The interior feels cute and cozy! Came for dinner on a Sunday and was able to be seated immediately. The food also came out quickly. For a table of four, we ordered the family set menu and a pad kee mao. We probably could've gotten away without the additional pad kee mao, as the family menu came with more than enough food. Every single dish was delicious. I'm usually not the biggest fan of Asian glazed fried chicken but I quite enjoyed theirs. It was incredibly crispy and had a balanced sweet and savory flavor. The papaya salad was also a hit. Nothing worse than a papaya salad without spice and this one had a decent kick. I also really liked the house pork. we came here during the heat wave and were fortune that we got seated in the corner right next to a fan! the restaurant has a bunch of fans placed strategically but their ac is not super strong, so it was pretty hot unless you were right next to a fan. the bathrooms were hotter than the rest of the place since there were no fans inside. we were told there was a 20 minute wait so we waited in the restaurant. we eventually found out that there was a fan just a few steps away so we stood in front of it instead, but as soon as we moved over the host suddenly told us we couldn't wait inside, even if we moved to the spot we were originally standing. my friends and i found this pretty strange but agreed to wait outside in exchange for some cups of ice water (they serve room temperature water which is fine except not during a heat wave...). our waitress was super nice and helped me pick which drink to get. the food was pretty good! i wanted to try the gang ped lumyai because i'm a big fan of duck, and while it was delicious, i found the curry a little too salty, and the portion size was a lot smaller than i expected. the pad see ew was more than enough for one person and i really liked it. the ba mhee looked pretty good and i like all the toppings but the broth was a little too lime-y for me. we also got some drinks: the thai tea was pretty watered down despite its bright color, and the slushie alcoholic drink (i cant remember what it was called) was perfect for the summer heat. overall, i enjoyed the food and i would come back to try their lunch sets read more

Everything was very yummy; my favorite was the asparagus salad. They didn't ask us for a spice level, so I figured they just had a set spice for everything. We placed an online order at the same time our friends did, and set it for pickup about an hour and a half later. I showed up at our appointed time, and while our food was ready, theirs was not. Our daughter found this excellent Thai restaurant and wanted to introduce us to its small but excellent menu. I had a delicious dish called GRA PRAO MUU GROB. It was a combination of pork belly, onion, red pepper and green beans in a garlic basil sauce. The flavors were wonderful and the spicy heat just about right, if not at the top of my comfort zone. I loved the crispy pork and the crisp beans. My daughter got her favorite GUAY TIEW KUA GAI, a flat rice noodle dish with chicken. This is her go to dish at Thai restaurants, and considers this her all time favorite. Overall, a nice atmosphere, good service, and great food. read more

Khao Soi is my new obsession! First time having khao Soi and I need more. The flavors were impeccable. The broth was super creamy and full of flavor. The noodles had incredible bounce to them. Went here for a Sunday lunch and it was very tasty. We shared Tom Kha Gai, Pad Kee Mao, and the Green Curry, and all were delicious dishes. They also offer a family set menu that feeds four for $56 that I want to try next time. They also have a very cool looking bar and offer some great drinks. We ordered 4 things and 1 was good (eggplant wok dish), the other 3 (green curry, Tom ka, papaya salad ) were not and the papaya salad was so bad we had to send it back. The curry was abysmal but I had already sent something back so I just kept it. I loved Eem so I was so excited to try this place but have very different taste profiles going on. On the positive note, there was a server who was so kind, when my wife forgot her glasses on the table, he ran and caught up with us 2 blocks away to make sure she got them. Great food with a lot of flavor and they were able to point out things on the menu to be made vegan for myself as well as my meat eating friends enjoyed the food too! We ordered takeout from here for the first time last month through Postmates and was somewhat satisfied with our dishes. To share, we ordered: - Chicken Pad Thai - decent but not too much flavor imo - King Crab Fried Rice - probably my favorite of the 3 dishes. Good flavor and not oily. Good amount of crab meat as well - Gai Grop Sam Yan (crispy chicken) - this dish had amazing flavor but I was under the impression that it would have some chicken meat? I felt like it was chicken skin only because of how crispy it was but I could be completely wrong Overall, not bad but not my personal favorite. They were spot on with the pick up time with our food but I also think customer service was lacking a little bit. I know it's just pick up for take out only and it's almost always a super quick interaction/exchange but when we arrived, we weren't really greeted and was just stared at even though I stated we were there for pick up. This joint is a gem. Went here without them even having full menu and was a bit disappointed initially to say the least but I was so wrong. Thought about dipping to one of the many other authentic thai restaurants in town but stayed put, and so happy I did! The stir fried Brussel sprouts with bits of scrambled egg were to die for. So simple but yet not a combination I have entertained in the past but it was so good. The soft pillowiness of the bits of scrambled eggs with the crunchiness of the Brussels was magic. The issan sausage was also freakin amazing. Had better spice to it than many I have had and was high quality meat which can be hard to do with this dish. Lastly, the pad ke Mao was great. A boring, comfortable menu choice, but splendid to say the least. They utilize high quality fresh noodles and the balance of spice with fresh chili and herbidity from the basil was also to my liking. CAUTION GF: If you are gluten free do know that some labels are inaccurate. They use soy sauce (not tamari) and label it GF. Additionally, they use an oyster sauce for other sauces, but my understanding is that oyster sauce often contains soy sauce unless marked gluten free. I don't know if their oyster sauce is gluten free. The person waiting on us said that they were going to make changes. Please use caution if you are gf. I have been going to Paadee off and on for the last decade. They have a great menu, they know how to utilize fish sauce, and they have creative and tasty cocktails. But their service has steadily gone down, and my partner and I have decided not to eat there anymore. It has higher prices than typical Thai places, and the food and presentation is more upscale, but the service does not match the high prices. We have had experiences more than once now that the wait staff never comes back to check on you once the food is dropped off. That is poor service to me. read more

PaaDee's Issan menu is truly delicious. If you want Thai food but want to venture away from the usual curries and pad thai dishes, definitely give the Issan dinner menu a try. It's offered Sundays thru Tuesdays, and their regular menu the rest of the week. My favorite dishes of the night were the Gai Grop Sam Yan (crispy chicken w/ scallions and chilis) - great flavor, nice crispy chicken without any breading, and the Crab fried rice. But everything was amazing - the salt grilled rockfish (we got a half order) was amazing too - they stuffed the fish with aromatics before grilling, and it came with 3 different sauces to try. The Sai Grog Issan were rice and pork sausages with cashews and were very tasty too. The chive cakes were flavorful but a little dense for my liking. It was great to step away from the usual dishes and try something new. There's still more on the menu to explore, so we'll be back to try more items until our Langbaan reservation (6 months out!!). read more

I cannot believe the yelp sort puts a 1 star review from 9 YEARS AGO about someone finding a worm in their oyster at the top. COME ON, GUYS. FIRSTLY, all of us adults who eat oysters understand the possible risks of fresh seafood. You don't have to smear a great chef-driven establishment with a 1 star review over that. Ugh. Effing yelp. Check google reviews for back up here, Paadee is one of my favorite Thai places in Portland. Their special family meal is consistently amazing and a great value. The flavors are always fresh and fun. Order was quick and easy through their website. The food was also ready at specified time. We tried the Som Tum, Khao Soi, and Gui Chai (a very eclectic mix). Som Tum is my go-to Thai dish so my standard for it is pretty high and, unfortunately, Paadee's didn't meet it. The papaya were a bit too soggy; they should be crisp and fresh. The dressing was also too salty and heavy with msg. I had to add a few more wedges of lime to brighten it up a bit. Their peanuts were good though, crunchy and big. The Khao soi, on the other hand, wasn't too bad. The curry could have been spicier but it still hit the spot with the egg noodles and fried wontons. I was a bit confused by the toasty concoction that came with it though. Normally, you'd get some sort of chilli oil to add to the dish, maybe it's their version of it. The Gui Chai was surprisingly the best dish out of all three! It was chewy and crunchy. The sauce was the star for me, sweet, tangy, and full of toasty fried garlic. Overall, a decent takeout dinner. Portland's a pretty good city for Thai food, but among all the 4/5* options in the surrounding area, it took me a long time to end up here, though it deserves to stand out more. We probably spent only $5 more on the entrees than we would at one of our go-tos, but it was more like +$20-worth of ambiance and uniqueness in cuisine.
