Since moving to Jacksonville from CA, I've had a hard time finding decent sushi. Even some of the places that are rated fairly high on Yelp haven't been that great in my opinion. Pacific Asian Bistro has the best sushi I've had so far in the Jax area. Pros: -They use real crab meat (not crab stick or krab) -They have a large selection of standard and special rolls -Although they are in a strip mall, the atmosphere inside is quite nice. Still casual but nice. -Servers and sushi chef very friendly and attentive Cons: -If you are coming from Jacksonville, it is a good 30-45 minute drive (if you are in St. Augustine, this place isn't near the scenic downtown area so it would still be a 5 or 6 mile drive north, and there is nothing around it worth seeing) -One too many rolls have tempura something in it, which isn't what I want when I go out for sushi Bottom Line-if you want to do a day trip out of Jacksonville or even just an evening in St. Augustine, I'd say this place is worth the trip and I'd definitely go again when I'm heading down to that area. read more

Great food. Reasonable prices. Everything is fresh. I you want spicy, you will have to ask for it, even on the dishes noted as spicy.

This place is excellent. The ambience is nice and elegant. Staff was very nice and attentive. Food is amazing. Sushi was nice and fresh. The platters were so tasty -- they give you plenty that you'll take home. Everything was quick as well, while still being perfectly made. Better than all the Asian food places around here. I love Pacific's sushi! I have ordered from their regular menu only once. It is one of the better Asian cuisine restaurants in the area. Their sushi is something I can rave about. I love going for lunch when they have their specials. Chef Mas....I was told had a restaurant in Las Vegas. He learned out to make the best sushi ever and brought his knowledge to NE Florida. The sushi at Pacific Asian Bistro is the best sushi we've had! My husband and I travel and have eaten at sushi restaurants all over the country and we LOVE the sushi here. The best part is that the food is consistently good, and we always get great service as well. Our favorite server, Tuna, always greets us with a smile and makes sure we are taken care of. For all those that have not been out to Palencia Village to try this place, you should be ashamed to call yourselves sushi lovers! This place is out of this world. Fusion Point can not even come close to this place. So here's the deal. My kids wanted Chinese food and my wife and I wanted sushi. What to do right? Well I get on the web and find this site, www.marketplacepub.com and they have an add for the Pacific Asian Bistro. I had no idea it was just over in Palencia, (we live in World Golf Village). So it says they have sushi, Chinese and Japanese. WINNER!!!! we all get what we want. We drive over, get seated right away and BAM! All of a sudden it is like we are sitting in a room full of our friends. These guys and gals were awesome. Always there when you need something, they usually knew before we did! The food was out of this world. The sushi chef was trained in NYC and it showed. He is very creative and by far the best sushi chef I have had the pleasure of finding since moving here from NY 9 years ago. Absolutely the best Asian food I have had locally! Pleasant but small atmosphere. Fresh sushi and delicious traditional chinese dishes. Be sure to try the Sesame Beef and the Hunan Chicken... two if my family's favorites. A little more expensive that some others nearby but it more than males up for it in flavor and atmosphere. Not a fan of sushi but my brother loves the sushi here. I got kung pow chicken and spicy chicken fried rice and this is the best Chinese/Sushi spot in St.Augustine! When looking for a place to eat, eating in strip center is not something I would necessarily choose. But it was amazing!! Best Asian restaurant I have had. We shared a Roll as an appetizer that's was "dynamite" literally, that's what it was called and it really was good! The orange chicken, chicken lo main, Mongolian beef, and general tso's chicken were all top notch to say the least. We went on a Friday night around 7 something it was crowded but we didn't have to wait long. Highly recommend this place if you want sushi or Asian food. Yummy!! read more

Best sushi in St Augustine. Very addicting !

Let me preface this review by saying it has been a couple of months since I've dined here but I have been there 4 times. With that being said, each time has been very, very good. I eat a lot of sushi and while I can be happy with local utility sushi when I want really good sushi this is where I go. By far, the best thing I've had there is the tuna poki. It is made with large chucks of red tuna meat bathed in a mild garlic sauce and surrounded by a ring of very thinly sliced avocado. I do not believe it is on the menu but you can ask for it and they will make it. It's not cheap ($14) but it is very worth it. If you are dining in for a nice meal I would suggest you ask for "Mas" who is the owner and tell him you want an "omikase" which is essentially chef's choice. He will ask what type of things you like and don't like and how many courses you are looking for. I would normally not do this in a typical local sushi restaurant but here it is worth it to let the chef create the best dishes with what's freshest. Enjoy. read more

After over 1 year of eating here and ordering take out which they often get wrong I will never go back again. On this occasion they forgot to give me the second back of food. After arriving back home I discovered that several items were missing so I called and they said there was a second bag and asked if I could come to get it. It's 7 miles round trip from my house. My daughter went since it was her food they forgot. She asked for a refund on that part of the order and they told her if she wanted a refund to bring back all of the food. The guy helping her was not conciliatory for their mistake but rude. She called me and said they were giving her a hard time so I called the restaurant and asked what was going on? I was told they had a policy about refunds.. I asked him why he was treating us so poorly when it was their mistake? He called me crazy and hung up the phone on me in front of my daughter. I jumped in my car and drove their to talk to them. They denied it all even though I had a witness...lol. Then the guy just walked away while I was talking. I won't miss this place. read more

Poorly organized and can be rude. If you order carry out, they may or may not record your order and have it ready. They will tell you 30 minutes or more to pick up and then act like it is your fault when they can not find your order. This place is busy and things obviously fall through the cracks. I've had sushi Chinese food Japanese food and Thai food from here. The food was good. The only thing I thought that could have used some improvement on was their Thai soup and Thai entrees. I absolutely despise this place now. I had placed a to go order and tried something new. It wAs horrible. I asked to change it out. And they did so that was fine. However in doing so the waiter treated me horrible and made me wait to do by taking other orders and calls. I finally got my order exchanged and left. I called to talk to the owner/manager who actually works inside. I wanted to explain to him about my waiter and the way he made me feel. Keep in kind we eat here weekly and I have a lot of clients and family whom eat here. He began yelling at me and called me a Bit** not once but twice. It ended in a very ugly way and I hung up. I have never been treated so terribly by the staff and especially the manager. I do not recommend this place. The food is good but it's Asian food. Like many here, I used to frequent this establishment a great deal (both lunch and dinner), but a significant degradation in service, food quality and even basic courtesy means that the last time I ate there was the LAST time. A polite comment about inconsistencies in service and quality was met by the so-called manager with insults and a demand to know where I worked... bizarre.
