My favorite espresso in Truckee is from Whole Treat Bakery. They use Pacific Crest Coffee. I came to the shop and ordered an espresso and some dark roast beans. The espresso was extremely acidic and sour. I couldn't really drink it. I think it's under-extracted and the temp isn't hot enough. The shot is too voluminous and runny. I brought the beans home and put them through my OXO Rapid Brewer. The shot was lovely.. dark and classic and sweet. So my take is: buy the beans, pull them elsewhere. read more

3.5 stars for a solid cafe. This is located right off the freeway, outside of Truckee, it looks a bit industrial, but a great thing because parking is really easy. It's a tiny coffee shop, so there isn't much seating - more of a grab and go. They offer nitro cold brew, which I thought was really cool, but they are canned and not fresh on tap I don't believe. Ordered a cup of drip and cappuccino, and the cappuccino had a espresso that was blend of Costa Rican, Ethiopian, and Yemen. I could taste the fruitiness of the espresso, and it was bit acidic, but still tasted smooth. Tried both the Colombia and Kenya roast, and I found the Kenya to be my preference. The Colombia was a bit dark for my taste. There was still a bit of acidity in the Kenya, but it was quite good and light. The service was quick and friendly. The best coffee and the best beans I've ever had, period. They roast their own beans and the coffee master is from the Washington stare, so he knows a thing or two about good coffee. Best coffee in Truckee. Pacific Crest makes the best Americano in town and roasts the best beans that can be bought for your daily coffee at home too. Their Sumatra beans are probably my favorite, but all are very good. The citrus notes in the Kenyan beans are also very good. If that first sip of coffee every morning has to be amazing, get a cup at Pacific Crest and get a bag of beans to go for the days you can't make it out to the coffee shop. read more

I been living in Truckee for 4 years now and I'm happy to say that I finally found my coffee spot. I'm a huge fan of the basic Vanilla Latte but this one is magical. I can't explain why it taste so amazing but the blend of their coffee beans and oat milk meshes extremely well. I have to give a shout-out to Beau, who constantly makes my coffee with love, as you can see from the photo. The entire staff is super friendly and always wish you nothing but good vibes. Would not go here ever again. I try and support the other smaller coffee shops besides the giant but I will go there before here again. I wrote this on the square app so they could see it ....Vanilla latte was great but the small was practically a Dixie cup. Nitro cold brew was awful 3 people tried it. Customer service was non existent. The response I got from the store was I should tip better than 12% even if I get bad service. All I expect for customer service is a simple greeting or can I help you. I just got the person looking at me like are you going to order or what. This was there response...(I spoke with the girls that were working with me, and neither said that they recall seeing anyone giving the universal "I'd like to speak with someone look" that normally kicks our customer service team into gear. ) I am not a person that usually writes reviews or makes it public. That is why I responded on the square app because they asked for an opinion. I instead got a lecture on how to be a better customer, to tip better for terrible service, and wording like this ..If you insist on doing business with small service , I would suggest in the future--, all telling me how to be better consumer.
