I switched to P Gagnon & Son a few years ago after being dissatisfied with another propane company who had been bought and sold several times and now had poor customer service. P Gagnon has been great from the start dealing first with the salesman, The removal of the prior company's tanks and the installation of theirs. I am mostly a seasonal resident but when I have spent a week or two when it's been cold and I know I am going through more propane then they expect based on my customer profile and billing patterns, I call and let them know and where the gauge is at so they can put me on the schedule for delivery if I need it. They have always been responsive to that, even at the busiest times of the season. They have always been pleasant and answered my questions. I needed service on a Renai heater last year and they did a good job with scheduling and servicing for me. I heard recently that they sold their propane service to another company that wanted to expand into Maine. So far, I have not noticed any difference in the service that I have been getting after that sale which has been some time ago. The same people are answering the phones and delivering the propane and the trucks still bear the company name. read more

This company which was bought out by a corporate company EDP, are the qeprst people to work for. They do not care about thier employees whats so ever. Won't pay any overtime, even if you work it. Taking away people's sick time and vacation time , listing long time employees as new hires so they don't have to pay. The only way this company will realize the suck is to lose customers. It's time people know how awful they are. If I could give it a lower star I would. read more

Customer for 10 years spending 30k on fuel, maintenance and equipment. Budget customer with perfect payment record. Then came the corporate takeover. They let me run out of oil because they said I owed them $18 for a tune up part that used to be included in the maintenance package which I also paid for. There was no notice of cutoff. They just let it run out. Stay far away from these people. read more

I have 30 years of experience with P. Gagnon. You can always count on them to be there for you whenever need help. When we moved ito our house we discovered the existing furnace was in bad shape and not up to code. They resolved all issues and the furnace they sold us is still going strong. read more

Wildly different customer service from 10+ years ago when I began using them, and can't believe how they went from such a prompt provider to making you play a waiting game for a delivery. No estimate of even what day for our delivery of oil TO STAY WARM WITH A BLIZZARD COMING, for an order put in a week ago. Such a scumbag move. They really want that "emergency delivery" money, to the point where it's unclear to me exactly how early I should be scheduling a delivery. I mean, it's oil. It's never cheap and it is what it is, their service was what made them stand out and has kept us coming back for about a decade. 2 days before Christmas and they are forcing us into a game of chicken with what I'm assuming is fumes and hope left in our oil tank. I tried to establish an account with P. Gagnon and Son after 30 years with another supplier. I stopped by P. Gagnon, South Berwick office and filled out an application. After not hearing from them for two weeks, I stopped by their office a second time to inquire when I might get a delivery - I was informed that the account had not yet been set up. I gave it another week and called in to check on the status of the account - I was informed that the account had not yet been set up. I gave it another four days (this was prime heating season and my tank was now down to roughly 40 gallons!) before I contacted another dealer who promised delivery within four days! I guess you can say I am NOT a fan of P. Gagnon and Son. They do, however, have wonderful historic pictures pictures of their founder on the hallway of their office building! read more

I've used P Gagnon for years now and I'm surprised with the reviews. I've never had a problem with them and every person that I come in contact with is more than helpful. Their office staff, the management, sales and their technicians are all wonderful! Ive used them many times (more than I'd like to but that's not their fault), sometimes on the weekend and sometimes late at night..... Every time I've called, I've had nothing but a positive experience! I use them for my propane delivery as well and they always make sure I don't run out...... If you are looking for a cheap price and a company that does not care, use someone else, you will be sorry though....... If you want a reputable company that cares and takes care of you, use P Gagnon. I know I'll be using P Gagnon for everything because I realize the value in a company that takes of their customers!!!! read more

Called in July 2023 to get a propane quote and get setup as a new customer. It felt like a racket from the beginning. I was directed to an account manager who controlled the price I was to receive instead of using pricing that would be consistently applied to all customers. I was asked how much I would use in a year etc. Why should that matter to a company that SHOULD be operating as a utility providing a core necessity product to residents instead of a filthy corporation profiteering when they can get away with it. It felt like a sales situation whereby the company tries to take advantage of you based on how they perceive your awareness or financial situation, probably also based on the location you live, given they ask for your address... I live in what's considered a wealthy town in a nice neighborhood so it felt like I was being soaked more than if I lived in a backwoods location. In any case, I was quoted $4.39/gal. I went to a competitor after calling around and was promptly and kindly assisted with a transparent pricing structure with a first time fill-up of $1.899 instead. No fees for a tank inspection either. It seems some companies think they are fine using inflation and other artificial reasons to rip people off. If the company charging 66% less than P Gagnon is still making a profit, how much profit is P Gagnon making at the ridiculous price I was quoted??! Greedy much??! read more

The office staff can't perform basic office tasks which results in horrible customer experiances! The unacceptable silent treatment they provide is resulting in total utter ZERO CUSTOMER SUPPORT! Not a single word! They let e run out of oil and now they won't take any responsability for the offices deplorable ability to do their job. I tried to pay a previous delivery but the office staff refused to take the money more than once. It was a coupke of months before I was made aware the partial payment was never charged and then after the office girl told me it wasn't then she didn't run the card on file again. That's twice for the partial and once for the total. This resulted in my account being put on hold like I am a delinquent customer that happens to have excellent credit and the funds were always available but they kept sending me bills with finance late fee charges. after the delivery last Sunday they whacked my card for 2 deliveries!!! I AM NOT A COD CUSTOMER! They owe me 50 gallons for letting me run out!v They refused my payments, that is debt paid in this country in full per law! Fraudulently charged my card and did so like I am some bum on COD. I also 8 days later don't have a bill for the last delivery!!! The delivery guy restarted the furnace. I let him because it was their fault so they better not think I am paying for their incompetence with that either. The drivers and techs have been excellent. The delivery guys and techs should do the office work also, it's bound to be an improvement! The handling of office work is likely to bury this company.There must be tons of other issues with other customers. It only makes perfect sense when basic tasks lack proper execution. This customer is looking for a company that at least responds when an issue arises! read more

This company is the epitome of capital greed. I've been a customer for 26 years and they recently charged me for labor and parts that were wholly unnecessary. They also owed me a credit that I had to call several times, stop at their physical location, and insist on speaking to those in higher command. When they incompetently left a job half finished because they rushed out after 15 minutes, I called to have them come back to finish and they charged me the second time for another service call. The customer service is unbelievably poor. I still can't believe they're still in business. They're higher cost and less professional of any other energy business around. How many frozen nights shall I endure at the hands of this greedy gas company. The gauge on my tank has been broke for years and I've told them that several times. I've had no heat since Friday, today is Tuesday. I thought it was illegal to freeze someone out because of an outstanding balance. Which by the way isn't even in my name. They also can't give me a breakdown of what charges are mine. Plus the gauge goes to 80 but on my bill they say they put 100 in the tank? Is my tank some sort of Doctor Who vehicle? read more

Their service techs are great but unfortunately that is the only good thing I can say about P Gagnon. Their prices are higher than most other places in the area for both propane and oil, and their office staff are mostly unfriendly (except Debbie). The big problem with P Gagnon is with their sales guy Kent. He is slow to respond to emails and never returns voicemails. He gave me a quote for a small project and after I put down the deposit, he raised the price by more than 40% without anything changing. I asked for a manager to call me to discuss and I never heard from anyone. Still waiting for my deposit to be refunded. I found another local company to do my project instead, and for less than P Gagnon originally quoted me. I strongly recommend you stay away from this company. read more

Cannot say enough about this company! Kind, efficient, professional and ethical barely seem adequate! Trust can only be earned. And I trust them infinitely! We ran out of oil on dec. 27th, on the first of many sub-zero nights. We are new to Maine, and my wife has chronic bronchitis and asthma. She cannot breathe cold air when suffering an episode. Their polite, professional driver had us up and running in about an hour, even though the demand on their services must've been HUGE! Every time we've needed them, they've been there. For many years we have enjoyed the benefit of P. Gagnon & Son who have provided our propane energy. Their service people are professional, knowledgeable and, best of all, at our door within what seems like a minute after I have hung up the phone asking for their help, no matter the season. The Gagnon office staff is friendly and helpful and always ready with the best alternative plans and prices to fit my needs. I was a customer since 2011 at 3 different houses, switched to propane and decided on a different company that came with great reviews from our plumber. P. Gagnon refused to empty our tank and we were forced to pay a company to do it. This was so disappointing as I was a customer for such a long time. I purchased a home that had a furnace installed by P Gagnon and had previously used them for service & propane. The home has been vacant for some time and I asked that P Gagnon come to check out the system and service or replace it as needed. The woman on the Phone told me they won't come out unless I'm an existing customer. I explained that i just bought the home and the former owner was a customer but she either didn't care or didn't understand. I asked if they still do new home installations and she said yes. So I asked how new homeowners become customers and she had no answer. Instead, she gave me the name of a former employee who runs his own repair service and suggested I contact him. I did that but he never returned the call. I followed up with a contact request on Gagnon's web-site and still no contact. Given this I have little faith that this company will be there to provide service in an emergency. read more

This business expects customers to pay up front for product when they have no idea how much product will be delivered. A horrible Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable model if I ever heard one. It's ridiculous to have to explain to their agents that you need to create an invoice in which the customer will pay. Not sure if this organization is floundering financially or have too many bad debts, but recommend trying elsewhere. read more
