I've had this place on my list for awhile and finally took myself out on a little solo dinner date. Unfortunately, it just didn't hit the mark for me. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very cute. My waiter was nice as well. I ordered the Old Dog, New Tricks cocktail to start - good but weak and mostly ice. I got the roasted oysters as well but didn't like the flavor at all and found them to be quite salty. The main reason I'd been wanting to come here was for the Mafaldine Alla Vodka which I ordered alongside the Kimono Racer cocktail. Boy, what an odd cocktail, wasn't for me at all but I did know it was a risky choice, so that's on me. The pasta fell so flat - lacking in crab and I found pieces of shell. The sauce was too sweet. Just quite a boring dish. Not sure if I just hit it on a bad night as this place seems to have generally good reviews but I unfortunately won't be returning. read more

This restaurant is 2 floors and so beautiful! It's modern with nice splashes of color and it was such a vibe. Service was fantastic. This was a great spot for a girl's dinner. It's casual but you won't be out of place if you dress up. For food, we started with the crispy calamari that came with a citrus frisee salad and was already sauced up. It was a unique style that I enjoyed and much lighter than other calamari dishes I've had. The petite plateau was perfect for sharing among the 4 of us. Everything was fresh and delicious while being presented so beautifully. The cocktails I had were good. They were different from ones I typically order which I thought was fun to experiment with new flavors to see what I like. One had a pickle garnish and the other was with a non-smoky mezcal. For entrees, most of us got pasta which were all handmade and tasty. My favorite was the one with crab & vodka sauce. The cacio e Pepe & mushroom ones were also good. What stood out the most during the meal was dessert. We got the double chocolate mousse and that was one of the best chocolate mousses I've ever had! It was so gorgeous and topped with a sunflower seed praline & had tangy passionfruit sauce at the bottom which made for a flavor explosion. I was so impressed! The key lime panna cotta was also a work of art topped with candied sourdough that provided a nice crunch to the creamy texture of this dish. It was so yummy! decent neighborhood spot for happy hour or a convenient bite! i've been to wilder numerous times over the years, mainly because i live less than 10 minutes away from it. it's fine. the food is decent, i would probably give it a 3/5 for dinner -- it's never my first choice but a choice out of convenience. the happy hour, however, is solid. i especially appreciate the dollar oyster special they have on wednesdays during the summer. you can't get oysters that cheap anywhere else in philly, such a steal! i do think that the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. the decor is unmatched, and its modern, stylish, and quirky all at the same time. service is always amazing as well. i will definitely be back for the dollar oysters, and it's a bonus for dog parents that there is outdoor seating! read more

We went for Sunday brunch without a reservation. They didn't have any tables available but offered us seating at the bar or bench. We chose the bench, which was comfortable enough for one or two people. The service was excellent. Our waitress was patient and attentive. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Grilled Salmon Salad, and my friend had the Kombucha for drink. Both entrées were delicious; the salad was fresh, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. My friend liked her drink too. For dessert, we shared the pistachio and cherry tart and ordered Jade tea (one pot was enough for both of us). The tart was fantastic, with a pistachio custard base that was especially good. Overall, we were happy with our choices and the restaurant experience. Highly recommended! read more

I'll be dreaming about this meal for YEARS. Nothing makes me happier than cacio e pepe and here it's done right. Silky, creamy and cheesy perfection. Perfectly al dente noodles. I finished every last drop. I also paired this with a side of buttery broccolini which made for the perfect bite. Don't sleep on the bread and butter - it's an upcharge, but oh so worth it. The rolls were pillowy and buttery and the garlic butter was melt in your mouth. Everything on the menu sounded so decadent that it was really hard to choose. My friend ordered the chicken cutlet and it was literally the size of three plates. Cocktails were delicious, the decor was gorgeous and the service was on point. I came here for the Beef Carpaccio and it did not disappoint. Perfectly cut. Would have not overlapped as much for easier handling. The steak in the hanger steak salad was cooked perfectly. A little kick of spiciness to it. I was not a fan of the Lamb Bacon Pizza because the lamb tasted gamey to me and the cheese they used I did not enjoy. My friends seem to like it though. The Malfadine Alla Vodka - the pasta used was so unique. It really immersed the sauce in all its twirls. They did not skimp on the crab meat. I wish there was more than one unisex bathroom on the first floor. Would come back to try the dinner menu and if they add squid ink pasta to the menu. Before heading to Philadelphia for a work trip, we made reservations for a large team dinner (18+ people) in their private dining room. The team was very easy to work with and made helpful suggestions along the way. Upon arrival, I was greeted and then shown to our room where everything was setup very nicely! The menu was a preset family style selection and then we ordered bottles of white and red for the team. The wine selection was a bit unfortunate as we have a few wine connoisseurs in our group and to find a red they didn't really dislike was a challenge. There was luckily no issue with the white wines. The food on the other hand was great and I loved most items! We tried the seasonal greens salad, blueberries & burratta salad, the mafaldine alla vodka, sliced hanger steak, cacio de pepe, broccolini & carrots and then two desserts... double chocolate mouse and bomboloni. The burrata salad wasn't quite what I was used to and I think you can skip it and I feel the same about the carrots and the double chocolate mouse. The mouse was chocolate and passion fruit which just didn't meld as well as I would hope. Everything else... amazing. I LOVED both of the pastas, the steak was cooked perfectly, the other dessert was one I couldn't get enough of. I also have to mention that the ambiance was lovely and the service was fantastic from both our server and the managers who came to check in everything was as we expected. Wilder was popping on a Friday evening. Loud enough for leaning in to my dining mate to catch some parts of our conversation. Lively bar area that appears fully stocked and cute decor: multi-colored fabric across the walls-multiple chandeliers, wall sconces and small lights weaved through vines hung on the wall separating the main dining area from the bar/lounge area provide muted lighting. It made for a nice vibe We loved the wood fired pizza-perfect umami flavors from the seasoned lamb + bacon and thin but foldable and chewy crust. Burrata and apple was surprisingly a bit meh. The burrata was served too cold and we couldn't taste any flavor and the accompanying salad seemed too much like shredded bagged salad. The malfadine pasta was too al dente and served lukewarm. It was promptly replaced when we mentioned it and the replacement was much better-perfect temperature and texture. Nice amount of crab-albeit several pieces of included shell. The vodka sauce was nice-a little spicy and bright with a mild citrus tartness. The broccolini was bright and tasty despite seeming to need at least another 45 seconds of cooking. read more

On a Monday night in August, my friends and I decided to give Wilder a try after hearing of their pizza and small plates. To our surprise, this experience has now made Wilder one of our favorite restaurants in Philly after have dined at 50+ Philly restaurants. Our waiter, Joel, made our experience all the more memorable while being attentive and knowledgeable about the food he served. Our favorite dish was the Branzino with the corn puree as you can see from the photos, we nearly licked the plate clean. Another honorable mention would be the Esquites Pizza, this unique turn on pizza reminded me of mexican street corn on a perfectly charred pizza crust. The perfect summer pizza. To top the night off, we planned on getting dessert elsewhere, yet our waiter brought us a little treat (which I believe was a lavender cream puff with raspberry jam). AMAZING. On top of the food, the ambience was super chill, laidback, and comfortable. The lighting, greenery, and music were amazing. Our drinks were great, absolutely nothing bad to say. I really really loved the food here - The grilled hanger steak was fine; not the best steak I've had and at some parts were overcooked. I thought the black pepper jus was too spicy truthfully, they should have put less sauce on the plate and the "gnocchi" was odd, it was also kind of cold so it didn't blow me away. The mafaldine alla vodka was the star of the show - the noodles are fresh and have a lovely bite, and there is so much crab that is not fishy at all. If it had some red pepper flakes to garnish, it would've been perfect! The sweet & spicy pizza was also fantastic - I really appreciated how fresh and crispy the dough was. The spice from soppressata was marvelous with the honey. Lastly we got the double chocolate mousse which by itself, INCREDIBLE. The passion fruit sauce on the bottom? Not the biggest fan with the mousse. I understand that it's in theory a good pairing but it was a miss for me, I'd get it on the side. I thought the pasta was pretty good (flavorful, well cooked), but I asked for a substituted protein (which I appreciated) but the chicken I got was dry. I also did not care for the drink I ordered (kimono racer). Maybe because we came with a large group on Valentine's Day, they weren't at there best? I don't know but it really missed the mark. The food was paced well, tasted good, and the staff were attentive. Offering suggestions and letting us know we were doing things right with our cocktails. I have walked past the sign for Wilder many times and finally went for an impromptu dinner after an event. They kindly offered to seat us early (reservation was at 9:30, we showed up just at 9) at an outside table. The service - it was late and they were busy, however a few things were not exactly up to par given the prices of this restaurant. 1) when we were seated we had to wait over 5 minutes to get menus and any place settings, 2) our waiter had to come out and realize we had not received one of the dishes we ordered after all the other dishes had been out for 15+ minutes, 3) we made it clear we were sharing all of the plates, and we still had to ask for small plates a few times before getting them. All that being said, our waiter was very kind and offered good menu suggestions. I think the issues mentioned above were just the product of a busy Friday night. The Food - overall really good! We got a nice assortments of appetizers, pastas and a pizza. Would recommend the scallop crudo and burrata, as well as the stuffed cestini pasta. This is a conveniently located restaurant (near Rittenhouse and several bars) with good outdoor and indoor seating. I sat at the bar with Lucy and she was kind, knowledgeable and hospitable. The beef carpaccio was also fresh and delicious, as were the oysters (though I wish they'd had a spicier condiment available for the oysters).
