I fell in love with this restaurant in SF years ago, so you can imagine my absolute thrill when they finally opened a location here! We've already been twice, and they have completely knocked it out of the park both times. The vibe is immaculate--the decor is gorgeous and has a coastal, beachy feel that makes you feel like you've been transported straight to Monterey. Plus, their patio is absolute perfection for dog owners, complete with a dedicated "dog menu" for your fur baby! The food is phenomenal, but the service is truly next-level. On our first visit, we were blessed with Serenity as our server. She is the absolute sweetest and radiates so much passion for the brand's sustainability efforts. As a conscious consumer, it was incredibly refreshing to get that insider perspective. Knowing how environmentally friendly they aim to be, and how wonderfully they treat their staff, gives us all the more incentive to become regulars. For our second visit, the wonderful Gregory took care of us. He is simply the best and ensures you want for nothing! Now, let's talk about the food. Both times, we ordered a trio of dishes: - The Calamari: Hands down, the best calamari you will ever have. The light breading is perfection, and the fried lemon slices elevate it to another level (though we only got one lemon slice on our second visit--more consistency there would be amazing because they are addictive!). - The Guaca Poke: Incredibly fresh flavor! Our only critique is that both times we noticed a few stringy pieces of tuna, and the chips felt a bit like they were verging on stale rather than freshly made. Still delicious, but has room to perfect. - The Summer Sea Bass: Absolutely ZERO notes. We love every single inch of this dish. We went to see the new updates at the Brea Mall and found this place right outside with a decent happy hour menu. The location is nice and we sat in their patio which wasn't too crowded. We got a cider for $6, the Brussels sprouts, poke, and both tacos. All of the food was good and I would say the standout was the poke. The prices aren't as cheap as going to Lazy Dog or someplace like that, but it wasn't bad and for what we ordered, I thought it was reasonable but we did only order from the happy hour menu. Newly opened and all I can say is yum! I've tried the Tustin location and wasn't impressed, however this Brea location is fantastic! Greeters and servers were all fabulous, everyone we interacted with provided great customer service. Our server Alexis was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the original ahi poke which was absolutely delicious, and a huge portion, I couldn't finish my bowl. Inside and on the patio the decor is very nice yet casual, giving tropical vibes. They have happy hour on the weekends from 3-5 which is pretty cool, and would probably come back for it next time, we skipped it today as we weren't really wanting to drink anything. Parking is easiest at the structure nearby, although be forewarned, it's very crowded, even at 3 pm or so we had to circle around a bit. There is also paid valet service. read more

Sometimes it's hard to find a decent lobster roll in these parts. Whether it's the lack of access of to decent lobster, a lack of desire to pack the lobster roll with its namesake, or charging close to the $40 mark for the sandwich--a quality lobster roll at a reasonable price is an elusive unicorn. Pacific Catch's $33 example is one that, while on the more expensive side, turned out to be quite ample and quite delicious. I wasn't complaining there wasn't enough lobster in it and I wasn't complaining the lobster seemed skunky or without taste. If anything, the price point might be too high for what you get, but not more than $3 or $4, which is fine. The fries were good as was as the slaw, but obviously the star of the show. I also had a chance to sample some of the fried fish and calamari from the mixed plate one of the other members of our party had. Those turned out really well too. I was surprised how much you get in the mixed plate and may try it next time. The service was good for the most part. They took a bit to notice I needed a refill and I was forced to flag someone down to take care of the issue. I also was left longer than I'd like waiting for a table when I had a reservation acknowledged in the system. There wasn't anything egregious about the customer service, but it wasn't 100% perfect either. The ambience was cool. I'm not a huge fan of outdoor seating. Usually the bugs and sunlight are enough to ruin a meal. But they had in place a lot of glass walls and sun shades to keep away most of those things. The seats they had outside were comfortable and the tables had a lot of space to seat our party of 3 without any squishing. I also enjoyed the vibe. As my friend Carly said, it reminds one a lot of Miami restaurant by the water. I thought it also had a lot of a tiki aesthetic. All of those are good things. Unprofessional and Hazardous Dining Experience - Disregarding Child & Food Safety We dined here today and were seated at a table right next to the front reception/host stand, with my children sitting on the inside. Throughout our entire meal, the hosting staff continuously and aggressively sprayed alcohol/sanitizer right in our direction to clean menus and the counter. There was absolutely no barrier or shield between the host stand and our dining table. The chemical mist was constantly drifting directly over our food and toward my family. This is incredibly unprofessional and a serious health hazard. Spraying airborne chemicals so close to active dining tables--especially with young toddlers present--shows a complete lack of basic food safety protocols and common sense. We left feeling incredibly anxious about whether our food had been contaminated. Management desperately needs to retrain their staff on how and where to properly sanitize items away from customers. read more

I've been to multiple pacific catch locations - and they usually don't disappoint. From service, to food quality, and even though PC is on the pricier side, they usually give you a good amount of food in return - they usually don't disappoint. This location - super disappointed and will not be returning. To be fair, the staff were all super nice. The bad experience came in as follows: 1. The prices here are $3-$4 dollars more per item than all other locations I've been to. 2. That's fine, we ordered anyways and did not say anything. I ordered the mix catch - one of my favorite things here - what I got was a joke. A tray composed mostly of fries and some calamari, a tiny crab cake, and the smallest pieces of fish I've ever seen with fish n chips (one biters). I proceeded to consume the food but could not help but feel had. For $27, I got mostly fries, a handful of calamari, a tine crake, and two bite sized pieces of breaded fish. I walked out feeling really bad about the whole thing. Not only are their prices higher than other pacific catch locations, the amount of food they give you is funny for the price (little value) when other locations are so generous. Pacific Catch is a refreshing dining and gathering experience! Staff was very friendly and attentive! The Happy Hour menu was a culinary preview of the main menu. I had the Guaca-Poke, spicy Tuna rolls and Baja fish taco serve with blue tortillas chips along with a Modelo Especial. The bar area was very comfortable and pleasing to the senses. Derick the general manager came over to my friend and i and asked how we were doing and offered us a complimentary dessert to share (my friend chosen the delicious pineapple butter cake and vanilla gelato). I really wanted to like this place as I had the Tustin location bookmarked for some time. The interior aesthetic definitely felt welcoming and clean , like all most new restaurants. It seemed very promising for the food to have the same quality as the restaurant itself. However, It was a bit disappointing when the menu was not the same as the other locations. There was quite a huge difference and came as a surprise on the menu change. With that we rolled with it and ordered what seemed fitting for our appetite. Portions are definitely small for the price point and the fries seemed just like mc Donald's fries to be honest. You'll be paying premium price for it. The small plates were mediocre at best with maybe some good sauces. Service was great and attentive with zero complaints there. It would have been a total bust and probably not return if our server wasn't so awesome. At the end of the day I may still give it another go and try some of the mains another time. read more

We visited Pacific Catch in Brea on a Friday night a little over a week ago to celebrate a birthday, and the entire experience exceeded expectations. We had reservations for a party of five and were seated promptly upon arrival. Our server was outstanding from the start. He immediately brought waters, offered thoughtful drink recommendations, and checked back at just the right times throughout the evening. I ordered the caramelized piña colada, and it was unlike any I've had before -- absolutely delicious and unique. While deciding on entrées, we ordered the edamame and guacamole with chips. Everything came out with impeccable timing. Our server was knowledgeable, offered excellent menu suggestions, checked on us periodically, and never once made us feel rushed. Based on his recommendation, I ordered the Barramundi sea bass with Thai Brussels sprouts and Okinawan purple sweet potato. It was incredible. My husband had the Alaskan cod fish and chips with sweet potato fries and said it was the best fish and chips he has ever had -- the cod was perfectly flaky. Others in our group ordered the taco trio and took our server's advice to try three different varieties. They said every single one was equally delicious. Another person ordered the salmon and loved it as well. Even though we were completely full, our server described the dessert options so well that we couldn't resist ordering one to take home. It was unique and absolutely worth it. The general manager, Bill, greeted us shortly after seating and checked in throughout the evening, not only with us but with multiple tables, making sure everything was perfect. That level of attentiveness stood out. The restaurant itself is beautiful -- new, spotless, and thoughtfully decorated. It's honestly impressive how smoothly everything operated considering they recently opened. We left saying how nice it is to have such a fantastic restaurant so close to home. Hands down one of the best mai tai's I've ever had and the steak tacos were delicious. I gave Pacific Catch a raving 1st review, but now I'm having second thoughts. I have made two reservations for dinner on two seperate dates and they were both cancelled. I tried to walk up to the restaurant and said I would wait for an open table and they refused, even though there were several open tables. I know they don't want to over work their staff, but to call me and cancel two of my reservations....hummmmm. I think this is a management issue and not an employee/server issue. Been to the one in San Diego and Tustin. The one at Brea just opened. They have the best outdoor patio. You don't feel like your in Orange County. You feel like your at a tropical location. The food is always good here. Happy hour 7 days a week. The manager Bill stopped by and asked about our experience. I truly felt like they appreciated that we chose to dine with them. Food was good, but not great. She had the fish and chips, I had the lobster roll. It was a smaller portion than I expected for the price and they hadn't split the roll all the way through, so the portion of lobster sat mostly on top. A few pieces of the lobster were a little tough, but acceptable overall. Certainly not the best I've had, which was from a food truck, by the way. Fountain drinks were weak on carbonation. No salt & pepper on the table and when asked for, they brought small bowls; flaky sea salt isn't the best for French fries. We sat outside and in spite of many other couples at 4 top booths, and many empty booths, we were given a 2 top table. The booths all had overhead heaters and we didn't, which made things chilly when the wind picked up. They could really use some way to keep the wind from blowing through the west side patio, as it usually does in the evenings. Server was overly friendly and wanted to chat more than was comfortable. One mixed and one fountain drink seemed to take a while and when the drink arrived, they had to go back for the fountain drink.
