Worst customer service experience I have ever had. After being a loyal customer since early 2022, I called to discuss my pricing. The Billing Manager was incredibly rude, shouted at me, and made unprofessional personal remarks before hanging up on me. I've switched to a new provider and will be saving $1.40 per gallon. I do NOT recommend Estes Oil & Propane. Recently in a Emergency our Heating System needed replacement. I got three Estimates and now regretfully we chose Estes because they were a local business and we felt that would be great in the event we needed service and wanted to give a Local business our business. What a mistake we made. Two Guys came to do the Install which took much longer than it should have and towards the end of the Install and being a Friday all they wanted was to get out and go home so corners were cut and a messy job was done. I had concerns about 5 or 6 things and brought them up to the Installers and got completely ignored or given a lame excuse. I had grave concerns about some of these concerns but they did not care and they left without hanging out to see the new System Cycle a few times. I worried all weekend. The following Week I reached out to the Guy who gave the estimate and he passed my message onto the Service Dept, they did not contact me til late in the Day and then he gave me the runaround also and did not want to send someone out but finally did but this guy brushed off most of my concerns also and only dealt with two of them but still leaving me very concerned about the others. We were forced to buy oil from them in order for them to do the Install and they were quick to come fill us up but not come back for Service concerns. Today I spoke to the Guy who did the estimate again voicing my concerns and he could care less but said he would see what he could do about getting someone out. I had concerns cause it is Fri and we have very cold weather coming and a big storm. He said if he could not get someone to come out he would come himself, well it is the end of the day and guess what?? No Call and no visit himself and I am really concerned. I was told a new system could not be installed if the Chimney was not Lined, well guess what the Chimney is NOT lined and they Installed the new system without so much as looking into that also. We are so very let down by Estes Oil and regret giving them our business and I am very concerned about the Fumes I feel I am getting in the House and the Very Noisy Blower Motor and they could Care Less they just want their money. Join this company because I thought it was a family owned business with consideration for the community and thereby better quality service than bigger companies. Their biggest plus is that they use biofuels for the environment but since I've started using them my oil line tends to clog especially when near empty. And if you're an internet customer who gets a .30 discount they treat you like the cheap bastardized child that doesn't deserve even a little technical support to get the line unclogged or serviced. Although the website specifically says if your empty call us directly the receptionist was very short when she found out I was using the internet and cut me off a couple of times as if I would never accept the higher price. They will not even provide technical assistance even if you offer to pay extra unless you're a premium customer paying full per gallon rates. But regardless they do deliver quickly and for that 4 stars. read more

I cannot overstate the quality customer service experience I have had with Estes Oil. I've used them since buying our home two years ago. They had serviced the furnace before, so I just stuck with them. They have always been easy to schedule service with, priced reasonably, and been friendly with every visit. However, this week we smelled oil when the furnace was on and they came out on the same day to check on it. The news was bad, the furnace needed to be replaced - even worse news was that we were traveling and would be leaving the area in three days (long story). The man that came for service, whose name I wish I'd gotten, explained many options for me and said that Jim would call me with a quote in the morning. Before I was even awake, I had a quote in my email box. However, I had some questions. I emailed him back those questions and he called me within a few minutes, said he needed to confirm something onsite before he could change the quote. He was at my front door within 30 minutes. He checked out what he needed to, and we talked through options. I explained what I wanted to do and my insane timeline. He said he would see what he could do. Once back at the office a few hours later, Jim called with the great news - they could do it! He had ordered the new furnace, it would arrive in time and they would install. It was an unreal relief, truly. It would be impossible to explain here how much. Estes installed our furnace on Friday, after confirming it failed Wednesday. They were helpful, explaining the process, every person that worked at the house was professional, friendly, and honestly a delight to have around. A huge thank you to the team at Estes Oil. We pay for the blue ribbon program so when we do not have heat they come out to service. We called on a weekday during normal business hours and the switch to turn off the heat had gotten switched off when we had another service completed. I did not know to look for this. They charged us $140 to come out any though we pay for the blue ribbon program. Customer Service is very poor. Would not recommend. read more

I have never been more disappointed in a local company. I got an aggressive phone call two days ago from Angela, the head of the billing department telling me that I am 30 days past due on a propane delivery for $220. I did not even realize that I received a propane delivery as I thought we were was set up on a plan to call when we needed more as it is only needed for our fireplace (My husband is very adamant that that's how our account was originally set up). I wanted to talk to my husband before paying this and figure out exactly why we suddenly received a delivery, so to give us some more time I asked her if it was possible to schedule a payment for next week. Her response to me was, "yes but you will be billed an additional finance charge if it's paid after today" and when I asked her how much it would be she said she didn't know and that it depends on "all kind of factors" So I said, ok, so there's no way you can help me out with the finance charge? And she acted incredibly confused by my question and said "We do not give propane for free..you need to pay for your propane" and I told her that I very much realize that I need to pay for my propane but I was asking if there was any way she could help me to avoid the finance charge. Then she proceeded to ask me if this is how I pay for all of my bills. She said, "do you go to hannaford and ask them for free food?" I told her that I couldn't believe just how rude and disrespectful she was being to me and that all she had to say was "no, I'm sorry, unfortunately there is nothing that I can do about the finance charge and I would have said ok" and she said "No, I'm sorry, I do not have any sympathy for people who do not pay their bills on time....especially people who sit at home and run their propane fireplaces that they don't pay for and the fact that you're at home right now on a Tuesday at 11am tells me a lot" I was so stunned by the way she was talking to me and treating me. And how did she even know I was home?? We've lived in our home for two years now and we rarely run the fire place because we have three small children and it worries me to have it on with them. We haven't even used it since last Christmas Eve, so the fact that they suddenly came to fill it without a phone call makes me question even more what kind of business they are running. Angela then proceeded to tell me that she needs my credit card now or she's going to send someone over to lock my tank. I told her that I have never been so degraded by someone and her response was "I know, I feel like I'm talking to my child" I asked to speak to a manager and she told me that she was the only one who I could speak with but if I want to I can come down to the office and talk in person and I said "great! I'll be right there". I grabbed my two kids and within 20 minutes I was down at the office and was told that Angela "went to lunch" and dealt with the situation as far as scheduling my payment for next week with Jess. When I asked if I could talk to anyone about the situation Jess said that it will be noted...whatever that means. I left feeling frustrated and defeated and called a friend to tell her the situation. Turns out my friend knows Angela "Angie" and she is also a York resident. It turns out she was the woman in the back office who quickly went in to hide in the next room when I got there. She did not go to lunch and everyone in the office lied to me and acted as if she was not there. I called back and explained to Jess that I now know Angela was there and that I'm very disappointed with the way I've been treated and I would like to close out my account. She said she understood. I would rather have no fire in my fireplace than have fire from a company who is ok with keeping an employee who makes a point to call customers and personally attack them. I cannot imagine ever saying anything like that to anyone, let alone a customer. After reading a lot of these reviews I see that I am not the only person that Angela has done this to. Shame on you Estes for being okay with such condescending behavior and keeping an employee like this. read more

We were a little late paying our bill so 2 months after fill up, without authorization or any warning they just took the whole payment out of our account. We are not on automatic payment either, we always called in the payment or paid online. Pretty sure this is an illegal practice and will be looking into this from a legal standpoint. I expected a late notice or something before they just broke into our bank account. Don't provide them with your account numbers if you do business with them, recommend paying with cashier check or some other means that does not provide your personal account numbers. read more

Got charged for something I didn't even ask for and they were extremely rude about and didn't apologize for the mistake they made. They are thieves!!!! Beware! They delivered more propane than I requested (100$ minimum in Maine). They delivered 435$ worth and sent me a bill! I asked them to come pick up the tanks the next day (with the propane still in them). They told me they would charge me to pick up the tanks and would not credit me for the propane that they had delivered the day before. I had the tanks disconnected by another company who was charging $2.00 a gallon less. Then they sent me another bill for propane they say they delivered AFTER the tanks were disconnected. They are not capable of doing an honest business RUN!!!! read more

I have had Estes oil since 2016. I have had nothing but exceptional service. I pay a monthly rate as part of their budget plan which also includes all the service fees if service is needed. Each year they call and check in with me when the plan is about to renew answering any of my questions and making sure it is still the right plan for me. There has been multiple times that i have needed them on short notice and they show right up. Everyone in their team has been nothing but kind and helpful. Highly recommend them. read more

Over a year ago, a technician left an alligator clip on the shut off after servicing our oil burner and the burner ran for over 2 weeks non stop! We were away and when we returned the house was so hot that it melted crayons in a desk, (Crayola crayons melt at 120-147 degrees F!!) The heat lifted vinyl counter and tile surfaces plus burned through all of our oil! We asked them to replace the oil, due to their negligence and the company was oppositional about doing it. We did not ask for compensation for any of the other damages. They eventually replaced the oil but it took several calls and visits from me for them to do it. This Spring we called for an oil delivery and were told we were no longer a customer! We paid on time, didn't carry a balance and THEY dropped US! No notice, no explanation! Used them for a few of years and won't be using them anymore. They put me on a service plan that wasn't accurate and I ended up paying almost $500 in one fee at the end. I called to pay for a bill I received in the mail and they had no idea what the amount was for, They also charged me for service calls each year that I never used and no one made me aware of it. Estes Oil is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The company was chosen by the builder of my home so I stuck with them. At first, I did not have any issues with them up until recently. I received a delivery in October 2021 and I usually got deliveries at most every 3-5 months. Typically, my deliveries were around $350 each time. From October - January no one was living in my house and the pilot was set to 55 degrees. Estes delivered in January 2022 saying that I needed 190gallons (mind you, no one was living in the home) and charged me $5/gallon so my bill was $950.. The HIGHEST quote I've received from other companies has been $3.62! They tried to tell me that they should have delivered in November but waited until January and that is why it is so much yet I have never needed a delivery within a month from each other in the 4 years I have been living there. They also tried to tell me the price per gallon would be lower if I used more oil.. yet for some reason I needed my tanks filled because I used so much oil? I had been laid off due to Covid and when I called to speak to them because my card was on autopay Angela was extremely rude. However, because my card was on autopay previous I understood why they attempted a partial payment and she informed me my card would be taken off of autopay that day and that if the bill was not paid within 90 days it would go to collections. Then again, a month later my card was charged again and when I called and spoke to Leann, she informed me my car was NOT on autopay so there was no reason for it to be charged but I needed to call back and speak with Angela on the following weekday. When I called, Angela immediately asked if it was me and then started claiming she did nothing wrong before our conversation even started. She raised her voice to me, told me that she never said any of the information previously stated and then continuously hounded me on how I was going to pay the rest of my bill if I don't have a job. When I explained to her that I was in the process of getting a new job she yelled "They are hiring on every corner.. how do you not have a job yet!?". Eventually I convinced her to let me speak with the owner Kate who was just as rude. She didn't seemed phased by Angela speaking to a customer that way, told me that Angela knows what she is doing so she doesn't believe what I am saying and then also hounded me about paying my bill. When I told her that Leann also confirmed by car was not on autopay she told me she did me a courtesy of answering my call on the weekend and made a mistake. I would stay away from this company. Besides the ridiculously high prices, I have NEVER experience such horrible customer service. I could see paying extra if the people were worth it but I am not sure what you would be paying any extra money for. I am so shocked by the way they run their company and warn you to stay away before you run into an issue yourself. read more

Estes Oil has been managing by oil and furnace for over 25 years! They in fact replaced by furnace 5 years ago and made sure it was running perfectly. Been a propane customer for several years. However, a couple of years back Estes decided to charge a large annual rental fee for their tank while continually pitching me oil sales. Estes oil prices are much higher than all competitors I tried. I ended up closing my propane service a few months ago and have not received a refund on the unused product or prorated rental fee. Also, I have always experienced an issue with Estes accounts payable process. I was continually doubled billed for years and had to call each time to confirm my account was in good order. read more

We were running on heating oil fumes during a cold snap and couldn't get our regular oil company out to the house for a week. I called Estes on New Year's Day and they came out the next day. After we had the tank filled, the furnace stopped running at about three in the afternoon. I called Vicki again, and Dan came out not two hours later to get the boiler back online. Is the only answer you get when you say I'm looking to get a emergency oil delivery and we have an account with you. We're almost empty and now trying to find anyone else! Early in January 2018 an Estes propane delivery driver entered my driveway and caused damage. The truck snapped the mailbox pole in half, ran over -2- LED driveway markers, and a Granite curbing that straddled a culvert. It was rolled over to the point that it will inhibit water flow on the property on the Spring thaw. I took the time to visit the office and explain what had happened. I was NOT given the courtesy to speak with a Supervisor, though I did ask to as I walked in. In the exchange I was told that "... just have it fixed and we will pay for it, but we won't pay for a Granite mailbox pole..only the like...." That remark made to me is demeaning, very offensive, but ESTES does consider that I would do such a devious thing. I only want it all remedied, and never said anything about a Granite mailbox pole. I stopped my mail - and need to pick it up at the Post Office, as the ground is now frozen, any permanent replacement(s) cannot be done until Spring. Though I was told my account will be credited, nothing is documented to me. Their negative statement doesn't bode well at all. I would expect an ESTES Supervisor to take a professional, courteous positive position and take the time to at least talk to me, instead of relaying messages with office personnel (whom I find to be good people). I find this to be a bad reflection on the company. The previous Supervisor was approachable and efficient, I had never received any negative side remarks. read more

I purchased 2 brand new oil furnaces from Este's oil in the past 5 years (separate locations), I use both oil and pellets and haven't had a need for oil delivery over the last 2 years at my residence and had a separate single delivery from a cheaper company the last time I did. Este's refused to come and service/clean the furnaces that I paid them to install. This used to be a company I recommended to friends/family, now it's a company I'll make sure to tell them to stay clear of. read more
