I was so impressed by the nuts & bolts customer service! The section is vast - walls and walls of drawers. You can buy only what you need instead of buying a whole pack. A very kind employee helped fit our toddler bike for a replacement nut. Several were the right size but didn't screw on quite right--something I would have never known buying a pack somewhere like HD. The employee helped me find the right fit and put it nice and tight on the bike for us. Thank you!! There is a free 30 minute spot out front that has been open every time I've come. read more

Although I am not a huge fan of the owner. I am a huge fan of this Ace Hardware. Not only are the gentlemen hard working, dashing and knowledgeable, but they will spend their time making sure you understand the process of what you're doing. I would like to send a shout out to Kevin for helping me resurface my bathroom. He spent a good amount of time with me and made me feel comfortable that I could do this on my own. I am proud of myself and grateful for him! The only reason I gave this place four stars is because the owner would not price match me on a purchase that I would make on a monthly basis. Very helpful people, just like their ad says. They have a lot of stuff for quick fixes, but you may be limited in your options just because the size of their place is small. It's surprisingly bigger than it looks though, and they will help you find what you need. It may cost a bit more than the big box stores, but the convenience of having a friendly, helpful hardware store in the neighborhood is worth the minor price difference, especially when it means saving time and supporting a local business. read more

I love this place. I'm used to being treated like dirt at a certain big box store so was surprised at how helpful they are here. They actually tell you what you need and where it is. Friendly and kind. The guy at the key area actually told me to finish my shopping and he brought my keys to me looking at another aisle. Had the most pleasant interaction with Glen from Ace Hardware this morning. As a part time handyman I had a whole heap of questions and having not been to this particular Ace since I lived in the PB area nearly 10 years ago I didn't know where anything was either. Not only did Glen take the time to listen to me explain everything I needed but he find me some better options and helped me find everything even helping two other more customers with their needs in the process. Had I gone to Home Depot I'd be searching for an employee who hates their job to help me for 30 minutes. Glen was knowledgeable and a hard worker for sure but after talking with him I learned he is a good human as well. I was in and out in a matter of five minutes and the guys knew exactly what I needed. I had to cut a hole in a big plastic bin to hide my cats litter box from any moisture outside. The gentleman who helped me suggested hooked razors. I never would have guessed these were so freaking strong! They slipped around the bin like butter! And under $4 for 5 of them? I wish the store had better communications with their HQ/shipping people, but I called in almost daily to check on the status of my Christmas tree stand and every person who talked to me was super nice and helpful! When I went in-store to pick it up, they even offered to help me get it in my car. Awesome customer service! And they have a different selection of keys than Home Depot if you're looking for that too... I ended up getting a couple extra made even though I wasn't planning to! read more

Got glass cut here for my window slats and a window to be replaced and the staff was very helpful. The glass cuter is on point and my slats fit perfectly and at a very decent price. I went to the turquoise location first and they were unable to help me with what I needed with my home repairs, grand ave can cut glass. Go to ace on grand and see the glass cutting wizards of pacific beach. Also got hooked up with a Vornado heater. Would recommend! read more

Best Hardware place in town! Staff never disappoints, always honest and very helpful!

So disappointing to see Ace take advantage of its patrons vulnerability during a pandemic charging $13 for a package of wipes. I'm not going to be shopping there anymore. I expect a higher price at Ace but that is gouging. Additionally, I purchased a n95 mask there and they had a very unsanitary procedure having everyone shove their hand in the same bag to get their mask :( Shame! read more

This store is beautifully stocked.. we can always find great stuff.. I actually purchased Ace brand of Rustolium and love it.. I will definitely purchase their brand again..the employees leave a lot to be desired.. one very friendly employee and helpful, an older black man, went out of his way to assist us.. we counted a total of four other workers..the cashier actually took a phone call while ringing us up, walked away without a word and came back about two minutes later to answer questions on the phone. Hello, we have come through the door wanted to give you our money in exchange for goods.. and you ignore us to speak to someone who might never come there to do business with you! We were never acknowledged, greeted or thanked..we actually live closer to the Ace on Turquoise but refuse to go there because of the employees.. never a greeting, smile or thank you, just deadpan .. I wonder if the owners of the one on Turquoise purchased the Ace on Grand Ave??? We are a small community and customer service means a lot .. Great Store.. so so employees read more

I usually love Ace Hardware stores and find it to be 'The helpful place... but sadly not today. I did find 50% of what I needed even though this was a small store. Hence the two stars. What really put a damper on things was at the cashier. I told her that I had a number for the ace rewards program and after looking at me for a solid two minutes she said, 'we don't do that here.' I tried to make friendly conversation and ask why but she wouldn't have it. So long story short: they opted not to do the ACE rewards program here and the customer service is a bit awkward to say the least. read more

Absolutely Ace is the place! They have such a great selection of random things that if you need it and you don't know where to get it this is the place! It's a small store but well planned out so that it fits a lot of items! Don't forget to go out back they even have a garden section up the stairs. Plenty of staff available to help! This location does not swap out soda stream co2 canisters like other Ace locations and they are quite rude about it. It is a really silly move on their part because not only does it bring me into their store every other week, but it also leads me to buy other items. Instead of that, now, I am going out of my way to avoid this store. They were extremely rude to my wife. I am looking forward to shopping elsewhere. read more
