Been meaning to try the one in Costa Mesa but was nearby so tried this location instead. Just keep in mind the one here has a significantly smaller menu and does not do the $10 special everyone is talking about! Tried the Wagyu pastrami sandwich on recommendation from the worker there, and it definitely did not disappoint. The flavors were so well balanced and there was a lot of pastrami on it--it is not the type of pastrami that gets really oily and is cut into smaller strips; it's more of a deli meat pastrami type. Honestly, I couldn't tell it was anything special from being Wagyu, but everything else on the sandwich and the crunch rye bread was very much perfect. The balance of flavors was great. The only thing that might take you aback is the price--$22; it does come with a can of soda and chips, but it's not like the sandwich was incredibly huge. That being said, the sandwich alone made me pretty full! For a sandwich arranged at essentially a deli counter, it tasted much more gourmet than that. I picked up a couple Wagyu burger patties as well to cook another time, we'll see how those turn out. But overall, the food here definitely made me want to try the Costa Mesa location! If price is not too big of a deal to you then definitely stop by. If you like pastrami sandwiches you'll like this place. The prices on the raw Wagyu meat, like others have said, aren't super cheap, but it's convenient that it's here. Inside has a nice deli vibe to it, just keep in mind there's only a few outside small tables there, so if it's busy you might not be able to sit. Finally had the chance to try this place out after seeing videos of their burgers in the Costa Mesa location. The Brea location is a small cozy deli like spot selling expensive cuts of Wagyu and premium marinated meats. This location did not offer the burgers but had the entire sandwich menu. With the help of the friendly staff members I ordered: the Smoked and Wagyu Pastrami Sandwiches and the Hot and Cold Trio Wagucci Submarine. Each of these sandwiches were expertly constructed in front of you and served with a complementary side of chip and soda. You can tell that these people put their time and attention into making these. When I say these are some of the best sandwiches I ever had, I mean it whole heartedly. I highly recommend getting the Wagyu pastrami smoked or by itself on a marble rye bread over the Trio hot / cold subs on a roll. This place is a wagyu lover's dream. They sell Wagyu by the pound! The atmosphere is fun, where the employees sing and dance, and you can tell they love their job. This place confuses me. Carniceria is in their name but, tortas (sandwiches) seem to be what most of the reviews are about. In my younger days, I definitely would've gotten tortas from this place. Now that I am older, I try to order whats in their name. I've been here once to try their carne asada. They offer 2 kinds, a thinner sliced one, and a man sized thick one. Meats prices are okay here considering that they use better meats. Wagyu is in their name, but, that is not what they use. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask. Reluctantly I put in an order. Pay online. Go at the appointed time, one guy behind the counter. Busy, busy, busy. He's cooking, he's collecting payments, he's answering the phone. Inside, it feels like a mom/ pop, family owned/operated type spot. It's clean and the folks here are friendly and helpful. The place is not large, but it has lots of quality, high end meats and a great selection relative to the size. If you want wagyu tomahawks, sausages, and even high quality burgers, etc,, they have all that here. I can't remember when or why exactly it was on my list/radar, but I think it had to be because of the sandwiches. There was a week where I had to go back and forth from City of Industry and Anaheim, so I thought it was a perfect chance to check this place out. I ordered the smoked wagyu pastrami, which is served on a toasted marbled rye bread with swiss cheese, mayo, and some pepperoncini. Not cheap, but didn't feel super expensive when thinking about what you got. It also comes with chips and a drink. This was an excellent sandwich. Great flavors and textures. Nice crunch with each bite. I would just note, however, that the meat was sliced thin side and it was layered vs. the thicker cut Jewish style deli pastrami. Yesterday, we placed an order for pickup through Yelp, which forwarded the order to Grubhub. I received a confirmation that our order would be ready in about 15-20 minutes. When I arrived on time, the woman with glasses behind the counter by the front door informed me that they do not accept online orders. Confused, I asked why I was allowed to place an online order, and she became argumentative, stating that their iPads were not turned on. I suggested that they contact the online ordering platforms to have that feature disabled, but she insisted that I do it myself. When I reminded her that I am not the merchant, she dismissed me and offered no further assistance. We did receive a refund from Grubhub, but it was unfortunate that she seemed to take out her bad day on me. I was looking forward to trying this place, but if this is the level of service they provide, I will be looking elsewhere. The ambiance is setup very clearly from start to finish. I ordered the Roast and my boyfriend got the Prime. We enjoyed our freshly made sandwiches at the park down the street. Haven't tried the chips and salsa yet, but I will definitely be coming back here for the halal options, wagyu beef cuts, homemade salsa selection and macaroni salad or potato salad freshly made. Had seen this place pop up while driving by a while ago and was intrigued - a carniceria but wagyu?! How cool! We swung by to pick up some sandwiches to go and finally gave it a try. You walk in, place an order for what you want at the register and then you basically just wait around until they call you. It took about 15 minutes. Overall the sandwiches were quite large, I think that two people with a medium appetite could share one. Not only because of the size, but the sandwich is a sodium overload. The bread they have is very good, the only downside is that the sandwich is pretty soggy after driving home, and I live about 10 minutes away. I think it's best enjoyed right away! Also, you can ask to get one of the salads instead of a bag of chips. I think it compliments the sandwich more. Been wanting to try out La Carniceria Wagyu's for a while now and finally stopped by to pick up a few sandwiches for lunch. Each sandwich order comes with a canned soda and bag of chips. Prime Steak Sandwich ($18): Sliced balsamic prime steak with mixed greens, pepperoni mayo, provolone + swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and tomatoes on dutch crunch bread. Delicious but definitely must eat fairly quickly as the bread will get soggy and fall apart easily. Wagyu Pastrami Panini ($22): Wagyu pastrami with swiss cheese, and whole grain mayo on marble rye bread. A simple sandwich with a mouthful of flavor. The marble rye had too much of a herby taste for my preference but the meat was great. The ordering process was a bit confusing as a customer who was waiting let us know she ordered toward the back of the store but when we weren't helped yet, another customer told us they ordered by the front. We were ultimately helped by the meat counter by the owner himself, David. While waiting for our sandwiches, we overhead David mention to another customer about a sale they were having on wagyu tomahawk's (BMS 9) for $100 each instead of per pound. Intrigued, we pondered and decided to purchase a few along with the ribeye in the counter. Cooked the tomahawks the day after purchasing by reverse searing (as recommended by David) and they turned out amazing. Will definitely be on a lookout for another sale! I ordered the wagyu pastrami sandwich and the havana (their version of a Cubano) Every sandwich comes with a bag of chips and soda/water from their selection.
