Since I'm not normally a coffee drinker, the staff recommended a non-dairy matcha latte for me so that I could mask the caffeine flavors just a bit. My drink order came out within a few minutes and it really hit the spot on a chilly, autumn day. The lounging area inside was also spectacular. Loved the vibes and family-friendly activities like coloring sheets that the shop provided to entertain the kids.

Definitely a popular spot as every seat was filled when we arrived! Very limited food menu--they only offer two breakfast options. Breakfast burrito (rice, black beans, cheese, and chorizo) which can be ordered with or without chorizo but no other modifications since they're all pre made. Also had a breakfast sandwich option as well. I personally wasn't a fan of the breakfast burrito but my boyfriend really enjoyed his. The rice and beans were 90% of the burrito with very tiny bits of chorizo here and there so it just didn't feel like breakfast to me and I didn't finish mine. Everyone has different tastes though so if you enjoy bean and rice burritos I'm sure you would like this!

Having come here before, and enjoying my hot latte, I came in for another. I asked for a food recommendation and was not led astray with a delicious turkey croissant sandwich. Sandwich was handed over immediately and latte prepared shortly after, I took both outside and enjoyed at a table in the sun to warm up. What comes next is where small establishments such as this shine, I was then greeted by the owner, Werner, himself. He was very friendly and pleasant to converse with, I asked for another food recommendation after hearing that the majority of the eats are made in house. Werner recommended the "Linzer Tart". Never hearing of one before I was intrigued, I was in the opportune position to try one. And it did not disappoint! I will be back 100% - latte=must, Linzer Tart=must, and if I am lucky... to pick up my conversation with Werner.

The art on the walls is super immersive, it's one of those places where you actually want to sit and stay awhile. They've got tons of grab and go options, and even when it's busy (which it usually is), the staff moves like a well oiled machine. From the moment you walk in, you're hit with that fresh coffee aroma... immediate comfort. Every pastry looked insanely good, and tasted even better. The avocado toast with burrata? Executed perfectly. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Definitely would be in my regular rotation if I was a local.

I ordered a Dutch chocolate Mocha, a blueberry scone, and a cheddar/chive pastry; all were delicious and warmed up even without having to ask. They also had a full menu for breakfast options: breakfast sandwiches, pastries, cereal, bowls, bagels, etc. Right near Donner State Park, it is the perfect spot to walk on over to after going on the trail by the lake.

It's often empty, and yet there's no wifi.. which means it's a lot easier to head the other 10 cafes in town that don't introduce this friction. They microwave the baked goods without asking (my scone was destroyed), and they've done too little with the outdoor area. Coffee is decent, but the employees always look haggard because of the drive-thru. It's just a confusing place, and it doesn't clearly tell you what it wants to be (except a drive-thru coffee place that hates wifi and doesn't fashion a nice seating experience).
