vegetables that can be sautéed or steamed, which we thought were great. There's a variety veggies, such as carrots, snow peas, broccoli, mushrooms, tofu (don't shy away from it, it was great). My favorite dish is the salt and pepper prawns which are delightfully seasoned. You have the option of brown rice or white rice - I always do brown. They offer three sauces that can be used separately or mixed together. You will have to request these as they are only provided on request now. Our server was great and had a good sense of humor. Everyone that passed table that worked there was very helpful. The only reason I'm giving this for is because of the location. This restaurant is attached to Fayette Mall which is one of the biggest malls in Lexington and off of a very busy road., Nicholasville Road. Yes, PF Chang's is a chain restaurant, but the quality of food and service is always very good. I like the options that are available, and having been to Xian China I always enjoy seeing the copies of the terra cotta warriors. My only complaint is that they took my favorite lamb dishes off of the menu. I think they may have even taken wok seared beef off of the menu, but I'm not sure about that. My vegan wife also likes eating at PF Chang's because they have options that fit with her diet. They also have a full bar, and if seating isn't available in the main dining room, you can sit at the bar and eat. Reservations are usually a good idea. I'm definitely a fan. read more

The meal is ALWAYS perfect. The service is always top notch and though the price isn't the lowest option you have, it's worth EVERY penny. The Melon Shrimp is truly one of the best dishes on the menu. I know, it sounds weird but oh man is it good! A party of five went on a Saturday. I wondered why the restaurant wasn't busy. I soon discovered why. The lettuce wraps are still excellent but 3 of us were not happy with our entrees. I had the pad thai - or should I say - their version of pad thai. Rice noodles mixed with the chicken I paid extra for (and tofu! to stretch the chicken. Did you think I wouldn't notice?!) covered with raw, slivered carrots (straight from a bag), whole, raw, scallion stalks, and raw bean sprouts (again straight from the bag). While I prefer my veggies chopped and incorporated with the noodles, I would have accepted them whole had they at least been sauteed. My friend said her street noodle dish was tasteless. read more

Despite being attached to the mall, the interior decor of the restaurant reflected a nice ambiance that made for a romantic evening. We enjoyed the lettuce wraps, which is the same comment we hear from other friends who've visited. I ordered Chang's Chicken Noodle soup, which has a touch of spice with tomatoes and mushrooms. It's a great take on an American staple and worth the meager price. My wife ordered the shrimp lo mein, which was also delicious. I ordered hot and sour soup, Szechuan eggplant and chicken with cashews. Everything tasted very good however the chicken with cashews didn't have any cashews. At first I thought maybe I miss ordered however after confirming with the server that it did order chicken with cashews I realized there must've been a mistake. The server brought this to the attention of the manager. The manager came over and politely apologized and asked if there was anything that he could do to fix the situation he then offered to provide me a to go order of chicken with cashews and he also removed the original charge from my bill. This is what I call going well above and beyond what was necessary however it did leave me happy knowing that they really were sincere about the mistake. I only had to have their food once to know never again. I ordered my food for pick up and that was when it was the beginning of the end. First the person on the phone couldn't understand me even though I was in a dead silent room and she had no back ground noise, she read back my order several times and kept forgetting items, when I picked up my order and took it to where we were eating less than 10 minutes away I found the food to be some of the worst I had ever eaten. The rice was crunchy, the meal I got tasted as if someone knocked a salt shaker into it while being somehow almost freezing inside. Used to eat at P.F. Chang's once a month 10-15 years ago in Las Vegas. But live in Lexington now and just don't get there. Suffice it to say things have changed. I guess since they have been making frozen foods they think the quality at the restaurants should taste like the frozen dinners. We ordered take out and I just couldn't believe it. Couldn't have been more disappointed. Virtually every dish was way over breaded. Almost double the breading versus what it used to be. And the dynamite shrimp..well let's just say I had a hard time trying to find the shrimp under the dough ball it was fried in. It was like a cheap dollar store version of Bang Bang Shrimp. I'm done. This is my go-to feel good Asian restaurant. I'm in Lexington every week for my chemotherapy, so I really like stopping in and seeing my favorite waitress, Nicole. She doesn't just care about her work, but she genuinely cares about my condition. She prays with me and my mom. And it always puts a smile on my face to see her.
