I love Pacific Asian and can't believe I haven't written a review yet. My first visit I sat at the sushi bar being a solo that day but ended up ordering Kung Pao Chicken with no peanuts. It came out and holly Kung Pao it was huge with a bowl of rice too. Unfortunately the flavor just wasn't there. I want it to hit me with flavor and spice but this one was lacking both. I've not ordered it since then. However, I've gone back numerous times for the sushi which is delicious! The most recent visit I ordered Chicken with Broccoli no rice (they still brought out the rice) and my daughter ordered Chicken fried rice. We both really liked the dishes. I will most likely stick with sushi though b/c the portions are just huge and I honestly prefer the sushi over anything else I've had there. read more

After eating here for many many years since we moved out here which is been 11 years to be exact we got sick after eating here mind you we spent $180 that evening on take out and everyone got sick and had stomach issues and we only purchased two dishes and an appetizer that were cooked. I would not bother to call because the manager/owner refers to himself as a chef is very rude and actually nasty and that is just when you're asking him a simple question and the only reason we eat there is because we like the food but we have not been back since and we used to go quite often. At least every two weeks.I have noticed that the customer service has gone downhill, prices have gone drastically up and portions have gone down. We used to spend a ton of money in takeout here but have not been there in a long time due to the family getting ill after eating and being afraid to chance it again not to mention we realized if we don't feel comfortable calling after getting sick because we know the owner will be nasty then we shouldn't be giving them so much money on so few meals and appetizers. We used to do it because it was quality but when you get sick it's not quality anymore. This used to be an excellent restaurant. I was so happy to have it in our neighborhood, but lately every meal we have had there has been a disappointment. Last night we had a chicken egg roll, not great, the tempura calamari, pretty much yuck, billed as tempura but was breaded, seafood vegetable delight, krab sticks fake of course but not good, lobster tough and inedible, and shrimp panang curry, reliable and good. But after multiple experiences with the wait staff not knowing what nigiri sushi is or the difference between unfiltered and filtered sake or what is gluten free, I have to give them a 2 star review. -Not to mention their selection of sushi is not plentiful. We have been coming here for years for lunch and usually had a great experience. Today was not so great, the nigiri fish was fatty and chewy. Honesty the owner wasn't there and I think the sushi chef just took shortcuts when it came to quality. a buddy and I came down to St. Augustine for a golf weekend and we were looking for a decent sushi place. Luckily we found this place! It was really very good. Service was excellent. Our waiter was hilarious, and quick with the food and anything else we needed. Our nigiri sushi was Delicious. The yellowtail was especially good for two reasons: 1.) it was just good, quality, fresh fish, 2.) they put VERY thin strips of chives on top, and the two flavors together were out of this world. Their special rolls were a different story. We had three: salmon salmon, the green river roll, and the Kamikaze roll. The kamikaze roll was delicious (eel roll topped with spicy tuna). The green river roll was odd to me, but if you like rolls with a creamy (mayo-ey) sauce, then you might like it. The salmon salmon roll was actually offensive to my mouth. it was a salmon role with spicy salmon on top (totally great so far!) but it's in a plate filled with this garlic soy sauce. So I was looking for a good place to get some Japanese grub. Found this place and they didn't have hibachi which is okay. So I ordered teriyaki bento boxes for lunch. Total was over 25$. Okay not terrible but not cheap either. But the kicker is when we ask for sauce they charge .50 a piece. I know prices have gone up but come on. It should be already included in that price or if I was asking for more than a couple. It they made up for all of it with their food. It is amazing! I was visiting in this area today so we stopped here for lunch. Small room, nicely appointed in minimalist decor. Table seating with waitstaff service. I took a peek at the sushi before I sat down, to see how it looked. Sushi bar very clean and orderly and the fish appeared to be fresh and firm. They offered us a lunch menu as well as their full dinner and special items. Lunch was as expected a few Bento Box offerings, teriyaki, the usual rolls and soup, won ton, miso or hot and sour. I was going for the specials I chose the Miso and the fire belle roll my companion the pacific roll. I was not a fan of the miso, it did not taste like any I have tasted in the past so that was sent away. I had a better outcome with the fire bell roll. First the presentation, it was spot on, simple and elegant at the same time. I just wanted to gaze at it sitting there on the table Yellowtail, spicy tuna, cucumbers. I was correct about the fish. Sweet firm to the bite with just enough spice in tuna lets the flavor roll through the mouth. The other roll was even more stunning in presentation. Nested in a bowl like plate the tuna based roll was dressed with a nest of fried onions topped of with flying fish eggs. You know those little red orbs that pop in your mouth. I wanted this for myself. Before we left I made a quick trip into the loo in order to wash my hands. It was like going into a small Zen room. I just stood there to take it all in. Crazy no? Service is good the only down side, only one sushi chef was working on what turned into a very busy lunch. We had time to kill so no issue there, but if you have a time constraints there may be an issue. read more

I have mixed reviews about this place. They offer a mixture of sushi (and other Japanese dishes), Chinese and Thai options. I think that they do a better job with their sushi, because to me, the Chinese and Thai dishes are just average. Service can also be hit or miss. The night we were here we had out-of-town guests with us, and I was disappointed that they don't offer a sushi boat (or something like it) that has a mix of sashimi/nigiri/rolls, so all our sushi had to be ordered individually. The spicy tuna was seasoned very well and had the right amount of heat. The salmon skin roll had a good flavor, but for my taste, it had too much sauce on it that made it a little soggy. On the whole, all of our rolls were not wrapped nor sealed very tightly, so the rolls would either split open, or the insides would fall out of the seaweed wrap. The fact that this place is one of the few restaurants close to where we live is a definite plus, but we've ordered take-out from here in the past and I remembered having a surcharge for carryout orders (which should have been mentioned ahead of time, out of courtesy). This isn't our go-to place to dine, but it will certainly do for convenience. read more
