Finally thought we found a good Asian restaurant. Well not. *didn't like hot tea in mug size cups *wonton noodle soup was tough. Have never had to use a fork to cut up a wonton noodle. *my food was cold, plus instead of General Tso's chicken they brought me Orange chicken. *my husband ordered "Happy Family". Went here for dinner at the recommendation of my parents' neighbors. We had been looking for a really solid Asian option in the area and this definitely fit the bill. It was a chilly evening and the space was warm and welcoming. We each started with egg drop soup, which was warm and filling. Very well done and served with crispy noodles as a topping. For my main course, I went for the Sesame Chicken, which was extremely well prepared and artfully presented. There was an abundance of chicken, which enabled me to take half of it home for a second meal the next day, which was equally as good then. We all enjoyed our meals and the menu has a nice variety that there were other items I would try if I visit in the future. The neighbors who recommended this to us usually do takeout and say it's very good - just plan to wait a few minutes as they prepare everything to order, so it's super fresh and worth the wait. read more

Since moving to the area we have been trying assorted places for Chinese food and today we found the best we have had, so far. It being New Year's Day the place was very quiet in the early afternoon and we were seated promptly. The bistro is well appointed and lends an atmosphere of relaxation. At our table the four of us ordered Beef & Broccoli, Beef Lo Mein, Mongolian Chicken and Mongolian Beef with fried rice instead of white. When served, the portions appeared to be quite generous with a good helping of rice on the side. The Mongolian Beef was some of the best I have ever had, with a sweet, spicy sauce, lots of onions (and green onion pieces) and just the right amount of 'heat!' Likewise, the Mongolian Chicken was very flavorful and had a generous helping of chicken. The Lo Mein was pronounced to be 'very good', however there was a bit of disappointment in the Beef & Broccoli as it had been ordered to be on the spicy side. While I was told it was very flavorful, there was no hint of additional 'heat' from spices. Overall . . . I am now thankful we don't have to drive into 'the city' to find good Chinese food as the Pacific Asian Bistro is our new 'go-to' spot. read more

I love sushi and decided to check out this place after reading the reviews and checking out their menu online. The drive is a bit far from Jax but well worth it! The menu (minus the Chinese food) reminded me of Botan, a sushi place on the Southside which I loved and unfortunately closed....turns out it's the same owner as Pacific. Yay what luck! The rolls were delish and creative and our waiter was attentive. I loved the Rock and roll, very light and refreshing with fish wrapped in cucumber wrapper, and the Palencia roll, a combo of shrimp, cream cheese and some other yummy goodness. Excellent sushi! They are great at what they do! Both times i have gone ive only got the hot and sour soup and sushi. And they have a gigantic selection of different rolls they must have over 30 different kinds! But they also have your nornal chinese food selections as well, fried rice teriyaki all that but they definately specialize in their sushi read more

i went in because my friend recommend me this place and off the bay the wait staff was rude. i ordered my sushi and i came out warm. like rice falling off the roll. the food was okay. but when i got home around 30 mins later i was extremely ill and felt terrible for the rest of the day. the waitstaff wasn't kind i had to ask for my check after sitting done for 10 mins while being the only person in the restaurant. my sister later told me this place also made her violently ill. Nothing irks me more than driving 39 miles each way and then get home to find out they gave me the wrong order. Called them back and told them, and now they don't speak English. I had dinner at Pacific Asian Bistro last night with four other people.I experienced several problems. One person in our party ordered a curry dish emphatically requesting "no mushrooms". The chef prepared it with mushrooms. I ordered a drunken noodles with shrimp. It was delivered with no shrimp. Although I mentioned this to the waitress mid-meal, she did not deliver shrimp nor did she make any any price adjustment in our bill for the shrimp not delivered. Further, the servers are not properly trained. For example, our server repeatedly reached across the face of my wife to remove items from me, rather than walking behind me to remove. She almost bumped my wife with a plate. It was uncomfortable. I know this is not a "fine dining " restaurant, but a bit more training would go a long way. As for the food itself, overall pretty tasty. I would have given the place 3.5 stars if not for the above comments. read more

Three of us went to dinner this evening. Bad service. Inattentive wait staff. Waitress told me a certain dish was curry but it was chicken covered in peanut butter. 2 meals came at one time while the third one came when we were almost done eating. The owner was cleaning the ceiling vents over the food while people were eating and over the raw sushi. Used to eat there almost one time per week. Not anymore. read more

We have visited several Asian restaurants in the area and pacific Asian bistro is now by far our favorite. The menu has variety, the service is awesome. Seating is limited so go early if possible. We ordered hot and sour soup ( the best I've had so far) and wonton soup. The Mongolian beef and the House lo mein were also tasty. We could have kicked ourselves for not ordering sushi but that gives us an excuse to go back soon. Takeout is also available. read more

Never eat at Pacific Asian Bistro in St. Augustine (Palencia) We will never order from this restaurant again.  We ordered food last night and were told 45 minutes which was fine.  We then waited another hour because they gave our food to someone else.  But for almost an hour they continued to tell us 5 more minutes.  There first suggestion was that they people that took are food were bringing it back and we would take that which we refused as that is incredibly unsanitary.  The owner then yelled at the hostess for giving us free sodas.  We told the hostess that we should get a discount after waiting another hour and the owner came over to us and told us we were not upset and laughed about it.  To top it off, some friend of the owner's who was dining at the restaurant at least 4 times walked back in to the kitchen to refill his drink and was not wearing a mask or practicing any signs of being sanitary.  Disgusting.  And we have reported this to the department of Health in St. Johns County. read more

I have been a loyal customer since Pacific Bistro opened, but the service has seriously declined & I must give them a lower rating. They desperately need another sushi chef to keep up with demand, but refuse to hire. The result is painfully slow service. Be prepared to wait for an hour+ to receive even 1 roll. There is no apology either. They just expect everyone to wait. Yes, the sushi is good, but no it's not worth the wait. When you order takeout, you're always told 20-25 min, but you arrive & wait for an hour or more. It's even worse if you dine in the restaurant. They continue with subpar service because there is little competition in the area. Don't waste your time driving up for the insane wait. Seriously, Pacific, hire another chef! It's ridiculous! Until you do so, I will let everyone know how awful the service is. read more

My third trip here, and I will say that the sea bass sashimi, which came in a suspicious coating of tobiko, gave me stomach pains all night. Wouldn't have been as bad had not "Mas" and the rest of the staff totally mailed it in while I was there; he actually took off to go out for the night before closing, giving us little recourse but to eat what we had ordered (note: always trust that little voice as it pertains to raw foods). read more

My only complaint is that two tables got their food before we did even when we ordered small sushi plates. Other than that the sushi was great and fresh! The restaurant was nice- no views but the atmosphere was cool. They have a sushi bar which I would probably sit at next time! I had heard many different reviews of Pacific Asian Bistro, from both my friends and here on Yelp. I was skeptical about getting great sushi in St. Augustine, but after hearing my friend rave about it and wanting to meet for lunch, I figured it was time to stop in. First thing I noticed- how cool the place looks. Stepping in, there's not a LOT of tables, but enough for the crowd that seems to frequent the place. Also noticed a few chairs at the sushi bar, as well as tables outside on a patio. The asian decor was impressive, not cheesy, and I was very happy to see the flatscreen TV's tuned to ESPN. The wait staff was very friendly and courteous, and knew their stuff. We stopped in for lunch- and the first thing I noticed was their special. Two rolls and a bowl of soup for only 8 bucks. Something about that tells me the sushi is not that fresh and not very good. Boy, was I wrong about that! I ordered my always favorite spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll along with the miso soup. The miso soup was good, fresh, and set me up nicely for the awesome meal I was about to devour! The rolls were great, very fresh, and very, VERY tasty. I thought about ordering another special when I was done to enjoy more, but I ended up ordering a few orders of my all time favorite sushi, Yellowtail. It was spectacular! The sushi was very fresh, sliced just right, and served on a cool looking plate with wasabi and soy sauce. Could be some of the best sushi I've ever eaten, EVER! Overall, I'm absolutely impressed and can't wait to go back, which I will many, many times. Service was great- fast and correct on all the orders. Food was amazing- fresh, delicious, and filling. The deals are amazing- the lunch special was unbelievably cheap for the food you get, and there are also deals throughout the week on rolls, sushi, sake, and beer. Not into sushi? They also offer up different types of asian cuisine, including your standard Chinese fare. Had a nice dinner at Pacific Asian Bistro last night. My wife enjoyed a few different Sushi rolls. And I orders a Panang Curry dish. My dish was large, hot, and very good. About $12 bucks for an entree. There is a good selection of different Asian style dishes on the menu... Chinese, Japanese, and Thai. The sushi selection looks great as well. Service was wonderful, and its in a cute little strip shopping center near Palencia. Looking forward to coming back and sapling some other dishes. read more

Since moving to Jacksonville from CA, I've had a hard time finding decent sushi. Even some of the places that are rated fairly high on Yelp haven't been that great in my opinion. Pacific Asian Bistro has the best sushi I've had so far in the Jax area. Pros: -They use real crab meat (not crab stick or krab) -They have a large selection of standard and special rolls -Although they are in a strip mall, the atmosphere inside is quite nice. Still casual but nice. -Servers and sushi chef very friendly and attentive Cons: -If you are coming from Jacksonville, it is a good 30-45 minute drive (if you are in St. Augustine, this place isn't near the scenic downtown area so it would still be a 5 or 6 mile drive north, and there is nothing around it worth seeing) -One too many rolls have tempura something in it, which isn't what I want when I go out for sushi Bottom Line-if you want to do a day trip out of Jacksonville or even just an evening in St. Augustine, I'd say this place is worth the trip and I'd definitely go again when I'm heading down to that area. read more
