We walked in during the last hour before close, which is usually risky at any restaurant. However, from the moment we sat down, the ambiance was warm with a family-type feel to it. Our server Brian was exceptional from the get-go. Attentive, personable, and genuinely accommodating. He's the kind of server that really enhances the whole dining experience. As for the food, we went with the sautéed mushrooms to start, which were buttery, satiating and just done right. Then, came the Shrimp Scampi & Scallops in pink sauce (which was highly recommended by Brian), and honestly, that dish alone is worth the drive to this establishment. The pink sauce had this beautiful balance between the creaminess and the tanginess of marinara, in addition to the shrimp and scallops that were cooked perfectly, without a rubbery texture. Please try the pink sauce. We also ordered the Veal Parmesan, which had a bit of the crispy ends (as the veal was very thin), but still had the factors of a well-cooked dish. Everything definitely tasted like it was made with care, not hastily (even though we got there pretty late). It is also located within a plaza, so parking is plentiful. This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The food is always good, and every person I've taken here has loved it. Fratellino's serves classic Italian food and does it beautifully. The servers are always warm and friendly. It tends to get busy around dinner, but they still have stellar service during busy rushes. The ambiance is very old school with dim lightning. If you are going to Fratellino's here is the best tip: you HAVE to get the complete dinner!!! You can make any entree a complete dinner for $3.95. You then get the entree plus a 4 oz glass of house wine, salad or a soup, garlic bread, and a scoop of ice cream at the end of the meal. I can never finish my entree by the time I've eaten everything else. Complete dinner aside, everything here is priced reasonably. I've gone to dinner with a group of 4 before and our bill is less than $100. Literally everything I've ordered here has been delicious but my favorite is the baked gnocchi. Fratellino's is a neighborhood gem in Brea that cooks up delicious and authentic Italian cuisines. Their weekday lunch special is indeed very special - it comes with a small glass of wine! It also comes with the best garlic bread in town. Just these are almost already worth the price tag, and you even get to choose an entrée. The shrimp scampi is certainly the star of the menu. The shrimps are rather large and tasted fresh. They are cooked in olive oil with plenty of herbs and a hint of white wine flavor. I also like the spaghetti with beef meatball - it's just one large meatball, just like they serve it in Italy. I like the texture as well as the taste. Marinara sauce is rich in tomato flavors. Both times I've had this dish, the pasta was perfectly al dente but too watery, with a pool of water on the plate. This was probably the only imperfection. For dessert, trust me, get the spumoni ice cream. It is a classic Italian ice cream made with a blend of chocolate, pistachio and cherry flavors that you don't find in too many places. Pizza was great for kiddos. Lots of flavor and tasteful. They loved it. Spaghetti and meatballs were generic for kiddos. Something you can easily make at home out of a jar. With the price of dining, I would come here with the kiddos as they just want to eat food at an Italian place. Family of 5 is a great deal. This place is excellent!! Our first experience with Fratellino's was at the one in Orange and the food was so good. We were in the area (Brea) and was looking for a spot to eat at and then remembered that Fratellino's had two locations. The Brea location is more of a sit down and the server comes and take your order as for the Orange location you order your food from the counter, get a number , find a table and they bring the food to your table. The service here was excellent and the inside really gives you the Italian ambiance with the decorations and paintings. The food was good as expected and didn't disappoint. We got the Calamari, it had great flavor and fried to perfection and it comes with marinara dipping sauce. The Chicken Alfredo was creamy and flavorful, the fettuccine noodle cooked perfect. This place uses quality ingredients and makes their dishes fresh. We will definitely be back again. Fratellino's is one of our new Italian restaurant. read more

We finally made to Fratellino's after reading so many great reviews and worries about the long lines outside waiting to eat here. Using the Yelp list was a great way to reduce our wait time, coupled with an early dining time of 1715. For some reason, I was not being tech savvy this evening trying to check in on the Yelp with list tablet by the entrance, but the staff manning the host/hostess counter were very helpful checking my family in. After being checked in, we waited for about 10 minutes before being called to our table. If one is waiting outside, the staff opens the door to call your name if there is no response from anyone sitting in the small seating area adjacent to the entry doors. After being seated, our server, Kayla arrived at our table to take our beverage order and to give us a chance to peruse the extensive menu of mouthwatering choices. Soon, our beverages and a plate of sliced carrots, a couple of pepperoncinis with some ranch-style dressing were placed on our table. It was a nice way to start our meal while still looking at the menu. * Our youngest son ordered the Gnocchi w/Alfredo Sauce. ($18.00 + $3.75 = $21.75) * My wife ordered her favorite entree (at any Italian restaurant): Eggplant Parmigiana that comes with a side of penne pasta ($19.00 + $3.75 = $22.75) * I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and Scallops ($21.00 + $3.75 = $24.75), opting for the "Italian" cooking style (Olive oil, butter, wine, lemon juice, "generous amount" of garlic, and spices) served over linguine. *All three of us opted to upgrade to the "Complete Dinner" ($3.75 each) option, which included a small garden salad or minestrone soup, ice cream, and, for those 21 and older, a small 4 oz. glass of house wine, your choice. *We also ordered a 16" Fratellino's Deluxe Pizza ($29.90) Soon, our two small salads and my minestrone soup arrived. Both salads were pedestrian house garden salads, with a really good Italian dressing. The only minor issue was that my wife had to pick out several pieces of lettuce that were semi-rotting with brown edges. Not worth asking for a new salad, but something you may want to watch out for. My soup was chock full of veggies as one would expect from a decent minestrone soup, and thankfully, the broth was not overly salty. Enjoyable but not the best I have ever had. Our entrees arrived. At first glance, I was really disappointed with the portion size for my Shrimp and Scallops w/Linguine, especially after reading the many reviews about how generous the portion size of Fratellino's entrees. My wife was also surprised at the underwhelming size of my entree. But both my wife's and son's entrees were of decent portions As for my entrée, it was okay. The shrimp they used was really mushy to the bite, and the baby scallops were okay as well. The "Italian "style of cooking that I chose was very tasty: I just wish my portion size, especially the amount of linguine, was more generous to sop up that delicious sauce. My wife enjoyed her baked Eggplant Parmigiana and was unable to finish her entree. Our youngest son wolfed down his Gnocchi with Alfredo sauce. He would have preferred it if they offered a marinara sauce instead of a pink sauce option, but maybe next time we'll ask for marinara and see what the upcharge will be. The Fratellino Deluxe pizza was tasty with a decent crust around the edge, covered generously with the topping that comes on the deluxe. I ate two pieces because my entree did not fill me up. We all like the pizza, but not sure we would order a pizza here again. Our 2-4 oz. House wines ( Chardonnay & Blush) were surprisingly decent for house wines. Our ice cream arrived as well as our bill: pre-tip, pre-tax sub-total was $110.40, which was reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. Fratellino's is a great family-friendly Italian restaurant that serves tasty, decent Italian food with really friendly, efficient staff. It reminded my wife and me of an SF Bay Area Italian restaurant: Banchero's, which has long since closed. Lastly, Fratellino's take-out menu pricing is a few dollars cheaper than if you dine in. If we lived closer, we would definitely be ordering takeout from here regularly. read more

Plenty of parking as usual and we joined the waitlist on yelp before arriving. We waited about 10 mins as they were busy around 7pm Friday night. They were friendly and helpful! We wanted something different this time so I ordered the manicotti with meat sauce and my bf ordered the baked gnocchi without changing anything. The manicotti was stuffed with ricotta cheese, topped with their amazing meat sauce and really gooey cheese. It was perfect! This was the first time my bf tried gnocchi and he loved it. The only thing he would change, is that he would add cheese. He was jealous of mine and I had to share. They have the option to add ricotta to any dish for $2 so we may do that next time. For dessert, I listened to myself (prev review) and went with the mini cannoli as my bf upgraded to the full meal with icecream. I love desserts and at first I regretted going small, but once I was done it was just the right size for me. Their black iced tea is pretty good. It is not machine one. Disappointed! I've got 20 "check ins" here so I certainly have a voice here. Been here more than that. Today our bill changed the tip suggestions from when we were presented the bill to when we paid the bill. Tip initially was based on the food which is correct. Once we got the final bill the tip suggestion included the tax price which is more. This is BS and misleading. I told the manager who was great and understanding. He said they would look into the issue with the POS system. Having said that the food was ok this time but the service from Marco was terrific as always. Of course we tipped him appropriately as this wasn't his fault. Meatball was good as well as the cheese ravioli with pink sauce. The lasagna combo was ok as I didn't like the jest slopped on my plate instead of a nice square cut. This was because I got a combo with fettuccine Alfredo. I've passed this restaurant many times in the 15 years I've lived in Brea. It was our first time dining here. It's very quaint and they do have an outdoor patio area. We went on a Wednesday night and it wasn't that busy. They had the Dodgers game on the tvs, not something you would expect at a nice Italian restaurant. It was obvious that the staff were watching the game. The hand painted Italian countryside murals are a nice touch. Their complimentary appetizer is carrots, pepperoncini peppers and ranch. Not a favorite for the table. Typically for most Italian restaurants, they give fresh bread with roasted garlic or olive oil. The Garlic Bread, which comes with certain meals, was tasty. We tried: (For all pasta, they were perfectly al dente) Alfredo with angel hair pasta, bacon, and chicken - very creamy. Bacon could have crispier. Angel Hair with creamy pesto and shrimp - not as creamy. Seemed more like pesto than creamy pesto. Needed more flavor. Chicken Parmigiana - the marinara sauce didn't have any hint of basil. Needed more flavor. Beef lasagna and Fettuccine Alfredo - lasagna wasn't in a typical square slice or even a rectangular slice, where you can see the layers. Seemed like a small portion. Clam Sauce Over Linguine - classic Italian restaurant dish. I like the chopped clams in this dish. I guess it's texture for me. It could have been a little bit more flavorful. Great Pizza, thick crust, thin crust. I can't say they've let me down once. Especially love the chicken tenders with marinara sauce.
